The ice blast from Korro froze the head of the Dismantler who was about to spew acid at Diorite. The Dismantler collapsed to the ground, its body twitching as meanwhile, the Ravager Queen blocked some of the ice launched its way. With a giant hand, it managed to block the ice that tried to freeze its antennas, but not its eyes as the ice from Korro collided with its face. A cold splash blasted from its head as ice spread over its eyes, temporarily blinding the beast. The Queen let out a furious roar as it now was forced to rely on its other senses, stomping like an angry Elephant as the Entomancer felt a jolt of fear shoot through him. It had been a long time since the fear of death gnawed at the Elf’s mind, since for the first time in centuries, it had seemed that his enemies might have a chance of besting him. He had made it his life’s mission to topple Lyrenia, and now here he was, being threatened by…lowly mercenaries.

The Queen repeatedly swiped at Korro, attempting to snatch him, missing each time as each attempt become more and more closer than the last. The Entomancer then spoke through the mouth of the Queen, bellowing his voice through the throne room, “What did the Humans promise you? Riches? Forgiveness? Legend-status? Or perhaps, something more…” Spoke the Entomancer through the Queen as it reached out to try to encase Korro in its cold grasp.

Meanwhile, while the levitation spell was active, Steel-Mage hovered higher to get visual on one of the power cell sacs. He detected the closest one in their forces’ vicinity that currently no mercenaries had yet begun traversing to. He pointed both of his wand-hands at the target. Combining the efforts of both of his wands, he started charged a large fireball while simultaneously dodging attacks from Dive-Dismantlers as the magic armor Denver had equipped him with was struck by a large burst of acid, staggering the Warforged a bit as the armor took the blow and vanished from reality. Steel-Mage steadied himself in mid-air as he then fired the man-sized ball of fire at the power cell in the distance, sacrificing half of his mana to do so. The fire melted through any bugs in its way punched into the boulder-sized egg sac, exploding the target to pieces as it was effectively neutralized. There were now 3 power cells that needed to be destroyed. Happy to contribute to fighting the forces of evil, Steel-Mage looked down to Kanon as he levitated, something reminiscent of a smile on his hinged metallic jaw,

“Ma’am, I have eliminated one of the power ce-“ Steel-Mage was tackled from the air by six Dive-Dismantlers that worked together to pile-drive him to the ground with such force, dust exploded from the area of impact. From the dust, the winged-bugs dragged Steel-Mage across the ground at high speeds from the momentum gained from the prior mid-air ambush, beginning to claw and tear at his parts as they dragged him deeper into enemy territory.

The Entomancer had briefly noticed Denver’s distress, and sensed weakness. His weakness stemmed from his love of all life, something the Entomancer with a grudge for humanity that he had loyally clinged to for centuries with desperation to avenge his son, could not even begin to comprehend. He made mental note to exploit his weakness later.

Nearby Kanon and Adelynn, Madrias battled intensely. He had been battered a bit, but Denver’s magic armor had saved his life. However, one miss-swing was all it took for a Dismantler to disarm him: Literally. Madrias screamed in agony as blood gushed from the spot where his arm used to be connected to his torso, the flesh around the wound sizzling before he begun to be picked a part by the Dismantlers surrounding him. “SOMEBODY…HELP!!!!” Pleaded the dying man.

Adelynn turned her head at the cry for help. “Kanon!”

Kanon looked over before she charged. In all honesty, she wasn’t certain how much hope there would be for him. A warrior without his sword arm was helpless, and Kanon already had one person on her back. But Adelynn’s call was as good as a direct order, so Kanon’s honor demanded she do all she could. She used the momentum of her charge to backstab the nearest dismantler. She turned as she withdrew the blade, using the spin to cleave through the next.

Korro leapt to the side, narrowly missing another claw, then another. The giant insect was powerful, but slow, he could use it. That was when he chanced a look back at Denver, saw the goat standing over the body of an insect...crying.
He'd left himself wide open!

Korro was about to call out, rush over to him, but pain seared his side, and he felt himself being lifted bodily off the floor: In his moment of distraction, he'd let the queen catch him. The spines on its feet cracked Denver's armour spell like glass, and buried their way deep into his flesh. That alone might have been enough to kill him, had Denver not given him armour in the first place. The goat had saved his life.
The insect lifted Korro close, turning him to face her.

