A Vacation to Remember

The vulpine shook his head slightly when Judy began to put eye-liner on. 'Who is she trying to impress?' he thought to himself, with not a single idea that she was actually doing so for him. Had he known that, he would have been blushing just as much as she just did. But the truth was that she didn't need eye-liner or anything of the sort to be attractive to Nick. He found her to be the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid eyes upon. Though the secretly romantic fox would never admit that. "Not a beach bunny, yet we are going on a cruise that will stop at the tropics?" Nick replies with an amused smile on his face. "You really are a strange, dumb bunny."

Nick noticed her ears lowering slightly and knew that was a sign that she was not quite at 100%. She might seem fine on the outside, but lowered ears meant something was wrong on the inside. This time, however, Nick didn't really need to guess to know what was bothering her. He walked over and patted Judy on the shoulder gently, before placing his paw under her chin and forcing eye contact. "Just because you grew up in the country doesn't make you boring. You've already made my life more exciting than any other animal I can remember. Growing up in the country made you tough. Me? I just grew up on the streets. I am 32, remember? I am nearly 10 years your senior. I know I look amazing for 32, but I just don't have the energy of a young fox anymore."

Nick didn't really like talking about his age. Growing old on the street was practically a death wish. The minute you were to old to protect yourself, shit hit the fan. Nick extends a paw to Judy and waits until she takes it before leading them out of the hotel room and onto the bustling streets of Zoo-York.

"And you really are a odd clever fox" the rabbit retorted, absentmindedly hooking her arm inside Nick's and strolling out the door into Zooyork City. Man oh man, it was nothing like home to her. "How can animals stay up all night long?" she huffed. The city that never sleeps really stayed true to it's name. The neon lights reflecting off her iris's, making Judy's eyes beam like far away starts in the midnight horizon. All she could here was beeping and other animals yelling at each other.

Judy saved her conversation for probably not the best time. Her ears were drowning in sound, much more than Nick's.
"Nick!" she shouted. "Your thirty two?! So! I'm twenty six! Big deal! Of course you have the energy of a young fox you dummy! Iv'e seen you chase down animals on duty faster than any fox I know!" as she went on. "But thanks! I feel a little better! But your the most entertaining! Most energetic guy I know! Age isn't important!" Judy jumped up and lightly smacked him on the top of his had to tease.

"Come on!" she tugged him towards an ice-cream stand. Her first thought of when they first met. That huge elephant stand, full of germs and cream. She remembered that cute little fuzzy kid who was, "Nick's son" and of course the rusty colored fox himself. She was betrayed that day, tricked into thinking someone could have been so nice and be a fox. However, this was now. Nick was a sweetheart deep down. The world had pushed him down and just recently did Judy offer a smaller paw to drag him out of the mud. She couldn't put her paw on it, but she loved him deep down. More so than if he was a bunny like her. Something about him she adored. And she just couldn't figure out why quite yet. Let alone dare express her feelings for him.

"No, please, don't stop." The fox whispers right into her ear. "Keep the praise coming. Tell me how amazing I am. You know I love to be praised..." The fox says, right before she smacks him on his head. He chuckles lightly and just shakes his head, reaching up to rearrange any fur that may have been displaced from her slap. The fox honestly did love her praise; it made him feel important. It was nice to know that his partner in crime thought that way of him. Although to be honest there were times when he felt old. Like during his academy training for example, he found it difficult to keep up with all those twenty year olds. Although he had been able to keep up in the end. It was just hard on him.

Nick just smiles and follows after Judy when she turns to head for the ice-cream stand. His thoughts immediately went to their first meeting as well. Although he had been incredibly rude to her later on that day, telling her that she would never be a real cop, the truth was that even their first meeting had changed him. Or at least had put him on the road to changing. All it took was this one bunny to pay for his "sons" jumbo-pop, and treat him like an actual animal instead of just a lying evil fox. That one act of kindness alone was enough to make Nick double-think his life choices.

Now he was here, beside that same bunny who had changed him so radically in such a small amount of time. Did he love her? Yes, yes he did. Absolutely. He would never tell her that, but it was there all the same. The way she bounced as she walked, the never-ending stream of conversation that the two could carry on, the way her beautiful eyes sparkled in the moonlight...
'Ugh stop it you idiot' the fox thinks to himself with a shake of his head.

Soon enough it was their turn to order and Nick got a caramel and vanilla ice-cream with pralines in it.

"Knock it off Nick. I think you had enough praise during the academy. Where would have you been without me?" she jested. Judy was a big part of Nick passing the ZPD academy, although she had no doubts he would have passed by himself regardless. She couldn't help but notice a huge factor during his training. He excelled at all written parts and tests given by the ZPD cadet's training camp. But he lacked in physical areas. Just as she did. Being so small was a factor in its own. However she noticed he was a quick runner, like most foxes in the wild. In the primitive times foxes could always catch them, given a dead sprint at least.

The rabbit had bought a carrot-cone, of course. It was a sugar cone shaped carrot, with an orange food dye coating all over the vanilla. She gave it a joyful little lick from her tiny pink tongue and approved without hesitation. She put a paw on her hip, leaning to the side while she gave the city a good look.
"You know, I could get use to all this noise. Kidding" she rolled her eyes, ice cream falling on to the ground from her hipped stance. "Oh. Well that happened. So what next!" she hopped on his chest, holding his tie.

