A life in chaos

"You mean my father. . . He barely notices when I go missing. But I sense I'm detaining you from something so I'll let you go. Thank you once again." Seraphine said goodbye to the elder and then she limped slowly off in the direction she had come from.

Ring!! Ring!!!

Seraphine hit the button on the side of her watch and looked down at her older sister's picture.

"Sera, where are you? I woke up and you were gone!"

"Gena, relax. I just went out."

"Why, though? The sun will be coming up soon. You need to get home!"

"I know. I know. I'm on my way now."

"Sera, what happened to your neck?"

Seraphine sighed. She really didn't feel like explaining what happened.

"I. . . ran into. . . Ramone. . ."

"What?! Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

"Gena, I'm fine. Just a little weak. I'm on my way back, okay? Will you cover for me until then?"

Her sister frowned, but nodded.

"Okay, but you owe me."

Seraphine smiled.

"What's that put me at now? 10 favors I owe you?"

"More than I can count. Get home, Sera."

"Alright. See you soon." Seraphine hit the button again and her sister's picture disappeared.

The sire was already gone he had found no hunt but his childes will not go hungry he had only assumed her sire was like a father so he thought nothing of her words nor did he care. He fed his family from his blood it made him weak but unlike them he would not die.

Seraphine drank the blood of the coven member her sister had found.

Once Sera had arrived back at the manor they lived in, Genevieve greeted her and immediately sent for someone.

Now, having her thirst quenched and her strength back, Sera began telling her sister about what happened.

"So, who was that vampire who saved you?"

"I don't know. I've never seen him before. He seems older though. Like he's been around for awhile." Sera ran a hand through her natural blue hair.

"We need to tell father about him."

"Gena, no! We can't tell him. He would lock me up in the manor and never allow me out. Not that he pays that much attention now. . ."

"Sera, don't say that. Father pays attention to you. He's just. . . busy."

"No, he just doesn't care to pay attention. Sometimes I think he wishes I wasn't his daughter. . ."

"Hey, that isn't true. . ." Genevieve put an arm around her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "Do you remember when Ramone took you the first time?"

Sera nodded, fumbling with her thumbs.

"Father sent almost every coven member out after you. He wouldn't stop until you were back home with us."

"And when I was home he wouldn't let me out of his sight for two weeks." Sera added.

"He does care, Seraphine. . . He just doesn't always show it." With that, Genevieve stood up. "It's pretty late. You should get some rest."

She nodded, seeing the small ray of sun shining through the crack in the window shudders.

"Good night, Sera. . ."

"Night, Gena. I love you, sis."

"I love you too."

Seraphine then changed and climbed into the large bed she slept in.

Lucifer returned to the house his little group was in. His eldest childe was worried since he came home beaten up a bit "What happened?" he asked softly touching a bit mark.

"I treaded into anothers territory is all Max I'm fine, I was not able to procure food you and your sisters will feed off me." Lucifer told him speaking fondly to his childe.

The twins walked up hand in hand one a brunette girl the other blonde. "Mr Lucifer?" the brunette looked at him.

"Yes Annalee?" he asked she ran to him and hugged him almost crying she was scared she;d loose the only man who she felt she could call him father.

Sera tossed and turned in her bed, having a nightmare.

"Sera. . . You know better than to try and run from me. Don't you remember what happens?" Ramone's voice echoed throughout the long hallway.

"Please, just let me go."

"Aw, but you just got here." Ramone pretend pouted.

Sera frowned, backing up against the wall. She was trapped in a dead end.

Ramone took, long, graceful strides towards her.

"So beautiful. . ." He stroked the side of her cheek.

She spit in his face, enraging him.

Fangs barred, Ramone practically growled at her.

"I take you away from that prison and this is how you repay me?"

"You kidnapped me from my home!" Sera screamed in his face. "If anything, this place is the prison!"

"You know that's a lie, dear Seraphine. . ." He whispered into her ear, causing fear to creep up her back.

Sera squeezed her eyes shut.

"You know, since the day we met, I wanted to make you mine. . ." Ramone pushed her hair to the side, bending down to her neck. "Now I have the chance."

"NO!!"

Just as Ramone sank his fangs into her neck, Sera jolted awake.

"It was just a dream. . ." She rubbed her temples where a headache was forming. Swallowing, she realized her throat was really dry.

She got out of bed, walking over to the window.

It was the next day and Sera's stomach was grumbling.

"I should go get something to-"

RING!!