He looked up into the ice-tangled face of the queen, knowing that the entomancer looked back, their enemy spoke to him:
What was he doing this for? Korro growled, the gold ring glinting about his furred neck. Perhaps the entomancer knew something of the torque, that it's craft was divine, the runes etched into it were binding, and it hummed with powerful magic, but Korro gave nothing away himself. He only snarled.

"I want nothing from humans." He spat. "Only your demise!"
Korro sank his teeth into the soft membrane between the insect's tarsi and froze the joint solid. Then he changed again, and a quick, silver falcon tumbled from its grasp, to right itself in midair and race off into the sky.

The falcon shot about the room like an arrow, striking at eyes and antennae, creating as many distractions for his enemies and openings for his allies as he could.
A stream of acid shot towards him and he flew a spiral around it.
Some of the insects could fly too, yes, but he had noticed that they were so clumsy in their flight that they could never compare to the agility of a bird.

O'Korro_demon_form.png
At length he flew back to the ground, changing into his wolf beastman form once more. He slid to a halt, taking the ice potion Lena had given him and tossing it through a narrow gap of enemies straight towards one of the power cells.

Dark stains bloomed on the tunic under his boar-hide armour, where the queen's spines had pierced him. The wounds hurt, but he gritted his teeth against them, reluctant to call Denver for help, lest he exhaust himself again...

((I wonder how Denver's going to react when he learns Korro's last available form is...a bunny rabbit.))

Denver looked around, what should he do? Korro was hurt but Madrias was going to die! Eventually the goat made the harsh decision, even if he could save Madrias he wouldn't be able to properly heal him, "I'm sorry..." he said before running to the wolfman, "Hold still" he said holding out his staff as all to familiar sound of windchimes blew over as Denver healed the man's wounds. Denver ground his teeth together as he put extra energy into his spell, not only healing the wolf but rejuvenating him. "There, go get em" he said with a not very convincing smile before he turned his head to the side a coughed, it was worse than the last time, but the goat just pushed it off "Let's go, I can't let anyone else die"

Korro felt his body become lighter, the pain subside. He whirled around with a growl at the now familiar jingle of keys from that staff.
"Does that pledge include you?" Korro stormed over, angry that Denver had put his life in danger for him again.
"You can't keep draining yourself like this! What if they catch you because you are too weak to dodge and run?"

He brought himself to his full height, tail lashing like a cat's. "How am I supposed to fight when I'm worried about you?!"
He hadn't meant to admit that, and as soon as he'd said it he drew back as if he'd been burned. His ears fell as he stared at the ground.
Korro, the Demon Wolf didn't worry about people. He just...no, he didn't.

"Besides." The wolf continued in a low, meeker voice. "I'm...I'm not worth your effort."
Korro knew what he was, a demon, a monster...a killer. There was no changing what he had done in the past. Denver was here to make the world a better place, Korro was here because he'd made the world a worse one. There were miles of difference between them...

As Lena flew through the air, dodging and taking on whatever of the giant boats came her way. One of them would get the jump on her. A carriage-sized bug with a sesame seed-shaped body (Lunger) leaped at Lena while she hovered above the battlefield below in mid-air and it managed to tackle her to the ground. When she hit the ground, she let out a painful gasp while holding it attempting to sink its jaws into her jugular whilst having her pinned. When she hit the ground, She did not even notice that she had started to bleed from her head while fighting off the creature. As the creature lunged at her, jaws snapping inches away, Lena took a deep breath and decided to try something unexpected. “I know your brain may not grasp what I'm about to say, but there's a reason I’m always flying around, My magic needs to stay active in some way without it, I face some serious complications and the only thing I ever used my magic for so far here was pretty much just to fly around. So the short of it is—” In a heartbeat, she unleashed her power.

With a swift motion, the creature was encased in a shimmering burst of ice, transforming it from a fearsome beast into a crystalline statue. “I hoped for something more impressive, but I suppose you’ll have to do,” she quipped, smirking as she pierced the frozen creature’s head with the flying orb she had with her. Soon after the icy figure began to obey her commands, moving gracefully as she guided it, now a puppet of her enchanting will.

