Realistic or Modern A message...

You wake to an beeping. You've just received a message from some unknown sender. No one is supposed to be able to access your computer, aside from your commander and co-workers. And they don't like you all too much. Unless...unless it's some kind of emergency. If that's the case, you could really help someone. Maybe even save a life. So, what do you do?

A) Stay in bed. It's probably nothing important.

B) Get up and read the message. Even if it is a co-worker, they wouldn't message you unless something was going on.

B) If I don't answer it, the beeping might continue and I won't be able to sleep.

You get up. That infernal beeping won't stop until you silence it, and the only way to do that is to check the message. It's not one of your co-workers. The username is 'Unknown' and try as you might, you can't find the ip addresses. Well, the only way to figure out who it is is to open the message. Or, you know, you could just go downstairs and sleep on the couch. Your choice.

A) Open the message.

B) Go downstairs and sleep on the couch.

Ah, ah, sorry everyone! School started and I've been busy. Here we go!

You open the message. It reads:

Hello. I don't know who I can reach with this thing, but if you're reading this, I need help. I woke up on a boat. It sprung a leak a few minutes ago. I don't know how to swim. I have some sort of suit on, but I won't help me breathe underwater. I've lost my memory, so I don't know how I got here. Please, send help.

Sounds serious. You can either send a reply or call your commander and have them figure out who this person is, and how they got your email.

(If choice A is chosen, please write in what you'd like the message to be.)

You decide to help this person. You shoot back an email.

Can you see land close by? If so, tell me what you see.

You get an immediate response.

I think I can see a little island to the west. It isn't very green, though. My compass hasn't broken.

You can now message your commander or write back a message.

(If you choose the second one, please write in what you want the message to be.)

This whole...situation is too strange for your liking. Your commander always knows what to do. So you pick up the phone and call her.

Hello? Armbruster, is that you?

Unfortunately. Way back when we first started out as a team, Aria said no one would be able to message me except you and the rest of the team. But now...well, someone just sent me a message. No one from Unity. They appear to be lost at sea. I can't trace the IP address back. What are your orders?

I'll get Aria and BESSIE on it. For now, try to find out anything and everything you can. Also, connect Lee to the message system.

She then hangs up, presumably off to email Lee and Aria. BESSIE is a nickname for a computer program you used back on the Unity. Lee and Aria are were, and still are, your crew's most tech proficient members. They do most of the computer stuff. What did you handle back on board?

Hates you? That might be a bit extreme. He did send you to some pretty bad places. Remember the time he tried to push you into the Marina trench? Or when you were all scuba-diving by the great barrier reef, and he pushed you in front of a shark? Well, you know, maybe he does hate you. But someone on the ship must have liked you. Was it Aria and Lee, the techies? (So to speak.) Or maybe Steve, the electrician? Or even the ship's doctor, Annah Reed?

A) Aria/Lee

B) Steve

C) Annah

You did end up working with the both of them a lot. You and David, your partner in crime. Just kidding. He was your recon partner. He dated Aria most of the time you were on board. This was pretty typical of the crew members. When you spend a lot of time with a group of people, you all get pretty close. Did you ever develop feelings for any of the other crew members?

(Write in. You may use a pre-existing character, or create a new one. Just give them a name and a job.)

You ended up spending a lot of time around her no matter what, and you devolved feelings. During your recon missions, you got hurt. So you would go to Annah for treatment. Now, were you very forward about your feelings, or were you more subtle?
