Fantasy A Nation In Havoc OOC (2.0)

Not sure if people have stopped posting because they've become bored/busy or because it's not totally clear what we're all supposed to be doing right now so they don't know what to write.

Either way, if we want to keep this going, it might be a good idea to skip ahead to Kruziik's parade thing so we all get some idea what we should be trying to accomplish as a group. Maybe we can all decide it's time to sleep and have us wake up when the parade is happening outside the hatch.

I also suggest, once we know what we're supppsed to do, we divide our goals in such a way that we can split our characters up into multiple groups with different objectives. Smaller group posts are easier to follow and respond to than posts containing everyone. I don't know about all of you, but I've had a bit of trouble keeping track of who's talking to Raimi and whom she should be responding to when there are five or six people in the same place all trying to address each other all at once.

If everyone's lost interest or is too busy and the RP has run its course, that's life, I guess; however, I'm still down to keep going with this RP if you all are. I like Raimi too much to give up on her now.

This is good plan.

I agree, smaller groups would lighten a bit of the load of waiting for everyone else.

And we can do more stuff in a world I have countless ideas for!

My brain functions once more. What are we doing? And how are we going about doing it?
Kruzik having a parade is one idea, but what will out characters do in response to this?

Details to share: Kruziik planned ahead so that all the groups from the various regions of Okigira would arrive parade style at night. It's at night mostly because torches going down Main Street in the dead of night was cooler than in broad daylight. They will not be silent, nor should they be unnecessarily loud. The parade will consist of all ages under the promise of true freedom of belief. More when I think of stuff, brain meh right now.

Presumably this parade will consist of unsavory goblin types?

I still want to do the scene in the stable with Raimi. I suggest she wakes up first, I can do the thing, then as she's going back the parade starts and she wakes everyone else up to see it. Alternatively, someone could notice Raimi wake, follow her to the stable to witness her character moment undetected, then they notice the parade starting; torches in the distance or noises coming down the street or something. They proceed to alert Raimi, wake everyone up, and they all watch.

Not sure what revelations will be unveiled during the parade regarding objectives. What will they see during the parade that could give the group some goals to achieve? Something in Kruziik's speech, perhaps? I'm guessing we want our characters to see the parade and immediately know what they ought to do next.

Maybe one objective can be to remain in the city and find the scattered remnants of the castle soldiers and civilians who escaped Kruziik's assault on the castle and train and organize them into an army capable of eventually assaulting the castle to take it back later on in the RP. Decius and perhaps Armandio seem well suited to this task.

Another might be to travel to other kingdoms to secure their aid in fighting Kruziik and his lieutenants. This one requires weeks of travel in the wild and a good deal of diplomacy and political know-how, so maybe Raimi for the former and Nia for the latter would be good for an objective like this.

Some other goal could be to search some region of the world in search of a magical means of weakening or defeating Kruziik. Some sort of magical ritual or artifact that can nullify his own magic abilities to put everyone else on an even playing field with him. Maybe Armandio's grandfather tells them about it and where it is and then a few members of the group split off to go look for it. They might also be looking for a way to counteract his resurrection magic specifically so that his minions can't come back to life anymore.

Another thing I can think of is some form of stealth, scouting and reconnaissance. For whatever reason, maybe for information or maybe for something else, the group needs to head somewhere without being seen or noticed. Sneak into someplace heavily guarded, get what they gotta get, and get out. We have a few characters who are sort of stealthy, sneaky types, particularly Raimi and Armandio, so that's the reason I put something like this forward. Details would have to be ironed out about where they're sneaking and why. The castle perhaps? Iunno.

Then there's HoD's idea about Kruziik's lieutenants scattered throughout the world. We could potentially split the group up so each group has to take out one lieutenant in a different region, then they all meet back up in the city later.

I'm sure there's tons of other stuff we could potentially come up with for longer term RP goals, but we would want three or so so we can split into groups of two. Eventually, once each separate group finishes their mission, everyone meets back in the city and they plan an actual, final assault on the castle to take out Kruziik and his army and take the city back for good.

As a matter of fact the parade will consist of every race. From Orcs to Hobbits, Goblins to Elves. They come from all regions of Okigira.

Was Dalania's royal family particularly mean to every race on the continent? Why would everyone support Kruziik rather than Nia? Threats? Blackmail? Shady backroom political deals?

I am sure that nobody other than goblins and whatnot, who are the minority, would actually support Kruziik. I mean the guy just did a forced takeover of a country. I am sure that the other lords and kings will mount an attack on him. Due to the king dying, this is an excellent chance for other countries to expand and to do so under the guise of "freeing Dalania from Kruziik."