Lena erupted into gleeful laughter at the sight before her, a wild, exhilarating sound that echoed through the battlefield but pain from when she was slammed to the ground could still be hurt in it. She climbed onto her magnificent ice bug that seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly glow using the orb as a controller. Together, they charged into battle against their former kin, a thrilling confrontation on their quest to reach the power cell.

With each move, the creature unleashed a stream of powerful blue liquid, a potent concoction from the vial she had crafted herself. As she infused it with a generous portion of her magic, the atmosphere crackled with energy. With one final surge, it unleashed a colossal blast at the power cell, shattering it to pieces in an explosion of ice and sound. She would take a swift break before moving to pick up a piece of it before making her way back to the main group having her new ice mount help out whoever she could on her way back. Firing a stream that in circled Madria.” I'm done with my part coming back to you guys.”

Warren pressed onward, the only thing really keeping him up was the adrenaline coursing through him as he headed toward the power cell with Aaliyah. But just as they were about to reach their destination, Barracuda appeared, joining their mission. A wave of relief passed over him as he saw the gunslinger.” Nice to have you with us “.Soon three colossal praying mantises loomed ahead, their intimidating forms blocking the path to their goal.

Warren exchanged a determined glance with Barracuda. “I’ll draw their attention and take them on up close. Look for an opening to finish them off. Aaliyah, focus on the power cell while we handle these monsters. I believe in you and we will be here if you need anything.” After saying, that the only thing going through his head was he would keep his promise.

Without waiting for a response, Warren charged forward, expertly evading the razor-sharp blades the mantises swung at him. His arm guards absorbed the blows, taking only light scratches bits of blood coming out as he danced around their strikes, ready to buy his friends the time they needed. The air started to crackle around him with as the battle commenced, and Warren felt the danger as he faced the daunting creatures blocking their path. “This was never going to be easy was it”. He said to no one in particular.

Aaliyah, not quite affected by the entomancer's spew of human-focused insults on account of being a sahagin, would be concerned as the one that had insulted the lunatic sorcerer would join her group as they'd charge their way to one of the power cells, doing her best to stick close to Warren.

"... I understand." Aaliyah would hum back at the mention of their 'final battle', flicking open the cap of her canteen as the remnants of the water would pour out, defying gravity as it would seem to flow around Aaliyah with each movement of her hands, strangely serene and at ease despite the circumstances now that she was allowing herself to use the meagre amount of liquid.

Three Carriage-sized praying mantises (Cleavers) stood in Warren, Aayliah, and Barracuda’s way, one swinging its bladed arm at the princess’s neck, with hopes of relieving her of it. Meanwhile, a carriage-sized bug with a sesame seed shaped body (Lunger) leaped at Lena while she hovered above the battlefield below in mid-air, attempting to tackle her down to the carnage below. If it succeeded, it would attempt to sink its jaws into her jugular whilst having her pinned.
Warren exchanged a determined glance with Barracuda. “I’ll draw their attention and take them on up close. Look for an opening to finish them off. Aaliyah, focus on the power cell while we handle these monsters. He said to no one in particular.
"Okay!" Aaliyah would answer, her palm swiping upward as the water would rush upward, slamming into the underside of its 'shoulder' mid-swing to throw it off balance as she'd charge past, the torrent of water flowing after her as she'd leave the mantis to warren.

Arriving at sacs, the princess would form multiple spikes, thrusting them haphazardly into the pheromone dispenses in the hopes that it would break them somehow, vulnerable as she'd focus her attention on maintaining the multiple weapons, and even more on repeatedly moving them seperately, small beads of sweat already forming on her scales.

Denver tenced up when he was confronted by Korro. Denver stared up at him with a look of disbelief and pity. "are you serious?" he said with a scoff "You are one of the only ones here who needs to live. What have I done? Moved a rock? provided a pitiful shield? I killed one bug and cried over it! What use am I? Im a goat, Im prey! I dont matter! Let me do this so I can actually make a difference! My life doesn't matter but yours does! Just...just let me preserve it for as long as I can stand" Denver said challenging the wolf as the keys on his staff jingled vilently. "Please... Just let me do this"

Taken aback by Denver's vehement answer, Korro stood silently for a moment. He regarded the bard with a mixture of understanding and sadness.
Perhaps..their outlooks were not all that different.
"You do matter..." Korro protested. Then, he set a determined expression.
"...And I will tell you exactly how, the moment we're not fighting for our lives."
He poked Denver in his chest with one claw. "We are having a conversation about this after the entomancer is defeated, so you'd better stay alive until then."

