He looked at the ground. "I know," he whispered. "I don't like it but I know. I respect it."

"It's not because I don't like you" she sighed "it's the opposite"

He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"I....I couldn't let you go through what Jack does to me" she sighed "I think you'd blame yourself"

He sighed. "Then at school. Can we be friends?"

"Do you want to be? You know what I do" she looked away

"So?" he said with a short laugh. "I've never had many friends."

"You fine hanging out with girls?" She smiled

He smirked. "Yes."

"Then I'll get you in" she smiled "but no sleeping with my friends"

He rolled his eyes, smirking. "No promises but I'll try."

"Wait" she looked around "where's my phone?"

He paled. "I don't know. Where'd you leave it?"

"Over there" she pointed to the corner "I need it"

He slid the phone out from his back, handing it to her slowly, looking away. "This it?" he muttered.

She paled "you didn't read it did you?"

He mumbled something, turning away from her.

"Please tell me you didn't" she started to cry

"I did," he whispered, turning to her. "I'm sorry, Nikki. I couldn't help it."

"You can't tell anyone" she said frantically

He put his hands up. "Alright. I won't."

"Good" she whimpered

He moved over and hugged her. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be" she sighed "he can do what he likes"
