The Idiotic Prince Of Nekos
Opening post

Muffin

Muffin looked over at her mother, who was standing by the road. She walked over to Shadow. "Shadow, where are the people?" She asked him. She sat down, and waited for an answer.

Shadow

Shadow sat there in the cold, wet grass. He quietly growled at the humans, who were long gone by now. He looked down at Muffin, "I don't know." He told her, truthfully. He lied down, the dampness of the grass meeting his face. He quietly wished he had never been part of that family, or rather a tool to that family.

Lily

Lily stared at the darkness of the road, and felt the cold grass on her paws. She sighed, "We'd better find a place to stay." She said, walking toward the dog, and her kitten. When she got over there, she licked Muffin on top of the head. Then, turned to face Shadow,"Which way should we go?" She asked him.

Chris

Chris turned and walked away from the house mentally cursing the humans. He was tired of being moved around. It was time for him to matters onto himself. He walked into the forest knowing that Sluki was following close behind.

Sluki

Sluki sat in the yard until Chris got up. She stood and followed but said nothing she knew they'd be okay. Humans or no they would survive, so into the forest they trod.

Muffin

Muffin tilted her head slightly, "But, I thought you knew everything." She said. Then, she smelt something that caught her attention. She stepped toward the woods nearby, and sniffed the air, she didn't know what it was, and she didn't care. She walked into the woods, and looked around.

Shadow

Shadow shook his head, "No, I don't know everything, and no, I don't know where to go." He said. Then, for some reson, he looked over, and noticed Muffin was gone. He stood up, and looked over at Lily, "Muffin's gone!" He said.

Lily

Lily got a very worried expresion on her face. "Gone?! How could she be gone?!" She looked all around. "She must have gone into the forest." She said, heading that way.

Algernon scampered through the forest, looking for something to do. He nibbled on a blade of grass as he waited for some entertainment. He was bored, to say the least. His life had been much more exciting at the lab, even with scientists doing all kinds of crazy experiments on him and using him to test dangerous chemicals--not caring if he were to live or die. But at least back then he'd had something to do all day and someone to keep him company.

He perked up when he heard several sets of footsteps approaching, hoping that none of them were those of a cat.

Muffin

Muffin sniffed the ground, maybe what she smelt was. . .a mouse? She looked around, and mewed. She began following the smell again, she really wanted to find out what it was.

Django

The hound trotted alongside the base of the wall the black feline was marching on. His ears perked forward, trying to listen to his partner jabber on. He turned his head away from the cat and sniffed the air, he could smell others near by. If he tried hard enough there was the faint smell of garbage, his stomach rumbled at the scent of garbage. Django was new to the stray thing, and his first attempts had nearly killed him, he was still trying to get back the weight.

Salem

Salem strolled along on the top of the wall. "There's a food place not too far from here, the human there tosses out spoiled food, but with a little digging I'm usually able to find something good, if not there's always this colorful stuff on the gross spongy things. It doesn't sit well with me if I eat a ton, but it doesn't ki-" The feline glanced down to find his trainee a few feet behind and sniffing the air, he sucked in a breath through his teeth and rolled his eyes. "Are you even listening to me?"

Algernon stood up on his hind legs, sniffing the air. Did he just hear . . . a cat? He froze, considering his options.

He could run. Sure, he had practically no chance of outrunning a cat, but if the feline didn't yet know he was there, then maybe he had a chance.

Or maybe he should stick around and see if he could have a little fun, Tom and Jerry style, by messing with the cat and teasing it.

He chose the second option.

Algernon selected a nearby tree and began to climb, deciding that he at least deserved the advantage of higher ground.

Chris

Chris stopped and signaled silently for Sluki to do the same. He sniffed the air there were several other animals nearby. But not just animals their scents were mingled with that of humans, betraying the fact they were not from the wood. Slowly he crept forward head down.

Sluki

Sluki was a little surprised when they stopped. She had been so busy focusing on othre thins that she didn't realize the other scents until then. When Chris slunk onward she stay where she was knowing that she was pretty easy to spot.

Muffin

Muffin ran faster, she could tell that she was near the source of the smell. She ran up to a tree, and sniffed it. She knew the smell wasn't the tree, but something that had touched it. Her mother had taught her about tracking while they lived in the big house. She looked around for the actual source of the odd smell.

Lily

Lily had run ahead of Shadow, she was in the woods sniffing at everything. "Muffin!? Muffin?!" She called, but there was no answer. She continued sniffing, searching, and calling.

