Fantasy A Clockwork Revolution CS

Rusty of Shackleford

Ten Thousand Club
Name:

Race: (Classic D&D races. Humans, dwarves, elves, half-elves, half-orcs, halflings, gnomes, etc. This will be important, as racism is frequent in the world, primarily towards half breeds and gnomes, who are often seen as greedy, evil tinkerers who benefit from hoarding their technology, despite the fact that they sell most of their tech to humans and dwarves.)

Age: (Dwarves can live to be around 300 years old, elves can be over 700, half-elves can be over 180 years old, halflings live a bit longer than humans, gnomes can be 400 years old, and finally, half-orcs rarely live passed 80)

Appearance:

Occupation: (What's their job?)

Affiliation: (Who are they affiliated with? The colonies? Byrne? Or are they independent?)

Personality:

Equipment: (Weapons and armor they may have. Firearms are all muskets and other muzzleloaders, though some use percussion caps instead of a flintlock mechanism.)

Background:

Name: Garrett Marcom Brightwall (Birth name is Elven, but he changed it years ago)

Race: Half-Elf

Age: 28 (Looks as if he's in his early twenties due to his elven ancestry)

Appearance:
179738bb708c8316bb45b1fb59699d92.jpg
Occupation: Doctor/Former Gunsmith

Affiliation: Colonies

Personality: Garrett is an extremely quiet, polite man, a true gentleman of his time. He walks with an upright posture, he remvoes his boots and hat when he enters a building, and he makes sure to wash his hands, which is also a result of him being, well, a doctor. He is a devout pacifist, though devout isn't the right word. He isn't a man of faith. He's a firm believer in science, in the physical world, and he doesn't see much worth in arguing over who created the universe and why. He believes in helping people as much as he can, while minimizing their suffering as much as he can.

Equipment:
Flintlock pistol, though he only carries it to scare away would be thugs.
Scalpel, but he wouldn't dare use it to hurt someone (yet...)

Background:
Born the son of an elven woman and a human father, Garrett spent his early childhood with his mother, his father having died fighting the orcs before the boy was born. He loved his mother, she was the world to him. And then she was taken away from him, a cold whisking her away in the night. The devestated orphan was taken in by a friend of his father, a gnomish blacksmith who lost his own son in the war. While Garrett learned his surrogate father's trade, he didn't have much interest in making guns, despite being a prodigy in his own right. He was fascinated by medicine, how it seemed more logical, and more readily available than the magic his mother was treated with. When he finally became a man, he went to university, where he met the legendary philosopher and orator Carric Liadon, who quickly took the young student under his wing. The two shared very similar world views and philosophies and world views, valuing logic and reason over blind faith and superstition. He also met Carric's daughter, Lia, and the two soon married after Garrett graduated. He was an outstanding student, being the valedictorian of his class. He then returned home to Fallcrest, moving into an office with Lia and opening his business, Brightwall Physician and Other Medicinal Serivices. He soon began to see the cracks of rebellion begin, especially in his own business. The ingredients he used for his medicine began to get more and more expensive, many of his patients were wounded on both sides of the conflict. He of course stayed out of it, as he had always been a pacifist, and never asked questions. He is, however, a supporter of freedom, albeit peaceful.

Name:
Alita Anderson

Maiden Name:
Harriot

Race:
Human

Age:
26
Cardia.png
Occupation:
Stay home mom and sometimes helps her husband out.

Affiliation:
She's on the side of the colonies.

Personality:
She is gentle and quiet, and has a somewhat bubbly manner and is always calm. Despite her quiet nature, her anger is something to be wary of. Though rare, she can have powerful releases of her rage, especially if someone talks bad about her daughter or husband, and if her husband pisses her off she might give smack on the back of the head (mostly comedic). If daughter disobeys or acts bad she will ground her and she's not against spankings.

Equipment:
Has a musket at home her husband gave her.

Background:
Alita was born into a very rich family of old money. Growing up she lived in a quite strict environment the only time she got a break from that was when she would visit her aunt. Her aunt lived in the middle class area even though she was quite wealthy. It was the reason why she was allowed to visit her. Whenever she would go to visit her she would always go to play with a boy she made friends with named Frederick though she called him Rickie. As they grew up that friendship she had turned into something more. But when she turned 16 her parents told her that had chosen a husband for her. Alita has two older siblings, a brother and sister who more willing to follow the traditions of marrying someone of their own class and having that marriage be more arranged but Alita wanted to be with Rickie who was boy part of the working class. When she told her parents she was in love with someone else and who was they weren't having it and said she had no choice in the matter. So her and Rickie spent one night together thinking this would be the last time they saw each other but after that one night she became pregnant. Her parents were furious they called her whore and disowned her. So went to stay with her aunt who happily let her stay with her. It's been ten years since then and her husband is mechanic and they are now married living in their own place with their little girl Joye. Though she isn't part of the high class anymore she still prides herself in being a proper lady and makes sure to raise her daughter same though of course not as strict as her parents. Whether husband knows it or she's quite happy with her life and wouldn't change a thing.
Name:
Joye Anderson

Age: 10

Personality:
Joye is a young girl who has a tomboyish and energetic nature and is a athletic girl. Although brash and spunky, she can be skittish and self-conscious. Joye is a caring individual with a big heart and a bright perspective. She is very friendly and kind towards others. She does poorly in school but with her hard-working spirit and hopeful nature, she continues to work hard to improve. A bit of a late thinker, she sometimes gets distracted or absent-minded; especially when food is involved. She is a big-eater and can usually be swayed by food, if not trying to steal it from others. She is also childish, loud, and sometimes clumsy.

