Fandom A Rose And A Thorn (Shadow x Amy)

"Well, I'm glad that you're helping," Amy told him. She'd never seen him getting nervous before, "And you are helping. I suppose if Sonic had bothered to call to let me know, I'd just be left sitting at home alone and feeling lonely. At least you're company."

"I wouldn't leave you alone like this....I would never do that. If I could, I would be by your side." Shadow said determinedly then he looked outside, "We're here..."

The door was opened for Shadow, who stepped out and helped Amy out.

"Thanks..."

Amy wondered what it was that was suddenly making Shadow blurt out all of these things. Maybe it was because it was just the two of them, and no fights. He'd been a little like this on the Ark. She thought of Sonic, abandoning her like that. He probably had a great reason... except that he'd come up with great reasons so many times. And she'd accepted them. Those times, she'd been on her own. He'd at least called ahead. This time, she was with Shadow.

"I've never seen this side of you before, Shadow," she admitted, "It's... different."

"Maybe....being different is better than sulking about and not being part of a friendship." Shadow responded and smirked a little.

"You've decided you want things to be different, then?" Amy asked, even as they walked into the Golden Egg. They were seated and approached with a wine list, "I'm glad. It's not right that you should still be so... unhappy," she patted his hand lightly.

Amy wasn't sure what to make of any of this as the waiter offered them a wine list. But she found her hand closing on Shadow's gently, "You've really been feeling better?" she asked, "I know it's been six years, but..." she giggled a little, "Somehow I'm surprised. Maybe I should be. Why didn't you ever tell me any of this before?"

"I, again, was nervous for a long while and spent a lot of time by myself again, not reaching out to anyone, not even Rouge. I'm glad Omega is back....I heard about Gamma being a friend of yours?" Shadow asked.

"Didn't you know?" Amy asked sadly, "Gamma is long gone... Although I suppose in a way I'm happy for him. He's free, and he's with his family."

"Really?" Amy asked, "I... nobody ever told me Gamma was part of Omega now," she smiled, "Is that how Omega became free? He's really... single-minded..." she admitted, "But he cares."

(I saw that issue)

"That's exactly how. Gamma's own personality inside that robo-hero." Shadow chuckled.

(I had that one but I forget where it went.)

"Gamma's personality, Omega's goals. It makes for a curious mix," Amy looked at Shadow, "Like you are."

(you need to order wine, remember)

Amy pointed to the scallops as her choice for the starter, then paused, "You really don't mind the cost?" she asked, "You're just doing this... because? This restaurant is expensive..."

"I'm doing this for you and I don't mind the cost." Shadow said pointed to the fried pickles. He nodded and looked over at the outside quickly before turning to the incoming waiter. He immediately gave him the orders that the both of them wanted.

Amy still felt as if her surprise was boundless. She was seeing a side of Shadow she'd never been aware existed. It confounded her that he had hidden it under his tough-guy shell so well. But there were no robots to fight, no Eggman to threaten, no Sonic to challenge. Maybe this was the only part of Shadow that was real.

"Thanks," she told him, squeezing his hand again, "For... for the company."

Shadow smiled at Amy and held her hand. "You were the....analyst for the Resistance?" He asked, not remembering what she was doing during the war

"He didn't lie about that." Shadow chuckled and looked over to the window, "Maybe we could've seen some something out there...."

((We could double with the pairings))

"What do you mean?" Amy asked. She started eating her meal, and a cunning look crossed her face, "You're not jealous, are you? Of Knuckles?"
