Jean Otus
Would-Be Prince
Hello there! I'm Jean, thanks for visiting my recruitment thread. I've been absent from the 1x1 scene for awhile now and I've gotta say I've really been missing it. There's a sort of rapport you develop in these that a group RP doesn't have. This thread will serve as my base in the 1x1 space. It will serve as a receptacle for all the plots I come up with, as well as a station for me to vet all prospective partners. Anyways, some basic info, I'm a 19-year-old college student from the grand old state of Virginia, I study history, politics, and write in my free time. I have a real thing for fantasy, historical, science fiction, classical horror, and romance role-play, as well as some realistic and fandom if I'm in the mood.
As far as writing goes I usually produce 1-4 paragraphs of 6-9 lines each, though I can match whatever my partner posts so long as I'm inspired. That being said, I won't drop below one paragraph unless we're in the middle of a dialogue exchange. I also like to keep my writing grammatically correct, I won't jump down your throat on the matter, but I need to be able to read each response if the role-play is going succeed. As far as my point-of-view character, I prefer them to be male, though I have no problem having side characters of other genders. Similarly, I prefer mxf romances for my POV character, but I have no trouble having side characters of other sexualities. I have no problems with any kind of images being used for appearances or claims, I can even do a full-text description if preferred.
If you're still with me at this point, then you have more patience than most. Or you skipped all my information, cheeky bugger that you are. Regardless, now on to the plots, as I only have a few right now they're in no particular order. If I add more to this thread later I might reorganize them for future convenience. Plots with interchangeable roles will be written in Muse A/B style, whereas plots with a role I want specifically will be written dictating which roles we take.
Papa, I want that one... (Realistic, Mafia, Romance)(CLOSED DUE TO OVERSATURATION)
Muse A is the child of the cities eminent organized crime boss, the Don, the leader of the Mob. Because of this ill-gotten station, there's nothing that his family doesn't get if they want it. The finest in fashion, food, and luxuries all come to the family without delay. They all enjoy the high life with impunity; however, as the Muse A gets older, they start to grow dissatisfied with one particular aspect of their life. Whether they're sitting in their mansion, out on the town, or enjoying a high society party, Muse A is always alone. Their father offers to find them a partner amongst the fine members of his syndicate, but no, the Muse A has their eyes set on one, in particular, only the most eligible partner will do. So, in order to satisfy their child's wishes, the boss goes out and "convinces" their child's desired mate, Muse B, to start dating Muse A. In spite of this coercion, Muse B agrees to date Muse A. Adventures throughout the city ensue as the inorganically started relationship either flowers or dies.
The Demon of the Old Coat (Fantasy, Familiar, Semi-Historical)
Muse A is the child of a famous magician, one whose deeds are known across the country and beyond its borders. Muse A is always thrilled at their stories of people from distant and strange lands who come to ask for their help, or of the kingdoms they travel to when a king calls for the aid of the legendary magician. It comes as a terrible shock when they die, and Muse A is left as the successor to the great legacy. Trying to emulate the late, great, magician, Muse A begins dressing in their old wardrobe and takes a particular liking to their old traveling coat. Muse A pulls the coat around themselves, bolstering their courage, they thrust their hands into the pockets and find something hard, smooth, and warm. Pulling the object out of the pocket, Muse A finds a stone, smooth as glass, black as pitch, and warm as a cup of fresh tea, in the shape of a hen's egg. When Muse A looked at it they heard a voice. Muse B is a Lidérc, a demonic familiar, that served the previous mage and fell dormant when they passed. It is now up to Muse A to make a contract with this demon and fulfill their role as successor to their parent's legacy.
Stranger in a Strange Land (Historical, Japan, Samurai, Sengoku Jidai)
As the great Japanese civil war reached its conclusion in 1600, a strange thing washed up on the shores of Japan. A wrecked Dutch trading vessel, with only 25 surviving crew of the original 461 still aboard. Ten more died within the week, another seven in transit to meet with Japanese officials. Seven more escaped detection and left Japan with outbound Dutch traders. This left only one, William Adams. He threw himself into court life, but he was not alone in this. A young woman, who would eventually become his second wife stood at his side. Little is known about her, other than she was extremely morally upstanding and capable. It can be up to interpretation what her occupation might have been, be that noblewoman, samurai, ninja, or any other present at the time. All that is certain is that she and William stood against the dangers of the time together.
The Life Debt (Historical, Europe, Medieval/Fantasy, Romance)
Muse A is many things, mercenary, bandit, and ruthless warrior, but above all, they pay their debts. After a battle goes particularly poorly, Muse A is gravely wounded and barely escapes the field with their life. They surely would have bled to death had it not been for Muse B, a hardworking farmer in a nearby village. Out of sheer goodness, they dress the wounds of the strange soldier they find and nurse them back to health. Muse A, bound by their code of honor, pledges the rest of their life to protecting the little farm and everyone who calls it home.
For the Love of God? (Historical, Europe, Medieval/Fantasy, Forbidden Romance)
Muse A has lived in the care of a middling monastery and/or convent for their entire life. Each day rising to pray and go about their duties in solemn admiration of their divine duty. They tend to the gardens, bake bread, and press wine, and pray, constantly. Life is very dull in the monastery. Muse A can catch glimpses of what the rest of the world is like through the texts that the more educated brothers and/or sisters cultivate and by looking longingly over the walls to the lands beyond. This continues until the peace of the kingdom is shattered by the drums of war. Suddenly the monastery must be defended. The King sends Muse B and the band of warriors they captain to protect the sacred site. Muse B is strapping and clever, and most importantly they hold the promise of wild adventure. Can Muse A use Muse B to escape their sheltered life of the cloth, will they be able to embrace the wild, unrestricted, world of sin beyond?
Junkyard Dogs (Futuristic, Social Commentary, Action)
Humanity has since spread far beyond their old home on earth. Now so numerous, humans have populated many planets and moons within the solar system. The dominance of multiplanetary megacorporations, able to colonize new spheres with their massive resource chains, has resulted in a wide gap between the rich and poor. No matter where humans go, their iniquities come with them. Along with these humans also came their mountains of junk and mechanical waste. While the rich continue to consume and dispose of their products without any regard, the poor scrounge for their scraps amongst the waste. Huge swaths of land on the less desirable spheres are home to massive junkyards and shanty towns. The poor souls who live amongst these towns are looked down upon by the rich servants of the corporations. However, amongst the junk and rust, there is a resentment brewing, stewing, just below the surface.