Kanon glanced over as the remained of the bugs she faced were suddenly blasted by ice, seeing one of their magic casters riding a frozen bug. Whatever works. She offered a nod of thanks before looking to Madrias.

Adelynn had hopped off Kanon’s back as soon as the immediate area was clear, hobbling to Madrias to check on him. Already she was casting her magic, but it was still a tragically weak spell. It was meant for healing scrapes and minor cuts. With this, it would only barely reduce the pain, maybe slow the bleeding. She knew she wouldn’t be able to save him, but even so she put everything she had into that little spell, hoping beyond hope that he would be strong enough to pull himself through.

The Queen let out a yelp as Korro escaped his grasp. It pursued the shapeshifting soldier but then turned its attention to the Red Knight. Elixen blitzed past an ankle of the Queen, slicing in-between the chitin with a claw resulting in the Queen being staggered more as it stumbled. Elixen circled back around, turning her body into a living javelin as she burst through countless bugs with such force that they exploded to bits as she was determined to fell the Queen. However, this time, the Queen focused, anticipating the Cheetah’s arrival as it swiftly snatched the Cheetah with a large hand before she could strike again. The Queen then grabbed the quadrupedal Cheetah by the head and waist and raised her behind her back as she slowly begin to tear the Demi-Titan Cheetah in half, the tendons holding her body together unbuckling as they started to be ripped in two, light cyan blood leaking from the Cheetah’s torso. The Queen clamped her fingers over her snout, preventing her screams from being witnessed as Elixen’s life flashed before her eyes, reflecting upon a lifetime of failure.

Steel-Mage was pulled by the Dive-Dismantlers into a ditch, where the sounds of metal parts being forcefully disassembled shot through the air.

Helena’s ice swirled around the Dismantlers consuming Madrias, leaving the bloody mess of a man laying amongst visceral icy statues. Madrias lied on the floor without an arm and leg as his eyes met Adelynn’s. A small smile crept up his face as he felt some comfort in what could be his final moments. While Kanon had been distracted with Madrias, the Ravager Queen dragged itself to Kanon, Adelynn and the Dismantled Human and snatched the Pandafolk by her legs, lifting her up into the air as she soon dangled above the chaos below upside-down. Some of the spines on the giant spiky bug-hand that held her impaled into her legs, Denver’s magic armor possibly protecting her from losing them entirely as beastkin blood smeared in-between Kanon’s calfs and the Queen’s fingers that grasped her. Soon, the Queen held Kanon dangling upside-down in front of the Entomancer’s chrysalis.

Kanon was now face-to-face with the Entomancer.

The mercenaries were the first in centuries to see the Entomancer in the flesh, as all of his enemies usually become food for his gluttonous legions of bugs before they could even dream about catching a glimpse of their master. The Entomancer was publicly known to be an Elf, and while he had the signature long and pointy ears of one, the rest of his features were entirely divorced from that fact. The Entomancer opened four more of his glowing green eyes to reveal that he had them, and his body was wrapped in a black and green exoskeleton instead of skin, and in the spot where a mouth should have been, gnashing mandibles that smiled like a psychopath. He no longer had a nose. The only thing in-between Akenian and Kanon was the translucent chrysalis and its protective layers of silk that encased the madman, the fist-sized beetles no longer guarding it.

“I have been making myself a new body. I hope you like it, because when my metamorphosis is complete…” The Entomancer’s eyes psychotically twitched as he jubilantly grinned at the Red Knight. “I am going to relish…every second of…” The Elf chuckled a bit. “…tearing you apart.”

Tonnie soared through the air on her flying staff, hurling a potion of blue elixir at the Queen’s hand that held Kanon, frost exploding and spreading across the chitin as the Queen dropped Kanon from its grasp.

Meanwhile, Madrias smiled at Adelynn with a bloody mouth, his voice rife with pain,

“Adelynn, do not let the torch burn out…” Urged he, as life slipped from his being with every passing second.

Tonnie felt her stomach drop as she nosedived to catch Kanon on her staff as she dodged a giant hand from the thrashing Ravager Queen. “Are you alright, mate?” Asked she as the witch flew both back to where Adelynn sat before Madrias, the Paladin’s fate all but sealed.

