I apologize, the hubris of your species is quite hilarious, nearly to a point of which I could laugh uncontrollably, were I able to.
Thinking that they could just "be good" and live forever on in paradise. There's no such thing as paradise.
However, I can offer you a shot at living again, at least, before you're used to feed the hand that makes you.
Bind yourself to, what you would call a "Reaper", that is what I am... And maybe... Just maybe... We can work a deal to revive you.
Or be used as the grain that feeds your so-called "Gods", either works for myself, personally.
There's billions of your kind out there, it won't be hard to Kill another and strike the deal with them.
So. What will it be? Utter annihilation, or a second chance? Tick... Tock...
Laughing could be heard in the depths of your subconscious, whatever it is... It wants you to decide. Do you give yourself to this "Binding" thing, or ignore it and fade back into whatever "sleep" you drifted off to....
Hello and what's up, everyone?! This is NeverBetter, and I have a special little project here for your eyes today. I've been in-planning of this RP for quite some time, and I figure what better place to put it on than a a little site I recently joined? More or less, the concept of the RP is explained in the passage above, however, for those on a TLR mindset or timeframe, or if it didn't exactly make sense, here's a short summary of the idea:
(^)
In this world, you're already dead.
And no, that's not a joke. You start out as a lone soul, recently captured by what is called, at least by us human folk, "Reapers". Of course, a reaper being what it is, killed you and took your soul. However, instead of delivering you to the intended destination immediately, the Reaper informs you of what will happen: That, after he takes you to where souls go, your soul will be used as food for what we call "gods". There is nothing else for us left, aside that. However, the Reaper also, for once, has a choice for he who hath fallen: Oblivion, or Servitude.
Should you chose to serve the Reaper, they will "Bind" your character to them, and bring them back to life, and in return, they must serve as a Reaper's avatar in the realm of the living to solve some issues that a Reaper itself cannot do.
Choose Oblivion... And... Well... That's your story's end.
{End TLR...?}
...I know that's a bit long for a TLR, but to get the point across: "Do you wanna have super demon powers and solve a problem for some reapers so you can keep living or not" seemed a little too unenticing.
Alright, so, you're interested, I take it? Let's get onto some of the meat of this thing.
Genre: Action|Adventure/Fantasy set in modern day (A la the T.V. show Supernatural, if you've ever watched it)
The idea of this game is to utilize player characters as both Reapers or Humans, as such, if you wish to be a Reaper, you will need to PM me if/when the Sign-Ups do go up. They will go up if I have, let's say, four to six people willing to confirm they will be playing. There is no set limit to players, however, Reapers are a first-come-first-serve sort of deal. At the time, I am limiting the Reaper count to two to three, and the number will rise as more members sign on as humans.
However, another twist here is that no one has a guaranteed partner, and will be decided by a random lotto, this is to avoid overpowered combinations of humans and Reapers (I.E., a human who knows how to forge swords with incredible longevity and strength paired with a reaper that grants the Human a incredible level of strength, however the trade-off is that they cannot use an average weapon without fear of it breaking in their hands) and to encourage new player interactions with people you're not normally partnering with.
At that, both players must at all times be active and posting, and if you do become inactive, I expect you to either let your partner know and let them cover for you until you can get back in the action, or talk with me. I am not an unreasonable man, if you tell me you need a break, as long as you don't mind my use of your character to keep the game moving, there are no problems with you taking a break.
Now, onto how both character types will work:
A Human is a normally fragile creature, at least in the supernatural world. Your average ghost or skeleton will kill them in a blow or two, how sad. However, they're much smarter than your average magical being, and incredibly resourceful. To that point, they have access to three specialty skills, from things that advance combat like martial arts experience or being very fast or very strong, to utilities like experience in the kitchen, better sociability, or skills that have unique applications, like lock picking or being knowledgeable about foraging, so on. As long as a human can have that talent, it's open.
However, of course, the downside is they have four flaws, which coincide with talents of the human race, you must choose three human talents and four human flaws.
You may also have a specialty skill, however, that comes at the cost of an extreme flaw. These will not be decided by dice roll or luck, but based on these talents, I will constantly judge the "synch" (to be covered) between you and your Reaper.
The Reaper is one of the strongest of the Supernatural beings, as they rule over death itself. When a Reaper binds a living being's soul to itself, the Reaper can then enter the human realm through using the human as a sort of portal, grant powers to the human, and become corpeal for up to twenty minutes at a time and it takes twenty-four hours since the last performance of this ability to use it again., past that, the Reaper's life force is draining away and will begin to age them rapidly until they turn to dust, as even one who rules over a force of nature cannot escape it. And in that, once they bind themselves to a human, they must protect the human at all costs, as if the human passes on, so will the Reaper.
The powers Reaper's hold are nearly infinite in sheer volume of selection, however, they can only choose two unique powers for themselves, however they lack flaws to them as they're not exactly "flawed" creatures, at least not in that regard, and the powers can be basically anything, aside from things like direct creation of life and such. Their third power, is, and always will be, the ability to harvest, direct, see, read, and understand the human soul.
However, they're limited by rules, laws, and regulation. A reaper cannot directly interfere in the human world (I.E., see whatever and wherever they want) and the only contact they can have with it aside from harvesting souls (Which they can do at-whim to whomever they select off of a Hitlist of people, or whoever was in the vicinity of them at the time should they so choose to put in extra work.) as the rules stated by the Gods so say. However,
if a Reaper can convince a human to let them bind their soul to the Reaper, they can affect things within a radius of ten meters of the human they're bound to, and no more, unless they become corpeal. A Reaper can only do this if a situation becomes dire and requires the ability to assist in the human world, otherwise, no matter what, they are not aloud to affect the human world and must release the Binding as soon as the task is complete. They are required to follow whom they are bound to, in a manor like a ghost, at all times. A Reaper must also do their job, but only if their job does not take them more than fifty meter's away from their bound human. However, their raw power is unparalleled. When bound to a human, the human gains the powers, aside from the Death-strict abilities, from the Reaper (If the Reaper has Ice breath, the human now has ice breath) however this power is far less effective when used by a human.
The benefit of being a Human is you can do anything, really, as long as you have a Reaper by your side. The benefit of being a Reaper is that there will always be a human to bind to, letting you get into the human world to solve the problem facing them.
Humans get three human-capable abilities, and two flaws, with the option for having an ability better than the rest with an extra flaw.
Reapers are not flawed in concept, but have only two powers a player can choose to use, however said powers are much greater due to a lack of human limitation, but their power is useless without a human to channel it through, in a sense.
Apologies on the long post, but I prefer to have everything detailed and mapped out for players so they can make an informed decision on their stance.
Anyhow, now, it's your turn. Time to decide, RPN! Does this RP live or die!?
