Background:
Names, they come and go especially when centuries pass between the granting of them, but Xochipilli has held on to his name, his title since the old days. Once a beloved member of Aztec society he was a partier, a thrower of great feasts, and a master of love. He met his match when a stranger drank him under the table and managed to be the only one standing at the end of the party. But this stranger, this demon as many called him was inspired by Xochipilli and loved his passion. So under a blood moon he offered Xochipilli the gift of immortality. The young Aztex was all too eager to accept without knowing just what he'd agreed to. But for several more years to come Xochipilli would be the nexus of thrill for the Aztec people. Then the empire would fall and take with it all his dreams and everything that he loved. Now he was alone, without a plan and without a friend. Curious to see a new world and learn where his enemies had come from, he made the long journey across the sea to Europe. It was a cold, wet, and dark place that paled in comparison to the vibrancy of his home, and he hated it. The foreign vampire would spend many months slaughtering on the streets of Spain. The streets ran red until Xochipilli happened upon an artist by the name of Vasco de la Zarza, a sculptor whose skill reignited something in the vampire that had long since died. He spared Vasco and instead befriended him after the sculptor showed him the artist underground of Spain. A world of beauty and freedom that even in its inadequacy was still a reminder of home.

His time with the artists would see Xochipilli become one of them, again finding his muses and turning his pain and loss into beauty. Not long into his career he would meet a patron, an heir to the Aragon family name. Meeting the nobility and enduring their smugness reminded Xochipilli of his bitterness towards the spanish and their crimes against his people, but the best laid plans take time. He would spend the next year worming his way into the bosom and eventually inner circle of the Aragons, becoming a close friend to the family by dangling the promise of immortality and power. On his patron's deathbed he gifted the man immortality in exchange for a large sum of his fortune. But as Xochipilli disappeared into the shadows the newly turned vampire ravished his kin and would spend many months on the run from the church and the spanish soldiers. Luckily for him he happened upon Xochipilli who did not hesitate to give his firstborn a swift death.

With the money he swindled from the Aragons, Xochipilli integrated himself into high society and regained some semblance of his old life. Parties, feasts, and beauty filled his home, but he did not forget that his goal was to ravage Spain. So he became patron to many artists and would turn the best and most talented of them into his minions. But as Spain's power seemed to continue to grow and people became more wary of him, he knew his dreams of a destroyed nation would not be possible. Not yet. So he left Spain and moved further into Europe to see what else the continent had to offer.

After many years of traveling alone and siring artists Xochipilli joined a vampire family. It was a change of pace from the solitude he'd been subjected to as artists are free spirits who shouldn't be tied down and shackled. After meeting this family, Xochipilli felt he had found a place to belong, a place to rest, although the origins and goals of some of the coven force him to keep some distance.

In eastern Europe Xochipilli ran into some trouble with some hunters and narrowly managed to escape their pitchforks and torches. It was a grim reminder that Spain was not his only enemy and that he did not belong in the world of humans. He only managed to escape thanks to a young arabic child who despite the bloodstains and fangs, helped him to hide. Hamza was an orphan who'd lost both his paretns to war and now fended for himself. Xochipilli of course saw much of himself in the poor boy and feared he'd face the same heartbreak and loneliness. But as Hamza nursed him back to health Xochipilli came up with a plan; with his own life seemingly in danger he wanted to pass down what he knew to someone, someone who had great potential. So he would start to teach Hamza of the world, how to care for himself, and of course of the arts. After a few years of the two traveling together Xochipilli turned Hamza and not because he was a talented artist, but because he had earned it through years of kindness and kinship. Unfortunately after he was sent to travel and see the world for himself, Hamza crossed paths with Sebastian and the two would burn with a passion for anarchy they would enable one another to pursue their dreams of a truly free world. Hamza writes Xochipilli sometimes and his letters are often of bloodshed and carnage in the name of balancing the scales for their lost loved ones.

