Sole Survivor
Roll for Initiative
☼ Welcome to My New (and slightly improved) Partner Search Thread! ☼
This time around I've decided to keep it nice and simple. All that BBCode jazz is awesome to look at; however, I'm more interested in getting straight to the point and meeting more amazing people. Recently, I've gotten some cravings and I'm hoping others will take interest in them. First, I'll talk a little bit about myself so you can get an idea about who you'll be writing with as well as what I'm looking for exactly. I enjoy tea, video games, horror movies, and very cheesy pick-up lines every so often. I have one dog who is basically my child (and who thinks he is just a smaller human). I do a lot of writing on my own personal stories as well as shit-posting on Tumblr in between periods of writer's block. No, I don't have any Tumblr blogs dedicated to my characters at the moment due to keeping up with my main ones being a hassle as it is. Over all I consider myself to be pretty laid back and chill. I get passionate about my stories and characters. A warning: If you decide you want to write together, I can't promise that I won't gush about our characters. If I'm invested I'll make playlists, mood boards, write little one offs about them, and all sorts of extras for them! I love chatting outside of our actual roleplay, because it's how I met some of my dearest friends.
Okay, I'll stop ramble. Here's what you came here for:
I tend to write anywhere from two paragraphs upward depending on what is currently going on in our roleplay. Sometimes posts end up shorter do to action or dialogue. Other times they can be long, detailed, and set up background/story. I like to think I range on average from 2 - 8 paragraphs. Now when it comes to my replies, I can't honestly say how long it will be between them. I like to do at least one or two times a week; however, if I can do more I tend to write as often as I can. My goal is once a day, but that doesn't always get to happen. This all depends on my real life as well as motivation. An important note to mention is that if we do write together to check my profile. That is where I post my absences as well as when I return.
I can do pm based roleplays as well as thread based. I tend to lean more towards pm because I seem to get better notifications that way. But if you prefer one way over another let me know.
I love to plan out stories! I will ask questions, answer questions, throw out suggestions, and do my best to hold on my weight when it comes to our story. This means if you like world building, I'll help you craft a new world just for us. Need some side characters written for your character's backstory? I got you covered, my dude.
Due to my schedule at times I can be gone for a while, so, I'm understanding and patient when it comes to replies. If you get busy or something comes up, I'll wait and won't rush you. I will check in after a while just to make sure you're okay if I haven't heard nothing at all.
Have a bad day and don't want to roleplay? Cool! Just need to rant about it? I'm here and I'll offer any advice I can if you want it. Or I'll just listen. Whatever works for you.
Just to add: my characters are my characters. I want to focus on character development so this means I don't want to play your bad boy to your good girl all the time. If it works for the plot that's fine but if it is an open world that we create I'd like to have say who my characters are. Non-Binary, P.O.C, and LGBQT+ will be included.
I love characters! I tend to have at least one main character with rather sizable cast of secondary / side characters.
World building is quite enjoyable as well!
Romance is something I am fond of admittedly. I like to include it in my stories if it works out for a reason.
I'd like my partner to be able to write at least one solid paragraph. I understand that sometimes the inspiration isn't there. I do enjoy getting long posts that I can read between my breaks or when I'm out and about. Just put some thought and care into your post, and we should be golden!
If my partner could respond at least once or twice a week I'll be happy. Like I mentioned about myself, sometimes I get busy and can't post at all. So, I get it. I'd like you to post as often as you can, because it gives me motivation to get my posts out.
If you lose interest - let me know! I won't have hard feelings at all. Trust me, I've ghosted and been ghosted. It isn't the best feeling. I'm always down for making a new roleplay, finishing the one we have, or if you want to go our separate ways that's fine too.
If you bothered to read this include your favorite color or favorite kind of drink in your comment or pm.