Meanwhile, with one Cleaver staggered by the Sahagin, and the other two busy striking the Geomancer, Barracuda focused on the parts in-between the chitin on the throats of the Cleavers. He then reeled his arm back, and slung a boomerang at them, the boomerang beheading all three Cleavers as his boomerang returned to his hand drenched in arthropod fluid.

Like converging fate, every remaining power cell met its doom at the hands of the mercenaries at around the same moment. One cell was impaled by water-spikes shot from Aayliah, resulting in the sac exploding. Another was frozen solid and shattered courtesy of Helena’s concoction. The last met a bitter cold end from Korro’s cryomancy. Soon, the bugs became disorganized and clumsy, Quickclaw, Blestare, and the Lyrenian Knight aiding in clearing out the last of the forces. A splash of acid burned Quickclaw’s tail off as she screamed in pain, the Lyrenian Knight climbing on top of a Cleaver and decapitating the beast with brutal swing of his steel.

Nearby Denver and Korro, a Dismantler with broken legs lied on the floor, staring at Denver with pleading eyes. It reached a desperate hand to the goat, as if begging for mercy.

Soon, the only real threat remaining was the Ravager Queen, and the Entomancer himself, who’s sadism knew no bounds.

Kanon gave Tonnie a nod as she held onto the staff. “Yes, thanks to you.” She looked back towards the Ravager Queen and the Entomancer’s chrysalis. The bug had weak points like the rest, gaps in the chitin and so on. But their main target was still encased and protected, hanging from…threads. Kanon looked to Tonnie, situating herself better on the staff. “Wait, take me up higher. I want to see if I can cut the threads holding this madman out of reach.”

Adelynn sat by Madrias, the fur on her face dampened by tears. The threat of mana exhaustion had stopped her casting and she now could only stare at his dying smile. “I won’t… I’ll make sure you’re remembered…”

The goat looked at Korro and slowly nodded "I-I will...that means you have to stay alive as well" he said with a small giggle before looking down at the dismantler with pity in his eyes. "You poor thing" he said as Dio sat on his shoulders ready to kill the insect if it tried anything funny. Denver knelt down and held the dismantlers hands "You arnet evil...just scared...you want protection..." he said as the soft jingleing noise filled the room as Denver focused his remaning mana to the insect healing the bugs broken legs before the goat started coughing again. He tried to stand but ended up falling backwards. Denver managed to get onto his hands and knees before vomiting hard. having expelled his sickness Denver pulled himself up by his staff and looked down at the insect that he helped "Run...dont let the others find you. you wont be safe staying with us. find yourself a better life" he said as he slowly made his way to the fight. detemined to help.

Lena would see that her efforts only shortly prolonged Madrias life as the injury he sustained meant he didn't have long. After seeing Adelynn and Kanon go to him she would go for someone else. She would do a quick scan of the battlefield and its chaos seeing that the giant bugs become disorganized and clumsy from the destruction of the power cells now was the perfect opportunity. But she also found what she was looking for having her icey mount charge forward biting and cutting through any of the bugs that got in their way, she would make her way to what was left of the Steel-Mage or treating his head, torso, and wands. “Hey hey, I don't know if you're still with us but I'm taking you anyway. If you are still there, let me know and I will give you control of my mount Steel-Mage.” Saying it only so he could hear .“But if you aren't, I mean you should body for something else to get us all out of here. Sorry about that.”Placing him right behind her on her mount she would move quickly back to the rest of the group. She would conserve mana by having her ice mount only use close-range combat for the time being. Having it crawl over to Korro and Denver. “ Need a hand we are here to help, also, thanks for the armor,” she said as she made her way to the pair with the steel-mage injuries and all.

Warren felt a wave of relief wash over him as Barracuda skillfully dispatched all three cleavers in one swift motion. This opened a crucial window for Aaliyah, allowing her to snatch the power cell without obstruction. “Great job, both of you! Now, let’s regroup with the others,” he urged, glancing over at Madrias, who lay on his back, similarly spent from the fight.

