"All revolutions are a cycle. They begin when the government loses the faith of the people, and end soon after. All government's are, by their very nature, built by revolutions, both culturally and politically." -Carric Liadon, Renowned Elven orator and philosopher
Hello! I've recently begun watching the Son's of Liberty mini series from a few years back, and I'm interested in doing something similar to the American Revolution, but in a sort of...steampunk fantasy setting. The basics is that there is a colony of the nation of Byrne called Fallcrest, who have ruled themselves via a council of the races for almost a century. Fallcrest and it's surrounding colonies are valued for their access to precious metals such as gold, silver, and most importantly, iron for industry. This didn't last, however, as Byrne soon turned their eyes on guiding the colonies back under their control. It started small, more soldiers, more taxes. The people were of course angry. So Byrne likewise tightened security, so the people got angrier. Riots broke out. Big riots. More soliders came. More riots and protests came. Soon, the government sent an entire airship to deal with the riots, which was then raided and it's weapons stolen in protests. The rebels, known as the Harp Society, are slowly gathering an army. The working class, middle class, artisans, businessmen, and the occasional wealthy land owner. Everyone has to pick a side, or else get caught in the gears of revolution. To go over what society is like briefly, it's similar to Victorian/Revolutionary England. Most people are expected to act "proper," though things like homosexuality isn't looked down upon unless it impedes inheiritance. This is, however, a primarily male dominated society, mainly when it comes to dwarves. Elves, gnomes, and dragonborn are much more lenient with this, with the halflings and humans being stuck somewhere in the middle, with each sex expected to do whatever is needed in the household. Technology is very steampunk. Airships, steam engines, that sort of thing. Weapons of course include firearms, with most of them being single fire rifles and muskets. So yeah! If anyone's interested, or has an idea, please comment here!