There will probably be a giant battle. But Kruziks level of magic could probably wipe out an army.
If he actually bothered to give a damn

Why do you assume they agree with the murder of the king? Why do you assume he told them? The people are not told that Kruziik is evil. Those that Kruziik has visited do not know what Kruziik can do. They put their faith in his godhood because unlike the Maker, Kruziik has actively helped people in the world. He's never broken his word to the people he gives a damn about.

While You all view him from the perspectives of your characters, (he killed the king) these people rely on him. More will be revealed, just keep in mind that people, and immortal murder wizards, have more than one side.

We need to think about reasons why nobility of Dalania and nobility and races of other countries would want to support Kruziik, specifically. We might say they think Nia is dead, so she's not an option anymore for them, but that still doesn't give them any reasons to support the man who instigated the coup. In a situation where there's a power vacuum, most of them want to gain more power for themselves. The most obvious answer is that they're afraid of him. He has an army of nigh unkillable goblins and more magic power than anyone can shake a stick at. The best way to gain power for an outside observer in this situation, it seems to me, is not to fight the new overlord, but to ride his coattails and hope he throws them a bone.

Even then, most of them are probably going to be looking for a way to undermine or sabotage him behind his back at the earliest possible opportunity so they can take his power for themselves.

There are two big things, at least, working against Kruziik politically, I think. The first is he's using an army of goblins, which, as I understand it, is a feared race within this world. Nobody is going to want to work willingly with that sort of marginalized group, especially when they're known primarily for pirating and wholesale slaughter and/or plunder of whatever they come across. That just doesn't look good from a PR perspective. Hell, within our own group, we've already seen that pretty much the only reason Jenny isn't on Kruziik's side instead of Nia's is that he's working with goblins. I have to imagine a lot of people are going to have similar reactions to hers.

The second is, no matter what Kruziik says about freedom or godhood or whatever high values he claims to possess, he murdered a large portion of the country's nobility--with whom he was supposedly allied--in one fell swoop via treachery. What's to stop him from murdering other people he enters verbal agreements with? Once a traitor always a traitor. On top of that, he pretty much instigated a genocide of most civilians in the city by siccing his goblins on the defenseless masses. Anyone looking at this with a shred of decency or a shred of ambition or sense of self-preservation is going to be like, "yeah, we need to get this crazy guy the fuck off that throne asap and put someone sane there. Preferably someone we know and can potentially control."

The man might have more than one side to him, but he's only showing the genocidal, traitorous one at the moment as far as I can tell. This has, or at least should have, political consequences.

Information travels slowly, but not slowly enough that Kruziik couldn't organize a parade of his supporters from across the continent the very night of his coup, it seems. He must have alerted them all ahead of time about what was going to happen so they could arrive on time, which raises a lot of questions all by itself.

How did he prevent leaks of information? Why was everyone so willing to go along with the murder of a sitting monarch and his entire court, especially one that was supposedly as well-liked as Dalania's king? Why did none of these people double cross him for a reward, or as an act of conscience?

These aren't insurmountable problems, but I think we should at least think about how they could be addressed. The misinformation bit is a good start; perhaps he claims the goblins came and murdered everyone on their own and he, being the dutiful, loyal Dalanian that he is, took the helm when the King died, fought off the invading goblins, and restored order. He'd have to keep his goblin army on the down-low and make appropriate sad faces about all the dead nobles and civilians in order to convince his potential supporters about this. He'd also have to find a way to make sure none of the survivors talk about what really happened.

On the note of Kruziik getting word out to his disciples, the heads of each group are given visions. Kruziik's favorite magic has always been mind magic, dream weaving and the like.

The Goblins often join non Goblin pirate gangs, as long as they don't eat the crew. That's their rule. Many crime syndicates and street gangs welcome Goblins for their quiet feet and animal ferocity. Many of those born in the Cult of Eternity have worked and played with Goblins their whole lives. This has served to gain these people's trust and wean the Goblin race off of people.

Kruziik doesn't need the nobility of surrounding countries to like him, he has other plans in motion. The President of The Republic of Askary and his people are corrupt, owned by the Mafia. The Church of The Maker is corrupt, taking money from the people. (Note: this is not to say they are all bad, but many are.) Kruziik knows he just has to push the right people to topple governments. Then he shall be rewarded with allies if they succeed, and if they don't he'll try again.

Many people's lives have been directly influenced by Kruziik, whether he's helped them in some way, or helped their family. By helped I mean such things as bringing dead loved ones that died too young back to life, killing monsters that threatened villages in godlike ways. That's the kind of stuff that'll get you disciples.
