town called malice
the jam
overview.
W
olfhorn Creek, Virginia, November 1994. The secluded little town is no more to its tightly-knit population than it is a mildly scenic stop to those on their way to a greater destination. Itβs awfully vacant and a forgotten, listless town situated smack-dab in the middle of nowhere as far as anyoneβs concernedβitβs also home to terrifying creatures that live in the shadows.
Itβs uncertain exactly when it started, but the first disappearances can be traced back to a few monthβs prior. Whether they wandered too deep into the woods and were never seen since, or the townβs vastness compelled them to desire more on their own, people have gone missing left and right leaving their life and all their belongings behindβand it hasnβt ended. The people of Wolfhorn Creek have began to vanish under strange circumstances, and only few believe they have the answer. While some believe these people have been murdered, others will say the town itself is haunted. Wolfhorn Creek is no stranger to the unexplainable and the story-worthy, but nothing this unusual has ever occurred. These things just donβt happen there, not to the knowledge of those who live there. The resulting curfew and the eventual departure of many of its residents leaves Wolfhorn Creek quieter than its ever been. Since then, itβs left what was once a peaceful community to become a rumored cursed town, where itβs as deadly silent as a ghost town after dusk.
Those who have survived claim to have seen the monsters that live in the woods. What else would explain the demise of Wolfhorn Creek?
Theyβve seen monsters, and theyβre just as certain they werenβt dreaming. Whether it be at the foot of their bed, in their own backyard, or hiding in the woods, theyβve narrowly escaped from the ravenous jaws of a monster. Whatβs more, theyβre not alone.
Now itβs time to find out where theyβre coming from, and how to stop them. Now itβs time to fight back.

wolfhorn creek
setting
Situated among dense woods and muddy lakes, Wolfhorn Creek and its lowly 5,351 residents is a relatively quiet town that has something in the way of notoriety. Although the illustrious and scenic forests on the outskirts of town make a great place to set up camp, it rarely gets tourists. Besides unhappy residents, youth that dream of someplace better, and dying local businessesβthe town holds an eerie reputation for its headlines, strange sightings, and horrifying stories that have emerged from within a town full of dark secrets. The people of Wolfhorn Creek will say itβs nothing more than peaceful there, while others seem to disagree.
the mystery
story
Our story follows a group who are subject to whatβs been happening in Wolfhorn Creek, as they uncover dark secrets and investigate the whereabouts of these monsters. The mystery lies in their originβwhere do they keep coming from, and how do you stop them? The majority of plot details are subject to change as time goes on, but overall Iβd like equal mystery and horror elements in this story.
the monsters
creatures
As of late, legends of mysterious sightings have resurfaced, of otherworldly creatures that are alleged to have appeared in the woods and in the small town, bringing death and madness in their wake. Different people have made wildly different claims with only some consistencies; according to these claims, sightings have only occurred after dusk with the exception of one story. Reports of unusual animals or strange noises are all over Wolfhorn Creek and its surrounding areas. The farthest claimed sighting is within five miles of the townβs premises. Whatever these things are, theyβve been terrorizing residents for months.
the outsiders
characters
As mentioned in the premise, our characters have seen one of these monsters once before. How they go about it and whether they believe what they saw is entirely up to the players. Characters may be residents of Wolfhorn Creek as well as visitors. Iβll go over specifics when the character thread is created, but I would like to say that our characters know almost nothing of the monsters other than the glimpses theyβve had already. I thought of them as a group of people who eventually join together after realizing they share that experience.
rules
rules.
rule one.
Abide by all RPN rules. Iβd like to preface the darker themes Iβm hoping to explore with this roleplayβit will include the obvious violence, death, gore, ect.
rule two.
This will be a literate/advanced roleplay with correct grammar, spelling, and minimal errors as a requirement. I do not want one-liners or few sentence replies, and Iβd like to see description and effort included in replies with at least a good 3+ paragraphs for each post.
I donβt expect everyone to be active constantly, but I ask that youβre able to get a post in at least once a week. I also highly encourage those who join to be active and dedicated.
rule three.
This roleplay is application-based and will not be on a first-come first-serve basis, meaning I will be reading each character sheet and deciding which characters will fit best into the setting and the RP. Iβm looking for compelling and driven characters that are based in reality with their own unique flaws and traits. Everyone is welcome to play up to two characters if theyβd like.
rule four.
Iβd love to see collaboration and creativity from players. If this roleplay does well, Iβll open a discord server shortly for ooc chat and plotting.
