Fantasy A New Telekinetic Visitor Arrives

Sarcago is very much an isolated city, those there call it that anyway, while there are just about two thousand people there. Wilderness, mostly forests or woodlands, surround it, and the one known other city, Frenillo, is over fifty miles away, along a rarely used road through the wilderness subject to numerous dangers. Megamite is the metal that is mainly used, besides another rarer exotic metal, but most homes or buildings are mostly made from wood.

The core group are lawful people, under benign leadership of Ardon son of Groudar and his high council, observing ways that have those there being sociable. But as contester to the limited leadership there, the Vargodorians are really growing in number with the lawlessness of their ways.

No one is really expected to come to Sarcago, since long ago in history when there were visiting mercenaries from Frenillo, which went on a few times with items being traded, until wolves, superwolves, and superscalywoods were invading the passage with the road between those cities, only once was there a lone individual who was exceptional in coming to Sarcago along that road just over a dozen years earlier. Now there was this exceptional individual, spotted by several within the city near the gate, as that one neared. The guards of the city were called right away.

Armed with tablet in his hands, he wanders in the forest, being guided by what the computer thinks are multiple life signatures ahead. As he was closing in, he finally found visual evidence of human-made buildings ahead, albeit, a gate. The gate didn't built itself by randomness, thus, definitely human built. He even saw some people there, which by the uniform looked like guards, wearing very strange clothes, in fact, he would bet some of his video games that it was extremely uncomfortable to wear.

It did occur to him to ask why they were wearing it, but in the end, he didn't really care. He stopped looking at the tablet, and lowered it, while still looking at the guards, which enable him to free one hand.
"Helloo! Open it! I wanna in!" The 10 year old spoke out, as he happily greeted one of the guards, waving his hands at them, with a smile in his face, trying to contain his chuckle due to the guard's strange garment. It was funnier up close, than from a distance. If they didn't open, he was likely to do it by himself.

The guards there opened the gate, while it had not actually been locked shut. It was not really a strong gate anyway. As they looked at the one who approached, it became clear to them that this was a very young boy. One of the guards said, "We should know what to do about this. A mysterious boy coming through the wild lands on the unused road to Sarcago needs one of those special instructors, you know what I mean? No one else will get meaningful answers from him."

Another one said, "I will go get Egeleron. He would be the right one for this." The other nodded, and that one hurried off very quickly in a direction to the left.

The one who spoke first looked at the boy who was now here. He asked, "Do you want to tell me anything?"

He got inside, when the gate opened, and, upon a general inspection, did that place even had electricity? Running water? Anything? How was he going to play video games like that? They were talking about him, but all he could do was to look around, at the houses of the city. After a few seconds, he glanced at the guards with a disappointed look, and then at the guard that stayed there with him. After a deep breath, he had things to ask.

"Egeleron? Is this a type of Jell-o?" Maybe not. With any luck, it was going to be a good food. What kind of food did they have there?
"Do you have video games? Please please please say yes." Kevin really wanted it. Not that it would happen.
"Only board games?" Assuming they even had these.
"And what are you wearing?" Did the guard memorize all of these? He better.

Kevin was answered, "Egeleron is one in a fine tradition of guiding young boys. There are games the boys play, that is all I can say about that. You will learn among them. And you really have not seen any in guard uniform where you are from? Well just wait here a bit, it really would not be long. From what has been learned previously this seems to be the best way to handle this sort of thing." The guard was silent for a couple of moments. Then he said, "Ah, there. Egeleron was found and is being brought here, where he will see you."

Indeed that other guard was seen returning with one tall man with a cloak on him. They came nearer quickly, as that tall man gave the boy a studious look.

"Guiding?" He crossed his arms, and he seemed not to like the sound of that. The reason, was, he thought, guiding of course meant that this Egeleron guy, whoever he was, was going to start telling Kevin what to do, and they were almost likely sure to be boring chores.
"That uniform is silly." That was fairly different from the uniforms he had seen.

