Adventures In Slaying (Buffyverse)

Jake was up before everyone else in his family which was the new norm for him. It was five in the morning and he found that going for a run first thing helped him with his aggression. Usually he had it under control but he'd found over the last year that it was harder to stay on top of his temper if he didn't go for a run and burn off some of that energy first thing. So that's what he did and he made sure to do that especially on three particularly difficult days for him. He ran for a good hour before heading back home Jake was still the only person awake which was fine he liked it that way it was easier than trying to avoid that meowing hug or kiss his mother would try to give him, and the odd look his sister would shoot him after the awkward encounter.

Unfortunately though everyone was up at seven and he was no longer alone. "Good morning sweetheart." His mother said with a smile and headed to give him that hug. Jake stood up and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry I haven't showered yet." He replied and strode off up the stairs to the bathroom he passed Katie who just sighed, "She loves and is just trying to show it, you could give her a hug, she changed your diapers after all." Jake just shrugged, "I'm sweaty and gross." He replied and closed the bathroom door.

After that the routine of taking a shower and getting dressed then hiding out in his room until it was time to walk to school occurred, and his mother and sister discussing that he still seemed to affected by the accident and maybe he should see a counselor or something happened to which his father just stated he as a teenager and was just going through a phase happend. After that part of the morning was over he and Katie began their walk to school which ended the same way her making up some excuse and running ahead so she wouldn't have to be seen with her now antisocial brother who was into drugs or some other crap.

Honestly Jake didn't care what they said about him as he'd cut ties with anyone he cared about after he discovered what he was. It was better for them as he didn't want to hurt anyone or worse turn them into a monster like him.

Jake made his way into Riversville High and made his way to his locker doing his best to avoid eye contact with anyone. Katie on the other hand was already busy talking with her friends and talking about the latest gossip. Especially the rumors that there would be a new kid in school this year, which was always exciting. Jake could care less about these rumors if there was a new kid it just meant that there was one more person he should try and avoid.

By the time six o'clock in the morning rolled around, Violet was frustratingly banging around on her nightstand. "C'mon alarm clock...I know you're there somewhere..." She said to herself, eyes closed and faced buried in her pillow.

Her hand scanned the nightstand, finding her alarm and pounding down on it, literally crushing it. Damn that Slayer strength. "Damn...there's another 20 bucks down the drain." She commented into her pillow, muffled. She rose up out of bed, yawning beneath the mess of dirty blonde hair she called her own.

She smelled coffee brewing. Likely her dad and uncle were awake downstairs, already brewing some up and making breakfast. And by breakfast, she meant frozen waffles. Meh, it was something on the ol' stomach, at least. Violet trudged around her bedroom, brushing her tangled hair and flattening it with an iron, rummaging through her drawers to find something suitable for her first day at a new school. She didn't know the dress code, or what would make her seem like the new girl who's got glam, or got...blam? She honestly didn't care, but she wanted to look decent on her first day. Even tomboys sort of care.

In her dresser, decorated in vintage Star Wars action figures she settled on black skinny jeans, a red tank top, and solid black converse. She took her time in putting on a cross necklace, a small silver crucifix. Not a religious reason, just...well...reasons. Even during the day, you can never be too safe.

When she was ready, she trudged out of her room down the hell, brushing her teeth, peeing, and applying deodorant, all in one go. Not at the same time, of course...gross. Could you imagine? Who can multitask that much?

She ran down the stairs, greeting her dad, uncle, and cousin Alexis in the kitchen. "Morning." She greeted, an...eager tone of voice. Another new school...great. "Morning, honey." Her dad replied, a simple wave from her uncle and cousin. "Ready for Riversville High?" Her dad asked. She shook her head. "Not in the slightest..." She said honestly. Her dad just chuckled and ruffled her hair.

After breakfast, the girls both grabbed their bags and headed to Alexis' car. They hopped in and she drove them to school. Finally, a chance for girl talk! "So, kiddo...ready to be the Slayer in a new school?" Alexis asked, eyes on the road.

"Don't call me kiddo. And I don't want anything to do with Slayer business at Riversville...I just want to keep it low." Violet said.

"Oh really? Even when the principal knows what you did at your last school?"

"Hey! That football field was full of vampires. And a demon...someone had to set it all on fire. With a tank of gas...and a grenade...still don't know where I got that grenade from, by the way." Violet replied.

"Magic, remember?" Alexis asked. The one football game Alexis came to to come visit Violet, and that happens...joy.

The girls soon pulled into the parking lot, walking through the front doors, immediately parting ways. Alexis went off to class, AP English with Charles Grey. A new teacher, so she was told. It happened to be a multi-grade level class, so anyone could be in it. Anyone. (our characters, that is) Violet had the same class, but was lost and didn't know where she was going. Alexis, being Alexis, didn't act as much help.

Violet was stared at...known as the new girl, spotted a mile away. People pointed at her, whispered about her. The usual teenager stuff. Violet eyed the halls, the school similar to her old one. Not as dark and depressing, but still what you'd expect in a public school.

She walked past a boy who looked pretty antisocial, as well as some girls who were sharing gossip. Gossip about a new kid, that is. With all eyes on her, it didn't take a genius to point out the new kid. She held her schedule up, to her face, eyeing which class was in which room number...totally lost. She hated being new. Didn't help that Alexis was distant from her...and she knew nobody.

She turned around, thinking her class, AP English, was in the other direction. As she walked, she bumped into a boy at his locker...he seemed antisocial, just his overall presence. "Oh, sorry." She said to him, catching a quick look at him before starting to walk off.

Jake was busy going through his locker when he felt the all to frimilar bump that always seemed to happen in crowded school hallways. Why he even bothered to come back to school when he was constantly going to be slightly annoyed on a regular basis was beyond him. Fortunately the girl apologized, "It's fine." He replied and was thankful that she was already leaving. Granted the truth was he was only back in school because his mother and sister were worried about him after high school though he was planning on leaving and not staying in one place to long hoping that perhaps he could maybe find a way to cure what he was, as he roamed the Earth.

Granted it took a moment for him to notice that this girl had to be the girl, and odds were she was probably looking for a sign stating which way would take her too her class. She wouldn't find many and being late and new on the first day sucked so he figured he might as well help get to her first class on time anyway. With his mind made up Jason took off after the blonde and when he caught up with her he grabbed her shoulder, "You're new right? I'll take you to your first class that way you won't be late, and get more stares than you already will." He said softly he wasn't to enthusiastic about it but he'd do it that, then he'd have nothing to do with her after that. Somehow he actually managed to stay on top of his English while he was away for his year of recovery and him being late to his AP English class with the new teacher Mr. Grey wouldn't be the worst thing for him.

Jason had gotten a lot of attention after he came back from his year absence, everyone knew about the attack, and why he'd taken time off but that didn't stop them from asking about it or asking about the tattoos. Things got worse though when he broke up with his girlfriend then he lost his friends and her's which was fine he just didn't expect them to be as harsh as they were. But that was in the past now and they all just avoided each other, wich was probably the best thing since Jason did his best to avoid things that fed hid inner beast.