Dragon Age Plots:
| Character 1 = Original Inquisitor (One who goes through the rift | Character 2 = Current Inquisitor |
► Another Life: A long time ago on Tumblr there was a picture going around that said, "What if you chose who lived and who died?" The basic plot would be what if one Inquisitor fell through a rift into another timeline to where the Inquisitor in that time is a completely different person? For example: The main Inquisitor could be Adaar, but in the new timeline could be a dwarf, an elf, or a human? Basically it's shenanigans between trying to help the Inquisition while struggling because the people they know and love don't know them. And because things don't play out the exact same they can't tell what's going to happen next because it very well could be something completely opposite from what happened to them.
| Character 1 = ??? | Character 2 = ??? |
► Grey Wardens: Different backgrounds (possibly the defaults or our own original characters) come together to stop the blight! More shenanigans as they try to unite Thedas against the blight. Sort of re-doing the Origin's storyline but with our own characters (and possibly using cannon on the side).
| Character 1 = Possible Hawke, Warden, Inquisitor, or OC | Character 2 = ??? |
► Companions (DA Version): Create characters that could be companions for any of the main characters. Maybe Hawke's friends or allies for the Warden or Inquisitor. One of us could play the player character if we desired.
| Character 1 = Mage (Maybe Blood Mage?) | Character 2 = ??? |
► Aeonar or Bust: A mage is accused (possibly set up or maybe they are) of being a blood mage in one of the circles of Magi. Left with no choice they are taken to Aeonar, or so one would assume. During the journey for one reason or another the party of templars are attacked. It gives the perfect moment for mage to escape! Not long after the word of the mage’s escape returns to the circle. They send templars on their trail.
| Character 1 = ??? | Character 2 = ??? | (Here I would say we'd double or use more than 2 )
► For Hire: A nobleman (or woman) hires a bunch of rag tag mercenaries to do something. Possibly:
= Hunting down a mage lover or sibling that went missing.
= Someone stole something important from them, and they want it retrieved no matter what.
= To take someone out and discard of all the evidence.
= To return a slave.
= To solve a murder, and find the person responsible.
| Character 1 = Runaway Slave | Character 2 = ??? |
► A New Life: A runaway elven slave from Tevinter makes their way south in hopes of starting a new life. But this path is full of struggle, fear, trust issues, and all sorts of trouble. This could be done during their actual escape, or some time after when slavers come looking for them. I'm thinking the secondary character could either be a tevinter mage (maybe the apprentice) who took pity on the elf and decided to help them escape. Maybe they too weren't content with their life? Or an apostate on the run cuts a deal to help them so long as they don't blow their cover. A lot of different ways this one could go.
| Character 1 = ??? | Character 2 = ??? |
► Life in Kirkwall: Our characters could be from a number of different backgrounds that end up running into each other. Could be down during the events of Dragon Age 2, after, before, etc. Shenanigans would ensue.
Fallout Plot Ideas:
| Character One = Gambler | Character 2 = ??? |
► Blood Money: Look - living in the post apocalypse is hard. If you don’t got caps you don’t live for very long. Character 1 decided that they want to become as rich as possible. How do they plan on pulling this off? Well - gambling in New Vegas of course! Turns out that it was a terrible idea and now they owe a lot of caps to some very shady people. They were “generously” given a time limit to pay it all back ( and with a little extra to make sure that they don’t get to in too much trouble) or they have to pay it in their blood. Character 1 is stuck in a sticky situation. Can they come up with the caps before it is too late? Or do they hire someone to protect them with the guise that they’ll pay them back swimmingly.
| Character 1 = Synth | Character 2 = Railroad Agent |
► The Runaway: Character 1 is a synth who by the skin of their teeth got away from the institute. It was a close call and they were injured (if you don’t want them to have been that’s fine too). But they don’t get a moment’s rest before the institute starts sending people to hunt them down dead or alive. Rumor has it there is a place where a synth could get some help, so, that’s where they head. Following the trail they end up coming in contact with the Railroad. There they are assigned an agent to help them get settled and hide away from those who are searching for them. But it’s never that easy, is it?