Shadow

Shadow was falling behind the cat, he ran faster to catch up with her. "Calm down Lily." He said. "She's got to be around here somewhere." He stuck his nose to the ground, and sniffed. He got the trail, and howled. "I've got her. She's this way." He said, starting to run again.

Django

He opened his eyes at the sudden smack at the side of his head. He noticed the woods and had a strong urge to head towards it. It reminded him of the farm he was born on. Django could still remember the place vividly, it was over grown with various plants, tall grass, and weeds, mainly because the owner was so old he couldn't care for it all. "What about there? Surely we could find something to eat there."

Salem

He paused, turning his head towards the forest and remembering how close they were to the end of the city. "What? In there? I've found a couple of mice there once or twice, but it ain't easy." He slipped down onto the ground and under the dog's legs. "Suppose it's worth a shot... maybe you'll have some self discovery moment or whatever and find out you can hunt. Follow me and try not to get killed, Spot." He called over his shoulder as he headed towards the woods.

Django

He followed Salem until they entered, suddenly their positions switched and Django found himself leading his partner towards whatever living thing they could find in hopes of getting a meal.

Algernon heard the cat at the base of the tree. He came out of hiding from behind a leaf to view the creature. He froze when he saw that it was not some big, scary, feline threat, but instead it was just a small, curious kitten. He felt bad at the idea of teasing it now, so he moved back into hiding, hoping that the feline had not seen him.

Bonnie was crouched high in a tree where she could see everything in her surroundings. She spotted several mice, but never went after them. They were too far away from each other, there was no way she could get them all. She could see a small kitten wander into the forest, a pure white rat attempt to crawl up her tree, then slide back down to gaze upon the unsuspecting kitten. What was a kitten doing out in the wilderness? And for that matter, a white rat? This place just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Slowly she started slipping down the tree on the other side of the rat so as not to alert it. Already planning this poor rat's demise. (Don't worry, I won't actually hurt Algernon)

Shadow

Shadow ran a little further,, and spotted Muffin. He walked over to her with her mother close behind. He looked down at the little kitten. "Don't run off again, you had Lily worried sick." He said.

Muffin

Muffin thought she had seen something move in the tree. But, right as she was about to climb it, Shadow came out of some brush, along with Muffin's mother. She looked up into the trees, she would have to search again later.

Lily

Lily ran close behind Shadow, they walked through some thick brush, and there was Muffin, about to climb a tree. She walked over to the little kitten, and licked her on top of the head. "Come on, we still need a place to stay." She said.

Bonnie looked around, saw a dog and another cat, looked like the kitten, it's mother maybe? They ran into the forest and started to herd the kitten of, saying they had to find shelter. "Shelter?" She said as she stepped around the trees. "You have all the shelter you could ever want here." She gestured around her with her tail, gazing upon the three new animals. "You're new to the homeless business, aren't you?"

Muffin

Muffin was about to walk off with her mother, and their dog fried when, a cat stepped out from behind a tree, and asked if they were homeless. She tilted her head, "Homeless?" She asked. She looked over at Shadow, and Lily. "What's homeless?"

Lily

Lily looked over at the cat, and then at Muffin. "Being without a home." She said. Then, she looked back at the cat, "You don't look like a wild cat." She said. "Were you homeless too?" She stayed away from the other female, not wanting to start a fight.

Shadow

Shadow stood back, but stood tall, to look big, and intimadating. So, that the cat didn't feel like attacking, he stood further back to not seem like he was going to attack, unless she made the first move. Because, if he looks like he's going to attack first, that might make the cat feel threatened enough to hurt Lily, Muffin, or even maybe him. He didn't know anything about this cat, and he wasn't taking risks.

Back out of the forest, a shoebox was just sitting in the road, minding its own business. A speeding car rushed by it, sending the box whizzing away from the car's passing. The box twitched, then jumped all over the place as its occupant began a war dance, challenging whatever made its box suddenly fly around. The box continued jumping around until its occupant finally worked its way out, huffing from the exertion. Drake, jumped around a few more times for good measure, then began trotting around, looking for his owners.

"Is this a new game? Tag? Oh! Is this hide and seek! I'm good at this game!"

Quickly looking around for a place a big human could hide, the ferret spotted the forest which loomed over him. Guessing that hiding in the forest would be the best place to hide, he ran towards the trees with the hopping run all ferrets had, hunting for his absent owners.

Falkor plodded along, Phoenix flying overhead.

"Phoenix! I smell something!" Falkor stopped and Phoenix swooped down and landed in front of him.

"What is it Falkor? What is it that you smell?"