England is home for this fallen artist who let pride undo all that he'd achieved. When Xhocipilli found Sebastian society had just decided to oust him after he painted a nude portrait of he and his patron's lover being intimate. The piece was impeccable and showed the skill that Sebastian had become famous for, but that didn't save him. Society deemed him unfit for the patronage of nobility and his galleries and showings would fall through soon after. But Xochipilli loved the passion in Sebastian's work and the audacity the mortal possessed was a bonus. So Xochipilli tasked him to prove his fearlessness and commitment to art; Sebastian met the challenge by painting the nobility of England hanging in their own gallows, one portrait for eveery lord and lady all done from memory. A curse on the rich and powerful of a nation that'd turned its back on him. Xochipilli hated Europe and since Sebastian signed his name to the art he satisfied the Aztec's requirements. AS a reward Xochipilli turned Sebastian, but the fledgling would prove too aggressive and restless to keep around for extended periods of time.

It was rare for Xochipilli to turn a Spaniard, but among the small collective Luis was a special case. He was a singer who put his pain into every note. The heartbreak in his voice resonated with Xochipilli's own broken heart and that was the only thing that stopped him from decapitating Luis when the tenor came to perform in his villa. Oddly enough the two would go on to form a bond since they were both victims of Spain. Eventually they would grow closer until they became lovers, but that wasn't enough to earn the gift of immortality. Luis was known to challenge Xochipilli, something few in his circle did, so he was given a challenge of his own. Luis was tasked to gain an audience with the king and/or queen of Spain and his voice had to be the reason for the meeting. It would take several years but Luis would eventually sing for royalty after learning to sing opera. As promised Xochipilli turned Luis into a vampire, but he would soon leave Spain and Luis would trail behind, following the first person to ever put so much faith in him. Their on again off again romance was the subject of many arias for Luis afterward.

At the caster's discretion the amount of energy can be increased causing it to become more dense. At this stage the dark energy begins to affect those within; weaker targets will become sick and/or dizzy while sturdier foes will only experience a bit of resistance when they try to move, like carrying around extra weight. - Dark Ambiance is not a viable spell for large spaces and requires continuous concentration to maintain it. Despite this, Rafael is brutal and vicious and kills with no remorse, seeing no inherent value to any lives outside of those close to him. Being born during the height of the Middle Ages meant that Rafael got to experience multiple great shifts in the world. He has seen empires rise and fall, and through it all his family always maintained a stranglehold on the business conducted in Venezia and beyond. The Michiel family was a powerful group of nobles that controlled trade and funding for military expeditions across Europe. It didn't take Rafael long to rise to prominence and take over his familial duties, always opting to remain the leader on the business and social side while his uncle handled the political side. Rafael even dabbled in holy practices since he developed a close relationship with some of the Bishops of the Holy Roman Empire and would regularly fund the construction of new cathedrals and renovations to the Vatican.

During this time, Rafael encountered Brigitte while exploring Europe. The two became close which led to him being turned into a vampire by her. This change only further enhanced Rafael's existing abilities and gave him an air of confidence that bolstered his position in Venezia. He parted ways with his progenitor for a few centuries, during which he dedicated himself to studying the dark arts of Chaos and expanding the Michiel family's business operations across the Middle East with the many caliphates and eventually the Ottoman Empire. He constantly had to change his name and identity to avoid suspicious eyes. The church began asking Rafael's family to participate more actively, which presented a problem for him given his newfound proclivities. Despite this, Rafael found ways to fund Christian missionaries and host several religious events on his estate. His apparent devotion to the faith earned him trust in very high places, which Rafael used to the fullest to get easy access to his victims. Most of these deaths were disguised under the banner of the Inquisition, earning him the moniker of Saint Guillotine.

During this time he met a woman by the name of Svedlana who he fell deeply in love with, even turning her. Unfortunately she was taken from him by holy knights during an Inquisition raid where she was caught off-guard. This death deeply hurt him and caused him to go on a rampage killing hundreds of holy knights and priests before he finally relented and fell into a deep depression.

After the establishment of the European colonies in the Americas, Rafael moved across the Atlantic to start a new life. It was there where he developed a love for hunting and sport, seeing figures such as Buffalo Bill as a source of inspiration. He also began to mingle more with mortal humans, enjoying their company and the outlook they had on life. More than once he found himself entangled with human women whose husbands had "mysteriously" disappeared. He found himself in New Spain many times under the guise of an American noble supporting the church. This earned him the nickname of "Mr. Santos." Finally, he moved up North where he reunited with Brigitte after many centuries, joining her clan as a family once more.