| Character 1 = Synth (Runaway or Spy) | Character 2 = Brotherhood Member|
► A Good Soldier: This follows similar to Danse’s story with a little twist here and there. A synth (either escaped from the institute or put there by the institute) runs into the brotherhood of steel. Either seeking sanctuary in a very heavily armed band of soldiers, or carrying out the institute’s words to sabotage them - the synth weasels their way into its ranks. They know at any minute they could be discovered and terminated. Keeping secrets and riding on a thin line can be exciting, but what if someone found out? A brotherhood member (perhaps a friend or someone who doesn’t trust them) stumbles across them talking to themselves, a holotape, or notice they start acting fishy on a mission. What happens when they call the synth out? Can they keep a secret or will the synth meet an unfortunate end.
| Character 1 = Sole Survivor/Lone Wanderer/Courier | Character = ??? |
► Companions (Fallout Version): For this one I imagine one of us being either the Sole Survivor, Lone Wanderer, or Courier. The other would play a role of a companion (original character) that they meet along the way.
Medieval Plots (could be fantasy):
| Character 1 = King / Queen | Character 2 = Servant / Knight / Etc. |
► To Seize a Throne: The current King or Queen has recently lost their spouse (we could come up with a reason). During a ball in honor of the lost consort, neighboring kingdoms send their nobles and heirs in hopes of them catching the eye of the newly single ruler. However, it is never that simple. During the night one of the neighboring kingdoms has decided to attack! They set fire to the palace in hopes of killing off the current king / queen (and their family if we wanted them to have children) as well as all the other nobles. This way they could show up and go on a “revenge quest” to hunt down the monsters who did this. Luckily, the royal escapes! They are aided by a knight, their general, or a servant who gets to their chambers to warn them. But their family, if they have one, will not survive. They hide in the cover of night having to watch as the flames burn down their home. The next day the guilty kingdom’s heir is found “alive” and has decided that in the meantime he/she will rule till they can find a new leader. But the king / queen who escapes has no idea who set the fire (the other kingdom’s soldiers could have been wearing armor with no loyalty visible) and it spirals into a mess of trust issues, false marriages, and betrayal? Our king / queen has a choice: Go into hiding or try to take back their kingdom.
|Character 1 = Prince / Princess | Character 2 = Peasant |
► Prince(ss) and the Pauper: The prince/princess of the kingdom has gotten bored with their royal duties. They seek excitement! For years now they have been sneaking out of the palace in the dead of night to go amongst the peasants. The life of a peasant is challenging, and something about it just allures the royal. They end up befriended a local peasant who shows them all of what they’re missing. But the peasant doesn’t get it. Why would someone want to trade a life of lavish for living in the streets? Turns out the royal has decided that they no longer want to live the life of royalty (for any reason) and are going to run away with the hopes that they can be the guiding light of their own fate. But what about the throne? Turns out their peasant friend wants to take it easy for a while. They make a deal, and switch places. I was thinking since our characters could be different genders or might not look alike, we could have the royal family wear masks to give them this mysterious aura of power as well as fingery that might be hide a figure better.
| Character 1 = Ambassador for K1 (Focused on Peace) | Character 2 = War General ( Focused on War) |
► In Times of Trouble: Two kingdoms vastly different in beliefs have been butting heads over the last five or so years. One kingdom favors peace and making treaties over getting their hands dirty. While the second kingdom favors conquering and finding honor in battle. At this point both sides are at the brink of throwing in the towels of this fragile peace and deal with this in the only true way - war. However, both kingdoms know that war wouldn’t be so easy. They would lose all their funding, many of their loyal soldiers, and become a weakened target for other kingdoms to attack. So, the royal families hand pick their most trusted advisors to meet in neutral ground to discuss a possible treat. K1 (the peaceful one) sends an ambassador while K2 sends their war general. Can the two come to equal terms? Or will their differences get the better of them and lead to a full blown war?
