Hey there! Now, this would probably be my first official post, besides creating an RP character, but anyway, here's some tips on combat in roleplays!
Step 1: Awareness.
Now, in roleplays, one of the most important things to note, is that there are others with you. Participate. Be sure what you do is fine with everyone. Remember, RP is supposed to be fun for you, but also for everyone.
Step 2: Know Your Weaknesses!
Now, I know people go over this all the time, but these are really important in a combat based roleplay. If your character has weaknesses, acknowledge them! Character afraid of spiders and fighting a spider based character, remember this, and have them freak out, panic, or something along the lines of that. Also, know your character's ability to defend themselves. Don't be a cliche main character, and please remember not to act like one. No blocking all attacks, no walking away from others' attacks like they were nothing.
Step 3: Detail.
Ah this is really important, if you're going for casual or detailed roleplay. If it's gonna be combat based, ya gotta put some effort into your writing skills in means of attacking or defending. Instead of putting "Joe punches Bob before he attacks", put "Joe, seizing the opportunity, strikes Bob in the stomach, staggering him". See how that line sounds much better than the other? Detail. Don't say "Joe dodges". Say "Joe quickly ducks under Bob's attack, rolling under his arm, and turning around to face him" Gotta love that detail.
