A hunter of Monsters

Syrrus

Wishful bard
Blasted, blasted, blasted.

Running through the tall grass she threw herself over the cliff, she went free fall for a few meters and processed by rolling back up on her feet as soon as she landed. Behind her ran her trusty companion, Cat. He was little else but a cat in fact, but as many knew the feline race were nothing like pet cats. They were fierce warriors, short but strong and awfully talkative.

"Watch out!!" She screamed from the top of her lunges as she threw herself to the side, dodging a fireball by an inch. She could feel the heat rush by her face and her widened eyes described the shock that went through her body. That had been too close. The giant beast that towered behind her was nothing to sniff at and in her defense, Ricci had not intended to interact with it. Not one bit.

The young woman continued to run, there was little else to do when she were this unprepared. Cat stumbling behind her and fell flat on his. The girl shouted and quickly turned, running sideways on a wall like a chinchilla to manage a perfect U turn, missing the giant dragoness just barely. Ricci threw herself onto her knees, slid the majority of the way towards her companion and grabbed him.

With cat under her arm she quickly stood back up, gazing upon the giant lizard who had slammed her head against the mountain wall. The beast was angry. It's orange scales shined like gold in the glowing sunlight. It craned it massive neck and caught the human who had been snaking around her nest with her legs on her back, running into the thick woods. The human would never be able to escape so the monster gave chase, after roaring like thunder.

Ricca jumped over a large root that blocked her path and continued forward, cursing loudly. The creatures of the forest, which usually attempted to attack her whenever they saw her decided it was best to stay hidden for close behind came the dragoness, destroying trees, bushes and plants in its path. She clearly wanted revenge for something or rather. The young woman seemed less intent of accepting this challenge, for she was far from stupid. In fact; she quite enjoyed her life which was why she ran and ran. The leather, feathers and cloth that hang around her slender figured snapped and swayed in the wind behind her. It was easy enough to move around in her clothing, which was why she wore it. She wasn't much for body armor - it made sneaking and running so much harder - thought she could admit that in situations like this she probably would have liked at least a helmet that wasn't made of her own brown hair.

Teon had heard the commotion and came running, dragging his blade behind him, he tracked this beast for months and now was his chance, he chased the beast, unaware of the young lady running from it, he had managed to grab hold of its tail and began to drag himself up to the beasts back. He finally reached and stumbled toward the area of the beasts heart.

Of course would it have been that easy anyone would have done it. The beast started to move back and forth, trying its best to shake the other human off him. The commission, seeing as the angry roars were now exchanged by even angrier and slightly panicked ones, caused Ricci to quickly stop in her tracks, wobble forward for a moment before turning just in time to widen her eyes and throw herself out of the way, for the dragon had started to fly and went crash landing into the ground just where the young girl had been standing, back first. Clearly the dragoness didn't seem all too happy with having a rider.

Ricca tossed Cat as far as she possible could, causing him to land safe and sound beneath thick roots of a even thicker tree. She wouldn't want her best friend to get harmed, after all. She then followed suit, deciding to hide in silence. If that man - whoever he was - wanted to fight that monster just like that then so be it. She wasn't going to get thorn to pieces for the sake of nothing.

He slammed if 7 foot blade deep into the dragons heart, panicking as it began to crash to the ground, he was thrown off as it crashed, hitting something and blacking out, thinking Am I dead..?

Great, he didn't seem to have as much control as he looked like he had. Sighing heavily she quickly decided to act. The great beast was still trying its hardest to get back up on its feet and Ricca had already laid her eyes upon the hunter who had attack it. Technically the man had saved her life, getting the attention of the Dragoness, which meant that she owned him one. She quickly scurried out of her hide out just to grab hold of the first thing that was connected to the man, which happened to be his foot and without thinking about anything else she started to pull.

Surprisingly the young woman were fairly strong. She did indeed managed to move the man - would he not struggle to stop her - into the hole in the ground where she had Cat had been hiding. She pressed him against the ground and the roots, trying to keep him low and quiet as she watched the giant dragon get back up on its feet. Roaring and searching for its prey.

Funny that even hunters could become the hunted. Ricca knew for a fact that she was going to find them unless something was done. So, without thinking about a second option she tossed a stink berry from her bag as far as she possible could causing the dragoness to chase it. Thundering footsteps was shaking the ground as it ran off.

Teon slowly opened his eyes, blinking spots from his eyes, his side hurt badly he saw the woman and mutter "What..Ergh.."He winced from the pain in his side.

"Shush!" She quickly said, pressing a finger a bit too hard against his lips. Damnable man. She continued to peek up over the edge of the hole, making sure the dragoness wasn't coming back, it didn't seem like it. It would be impossible not to notice or hear if it indeed was returning. Sighing deeply the young woman sank down upon her knees. She hadn't noticed her exhaustion until recently. "Ugh.... Bah!" She muttered sky wide as she sat down in a huff. Peering up at the tree above them. This was a pretty good hide out, perhaps she could even made it a second home, unless rain would cause her to drown in her sleep.