The other thing that Nick excelled at during his academy days, aside from foot-races where he absolutely destroyed every other recruit, were tests which involved his senses. Foxes had two very useful things; night vision, and extremely precise hearing. Their hearing was accurate enough to hear a mouse squeak at 320 feet and hear a watch tick at 120. So he had that going for him. And retractable claws! Foxes are the only member of the canine family with retractable claws. Honestly, foxes are like a weird dog/cat hybrid...

"Ahem..." Nick mutters while gently picking the bunny up off of his chest and placing her right back on the ground. Animals walking by were giving them weird looks. A few mutters of 'bunny and fox couple? Haha' were within their hearing ranges. Nick just shakes his head and places a paw on Judy's shoulder, smiling at her happily. "Well Judes, I am not overly sure. I don't want to go to a night club. Any festivals on this time of year?"

Judy's rather large ears could pick up even the slightest whisper of gossip shared by the animals around them. Were they really mocking them as a couple? They weren't even dating? "Animals really think that way just because were friends?" she thought. Than again, in 2016 an animal paired female and male were assumed dating. Who had regular friends that are girls anyway? The world simply didn't work that way apparently. It slightly bothered the poor bunny, but she remained absent minded of the subject, giving Nick a genuine smile from her tiny cotton candy pink lips.

"I want..." she looked over biting her lip. What the hell did she want? A romantic dinner? No, she had to keep those thoughts at bay. "Dancing. Take me dancing Nick. But not at a club like you said. Too many doopy animals who smell like beer and sex" he cheeks became flush as she gave the fox a half gaze, blushing at the use of the word, "sex." She couldn't really help it, she was horrible sheltered. There was no such thing as sneaking back in the barn with the local cute bunny boy and rolling around in the hay. Her parents were hawks. Well, rabbits. But some how, some way. Those two could keep all two hundred something of that family in line. As much as she'd never admit, she never related to another animal sexual. Judy only had hardcore girl crushes and the make out behind the theater Stu and his wife would never know about. Or so they did when she got caught.

A lose slip of her tongue as she went to speak, still navigating around in her thoughts with no where to go.
"Wana make out?" she gave him a goofy look, sticking out her tongue. Remembering back when she was able to kiss that rabbit behind the parking lot near the out door movie showing. Of course she was kidding. "I'm only kidding tiger" she shot him a sly ass look. "Nah. How about you pick. After all your the genius." she employed.

Nick, on the other paw, had been completely unsheltered for most of his life, since the age of twelve. During his time on the streets he had seen a great many things, many adult things as well, and have dated a large number of girls. Even some of other species. Yet one thing always remained the same; he could never seal the deal. That is, have sex. He was sure that he could if he wanted too... But he didn't want too. He felt absolutely no emotional attachment to any animal, and as such him breaking up with them was about as easy as 1, 2, 3. By the time he was 17, Nick had completely lost interest in romantic relationships of any kind. And honestly, they only got in the way of his not-quite-legal lifestyle.

Up until Judy showed up. Not only had she pulled him out of his illegal lifestyle, she had actually caught his attention. He was interested in her. He thought about her constantly. Whenever she was around him, he felt happy.

Her request to go dancing caught him by surprise. It sounded extremely sincere. Yet then she covered it up and asked him to pick something to do instead. He ignored the comment about making out, although he did blush slightly. "... Come with me, Carrots." The fox says while spinning around and heading right back the way they came. After a brief discussion, Nick sends Judy up to their room so that he can privately talk with the service-counter animal at their hotel. His only request is that she throw on a nice dress.

30 minutes later and the two of them are at a fancy restaurant. Nick was wearing a purple collared shirt, long-sleeve, with black jeans. This was a restaurant where, at any time, the two could go out on the dance floor. And right now it was pretty empty. There were maybe... 12 couples on the floor? Out of room for 100? They were all mostly night animals out here. Nick felt right at home.

The server quickly finds them a table.

Judy's eyes rose to attention when Nick hastily decided to grab her paw and drag her back to the hotel. At first Judy thought he took her plea about making out seriously, it only reddened her grey cheeks. "S-slow down Nick geeze!" as she was dragged alone. He was a fox on a mission, and to what he didn't know. She gazed up at him standing in front of the counter, watching the snow leopard at the front desk speak with Nick until he shooed her away, requesting that she'd put on a dress. "A dress? Seriously? Did I pack...I don't think?? Oh god...it's one of mom's dresses when she was thinner..." the marsupial gulped and ascended the stairs.

As Judy un-clicked the bands of her suitcase she could spot a small piece of fabric poking out from the side. There is was, that ugly....ugly thing. It was the dress Judy wore to prom, the same one she'd remembered kissing that rabbit in that night. Reflecting back on it the other girls made fun of her in that dull looking thing. Maybe it was her looks? She never thought herself gorgeous? But maybe she was? Nick made her feel that way, even when he wasn't talking anything about it.
"Well. If you don't put it on now, you'll never put it on" Judy sighed. Locking the door the bunny threw her clothes in a corner, wearing her black bra and panties before throwing on the flowing rags. "Fingers crossed..." she sucked in a bunch of air and puffed out her chest. "Who am I kidding?.." she sighed the rest of the air out and made her way down.

Peeking out from the door way she spotted an orange fox, they weren't alone. Many other animals roamed about, some dancing while others ate and talked. Apprehensively Judy made her way to Nick, not feeling as though she was walking on any red carpet.
"Hi..." she turned her face away, paws behind her back. She was wearing a white dress, in the back was a large zipper with a large carrot from top to half way down her back. In the front there was lace. It was just a simple dress and nothing more.