With a determined nod, Warren retrieved his sword, plunging it into the ground beside him. “Not sure if you wanted this or not,” he remarked, casting a sideways glance at Adelynn before turning his attention to the dwarven berserker battle ax. Despite the chaos of battle, he felt fortunate; his armor, a gift from Denver, had spared him from serious injuries. He’d have to make sure to thank him once this was all over. Steeling himself, Warren advanced, wielding the ax and coating it in the vial of pink look that he got from Helena. He was determined to conserve his magical energy and rely on his physical strength. Backing up Quickclaw he began to cut down any bugs with Blestare, and the Lyrenian Knight.

Korro nodded. "Deal." He said with a smile. Denver's sweet giggle brought colour to his cheeks, and he was suddenly very glad he had fur.

The rumble of the ice-puppet beetle made him turn and Lena's head popped out from overtop of the creature's large thoracic plate. Korro couldn't help but look impressed.

He held up the last of Lena's vials, the pink one, that apparently liquified anything part of an insect that was acid-proof.
"Help me give our giant bug queen her last meal?" He asked with a conspiratorial grin.

If they could get the vial down the creature's throat, it might just spell the end for the entomancer's largest weapon.

Denver was standing over a broken enemy, so Korro did not consider it a danger. He charged for the queen, leaping onto her carapace and driving the spike of his sword into its leathery chitin. He climbed as fast as he could, running along its back, heading straight for the mandibles, the little vial clutched delicately in his clawed hand. He would wait for Lena to help provide an opening.

Tonnie noticed Kanon’s bloody legs and casted a quick healing spell, the puncture wounds on her legs beginning to heal as she started to fly both of them to the Entomancer’s chrysalis on her flying staff, being careful to avoid the sight of the Entomancer as they soon hovered above the cocoon that encased the Entomancer, near the threads of sludge that kept it suspended in the air.

Steel-Mage was missing a leg, foot, and an eye as Lena carried him to their allies. He soon re-animated, looking to Helena as he rode on the icy arthropod transport, “Steel-Mage, reporting for duty!” Responded the Warforged, his magic core now able to re-animate his endoskeleton.

The Dismantler rose to its feet with its newly healed legs. It had planned to thank Denver for his good deed. With Denver’s back turned to it, it brandished its claws and unleashed a stream of deadly acid from its mouth to the goat’s back.

Denver gasped loud. Already weekend the goat fell to the ground as tears flowed down his face. Dio fell off Denver's shoulder "Friend!!" he yelled before turning to the dismantler and blasting it with fire until nothing remained of the insect except a charred corpse. Denver placed the plate from the beetle in the front of himself, so his back was completely exposed. he could smell the fur of his back burning as his flesh singed and burned, acting fast Diorite took the rolled up blanket from Denver's bag which Denver had set to the side before taking down the beetle with his dagger and using it to soak up the acid on the goats back before it could melt into the goat, that did not mean that Denver was ok. The goats back were completely burned as the goat breathed shallowly. Grabbing his staff the goat planned to heal himself but that was when realization set in...

Denver had very little mana left. if he used it then his friends remaining armor would break. Grinding his teeth Denver set the staff down and gave up. Diorite nudged him gently as Denver reached up to pet him "D-Dio...You need to go help the other...I-I cant move...I'll stay awake as long as I can...win the fight for me ok?" he said fully expecting this day to be his last. Dio's wings fluttered with a mix of anger and worry "N-No friend!! I can't leave you!!" he said as Denver coughed a bit "P-Please Dio...find Korro, fight with him." he said before Laying limp, still awake but incapacitated.

Dio whimpered a bit but wanting to respect his friend he left. Scurrying to Korro and climbing onto his shoulder ready to fight, He reared back and let fire build in his body before blasting the queen with every thing he had, like a mighty dragon he kept himself burning as long as possible.

When the Steelmage came back to life she would hand him one of his wands and 3 of her last four healing potions and healing wraps.”Use them well I might need one of them in a bit and give some cover fire.” She said leaving him with Denver.

As Lena listened to Korro's bold suggestion to provide the queen with one final meal, she nodded in agreement. “Why not?” she replied, her heart racing with a blend of excitement and apprehension. With determination, she watched him charge forward, clutching one of her precious vials, a glint of ambition in his eyes.

Without hesitation, she leaped onto her icy mount, its breath crystallizing in the air, and surged after him. With a swift motion, she unleashed a powerful stream of ice directly at the colossal bug queen, feeling the thrill of magic coursing through her veins. Gathering all the momentum she could, her mount barreled toward the giant creature, a daring crash course aimed at its core.

