Abel's Ship

Abel's Ship

A cruiser that allows for around fifteen crew mates, it has twenty-one active weapons and a few more that sit unused in storage.

As Zera, Leena and Abel warp away from the Invictan forces that invade Earth, the ship is rammed by one of the Invictan fighters. This knocked them off course and they ended up warping into deep, empty space, the only thing other than them in the nearby area being a single object built with shards of obsidian.

"Aw, shit!" Abel yells and furrows his eyebrows. "This isn't good. We were almost out of there!" He takes a moment to view feedback from the sensors. "Ugh, this is going to take credits to repair that I don't have to spend!" He holds his forehead, deeply breathing. He just takes a minute to relax, before sighing. "At least it wasn't too bad. The sensors on the ship only report a small section to have taken damage, and only one or two rooms should be exposed. I'll definitely have to replace a weapon or two, but this isn't too bad. Hell, we managed to get away with our lives. I'd call that a victory." He stands up and turns to face the two of them. "So. Zera. Leena... Any comments on my driving?" He cracks a smile, a weary smile, but still a smile.

The vessel, taken with the flight of the warp drive floated listlessly alongside it, small pieces of debris glimmering around and lazily bumping into it. The signal it sent was slightly distorted by the damage of the warp jump.

Zera

"I've done better driving under the influence after taking 17 shots of nigtara," he joked, getting friendlier with his new mates for now.  He looked out the window and stared at the vessel "Think we should retrieve it?"  He got on his board, floating above the ground by a little "I can do it.  Plus I would like to go for a bit of cosmos surfing."

"I don't know what nigtara is, but it's probably water. I'm thinking that it might be all it takes to get you drunk." Abel says with a smile. Turning back to the pilot seat and viewing the nearly opaque holographic screen, he sees the signal. Scratching his chin for a few seconds and thinking about the request, he gives Zera a nod. "I'll go open the airlock, and you can push it in." Abel picks up his helmet which had been situated next to his seat, then walks over and opens the door to the pilot room.

She jolts to the side from the impact right after the ship warps. "Ah! What was that?!" She shouts, startled shutting her eyes and covering her face going into warp speed.

Leena, breathing heavily and scared for her life "why why why why did I leave my ship?!" She regrets.

Suddenly the ship stops. Slowly opening her eyes still gritting her teeth and dropping her hands she relaxes some "heh.. we made it!" She exclaims looking at the others.

She unstraps her seat belts "You're quite the improviser ill give you that!" starts towards Abel monitors noticing the distress the ship is in she nods "Hey well you just happen to be in luck.. I know how to repair hulls.." she presses a few buttons on the ships status screen, zooming into the damaged area "...seems like an easy enough fix, Abel.." Looks around "...but considering we're not at a port I might have to tear apart a bit of the inside of your ship to weld onto the outside.." she frowns childishly and bringing her hands to her eyes as if crying says "...but someone is going to need a fresh paint job after we get out of here."

She programs her headset to talk back to the main speakers and starts towards the back of the ship and looks at Zera before going down the stairs. She grins "hmm.. maybe we could use your board to weld onto the outside instead?" She says sticking out her tongue and disappearing down the stairs.

She finds a few tool boxes and attaches a welding helmet to her suit placing a few screws to latch it in place. She presses a button to pressurize her suit emitting a 'psst' sound. She smiles and begins taking apart the inside of the ship. "Where it won't cosmetically look terrible" she said while using the laser cutter.

With the pieces needed. She starts towards the damaged section of the ship and closes the chamber doors as to not further de-stabilize pressure levels throughout the ship. She flicks a switch on her arm and her helmets lights fire up and examines the hook like piercing on the hull. She takes the cutter and gets to work on slicing the steel or rock like sharp rods.