Before she could finish her sentence, her watch began to ring.

"Good morning, sleepy head." She was greeted by Genevieve's face on the tiny electronic screen.

"How are you so chipper this early?"

"Well, seeing as it's technically night and not morning, I'm normal."

"Yeah, but since we're vampires, everything is reversed. So night is our morning."

"You have a point. Anyways. . . Father is in the Conference Room. . ." Genevieve sighed. "He wants to see you. . ."

"See me? Why? He never asks for my presence."

"Well, I. . ." Genevieve paused. ". . . told him about last night. . ."

"You did what? Gena! Why?" Sera shouted at the watch-phone.

"Because Ramone and his coven were spotted near the Manor again."

Sera froze in her tracks. After what happened last night, Ramone should have been weak.

"Sera? Sera? Sera!"

"What?"

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I'll get dressed and be there in ten minutes." Before Genevieve could say anything else, Sera ended the call. "This should be fun. . ."

She dressed, thinking of all the events of the previous night.

"I wonder what happened with that elder. . ."

When night fell the sire untangled himself from his childes. All three still sound asleep he pet his eldest "Max... you watch your sisters I'll go out again and hunt once more," he whispered he kissed each of the girls foreheads and left the shelter they had to again go out on a hunt a bit weak but funtional none the less.

Max was worried Lucifer might be born and old but he wasn't unkillable. The black haired childe got out of bed to watch out the window to await his sires return.

Lucifer again ran through the buildings looking foor food he was fast and quiet but to other immortal undead he had a very strong scent.

Sera entered the Conference Room nervously. She could only remember of two instances her father requests her presence alone. The first one being the night her mother passed and the second being the first time Ramone took her.

Her father, Pierre, sat at the head of the table, his shaggy blue hair falling into his pink-colored eyes. He was looking down at a report of some kind and when he heard the door to the room open, he looked up.

"Hello, Sera. Why don't you have a seat?" He gestured to the chair directly across from his.

She nodded, sitting down wordlessly.

Pierre locked eyes with his daughter. "I assume your sister informed why I called you down here?"

"Yes. And I'm really sorry, Father. . . I shouldn't have gone out last night."

"You're right. You shouldn't have, but you did. Do you realize what could have happened?" He stood and walked over to her.

Sera just sat there, not saying anything.

"Sera, you could have been killed." Pierre's expression changed from serious to saddened. "Why do you insist on gallivanting out there alone? When you're outside these walls, you put yourself at risk. We're in the middle of a war, Sera. In war there are casualties and I just can't have you being one of those. . . I couldn't live with myself if you were harmed. . ."

Sera frowned, feeling very guilty at that moment.

"I just wish you would stop putting yourself in these situations." Pierre sighed before continuing. "Now, I really called you down here because one of the guards spotted Ramone's coven in our territory. . ."

Sera's heart beat loudly in her ears. She didn't like the vampire being anywhere near her. "How did they get through? You have the strongest of our coven guarding every corner of the outer flanks."

"We're not sure. . . We're still trying to figure that out."

Sera stood up, walking over to the only window in the room. The sound of her heartbeat was becoming a deafening roar and the world was starting to tilt out from under her.

"Sera!" Pierre rushed forward and caught her before she hit the ground.

"I. . . don't feel. . . well. . ." Her world went black then.

Lucifer was not having luck hunting it seemed they needed to move again so few actual blood filled bodies around here.

He stopped to rest for a moment he was not at his top after all. He closed his eyes and sat down stretching out his long legs. he sighed heavily.

"Seems... we will not find a home here either," he told himself.

Back at the house Max was pacing the window watching out he was not at all happy with lucifer out there alone. his pacing was working up the girls and they began to cry making him stop to go tend to them and assure them it would be ok.

Sera's eye fluttered opened. Looking up, she realized she was in the comforts of her own room.

"What happened?" She thought out loud, sitting up.

It was only then did she feel the pain at the side of her neck. She reached up to her neck, rubbing the throbbing part.

Why does it hurt so much? She thought, willing the pain to go away.

She sat several moments, rubbing her neck, trying to get the pain to go away. Before long it started to become unbearable to the point she couldn't even see straight.

He's near. . . The Ancient One has returned. . . An ominous voice said in her head and suddenly a vision of the elder vampire from the previous night appeared. He was wandering through abandoned buildings, looking for something.

Lucifer was about ready to call it a night he could be in the sun thanks to his age but he would not leave Max and the girls without protection since daylight was not too good for their health.