The impact reverberated through her, sending a shockwave as her mount cracked some under the strain, but it didn’t falter. Both Lena and the towering bug queen were thrown back, reeling from the collision, giving Korro the moment he needed to strike. Lena hit the ground hard, the world spinning for a brief second as the dust settled around her. Her mount coiled around her.

Kanon braced herself on the staff as they got into position. She wouldn’t be able to swing effectively while on the staff; no space for the required footwork. Instead, she jumped off the staff with her sword raised, bringing the full weight of her blade into the threads as she landed with her feet on the cocoon. Though if this worked, that would not be a stable place to stand for very long.

O'Korro_demon_form.png
Korro did not waste the chance provided. He saw the beetle charge, swinging his sword down to embed itself into the soft line between the queen's thorax and head. He held on as the beast rocked on the impact. As it toppled, he leapt up. The creature's mouth opened in an enraged roar and Korro fell down towards it. Razor-sharp mouth parts tore at his arms as he wrestled the vial down into what he hoped was its throat. He felt the glass crack and fought his way back, allowing the potion to do its grizzly work.

Falling clear he landed on his side painfully and rolled, narrowly escaping a giant claw that slammed down to the floor where his head had just been.
There was rubble and acid everywhere, and the weight on his shoulder told him that Kyanite had returned...only, it wasn't Ky.
Denver's mantis was now sitting there. It had not been ice jetting over his shoulder, how could he have failed to notice, even in the heat of combat?

"Where is Denver?" Korro demanded of the bug, for the first time, fear touched his eyes.
The wolf nodded to Lena, and before he could see the effect of their combined attack, he was rushing to the last place Denver had been.
He found the goat, badly burned on his shoulders and back, but alive. The pile of ash that was only reminiscent of the insect that had attacked him. It told Korro what he needed to know.
He knelt by Denver carefully.

"What did I just say?" His voice was soft this time, with no edge or anger, only relief that the reckless mage had not been killed.
Ky did return then, perching on Korro's other shoulder and uttering his strange noises in concern.

Korro turned and looked wildly around for the sea maiden. "Aliyah! I need your help!" He barked, hoping she would hear him above the chaos.

Destroying the power cell went off without a problem, her mind settled on being thankful that Barracuda joined them as he'd deal with their three attackers, letting out an exhausted huff of air before she'd rejoin Warren as they'd group up with Denver, Quickclaw, Blestare, and the Lyrenian knight.

Though she'd just about hear a cry for her name over the racket of the fight with the queen, freezing for a moment, startled as she'd search for the voice, before she'd start rushing over with the remnants of her water in tow, now a mere ball of water hovering above her rather than the flowing veil it had been, the path reasonably safe now that most of the smaller insects had been dealt with, though she still hated the idea of moving away from Warren and his promise of safety.

As she'd approach, it was apparent why she'd been called, the sight of another injured person making her feel as nauseous as they had before as she'd ignore the pile of ash, forcing herself to focus on Denver's injured shoulder as she'd slide behind Korro, overwhelmed by all the stress as her composure would start breaking down .

'Unraveling' her ball of water, it would stream onto his wound, her terrified face and sharp eyes knitted in concentration as she would start repairing him, a pit in her stomach at the thought of failing, soft, panicked gasps spilling out of her.

As Denver was held by Korro he felt his eyes flutter closed. as soon as he did he opened them, but...not on the battlefield he was floating, the long endless void of space surrounding him as he looked at the stars. "Hello? Is anyone there?" he called out to the void. "Is this...the afterlife?" he asked himself looking around before gasping as a nebulas formed in frount of the goats eyes. staring at it he gasped watching it take form. "M...mom?" he asked as the stars formed into the shape of his late mother, the female goat smiled as Denver ran to her and hugged her waist. the goat was much smaller now, looking like a child as tears streamed down his face "I-I couldent do it...Im not strong enough mom..." he said as she pet his back.

"Your time is not now child" she said as Denver looked up "w-what?" he asked with a sniffle as she wiped his tears away. "You are still needed. you will live longer. Fear not my child, I will be here to guide you along. The stars are yours child" she said before denver was swept away, "M-Mom wait!! i-Im not ready!! to leave you yet!" he pleaded but it didnt matter, the water coverd his body and the goats eyes snapped open. with a gasp he sat up with the wound on his back healed.