Managing to break the ship free she gazes through the openings and notices a small ominous looking ship. She presses a button on the left side of her head "Abel.. do you copy?" She doesn't wait. "T-here's something very strange outside.. it looks.. alien.. and it's not cute"

Zera

"Trust me, it isn't simple water, nigtara makes your brain feel like your brain is getting smashed between planets so it isn't something easy."  He grabbed his board and flew out of the ship.  He took a second to gain his balance, Zera looked up, watching the stars and surfing space, enjoying the silence.  He looked back at the vessel "Hey!" he mouthed to Leena while getting closer, oddly not needing a space suit.

Hearing Leena sound awfully frightened through his helmet as he walks down to the airlock, he puts his helmet back and takes a guess as to what she could be talking about. "I can hear you. Zera's got it covered, and it shouldn't be hostile." Abel thinks to himself for a second, making a mental note to get Zera a spacesuit eventually, because regardless of going into space and being ok in his skin, Abel would still need to talk to him and without a suit they can't communicate. As he walks down to the airlock, he makes a quick stop at the armory, briefly inspecting the two pistols, first the acid spitting one and then the plasma one. Blasters, pistols, whatever, the same to him. After deciding they're both ok, he empties them and walks to the airlock.

She sits down at the edge of the damaged hull looking at what upon further inspection seems like some type of pod. Her eyes squinting some. "Copy that.." she responds.

Her head moves to look at Zera on his board. She was curious as to how he could breathe in space. Is he even breathing? She wondered. "uhm.. hey.." she greets, returning her sight at the ominous pod. "What do you think 'that' is?" She says shinning her suits lights at it. "Never seen anything like that.. it looks.. creepy.."

"I'm not too sure. There was a message that came along with it, likely automated, that I assume means it's a gift. It was a little corrupted. If it's Invictan, though, it's probably an explosive with a note on it telling us to shoot it." Abel reaches the airlock, and opens the outer door. He stands around, right behind the door that leads into the ship and the airlock room exposed to space.

Zera

Zera went closer to the thing, he got behind it and used the power from the bottom of his board to push the unknown object at the ship.  He got it towards the airlock while giving a thumbs up.  He didn't try to speak and went back to floating around in space, sitting down and looking out at the stars.

She looked on as the stranger pod entered the ship continuing to point her light beams at it. "A gift.." she repeats. That's so curious.

Once the pod rested on the ships bay she was a little nervous to enter the airlock. She began to weld the pieces of steel to the hull of the ship. "If something bad is in that pod were going to need this ship in working order" thinking to herself.

"It's definitely not cute.." she repeated on the intercom. She saw Zera take off. Wondered why he looked at the stars so often. "Maybe he's a romantic type?" She thought.

As the object was fit into the airlock and Abel saw Zera give a thumbs up on the screen right outside the airlock, Abel closed the airlock and studied the rock as air filled the airlock. He opens the airlock door, and he finds himself curious as to what the gift could be that was so huge. It probably barely fit through the doors on the ship. Giving it a tap with his knuckles, he finds it's hard, and then feels slightly stupid at expecting otherwise. Doubting he can lift it even with the support of the other two, he goes to grab a 4kg/10 pound sledgehammer from the storage room, which was just a room down from the airlock. A little overkill, maybe, but it's worth it, Abel thinks to himself. Coming back, he stares at the large object sitting in the airlock. With the suit and helmet on, there's no risk to him of getting cut. He steps into the airlock and closes the door, not removing the air or gravity from the room or opening the outer door. He lifts the sledge, getting a proper grip, then lowers it to his feet.

Swinging it forward then using the momentum to go backward and then over his head, he grunts heavily as the head of the hammer smashes into the obsidian, breaking and shattering plenty of shards on the top half of the object, but not enough to reveal what's inside. He does so again with another grunt, breaking every piece of obsidian in the way.

With the shattering blows of the sledgehammer breaking open the stone-like shell, as the final blow pressed enough pressure on the joints of the inner frame of the ship, the rest of the sections of obsidian divided with a loud crack and the vessel fell apart. From it fell a large beast and spilled a large pool of cold, blue viscous fluid. Upon coming into contact with light, the fluid started a transition into becoming a fine powder.

