Ok, inspired by ShadowDragon's (discontinued...) fanfic, I decided to write my own. For now it is Safe for Work!

Chapter I

A World of Powerful Heroes

It was about mid-night, and Uriel was really trying to watch some anime on his computer. He was not an actual Otaku though. But this night in special he was sleepy. Pretty weird considering the usually only slept by 2 AM and until that time he would stay as awake as it gets. Not really bothering to find out why this night was different, he takes a sip from an energetic drink, mixed with vodka, and wonders if he should go to some random rave instead of being there. And then he blinks…

It felt merely a fraction of second to him, but the sky outside told him otherwise. The horizon was reddish. Noticing how weird it was to see 5 hours or so passing in a single blink. He prepares to go to school. And then remembers it was Saturday. A free day, yay. Deciding to get some more sleep, he closes his eyes. And something tells him to desperately open them

This time, merely a moment passed indeed. But rather than time, the very world was different. With a quick glance around, he can only think of two things: “Guy with sword going to attack me!†followed by “DODGE!â€. Not very athletic it ends with pitiful results as he stumbles and ends on the ground after trying a side-step. Trying to stand, he feels much heavier than he should. Looking at his own body, he sees…armor? A metal armor, covering a pretty good amount of it. With some difficulty he stands in time, to see the man coming at him again. Realizing how insane this place was, he sees no other option to leave other than fight. Getting out of the way of the man once more, now knowing he held more weight than he should, Uriel holds a sword that he found nearby and decapitates the man. Apparently he was stronger than he should right now. However, as he looks to find allies, every soldier with a similar armor to his is dead or dying. Coming to his term that it was not a dream, his survival instinct showed up, screaming “RUN!’. But something else burned inside his spirit and he decided to take them all. He knew he had no chance, but as soon as the first wave of warriors dashed to fight him, something happened

Uriel had neither words nor sentences to describe how it was, but if he had to guess it was something downright confusing. Suddenly all of his muscles and his body were lighter. The armor and the sword’s weight were nil too. And a burst of emotion came by to ice the cake. Anger, joy, confusion, fear, pain, pleasure. Everything in one sudden explosion, all of them more intense than he ever felt, and yet it couldn’t compare to how his other senses were reacting. His sight became better, he could clearly see mountains that were far away. He somehow could hear the wind blowing, despite the cacophonic orchestra of man running towards him, covered in armor. And finally, all of them were somehow…different, he could feel something else. Some type of energy, that started to be comprehended by his mind, and seemed to flow through his body like blood. He tapped on that energy, causing it to erupt from every limb he had, and take shape. Surrounding him were golden cracks, bursting flames equally golden, in streams that surrounded him, like the sun’s corona. Feeling confident, he stepped forward and began his attack!

The first wave was easy, each of his attacks completely smashed the armor. After two strikes however his own sword broke. Kicking the closest enemy in the belly, and staggering him for a second, he disarmed the man, and quickly ended his life. Every strike or so his sword would break again but he would easily pick up another soldier’s weapon and use it. After three or four waves, they stopped to come, and pulled their bows. It was meaningless. Believing he would hit, he picked up a sword from the ground and threw it. Flying perfectly towards the enemy, it completely trespassed his body, piercing the heart and coming out as easily as if it was cutting through butter. “How inconvenient†he though, but soon the sword curved and flew back to his hands. The other archers simply recognized their own inferiority and ran

Yet their commander stills stood there in his chariot. Coming down from it, Uriel notices instantly that he was in a different level. His armor was already red but somehow still tinted with crimson blood that stood out. He pulled two swords from his waist, both of them as long broadsword would be. Seeing himself unarmed, the tries to tap into that weird feeling for power. He can feel it running through your body, to his hands. Closing his eyes he starts to gather it there and instinctively knows that to do. Picturing two weapons he sees the light coming out of his hands, and taking a defined, yet abstract form of the weapons he pictured. Opening them, there they were, made out of pure energy and still crackling with it, each of them a lot bigger than the short swords of the enemy. He tightens his grip in the weapons, even though as he noticed it was meaningless, for that they were both energy, and charges forward himself

Before he can even get close, he can see the man taking a formal stance, which suddenly covers himself on fire, and both of his weapons. Not exactly awed anymore by such a feat considering what he done, he keeps running. When they were 1 yard away or so, the man takes a deep breath, and in one blowing motion blasts fire instead of air. Caught surprised, he wonders how to defend himself, but in the heat of action it just seems to happen. Spinning the energy weapons, even though they were immaterial they seem to spread the fire around, and even the heat don’t touches him as he expected. And considering from the state of the dead warrior’s armors that start to glow red, and white for a brief second he is sure that it should. And then he attacks himself. One in a thrusting motion, blocked that is quickly followed by a spinning slash. Despite his mind telling him such flashy attacks would put him in disadvantage, he the grunt of pain he hears tells him that one of his blades was able to break through the defense. The enemy them takes a small step forward, closing any distance between then. He notices that his blades could not touch him while they were like that yet his were close enough to about to stab him. Before he can think his body moves, getting out of the way in a speed that he was sure to never been able to achieve. Wondering if this new body had abilities way beyond the ones he had, Uriel throws every good sense he had, and trusts that he now possess the power to do something.

Noticing to be right quickly, he makes one slash, followed by another, and another, and another. Each of them so graceful and fast that any fencer would be jealous forever. One of them is blocked but all the sub sequential strike true. Before him, a dead man, with powers he thought that could rival him, yet in the end were not even close to be an actual challenge. Noting himself he was getting more arrogant, or just the good feeling of victory that was causing it, he smiles and starts to walk towards the mountains. From what he knew in movies, stories and dreams, he was not going anywhere for a pretty good time…
