Belladonna sighed heavily as he closed the door to his room. He was finally alone. That kind group of dragons and werewolves that helped him move his luggage had also unpacked it for him.
'So that was a football team? They all seemed quite robust for some silly human sport.'


He fluttered through his room to his balcony. Apparently, the rooms with balconies were pretty spare; he was glad that he had gotten one of them.


As he leaned against the guardrail, he saw a light flash from inside his room and turned to watch the mirror on the wall swirl with colors. Once the swirling settled, he was looking into the private office of the King of the Fluttering Fae.


"Belladonna." The Kings voice was strong and gruff, like a mountain.


"Hello Father. To what do I owe this pleasure?"


"I called to make sure you were in the room I requested and that you weren't causing trouble for the other creatures there. Are you?"


"Yes Father I am in my room. No Father I have not caused trouble."


"Then why do I see magic on you? You haven't been using your Gift, have you?" Questions laced with warnings.


"Of course not Father. I-I know better. I just performed a light show for some students in the courtyard." His wings drooped as his rubbed his arm.


"Huh. I'm sure they were impressed by it. Coming from you, I doubt it was anything worthy of the Evensong name."


The King scoffed and chuckled at the impossible thought.


"Yes Father I know. I'm sorry." He bowed his head.


"Yes, yes. Never mind all that. Just make sure I never have to hear about you. Your mother wanted to speak with you, but she has fallen ill once again. That will be all."


The light of the mirror faded and it's surface returned to normal.


Belladonna bowed for the empty mirror before pulling some seeds out of his pocket. He planted the seeds into the various flower pots on the table near the windows. Using his Gift, he quickened their growth and watched as Belladonna flowers grew and blossomed. Sitting amongst the beautiful and deadly flowers, that he was immune to, Belladonna cried quietly through the night.

Actually rereading it, I got a little misty. That wasn't even the worst he's had to endure. In fact, that little visit was actually one of the nicest times he's actually ever had with his father

If you tried, he would end you with a thought. His special power is Light, as in it's weaponization.


You get to dislike him even more too. There's a flashback examining why he treats Belladonna that way AND why his name is Belladonna.

Let me make this clear bud. He doesn't just mold light into a weapon. He ain't no damn Green Lantern. He weaponization it. As in the light that bounces off of and is absorbed by your eyes is suddenly burning through them and your skull.

I was kinda hoping so. I figured that there were at least three overarching types of Fairies, hence the three Fairy rings.