The beast sat silent at their feet for a moment, letting them ponder before it's pincer twitched and it's muscles tensed. A low groan grew louder from the depths of it'so torso until a stream of the fluid and some mucous ejected from its mandibles.

Ragged breathing followed, but it still remained in slumber, for the moment.

Zera

Zera was just sitting in the vacuum, he took out a book and started drawing the stars.  'By this i'm pretty far from Orios.......I wonder how it's doin-NOPE!  NOPE!  That place is off my to do list.......I could really go for a drink.'  He thought before deciding to go check out with the others, he entered the ship and just watched from a camera in the airlock.  He studied from the camera with wide eyes "I've never seen one of these things........"

"...It's not a gift. It's not a normal gift. It's another alien, and I've never heard of or seen it in my entire life either." He stares at the monster. "He's alive, unconscious but appears to be coming to. Stay away from here, the two of you." He takes a few steps back, getting far enough from it's claw and arm so Abel can't get grabbed once it wakes.

(You guys are confusing me. I'm uncertain if Leena is still repairing the hull or inside with Abel. Just to clarify, Abel is standing in the airlock alone with the creature, so if Zera were to see it, it would be through a camera in the airlock and a small screen outside of the airlock but inside the ship.)

She feels a very low resonating sound throughout the ship shortly before Abel tells them to stay out of the airlock. "W-what?" She says worried still patching up the ship. The laser radiating a pulsing light reflecting on her helmets lens.

"Get out of there Abel.. I don't think whatever is in that pod is friendly.." she says through the intercom. "Let's eject the thing and get out of here. I'm almost finished!" She said beginning to panic.

As he stares at the beast before him, Abel considers his options. He could just open the airlock and toss the two of them out of the ship and then fly back in. But he can't... His morals won't let him. He can't do it. It isn't right, he can't. But he can... If the beast escaped from this room, there'd be little hope for Leena. Nobody would have to die. Nobody would be dead. Nobody should be dead because of him. All he'd need to do, is, just, press the button... Abel jolts at the feeling of the button pressing against his suited hand. He almost pressed it. He lowers his hand back down, both hands firmly gripping the sledgehammer. Nobody should be dead because of his mistakes. He raises the sledgehammer to his shoulder. After a long pause, Abel says "No. We can't be sure. I would've left the airlock, but he might wake up as the door is opening. He's called a gift. I hope he remembers he is one when he wakes."

The eyes, black and lifeless suddenly began to brighten with an azure light. A mechanical hum coming from the monster, which seemed to be augmented with cybernetics. The world opened up to the carver, which began to slowly register the area around it. It planted its leathery knuckles against the metal flooring and lifted itself onto its knees with a low distorted grunt, the powder blanketing on it spilling off through the creases between organics and machine, through the valleys between its hulking muscle. I lived.. I have been judged pure...  After sitting up, it looked at the creature before it and gave off a tired sigh. A weapon. Blunt, it would actually be effective had it and it's wielder been a little bit bigger. Now it was just a foot talon masher.

Half of it was depressed, it knew that it's siblings were likely dead or still lost. It had grown so close to them. It seemed only a moment before it was being put to sleep by the mastermind.. Watching the empress caress its face for the honor only she would grant it. The other half.. Well... It was a carver. But even though tearing through this creature was almost to enticing to bear, its training kicked in. It's enemy, and anyone who could've have avenged the enemy. Their families, everything related to his enemy, had been scorched off the face of the planet it was sent to. This was not it's enemy, at least not yet, it wasn't possible.

Planting it's foot on the ground  with it's hand over it's thigh, it held it's tail back in a striking pose and held it's claw out to the creature in an offering. A hoarse, bone jolting bark came from the carver, giving him an ultimatum- The claw, an offering of respectful peace, or the tail, death. Usually it would offer it's hand for peace, but it felt so cramped in there. A good example of why only one carver was needed to destroy a ship of this size, assuming its a suicide mission.