"Did it-" She was almost getting offended, as if he had spit in her face. Of course it hadn't died! Silly man. She peered around the hole when he mentioned his sword and frowned slightly. She hadn't seen it, to think of it. Ricci decided to shrug, she was too tired to stand up. Perhaps it was still stuck in the dragoness? That could be rather tricky. "I dunno, I didn't see it. Nice jump by the way. Where are you from, the circus?" She smirked down at him from where she sat, raising a tin and brown eyebrow.

"For your information Im a northern man. And Id been hunting that beast for days. I had a trap set and you disturbed it!" His voice slowly turned angry, he lost a good sword because of her. He didnt have the money for a new one.

"Wait, you're going to blame that mess on me? How dare you!" He sounded mad, when both could play that game. "I just saved your crazy hide, you can at least be a little grateful. Besides, how where I suppose to know that you had a trap set up? It was trying to eat me for lunch!" She wanted to mention that she could just as well have left him out there and let the dragon eat him for lunch but she decided against it. Ricca didn't which to be petty, if he wanted to play the blame game then it was all on him. She wasn't going to take part of it. Not to any great expense anyway.

"Excuse me if I don't want to get eaten just because of a stupid sword." She muttered. This man was hopeless. Perhaps he was one of those people? Not that she was certain who anyone of those people were either. Sighing heavily for a second time that day she shook her head heavily and then gave all her attention to Cat who had woken up, looking straight back at her.

He attempted to stand. Successful in his attempt he said. "Im going after it..If you want to tag along and get some of the spoils you can.." He walks out and begins to follow the blood trail, growing silent.

She crawled out after him, still frowning. This man was insane, not only was he going after that dragoness but he also wouldn't mind to share the spoils? It sounded a bit off to her but she hadn't been at the village in many years, perhaps she had simply forgotten how people actually behaved around each other? Cat hurried after, shaking dirt out of his fur. "I am not interested in nay spoils, though I wouldn't mind some of her eggs, one or two for dinner." She pointed. "I know where her nest is, I was there earlier."

"She must've retreated there.." He drew a short sword from his belt and muttered something. "If you see it distract it. Im going to try to plunge my sword deeper in. It didn't go all the way if it did it would've been dead."

Ricci snorted at him. She was a hunter though but she did things different from him, apparently, not that his way was wrong in any way. "I don't think you'll be able to reach the heart no matter how hard you try. Her scales is sturdy like a mountain. If I were you I'd try and cut off her tail first and then try and rid of the scales. But I'm not you so what do I know?" She crossed her arms behind her neck and started to walk forward, grinning to herself.

"Why would I want to distract anything for you? You just insulted me. Besides, I only want her eggs." She poked his shoulder with a long finger. "You'll be a good enough distraction for me anyway."

"Get us both killed then..Idiot." He growled angrily, and marched ahead of her, straight into the nest. He looked around before cursing angrily. "She must be somewhere.." He began to look around quietly, searching for some sign of it. "Not even any eggs for you Lady.."

Ricci frowned and peered down upon Cat who was gazing upon the other hunter which now was running head first into the nest of the dragoness. Slowly the feline would look up at her as if he didn't believe his eyes. She simply shrugged and hurried after the male. "Perhaps they do things way too different in the north?" She asked herself as she entered the nest. She was still tired after running for her life earlier and she couldn't say that she enjoyed the idea of once again having to run for her life once again. At least she would get some of the dragoness' eggs? That would at least be enough to keep her interest up and seeing as the man promised her some of the spoils she probably could take the tail scales, some claws and a wing as reward. She'd craft her own gear out of that stuff in no time!

Ricci entered the lair and the first thing she did was to throw a small rock at the big dragon who quickly craned its neck towards her and the taunting feline. The dragoness was then running after her, quickly and angrily. It had been hiding, upside down in the tree like a bat but the man was right, the eggs were indeed gone.

"AAAH! Help me!" Ricca shouted.

Teon looked up and grinned, waiting for the dragoness to run by him. He then ran after it, eggshells crunching under his feet as he leaped and landed on its back by sheer luck, he stumbled to the half way in blade, stumbling as the dragon took each step, he slammed into the back of the dragon after losing his footing and held on for dear life thinking This was such a bad idea!

"This was an idiotic idea!" Ricci screamed from the top of her lunges, she had no idea that he man had been thinking the exact same things. She already felt extremely tired after just running a few steps and had to throw herself to the side to avoid the dragoness rushing her. The dragon hit the rock wall, though clearly full of rage, enough to roar and turn on a dime to continue following the girl, trying his best to shake the male off of her back. "Do something for the love of gods!!" Ricca continued to scream as she once again threw herself out of the way. Cat joined the male on the back of the dragon, climbing it with great ease.

He grunted as he crawled toward his blade, he managed to finally grab the hilt, standing and slamming his weight down on it, the blade plunging with a sickening squelch, the dragoness' eyes rolled up in its head, as it shuddered as slammed into the rock floor of the cave as Teon held on so he wasn't flung off.

Cat shouted as the giant beast suddenly lost its strength and fell into a bundle on the stony ground. He landed neatly upon the ground next to the dragoness head and quickly got up on his feet to run to his mistress who cheered happily. "Great job. Well, maybe you're not as big of a circus freak as I thought!" She moved forward and grabbed one of her own swords, it was a mystery as to where she had hid it. "I'll be taking my share now!" She said proudly a she began to carve in the thick hide. She needed some of this.. oh and some of that too!