Modern Plot / Futuristic Ideas (With a twist):
| Character 1 = Home Owner - Renter | Character 2 = Ghost |
► Ghost Busters: Character 1 rents out an apartment that is in a shadier part of town since they've fallen on hard times. With little money and not many people to count on (or perhaps out to prove they can live on their own) they have no choice but to make this work. They get a job, go about life, and maybe even make some friends. Little do they know that they aren't living alone. Years ago something terrible happened (an accident or murder) causing the spirit of Character 2 to linger. The house, as far as Character 2 is concerned, belongs to them. They start to mess with Character 1 doing their best to drive them away; however, Character 1 isn't budging. They might leave for a while, but they always come back. Maybe the two could learn to see eye to eye. Or will Character 1 be driven away / mad.
| Character 1 = Survivor | Character 2 = Survivor or ??? |
► End of the World: Two years ago a virus known as Z1H3 ravished the world. At first people assumed it to be just a terrible new strain of the flu; however, it soon became apparent this was no flu. It caused the body to quickly deteriorate, become violent, left disgusting sores all over the body disfiguring those infected, and finally killed them painfully. Within the first few months the world tried to contain it. They failed. It spread, and with each infection it appeared to get stronger. Deaths came quicker. Those who were lucky simple died, but most ended up losing their mind and passing away only to come back with no control. Zombies. People now rally in bunkers and small settlements in hopes that they can find a cure.
| Character 1 = High Blood | Character 2 = Low Blood| (Or any sort of pairing.)
► Color of Your Blood: Based on on Homestuck in a way - it is the modern world but people have different color blood. The high bloods (purple, pink, and blue) often are the upper class with wealth and favor. They are few in number compared to the lower bloods (green, orange, and yellow). However, the most rare of bloods is red - and the most lowly of them. This is just an overarching idea that we could do with any plot. I almost tend to think either college or high school based stories with this would have the best fit. Sort of a popular kids versus the outcasts.
| Character 1 = ??? | Character 2 = ??? | (I'd like to double at least here. More the better. )
► Fly Me to the Moon: Based off some concepts of the 100 show, this first takes place in a space station/ship that is orbiting around the earth. Due to war and the effects caused by it - it is said that Earth is unable to sustain life. Thus a lucky number of survivors have taken to the skies, and have lived a rather peaceful life. This is fairly distant into the future, so, androids have been created and are basically personal servants that work alongside of the people. Coming up on the 200th year anniversary of them leaving Earth the station/ship malfunctions. Left with little choice the people aboard have three choices: select the few who can take the limited life pods to Earth in hopes that it can save them, stay aboard the station/ship and attempt to fix it whilst risking their lives, or sealing off the damaged section of the station/ship and survive as long as possible on limited supplies. But the catch is - Earth is thriving just not in the way that they expected.
Under each of the fandoms I listed, I'll go into depth about how I feel about doing cannon characters. If I say that I won't do them - I won't. So please don't try to convince me.
Dragon Age (Origins, 2, and Inquisiton)
- I am okay with playing certain cannons here. I've done it for Inquisition the most. Now, if I am to play a cannon character it will not be my main. I'll have my original character (or two) and if you want me to play a love interest (or companions) I can do that. Just note that I will, again, not be just playing a cannon character for your OC to romance. If you want to play a cannon - that's fine by me as long as you play them as true to their character as you can.
- I am fine with you , or myself playing the main player character (Inquisitor, Warden Commander, or Hawke).
Fallout (3, New Vegas, and 4)
- No cannon characters here. If we need them for a quick mention as a background character, fine. You can wing a cannon character if you like, but I will not.
- Again, either one of us can be the courier, sole survivor, or lone wanderer.
The Walking Dead
- I love the show, but I can't do the cannon characters. This is because I feel I can't do these characters justice. If you want you can.
Twilight
- No cannon characters on my part, but once more you can do it if you like.
Fantasy: Give it to me! I'm all about this.
Slice of Life: I like a twist, but I do enjoy normal every day life.
Sci-Fi : Throw me your androids and space things!
Fandom: Clearly I'm obsessed with them. You can ask me - but I'm sort of picky.
*** Pairings coming soon because I'm hoping to do some of my plots before just doing pairings. If you have pairing ideas you can let me know! I'm into a lot of things, but if you offer a pairing to try I'd like you to have a plot for it. Or at least a basis for what we'll be doing.