Glancing between the two outstretched limbs, he wonders what the alien's intentions are. At the very least, it isn't mindless or stupidly hostile, as it hasn't begun attacking immediately and it's cybernetics suggest intelligence. He lowers the sledgehammer from his shoulder, still wary and ready to press the button behind him, but he lays the sledgehammer down on the floor. He looks up at the face of the creature to read it's expression, then back down. He knows that at the very least, the tail is a no-go. Most creatures don't like their tails being touched. It could also be the being asking Abel how he wants to die, he thinks, either by being strangled or by being cut to pieces. After a few seconds, he decidedly reaches out to the claw and firmly holds onto it, before letting go and looking back up at it.

Fusing the last pieces of steel and reinforcing the edges she depresses the intercom on the side of her helmet "Abel?" She calls only to hear back static she attempts again "Zera?" Maybe he could pick up her signal through his antenna? Then rolling her eyes at herself at how that could even be possible.

She started quickly towards a repair hatch after collecting the borrowed tools and started towards the airlock; running. Panic began to take over her which made her pant heavier.

The airlock door comes into view her light illuminating the entrance and the control panel and camera view screens which reveal the alien passenger in the pod towering above Abel. He was holding the controls too. Why hadn't he pressed it already?

She suddenly doesn't know what to do. Surely she could simply open the airlock from the outside. Abel has booster gear on after all. Do I just.. stand here? Sing a song?! She places her hand on the 'airlock main open' button. "Dammit Abel.. you'll thank me for this later" perhaps it was a reaction to her panic. Maybe she wants to at least live a little longer or maybe it was the size of that creatures razor like claws. She pressed the button.

Taking out her pistol she reloads it and holds it with both hands at her waist taking a few steps back from the door. "If he gets out of there alive he'll open this door.." she assured herself "...or maybe that 'thing' will 'rip' through this door and have me for breakfast"

The carver found himself pleasantly surprised by the outcome, the creature dropping their weapon and grabbing onto it's outstretched pinser. Albeit, he was a tad anxious, it could tell in the way it moved, but it was understandable. Most creatures were anxious when in the presence of a carver. It let it's tail relaxed and dropped its arm to its side giving a hum of cheerful tone before trying to stand, ending up greatly hunched over for the ship was fairly small.

As he stood hunched over the man, a groan came from his stomach. He was hungry, typical of him to exit his stasis hungry as hell. He looked to his belly and then the man and gave a hearty chortle. It was funny, such a tense situation to end like that.

He grinned under his helmet, happy for both his life and for the fact that the beast isn't hostile, as it begins to stand and hum cheerfully. Then, it's stomach begins to grumble, and Abel goes from a grin to a heavy laugh, his shoulders relaxing. Then, the room begins to depressurize in order to open the outer door. "Wait wait wait, what the hell's happening?!" Abel quickly turns and starts slamming on the 'pressurize room' button, the ship stopping the process and then refilling the room with oxygen. He takes a moment to breathe before speaking loudly into his communicator. "What the hell's happening, Leena? Did you just try to open the airlock door? Didn't I say to stay away from the airlock?" He turns back around to look at the creature, hoping that it understands what happened as a misunderstanding rather than an act of betrayal.

Zera

Zera just watched the two talk, tilting his head when he heard Leena's message.  Yes his antennas could pick up radio signals.  Problem was he couldn't send them back, only listen.  For now he just sat down on the floor, letting his board float up and down on its own 'Wonder what that thing is..........'

Leena rose her weapon at the door bracing herself for anything. Everything. She was ready, sweat coming down her face and dripping from her chin. Breathing heavily in what was a mixture of panic and determination.

Suddenly breaking the silence in her helmet she hears Abels voice but not in the way she expected.. he sounded infuriated. Infuriated at her.

She lowered her weapon her voice in denial "w-what do you mean?!" Her voice a bit raising in pitch but not volume "...I'm saving you!" She continued "I saw that thing raise its claws and tail at you.. i.. i.. I thought you froze.. couldn't move.." realizing the more she spoke the dumber she sounded "Ugh.." More like she didn't trust in Abels judgement maybe she didn't even trust herself.

She sighs in frustration "...oops...".