Then the guard explained Egeleron had arrived. The tall man stared at the boy, for a bit, and the boy stared at him, for a lot more than a bit.
"What?" He was now talking with Egeleron. What a nice way to greet the man. .. ...

The man, who was Egeleron, said, "You might have something to say about coming this way into our city, Sarcago, where you have not been to before. But I guess you might not say it to anyone but one whom you could grow to really trust. Am I right?" The man had a wise look about him, and seemed to know more than he would say right away, as well. But he came near enough, and held out a hand, seeming ready to shake a hand with it. He said, "I am Egeleron, and I have some experience helping boys who need the help. I have a place for that." He said his name with the sound of "egg" at the beginning.

Though with a wise appearance he was not really old, likely he might be under the age of thirty. His hair, a light brown, with a small chin beard to match, was not long but hung a little way down his neck. Even the guards had longer hair. But this man had a dignity he bore.

"I just searched for life signs." He then showed the tablet that he had in his hands, before lowering his hands once more, and then he shrugged it somewhat, because, what was the point? Why would he only say this to people he trusted? That was how he found the city.

Kevin looked at the offered hand, and, just shook it for a few seconds, and then he broke the handshake fairly quickly.
"And I don't need help." He said almost immediately after, but, he then thought for a bit.
"Maybe a little. But not from you." He went back to the same conclusion.

And equally important, "What kind of name is that? Eggeleron." With egg at the beginning.

Egeleron said, "I see. I offer you help, and having backing, that will support how I can help you. But you do not think you need that. The guards might find what to do with you instead. If you need any help at all, it would be available from what I offer more than anywhere else. It is your call. I will show you what I offer, if you still would go where I would be showing it. And, my name is not very common, but a respectable one here still."

He found what Egeleron just said to be funny, even smiling a bit, because, the guards would not find what to do with him, in fact, it was likely to be the opposite of that.
"Listen. The guards are doing whatever I want, not the other way around." He corrected the wise man Egeleron, pronounced with egg in the beginning.
"What do you offer? I am hungry, how about some food? And I take a guard, because its fun!" He shrugged once more, quickly glancing at one of the guards. He had more to say, obviously. "Also, what games? You said you had games? They're not video games, right? I guess I have to lift this society to a more industrial setting. Could be fun! Like a game. Like, um, civilizations game. Or strategy!" He didn't really had that much of a choice.. it was either that, or be bored. Unless Egeleron had a better idea?

Egeleron said, "Exactly. You may go with me to my home where I have been providing a room for young boys that are in need and having a place to learn a bit and go in new directions. There is good food I offer along with the place to wash up and where you would be able to rest and sleep. I know other boys around who can show you how they play. I do not know anything about the rest of those things you mention though. If you prefer a guard from here to come along, I am sure that one of them will want to do that. Let them know you would want that."

Egeleron was impressed, this boy was not so much like one from an unexplained place told in tales that had been passed down. Just maybe much more would be learned about this boy. He was ready to go when the boy would choose to go, with or without a guard from there accompanying them.

Nop. Apparently, Egeleron didn't have a better idea to keep the kid from getting bored. The only thing that Egeleron suggested that could accomplish that, was, having other children with him for them to play games. That could be fun, as opposed to boring.
"Okay, egg. Let's go! Can I call you egg? Egg." And that was when he started to laugh for a brief time. That was funny. Seriously, what kind of person would be called: Egg-eleron?
"Come on guard." He told the guard to follow him, as he was following Egeleron.
"Hey, guard. What's your name? Guard? You have a name, right? Do you have children too?" He asked a bunch of random questions which he was interested to know.

While they were walking, because walking is such a boring activity, he would also entertain himself using his telekinetic powers to make his tablet hover above his hand, making it rotate as well, sometimes flipping, but mostly rotating. The principal moments of inertia of the tablet were such, that, naturally, the rotation would be unstable in the intermediate axis, something that not many objects would show. It was fun to watch. And sometimes it was fun to balance the telekinetic forces so it would spin consistently. What? He was bored...