"W-what happened? d-did we win?" he asked Korro before Dio jumped into his arms and snuggled the goat as his memory came back. "I...I got hit...D-did you heal me?" he asked Aaliyah as he smiled a little "thank you..." he said as he tried to stand.

A torrent of fire and ice exploded into the Ravager Queen, frying and freezing the freakish beast at the same time. The Queen was also sent flying back from Lena’s mount slamming into its chest, sliding on its back across the ground. The Queen was in the process of tearing Elixen into two, but the quadrupedal Cheetah slipped out of her grasp the moment it was blasted off its feet. Elixen’s badly injured and unconscious body flew through the air, careening through the air as she plummeted to what could be her doom if nobody intervened. The impact of the Queen’s body hitting the ground sent a wave a dust all over the throne room as the acid within the Queen’s body burned through it due to the last meal Korro and Helena had granted it.

The five threads that kept the Entomancer’s chrysalis suspended in the air were chopped in half, the chrysalis instantly dropping towards the temporary ocean of dust below. Tonnie swooped down to get Kanon on her staff before flying both of them to safety below.

After re-attaching his wands to the stump-ends of his metal arms, Steel-Mage blasted any remaining Dive-Dismantlers with beams of fire, the last ones clumsily drifting through the air like distracted bumblebees.

Soon, silence overtook the once chaotic throne room. Madrias drew his last breath as he stared into Adelynn’s eyes, his muscles relaxing as he bit the dust. Steel-Mage casted a medium-level gust of wind spell that cleared up the dust in the mercenaries’ area, but a cloud of dust still hovered over the Queen’s body and where the Entomacer’s chrysalis fell, obscuring his fate.

“Someone should make sure he is dead.” Suggested the Dragonborn who used a wood elf as a meat shield earlier, the scaly Warlock-Fighter gripping his halberd nervously.

Kanon nodded her thanks to Tonnie as she caught her. That would've been a painful landing. "My thanks, again." She was glad to have her feet by on the ground, and gladder still to see Adelynn was unharmed. Well, mostly. She still had the wound on her ankle. Kanon knelt next to her with a hand on her shoulder. She didn't have any words of comfort, so she could only offer that. "...see to your wound. You don't want it getting infected."

Adelynn glanced at Kanon before looking back at her foot. She'd nearly forgotten about that. The one good thing about a small magic pool was that it recovered quickly, so was able to give herself some light healing. Enough to close the wound so it wouldn't fester.

Kanon stood back up and looked towards the dust cloud. "Agreed. This isn't truly over until his head is free of his shoulders." With a glance at the others, she began walking towards where the chrysalis had landed. She remained alert, more so because of the dust obscuring her vision, and kept her blade ready to defend at a moment's notice.

((In the before, cause he was right there, I just didn't think Elixen was still alive.))

Korro rose from the ground with a pained groan. The queen reeling away from him. He caught sight of the cheetah sailing through the air, a swift end if she wasn't caught. The torque about his neck tightened suddenly and Korro gagged, rushing forward and leaping to fold the cat's body in a gentle catch. He laid her down gently, watching her shallow breaths, making sure she wasn't going to get stepped on by anything before he rushed to Denver.

((Present))

Korro breathed a sigh of relief as Denver sat bolt upright. When his eyes had closed Korro feared the worst.

He nodded to Aliyah, this time thanking her in words.
"You are conducting yourself well. The heat of battle is a difficult place."
He had noticed her panicked breathing.
"Hey," he said gently, to get her attention. "You have every reason to be afraid, but your actions despite that fear, those are what make you mighty."
He glanced back over one shoulder.
"The cheetah fighter is wounded badly, just across the room there."
Korro pointed, hoping it would not be too late to help her.

Korro watched the queen writhe as she died, slowly, there would be no saving that creature from the damage they had done. He noticed the entomancer's cocoon was gone, fallen into the slowly-settling dust.

Korro could only hope he had been vanquished, but part of him did not believe it would be that easy.
He felt Denver stir and made a disapproving noise as he tried to stand.
"That is not wise." Korro growled. "Let Dio and Ky mind you. I will go see if the battle is over."

With that he rose to join Kanon and the other fighters still standing.