"Animals. Lots of animals. And not woodsy animals either. Human companions. But what are they doing HERE?!" Falkor plopped down like a giant furry boulder. Phoenix backed up a couple of steps.

"Easy there, Falkor. Earthquake! Earthquake!" Phoenix squawked. However, Falkor payed no attention because he was concentrating on the different smells. His herding dog background didn't give him the best nose, but he could distinctly smell a few cats, dogs, and even a mouse. He was also starting to detect...a ferret?! Things were getting weird.

Seeing Falkor's expression, Phoenix was worried. "What is it Falkor?"

"We need to investigate." Falkor jumped to his feet and started trotting ahead, with purpose. Phoenix, knowing not to mess with a 130 lb Great Pyrenees, took to the sky and followed his furry friend. Falkor reached the edge of the woods quickly, as even though he is big, he can move when he wants to.

He enters the forest, Phoenix perched on his back, and intrudes on a scene he'll never forget. He sits back on his haunches, Phoenix moving to his head, and observes, wondering if anyone will notice the strange couple.

Chris

Chris spotted the other animals he'd smelt though he was still a safe distance away. Three cats and a dog. He wondered what the cats were doing so near a dog, he'd never seen the two groups get along. Thinking back he'd seen dogs chase cats, and attack them. And some cats scratch up dog muzzles pretty well. But never them both sitting around together. When the scene simply got odder, a very large dog with a bird sitting in it appeared. They were across the way from Chris though.

Sluki

Sluki was getting tired of waiting when she turned and saw something small and long run into the forest(Drake). Curiosity won out after a moment and she gave chase. She wouldn't hurt the little animal unless it attacked, but she wanted to know what it was.

Lily

Lily noticed Shadow's defencive stance, she walked closer to him, and licked his leg. "Aww, you want to protect me, you're so cute!" She said. She purred, and rubbed against his leg.

Shadow

Shadow looked down at the cat, and if he wasn't covered in fur, you'd see his blushing plain as day. His stance fell, and he lied down.

Bonnie laughed, "I don't look like a wild cat? Well, I can guarantee you I am one. I've been a wild cat most of my life. And don't give me a pitiful look, I like it this way." She looked on the three animals, a slightly piteous look in her eyes. "I'm sorry for ya'll. You'll have to learn to live with your new life. Welcome to the woods, everybody." She turned and clawed her way up the tree once more, the white rat forgotten in the light of new animals arriving on the scene. She opened her mouth and let the air rush over her scent glands. Dog, obviously- Four different dogs. Cats, including herself, and was that a parrot?

Muffin

Muffin sniffed under a pile of leaves, she stuck her paws underneath, and tried to get whatever the smell was coming from. She put her paw on top o something, that wiggled under her paw pads. She drug it out, and looked closely at it. It was some sort of bug. She pawed at it, and played with it, until she got bored. She picked it up in her mouth, and started chewing on it. She swallowed it, even though it tasted kind of gross. Then, she got back to sniffing around, and looking for something to do.

((I'm gonna be making another character! Must.have.four! . . . Just a heads up.))

Algernon heard the sounds of more animals at the base of the tree. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but by their tones, he could tell that they were probably the parents of the kitten, or something similar, which meant that they were probably all cats—all threats. Now he was in trouble. If one of the parents wanted to catch their little kitten a meal, then Algernon was dead meat—literally. He had to get out of there.

He started to climb down the tree—slowly, stealthfully—hoping that nobody would notice him there.

(@explosiveKitten Algernon is a mouse, not a rat.)

(Yes, I realize, but Bonnie wouldn't know.)

Bonnie cast her gaze at the kitten, just in time to see her eat a bug. She glanced back and forth between the larger female cat and the kitten, then sighed and sat, wrapping her tail around her paws. She could hear something scurrying down her tree behind her, but she didn't turn her head. Probably just some stupid squirrel with a death wish.

((gees i leave for one night and you guys get three pages :P ))

Ashes~

I was running around the forest near my human's house looking for something to do when i started smelling all these weird smells, smells i'd never smelled before. so like any curious young fox he took off after them. "oooooooh, i wander what they are!" i said excitedly bouncing through the forest "some smell like me but not like me.... i cant wait!"

Completely unaware he was now being followed, Drake continued searching for his owners. "Runningrunningrunningrunningrunning LOOK!" He screeched to a halt, his head swiveling all over, his nose working to find a human scent. His human's scents. He didn't find them, but a lot of dogs and cats around here. He didn't know much about the wild, but he didn't think that animals were this concentrated. Oh well, back to searching! "Runningrunningrunningrunningrunningrunning!"
