Prototype Backstory
Humans, we're destined to rule the world. Without us the world will be nothing but grasses and empty lands. We turn night into day, unleashed powers of the atom and penetrated the sky. In the year 2030 this happened once more.
The massive population boom filled with educated youths resulted inastronomical advancements in the fields of science and technology. No more than 5 years, humans have eliminated most of their problems, poverty gone, energy crisis disappeared and food readily available at all times. Clearly the next agenda is space, to explore what's out there. But.. nothing prepared us for this.
Discovery of element J, a strange element, abundant only in the farthest reach of galaxy, even then only in 2068 where Femtoscience, Nanorobotics and High Energy physics reached new heights, do humans realized how "magical" this element is. Antimatters, quantum vacuum and literal rearrangements and transformations of an atomic structure were enabled through this revelation. It was through this discovery as well humans discovered other intelligent life forms and introduced to all races they met how to utilize advanced technology, element J and space travel. When the Intergalactic Community was established humans were praised and everyone thought of us as the supreme races, but disrupting natural course of evolution of thinking was never good, eventually the other races realized the humans agenda, trading knowledge for exploitation of rare materials in their home planets no longer available on earth. Once all trade agreements were cancelled humans faced massive crisis of resources and was exiled from galactic community. There's only one answer to this.
The clock finally hit 12 in the year 2099. The built up non nuclear war of nations for rare resources eventually led to a highly energetic "War to End All Wars" that destroyed most of earth and disabled nearly all human colonies except two, mars and the moon, those educated, rich and famous are living like kings in the two colonies, the rest lived in post destroyed earth as near savages with little to no law.
The Project
In the eve of 2097 powerful biomodification corporations and allied nations of the US, UK, Canada, the rest of Europe and parts of Asia invested over 200 billion USD for a single last ditch attempt to forever win the war without finally pushing the WMD buttons. The Übermensch Initiative, bioengineering project to produce an "overman", the Eidolon that will storm battlefields and the hopeful future model of human beings, they're nothing more than humans deeply upgraded in three different ways, Element J implants to introduce each special abilities, enhancer which modified humanly aspects to be their sharpest (speed/strength/smell/etc) and logic assistance system, neural implants to force knowledge of specific subjects to their minds and increase efficiency when they learn something related to it. But alas after 75% deaths & failure, budget was cut short and protection against massive atomic powers are minimal. The entire base was nearly destroyed when bombs dropped and only 10 out of 100 survived.
You are one of them. The year is 2157, earth is safe enough for people to wander and the lawless rule of the jungle ruled the wasteland. You've awoken from your stasis chamber and have lived in Post Earth for at least 6 months. One day you received strange visions of Jefferson's, a small pub in the hub. Each day you're away from the Hub the visions became much more violent and disturbed you, thus no matter how lazy you are you have no choice to make a trip there.
Factions in Post Earth
Gentleman's Club
A ruthless men's only club of "sophisticated" racketeers, criminals in suits and cloak and daggers people, they'll stab you just as they shake your hands. They're dressed neatly, purchased the best weapons, drank the best wine, ate the finest food and spoke like they're people of the moon. They have an operation in the hub. They run things and do meetings in Bling Casino, the highest stake casino in the hub. Their grand base of operation is in Aqua World however.
Diamond Dogs
A tribal like group of mercenaries whose loyalty is to the highest bidder. They frequently provide their services to the Gentleman's Club as enforcers and paid muscle, the status of each member is determined by strength, from individual fights. The leader have killed 10 Diamond Dogs to claim he's the strongest.
Pew-Pew
Originally was a joke idea by a couple of Second Great War veterans, it turned out to be one of the most powerful gang in Post Earth. They stacked tall weapons and procure them from sources they have while still in the military. Led by former captains and sergeants Pew-Pew's respected by anyone, even the sadistic Pain Seeker skirts around Pew-Pew members and they enjoy every single second of it. They organized in militaristic order and perform their crimes carefully and colossally.
Pain Seeker
A brutal and sadistic gang with little to no interest in negotitations, they're allowed to make presence in the hub just because Justicers fear the casualties they're going to suffer after a war with the sadists. They talked loud, challenged everyone and have no rules. What makes them terrifying is their "Angels", enforcers with overzealous worship of an evil goddess and her priestesses who took care of their worst enemies. They took control of Hendrickson's a butcher shop in the hub, they'll treat you nicely if you buy, but made sure you left with a black eye and possibly a broken bone or two if you're just browsing. Their main base of operation is in Old Church.
Locations in Post Earth
The Hub
A center for all kinds of beasts, humans, killers, traders, everything's welcome here. The gangs regulate most of the trades, but there's a small sense of security established by Kevin Mikrut, a tax accountant before the war, but now leader of Justicers, the self appointed policing force of the hub. Even then Justicers only took care 10% of all the crimes that happened in the hub, all sorts of crimes always happened every second. The gangs made their presence here and even Justicers kept some distance from them.
Aqua World
An underwater hotel built in 2065 filled with all the luxury stuff, built to hold around 100.000 people the site was once humanity's proudest achievement. After the war most of the structure were destroyed, but ones that remained were kept by the Gentleman's Club.
Old Church
An old religious building in the Pain Seeker's town of Necros, it was decorated with old world beliefs and held religious symbols. Now however it's a sacred base of operation for the fanatics of Pain Seeker, the Angels and Priestess base is here and here they worshipped their violent goddess.
CRF Complex
More than 50 miles to the north of the Hub and you arrive at the Cybernetics Research Facility, the abandoned site seemed like a dead area, with little to no signs of life. Yet somehow no one dared to enter the place, somehow the turret defense system, robots and other defensive grids are still alive and well cared for. At the front gates you'll see piles of Pain Seeker's fanatics all failed to take control of CRF complex.
Citadel
A former base of operations for the Collective, now used as a place for scavengers to steal war technology, loot small amounts of Jenkins' Element and hide from any gang members or raiders.
Highway
The roads and sites outside of the Hub, Citadel or other major settlements. Dangers including: landmines, thugs, raiders etc.
So that's the possible background, in short you'll play a character age 18-30, with three biomods, special mods which make you can control elements, transform parts of your body to something else or control anything (go crazy! I love hearing new manipulations), physical mods which increase your strength/smell/hearing etc., processor mods which force download information to your brains about skills shooting/martial arts/cooking/chemistry/repairing etc..I also hope if there's anyone joining, then they're allowed to modify any parts of the lore or make your character as leader of the gangs and stuff, I like seeing your ideas and like the background said all characters will start at the Hub in the story.