Egeleron told the boy, "If my name seems too long to remember very soon I will settle with you learning that much."

The guard quickly agreed, and nodded to his comrades, and then went on continuing as Egeleron and this new boy walked off, with Egeleron leading the way. But Egeleron was known with a reputation and there was no surprise to the guard which way they were going. The guard did answer, "I am Tomerhahnt, a tertiary officer. I have one son, rather older than you are."

There was surprise to see the boy use his telekinesis on his tablet thing. Egeleron said soon, "Then it is true about the powers, that we heard about. This boy really is from that same place."

Egeleron soon turned along one way from that on which they had left the gate, and went along that way with rows of houses on either side, tall and a bit narrow with slanted roofs of red or of orange color, until they came to one like them but standing out with its roof of a brown color, on the right.

Egeleron explained, "I acquired this home from a renowned worker helping boys here, Ventemal, who I had personally known from an earlier time when he had helped me as a boy. He did help many others. But it was not so great an expense for me with my help to him when he was older, ensuring he would be provided for well enough. He is still living, in a smaller home, and I and others he has helped go and see him still, and bring him things he would want, as we are indebted to him with our successes. I hope to inspire boys here the same way, that they will be successful in pursuits of what they can achieve."

Egeleron led the boy, with the guard following that far, to the front door with a step up to a small porch there, and there it was seen here that there was an extended portion built on to one side, to the left, on that house. Egeleron pulled out a very small rod and pushed it through a little opening, and the door opened.

Kevin just shook his head, and let out a small laughter, when Egeleron pointed out the reason of the 'egg' name was due being too long to remember. It was not! It was because it was funny. However, though, a guard named Tomerhahnt was too long to remember. Egg and Tom!
"Hi Tom! I am Kevin!" He introduced himself, in a happy way.
"Too bad." That is, too bad that Tom didn't have a son which was a child.

As he was following them, Egeleron said about powers, but, Kevin didn't care, instead, he was looking at the houses. They looked old, wooden, low tech, bad. The red, orange and brown roofs didn't exactly inspire that much confidence as well, nor did it change the boy's opinion about these houses.

When Egeleron started speaking, at first the boy was uninterested, but he just looked upwards to listen, who knows, maybe this Egg guy would be offering something of value, but no. After a boring story, Kevin soon realized Egeleron's sentences themselves were expressing the low tech environment he was at. It was like ancient poetry, where difficult-to-understand words were being used, due to the old age of the writing, or, as Kevin liked to think, for no purpose at all, other than to look like complicated, and to rob from others the opportunity to effortlessly understand what is being said.

Egeleron opened the door, which only served to reinforce that Kevin didn't want to stay there. There was no escape, was there? His telekinesis was so powerful, he had so much power, yet, he couldn't get out of that planet. He crossed his arms, and looked at Egeleron.
"Tell me, Egg", he spoke out, with great emphasis on the word 'egg', just because he thought it was funny. It was probably one of these things, that would always be funny. Egg.
"What exactly are you saying? And this isn't a boring literature class! Don't overcomplicate! And what kind of success are you talking about? Your version of success looks boring." The boy certainly spoke his mind, without any kind of restraint, and without sugarcoating.

Egeleron was courteous still and he seemed to have some skill at that. "I have gained from this established practice of help to young boys who would be in need of it, and learned to pass on from that to more in that position of need. Even one from the alien place will want a place where they can eat, where they can wash up, and where they can sleep, and they might like something entertaining too. The goals to pursue can include heroic positions if you have promising ability, which you might. So would you want this?"

The guard who had come said pleasantly, "Maybe he would rather come with me. He might stay at the guard station. I am sure there will be a lot of interest and there would questions I am sure will be asked."

