Fandom A Strange Alliance

Cassidara’s eyes widened at the mention of the great city-planet. “Wait…we’re going to Corusant???

Coruscant would prove to be a tricky venture for her. Her name would show up like a rash on the police records. Thankfully she had a few fake identities to work with and she had recently changed the markings on her ship (on Corellia, where she had the new thrusters installed). However, it was still a bit risky. If he had to go to Coruscant then he had to go to Coruscant. But he would probably ask all kinds of questions if she suddenly started going by another name.

She started punching in coordinates. “We gotta get out of range of those frigates first before I can even think about going to hyperspace. I need my sensors working again so that we don’t speed ourselves straight into an asteroid or a comet. Let’s just concentrate on getting out of this system first!”

Just then, B9 let out a series of blasts, hitting the wing of one fighter. As luck would have it, it veered to the starboard and struck the fighter that had been approaching from its right. “Yeah! Nice shot, buddy!” Cass exclaimed.

B9 chirped jubilantly.

"Yes, we're going to Coruscant. The Jedi Council must know what happened to one of their own." Malagran responded as he shot more plasma bolts at the incoming Vulture Droids, ending up to take down a few of them with ease. It didn't seem like long ago that he had been chosen to be Kumar's Padawan. He shook his head quickly. No time for remembering the past....I've got to get this thing out of here before those guns destroy it. He thought.

Frantically, Cassidara scanned the space around them. It they stayed here too long, their defenses would be whittled away. If they attempted to go into hyperspace without knowing what was in between… well, one could only imagine. There was a third option, but she hated the thought as soon as she said it.

“There’s room to get out of jamming range if we direct ourselves in the general direction of the core planets and do a very short jump into hyperspace. Unfortunately, it’ll put us directly into Separatist space. But all other avenues are blocked, and I don’t have enough firepower to take on one frigate, let alone two!”

"We're just going to have to turn off all power after the jump through Hyperspace. It's a stretch but it just might be able to work." Malagran said as he destroyed one more Vulture Droid, "You think you can manage it?"

The Padawan hoped Cassie could be able to do it. If not, then he was basically as good as dead if they didn't and weren't able to stop the incoming Separatist Ships. It was a stretch and a gamble.

It was a hell of a risk, but it was better than all of the alternatives. Cass gritted her teeth. “It’s the best option we got, no matter how much I hate it. Alright. Keep ‘em off my tail till I jump will ya? I need thirty seconds. B9… I need to borrow your computer systems. Good thing I have ya plugged in!” Swiftly her fingers moved about, flicking a variety of switches and punching in new numbers.

Just then, a hard blast hit them from the side. Karkin’ hell! A fighter is moving round the back! Malagran… he’s more dangerous than the droids! Can ya bag him??? I need to finish this!!!”

"This is no Droid pilot.... there's someone in there...and they're working with the Separatists." Malagran responded and he started to use the plasma bolts to fire at the incoming shooter. He started to loathe how the enemy fighter dodged around the bolts like it was nothing but he managed to score a direct hit on the wing. "A hit on the wing is all it takes....unless you've got a trusty Astromech Droid at your side." He chuckled quietly. The Jedi Padawan flinched a little then he started to fire more at the fighter, watching in satisfaction on how it started to burn and explode in front of him.

All coordinates were locked and ready. The engines began their familiar rise in pitch as they charged up for hyperspace travel.

“Brace yourselves! Making the jump in 3… 2… 1… now!”

The stars appeared to elongate and stretch toward them as space seemed to warp around the craft. To the inexperienced hyperspace traveler there might have been a brief “falling” sensation in the stomach, but for Cassidara it was just another day… except for the fact that they were shooting right into dangerous territory.

It didn’t take long for Cass to bring them out of hyperspace drive and back to normal engine functions, but as soon as she did, she shut all systems down, with the exception of life supports. Then she sank down into her seat and let out a breath of temporary reprieve.

“That’s that then. We’re in Separatist space. Hopefully the fates will be kind for the time being…”

Malagran let out a sigh of relief then he stood up from the gunners position. "We'll be alright. Trust in the Force." He responded to his compatriot. A slight frown was still on his face as he went to the cockpit and sat down in the co-pilot chair. Closing his eyes a little, he crossed his legs over and he sighed, relaxing his shoulders. "Because of the other systems being offline except the life support, there would be no positive guess or direct answer to if there are any life forms aboard. It'll be like that this ship is useless garbage to the Separatists." Malagran told Cassidara.

Cassidara snorted a little when Malagran mentioned trusting the Force. Okay, she witnessed what it could do first hand… so yes, it probably existed. But was it really something that one could blindly place all of their faith in? Cass still doubted that. She had depended on her own resourcefulness for her whole damned life. Just the idea that something else might be in control of her destiny seemed to take away credit where credit was due.

But it was the use of the Force that saved her life…

She grunted and lightly slapped her own face. Stop with the damn theology! she yelled inside her brain. She threw off her safety harness and ran her fingers through her hair, then glanced over at Malagran. In all the rush she had forgotten… he had lost someone important to him. But, what to say to him? She was no good at comforting others, especially at times like this. But she had to say something. “So… um… now that we’re stopped, maybe you’ll wanna rest a piece… and maybe sort yourself about a bit?”

Yeah… she wasn’t any good at this at all.

"I may have lost my master but I can pull through this. I will make sure she did not die in vain." Malagran responded, "I thank you for your concern, however. I will be fine without rest....I think it is you who should rest. I'll warn you or let you know if there's something among us." He opened his eyes to turn and look at the pilot. She seemed quite young, in his eyes but then again, Malagran couldn't be pointing fingers since he was also young.

Cass moved to glance to her left, trying to make it appear as if she was looking out the window. The truth was that she was looking slightly downward at a compartment where she was currently keeping a bottle of Corellian whiskey, and ohhhhh how she wanted a drink right now! But she was in no position for such a luxury. Nor was she comfortable going to sleep. Although she knew that the Jedi had codes and that he would do his best to keep them safe, she still knew the danger that they were in. But how long were they supposed to sit here?

To stave off her compulsion toward bringing that bottle to her lips, she instead reached for a toothpick and began to chew on it. She sighed deeply. “You know, we are going to have to move eventually,” she told Malagran. “I’m sure that those droids that were left over signaled to someone that we got away. It’s only a matter of time before they send someone.”

"Let's just hope they can't send enough information that they can recognize your ship. It would be a shame for that to happen...." Malagran responded to Cassandra, sighing a little and he started to sit up straight then turned to the pilot again, "You know I don't get you. What's someone of your flight skill doing all the way out here? You could be a great help with my command."

It was a suggestion and an offer at both the same time but the Padawan had a feeling that Cassandra would refuse it so he prepared for that answered.
