A Princess and Her Sentinel

ChariotWaltz

Lady Knight Enthusiast
[[This thread is closed.]]

----

She was bored of all of these lessons.

First piano, then sewing, then waltzing, then flower arranging, then history, then whatever other mundane topic she had to study until the sun set. No breaks in between any of these lessons, besides moving through the extravagant castle. She glanced out at the clear window to see a beautiful day passing by.

Reina was the only heir to the throne, so all eyes were on her as she continued her studies as future queen of her land. The princess was brought up in a rather bland life of a princess, or so it seemed, she did not know another life. Growing up seemed like like a giant blur of moments, nothing particularly standing out other than the fact that she is a princess. Her father and mother, the rulers of the land, always expected her to take care of herself as she continued her preparation as future monarch, were almost never around.

She retained her yawn in fear of showing any sign of disrespect to her teacher. "That is all for today Your Highness." Reina blinked, her blonde hair swaying slightly as she looked up in mild confusion. She excused herself, the day had passed as soon as she was done daydreaming. The sun was setting and the day grew dimmer and dimmer. She excused herself from the large study, only to look at the entrance, scanning the large room for a familiar face.

Reina was looking for her sentinel, a childhood friend of hers.

Reirruc stood by the door gazing at the people and habits they all had. He noticed how they never looked at him always pretending he wasn't there. did they see him as a lowly commoner?

Suddenly a feeling creeped into his thoughts and he knew Reina was watching him, and his eyes rose to meet her.

He walked over to her and lifted her hand, and he bent down and kissed it.

"my lady how did your classes go? Have i told you about the days I had class?"

He looked over at the window amd saw himself.

His plated armor clang to his muscled frame, and his greatsword strapped to his back.

Black hair flowed down to his shoulders, and he could feel his necklace...the only rememberance of a friend, no family, besides his princess.

No matter the bitterness of his life, she always made him smile. He told himself he went through a hard life to make sure she never had to.

Reina looked up to the familiar face. She nodded in acknowledgement as he took her hand into his and brushed his lips on the back of her hand. She pulled her hand back and ran it through her own hair, carefully making sure she kept to herself. She watched Reirruc turn towards the window and look at his own reflection, her eyes scanned the tall muscular body that was clad in shining armor. Reina remembered that Reirruc had been part of her life when she was a child. When he officially was appointed to become her personal guard, she had to make sure to keep the friendship between them purely professional, but sometimes Reina wanted to go out and simply play with her old friend.

As soon as he had started to learn to be a knight, it was also getting more and more apparent as he grew taller and stronger as the years passed. Now that the two were past their teenage years and were young adults, Reirruc was actually much more handsome than she expected. Reina only stayed on the thought of a split second when she shook her head, glancing away from him as she responded to his question.

"Classes were not very exciting. I've gotten a little bored of what I'm learning." Reina sighed quietly, it was never ladylike to admit her feelings, but she trusted Reirruc to never betray her. "Let's go to the garden." Her deep blue eyes stared up at the knight. Even though she was half of his size, she never was one to be submissive towards the people that worked for her.

"Then let us go, my lady"

He walked over to the door and opened for her. He waited patciently.

He thought about the way she was looking at him, the way she did sometimes, he found it kind of strange, but he was too dense to put the pieces together.

He always thought she was very pretty from the moment he met her. He was pleasantly surprized when he got to be her guard, but he always wondered what he would do when she got married.

He tried to avoid that thought...

"Perhaps we could teach other something more exciting?"

he began to whisper "i can show you how to fight with a sword if you wish, sure its not lady like, but you dont seem to be having much fun now are you?"

In truth he just wanted to spend time with her instead of standing back and watching her from afar like some sort of rogue.

Anything would suit him, anything at all, just something simple.

A knight chose his loyalties, and his loyalties his priority. She came above all else, although he made sure to keep people thinking he was more interested in serveing the royalty...

A idea came upon him what if the king and queem had planned this? It would seem absurd for it to be a coincidence to be her sentiel and her childhood friend?

He snapped out of it and besides paying his attention to her, he went back to reciting strategy principles to keep his mind focused.

Reina watched her guard open the door. She flashed him a small smile, moving gracefully towards the exit. When she heard him speak again, her eyes lit up.

She stopped in front of him in the frame of the door. Reina looked up to him as he whispered. "I may take you up on that offer!" Reina said a bit loudly, a pair of maids with their heads low passed by. The princess pursed her lips and continued to walk out the door and began to make her way to the garden.

As she walked ahead, she glanced back at Reirruc with innocent excitement. She had always wanted to learn a fighting discipline but the closest thing she had once done was almost learn fencing however her parents were far too worried she'd injure herself and was never allowed near weapons.

She would see the castle guards practicing, but it didn't take long for her to conceal her curiosity and seal it until Reirruc brought the idea up.

She made sure the hallways were empty before she turned a quick corner towards the back of the castle where the guard barracks were located. "You'll teach me to fight?" She asked in an excited whisper, wanting to hear her friend confirm with her.

" of course now wait here"

He dissappeared into quarters, picking up his training sword, and hers, and finding her the disguise he had purchased for her. He was sad when saw the look on her face when her parents forbade her to take up Fenceing and he promised himself to make her smile again!

He found her. He handed he the cloths and the hat, and said " now your blade is dull, you never train with a sharp weapon so dont try to use it in a fight. The clothing is training uniform, it will you well my lady, we dont want anyone realizeing your training with me or get that dress dirty" he sneerd as he finished whispering.

As he was about to ask her if she wanted to practice now, he heard guards in conversation and heading this way

He pushed open a nearby door and pulled her in with him. She couldn't be seen holding those items.

he heard the guards stop talking and the hushef their conversation.

Slowly their footsteps came closer and closer. Each step echoing on his worry, if they found out....she would be so upset!

His breathe released into a sigh as they resumed talking...

He looked down and noticed he was holding her close to him.

He jolted back, "i'm sorry my lady, did i hurt you?"

Worry conquered his face driving out his embrassment.

He shouldnt have been holding her so close to him like that, it wasnt a gentlemanly thing to do at all.

But alas, if those were enemy soldiers, she would be safe right now. He couldn't be upset with himself that his training did his job.