If he wanted this? What kind of question was that? Of course he wanted a place to eat, drink, and a place to sleep. Was Egeleron giving him a choice between that, and, starving? The guard also offered an invitation, which he was less than keen in accepting. Between the two choices, Egeleron had the best one, in his point of view.
"Thank you, Tom. Maybe later."

And with that, he looked at Egeleron, focusing at the man. "Entertaining? Like, dancing people?"
"Heroic position? Like a ruler? I like that!" Maybe that was not what Egeleron wanted to say, but that was how Kevin interpreted it. If only that was all he said, but no, he had even more to say. "Are you asking to be my personal advisor?"

Egeleron said, "You would be glad with your choice to be here. There are other young boys from nearby homes and I can let you be introduced to them. They do have fun playing and they would probably include you. With me we can discuss what things you can do. Perhaps you might be set in the direction to be the one who will govern here. If that happens and I am still here I believe I would be happy to be along as your personal advisor. But before we jump that far let us talk and I can find out the things you can do. There was one who was exceptional before who did not understand the distinction between ruler and leader originally, and he was guided as boys are here, and for him it was guidance into leading in heroic ventures which really helped our city, Sarcago. With you coming from far away I think maybe you are exceptional in some way like that too."

The guard said to the boy, "If you think you would stay here, I might just go now. But I or another guard might come by in the next day or so, and see how things are going, and see if there is any interesting information."

Kevin nodded and smiled when Egeleron said there were other boys, living near by, and they would include him when playing. That was something! At least he wasn't going to be super bored. And, he couldn't believe when Egeleron openly spoke that he could govern. Really? Really really? Life lesson: don't say these kind of things in front of young boys with insane powers, as it could end up badly.
"Yay! Will be fun! Like playing civilizations!" He seemed very excited now that he had received permission to rule.
"I am going to lift you all to the computer and communication age, so that I can have videogames to play." Yea. Honorable goal.
"And then space age! We gonna build a fleet, explore, and maybe take me back! Or not. Could be fun to stay here!"

He was visibly pretty excited with the whole thing. He didn't pay attention at all other things Egeleron said, about heroic ventures, or something like that. Who cares. Because..
"Let's begin! So. What kind of currency you have here? And, I wanna know how much money I have, what is the price of items, and, how many soldiers I have. I also want to know about your science. I gotta find a way to speed things out. I don't want this taking forever." He seemed mostly to be thinking out loud, but yeah, these were serious questions.

And then he turned to the guard, a tertiary officer.
"Oooh. Perhaps I should have two guards with me at all times! Hey, Tom guy, do you want it? Go back to the guard room, and, call one more, or, if you don't want it, ask around and call two."

There was also an additional problem.. And for this part, he was speaking to both of them, but mostly looking at Egeleron.
"And I wanna learn about the other towns around. And if they're a threat, this kind of thing."

His questions would get answered, right?
All of them, right?

Egeleron waited at the door, this Kevin suddenly became talkative and started exclaiming things and asking strange things without coming nearer to the door. Egeleron tried to follow the boy's rapid string of words. When there was a pause, Egeleron stated, "I do not know what things you can do, this evening we can talk and you can be showing me anything of it that you can think of doing. There is nothing spectacular about our life here that you are new to. We have standard coins of the metal for more even exchanges, which is available besides the metal used for certain things and holding structures together. I don't expect you to have any, but you might gain some with your work. And you thought there are other towns? This, Sarcago, is the one, but for the distant city this unused road going out from our city will lead to, beyond all the dangers along it, many many miles from here, Frenillo. The threats are the dangerous creatures and superscalywoods along the road or in the wilderness all around, there is no threat from distant Frenillo. There was some trade between these separate communities a very long time ago but that came to an end."

Tomerhahnt said just as he turned, "I am going and will talk with other guards about everything. You may soon enough be having more guards here, maybe our chief officer will come as well." The guard then left, going along the way between the tall homes on either side which they had come here along.
