From the beginning then.
It all began when a group of adventurers decided to descend upon the closest dungeon and defeated the boss. After that, the NPCs or the Denizens, as they are now refereed to, became self aware. This is thought to be because of the defeat of the boss, but no one knows what is the truth as of yet. After that all of hell broke lose when the Adventurers were ambushed by Denizens while on their way to what seems to be a simply quest. The Adventurers retaliated and massacred the attacking Denizens, antagonizing the rest when stories of the battle were spread. It was unknown back then, but Group 1 recently found out that the Denizens were stirred by a religious organization called The Order of Phoenix, T. O.o .P., if you will.
After that, the two Groups became defined. Group 1 went on to face a hero known as Rok, and Group 2 face another called Sun Zhao, there was also a Group 3, but their fates were unkown. Groups 1 and 2, fought hard and were victorious, and they returned to town to rest. The player characters of Group 1 formally became a party on that night and attempts to string together the possible conspiracies behind their attack over dinner, and a player character of Group 2 became its leader and attempted to begin a guild and make peace with the Denizens. However, they were all too late by that time.
On the next day, a witch hunt of the Adventurers commence. All Adventurers were hunted, and though they can be revived at the temple of which they first came from upon death, the Denizens had already been awaiting and murdered them as they were revived, till the the Adventurers used up all of their lives and truly perish one and for all. However, a good number of Adventurers were able to escape, including Group 1 and Group 2.
Group 1, also known as Orlando and his merry band, consists of Orlando the leader, Kala the Fruitcake, Joshua the delivery boy, and Derren the one who struggles to fit in. This groups decided to head for the mountains to seek refuge and training with Rok, a hero they had previously defeated. (This is just the author's impression here, but the character's in this groups all has their own sort of inner conflicts that seem difficult to resolve.)
On Group 2, also known as the Alexander Ship, consist of the titular Alexander, Ashelynn, who is near blind, and the ever so timid Anne. They are on a voyage at sea on a quest for knowledge and romance, much less tangled up with the conspiracies Group 1 faces. (But who knows, they may just be experiencing a clam before the storm.)
That took way longer than expected but this is how I remembered it at least. Anyone cares to correct me?