He sniffed the air at this point he'd hunt rats if he had to.

The vision went on to show the elder vampire searching for food.

He's weak. You must help him, childe. . .

I don't even know who he is. Nor do I know who you are. Why are you in my head?

That is not of importance. Right now you must help the Ancient. He's being hunted.

Suddenly, Ramone appeared in the vision, going after the elder alone. Normally Sera would have considered this foolish, but something seemed different about Ramone. As if he were radiating a new power Sera had never seen before.

Ramone walked straight towards the elder, not one bit afraid. Upon closer examination, it seemed as though the vampire was in some kind of trance.

The vampire reached out to the elder, claws out as he shoved his hand into the elder's back.

"RAMONE NO!" Sera screamed out and the vampire seemed to turn around, having heard her.

He heard me. How could he have heard me? Did the elder hear me too?

The elder vampire cursed himself for not paying atention pain flaired through him and hell he was hearing voices. The Vampire grit his teeth and pulled away the wound in his back would take time to heal even for a vampire how lucky he was that his heart was undamaged he would grow weak though loosing blood like this. He faced Romone something was off. Lucifer bared his teeth and let out an almost feral growl he was seeing red. Though he wasn't sure if it was from blood loss or rage. He stood in a ready stance though of course fighting would be hard to do.

Sera blinked, the vision disappearing.

What had it meant? What was going on with Ramone? What about the elder?

She groaned, feeling pain on the side of her neck again.

"Ow! What is that?" She rubbed her neck gently.

Lucifer was shocked when nothing happened was the other not going to fight anymore? then he would flee. And flee he did too wounded to win a fight but well enough to run at least for a short time. He would heal but he needed blood. He needed it badly.

Sera walked over to her nightstand where a glass of water waited for her.

She took a drink out of it, enjoying the refreshing cool of it.

Sitting down on her bed, she tried sorting out what just happened with that vision. Strangely, apart of her worried for the elder's safety.

She shook her head. She shouldn't be worried about a stranger who she knew nothing anything about.

You don't know him. . .

Lucifer kept running till he couldn't fore his legs further he was in another covens territory but he really had no choice. Maybe they had enough to share, compassion for a sire supporting three childes. He fell against a statues base and hissed in pain he needed to heal before continuing further in a possibly hostile place.

Sera leaned against a wall, in unbearable pain. Not being able to take it anymore, she left her room in search of medicine.

Not being able to find any, she sank to the ground in defeat.

Her vision started blurring, her heart a defeating roar in her ears.

"What is going on?!" She declared, trying to figure it out.

That's when she sensed it.

Someone had wandered into their territory.

Was it Ramone? One of his coven?

Her pain forgotten for a moment, Sera went outside the Manor, following the scent of the stranger.

The site was to injured to move any further, his mind went to his childes the young twins could not yet survive without him.

"If any gods are listening let me get home to them... I can not leave them to die." He looked to the sky and tried to find an answer a way out of this.

Sera followed the scent to one of the statues at the gates.

It took her eyes a little while to adjust but soon her vampiric sight kicked in.

"You're the one who rescued me!" She declared, realizing it was the purple haired man. "What're you doing here? If my father spots you then he'll kill you."

That's when she looked down and saw his wounds.

"Oh my! I need to get you to my sister quickly. She'll be able to heal you."

The vampire looked at her "I have three childes... I have to get back to them my body will heal... I just need the strength to get to them," he told her he looked oddly lovely even bleeding hurt and weak.

"At least allow my sister to give you some supplies. We can help you. Even provide you shelter." Sera frowned. "We'll just have to hide you from our father. He doesn't really take kindly to other covens in his territory. He's been like that since before we were born..."

"I don't want shelter we have shelter I need to get to my childes two are too young to survive without me," he said "Its all I ask is enough to get to them,"

"Okay. I have a compromise. Let me heal you and you can be on your way. And I'll keep it a secret that you were here. How's that sound?" Sera asked, a serious expression on her face.

"I don't want your charity," He told her "I just need to feed... thats all I need I'm too old for such a wound to kill me, but I just have to have strength," they were loosing time and he had a long way to travel.

"Alright. I'll give you some supplies and provide you with food for your family." Sera knew the elder wouldn't allow her to help him so she did the only thing she could do. She gathered several dead rabbits and other animals together. She also gathered several bags of blood and put everything into a satchel for him.

"Here you go."