As the Matriarch of the Clan, Brigitte is the one who turned Rafael into the vampire he is today. He has the utmost respect and affection for her and is willing to do whatever it takes to carry out her will and protect her. She represents the strongest familial ties left for Rafael and she is far older than he is.

Being the second oldest, Xochipili is someone who Rafael respects and has tried to bond with. He considers him the second strongest familial tie he has in this world after their Matriarch. Rafael wants to protect his younger sibling although he knows how strong and capable he is.

Being the youngest, Emma is the member of the Clan that Rafael has the softest spot for. He's always looking out for her and trying to protect her. Rafael loves her deeply and cares for her closer to how a father cares for his daughter than a brother for a sister.

Emrys, situated within the realm of nobility and romantic ideals, is much more inclined to be reserved and reticent. He inherently embodies the qualities of a researcher, desiring to decode and assimilate the world on his terms. In his premise of understanding and comprehension, such traits have made Emrys prideful and poignant in his immortality. Nevertheless, a voracious appetite resides within him to elevate his family and protect the precious strands of his heritage. Appearance: Emrys is a sleek creature, dominating in shadows with a pallid demeanour and crested with a timid smile. Emrys’ presence compared to anybody in his family is described as minutely, a slender caricature who haunts the hallways with an air of mystery and often presents himself as an enigma. There is little to discern by his shrouded silhouette and ink-stained hands— he’s noted as important as the furniture. Despite his tall, five-foot-seven frame, there is still a graceful elegance to him that seems purposeful, engineered and focused. When Emrys slips out of his persona, there is a stated awkwardness, a twisting of his limbs that isn’t natural, and his concealed humanity is perhaps the rawest here.

Capability: Dark Understanding:

Emrys possesses the capacity to fabricate threads and create connective channels for other entities. His dark threads need to have an element of comfort or invite (ie— the person is comfortable around him) to attach a thread to someone’s psyche. He cannot attach his threads to entities with significant resistance or instability. His threads allow him to absorb knowledge, memories, and emotions. It resembles something like a siphon, drawing the information out and within himself. When in siphon mode, Emrys sprouts spider-like webs along his neck/arms/legs, digging into his chest and straining against his body when he absorbs too much.

History: Emrys didn't experience the brilliant eloquence of love and knowledge when he first started his life. His beginnings were much more sombre, a sickly child, confined to his bed, to a family that didn’t know what to do with him. With guaranteed wealth, material possessions held no importance in the scalping of his family’s social empire, and Emrys was one of many children forgotten in the crevices. However, he found solace in books, mentors, and fragments of knowledge that were scarcely offered to his hungry mind. It was later discovered that Emrys had a severely compromised immune system and limited mobility in his joints. Yet at the time, nobody could truly ascertain that about him, and his illnesses were defined as 'sinful' and 'misgivings of nature'.

His mother, a quaint thing in daintiness and softness, couldn’t bear to see one of her children in pain, and she never did. She was a confident socialite who preferred dedicating herself to the upcoming gathering and his father was much the same vein — pridefully stubborn and staunch in his traditions. His family at that time exuded opulence, notorious for blood purity and the dignity of the family name. Emrys shared no such views, but there was one person with whom he had a strong bond. Emrys recognized the benefactor to the family, who had a distinct worldliness about him and a noticeable air of travel. Each night, the benefactor would come to his room, the sound of the door creaking open, breaking the silence, and Emrys knew once more he would enter a new cognitive world. It carried on for two years, from his late teens and somewhere to his early adulthood. Yet, amidst the happiness, some moments were far from blissful.

The hallways were filled with whispers, creating an eerie atmosphere as rumours spread about Emrys' impending commitment and perhaps being moved elsewhere. His benefactor was a gracious shoulder, but more so in one other instance: an offer to break his mortal chains and ascend into an ethereal entity. In the depths of insanity, Emrys surrendered himself, his mind consumed by the belief that possibility was nothing more than an illusion.