Name: Frederick Anderson

Race: Human

Age: 26

Appearance:
9cb9b64d7afff5beb878d85acfbeb281.jpg
Occupation: Artificer (A mechanic who specializes in mixing technology with magic)

Affiliation: Colonies, Harp Society

Personality: The sterotypical colonist, Frederick is a bold, brash, self-made man. He works hard, and prefers action to words. He values freedom and fairness above all else, and has always had a disdain for authority figures. He is, however, a dedicated family man, with every action he does for the benefit of his wife and daughter. To him, freedom doesn't mean anything if he doesn't have them.

Equipment: Artificer Hammer (Enchanted to be incredibly durable, could easily crack someone's skull)
Old rusty flintlock pistol

Background:
Born in the Ash Slums in Fallcrest, Frederick grew up working in the factories near his home, nearly choking on ash and smoke every day. He never really had much of a chance to better his standing, at least that he could see. That was until he was revealed to have magical potential. Specifically, he was talented in imbuing magic. The ability to enchant weapons was an incredibly rare and useful ability, and Frederick was quite gifted in the art. He became an apprentice soon afterwards, meeting a pretty girl named Alita. He became renowed as an extremely skilled Artificer, working on several airships and factories in his years. He eventually fell in love with Alita, the two soon having a child, with Alita being disowned and left on the streets. Frederick worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and unborn child, with them just barely making ends meet. They didn't even have enough money for a doctor to deliver their child. It was then that Frederick first met Garrett Brightwall. The young doctor had just opened up his business, and delivered the child free of charge. Despite their differences in both background and personality, Frederick and Garrett became close friends, with the former's luck finally turning after he opened up his own shop, and he became a respected member of the community.

But not all things last. When the taxes began, Frederick was one of the first to be hit by it. Everything he did, made, and sold had to be taxed, and he hated it. Fallcrest had no seat in the Grand Council, and they had ruled themselves for years. Why should they be taxed over a war they didn't start? As the taxes grew with the resistance, Garrett and several other like-minded individuals formed the Harp Society, a group of merchants, craftsmen, and other such people in an effort to end the taxes. At this point, Frederick is barely holding on, the taxes becoming crippling to his business. He needs this more than anyone, and he's more than willing to kill for it.

Name: Caelynn "Lia" Brightwall

Maiden Name: Liadon

Race: Elf

Age: 127 (Of course looks as if she's in her twenties)

Appearance:
987971c4fa4b5dde3681bace5ee00c72.jpg
Occupation: Nurse/Doctor

Affiliation: (Who are they affiliated with?) Colonies

Personality: Being an elf, and an adult one at that, Caelynn of course has a timeless, almost aloof view of the world. Though she has cast off this attitude gradually over the years. As a younger elf, she has a natural curiosity and free spirit that few other races share. She's incredibly intelligent, calculated, and independent, a perfect fit for her husband. She truly and deeply cares for Garrett, as he is the only man she has ever loved, and most likely ever will love.

Equipment: Small dagger for self defense

Background:
The only daughter of the renowned thinker and philosopher Carric Liadon, Caelynn was always right beside her father. She was a spitting image of him, in both looks and personality. Curious, intelligent, and empathetic to others, though this was tempered by her natural elven aloofness. Since elves aren't expected to settle down until much later in life, Caelynn dedicated herself to medicine, and the study of the natural world. She travelled to dozens of universities, compiling several books of her journies. It was at a party with her father that she met Garrett Brightwall, and the two instantly fell in love. She taught the young student medicine, and to this day acts as a trusted advisor of the doctor. The two settled down in Fallcrest, with Caelynn being the midwife for Alita for the birth of her child. She isn't much of a housewife, but she has the occasional tea time with the woman, though she prefers spending her time with Garrett and her father. As a student of Carric, she was of course opposed to the taxation of the colonies. She is one of the few people who know of the Harp Society, without actually being in it, one of the other's being her husband.

Name: Edmonde Wylde

Race: Elf

Age: 237

Appearance:

Occupation: Merc for Hire

Affiliation: Byrne

Personality: A mercenary and veteran Edmonde's free-spirited Elven nature has been slowly overridden with paranoia. He rarely removes his mask, having developed germaphobia, and tries to suppress his good-natured heart due to the right side often not having a good enough paycheck. He lacks the savage nature instilled in many mercenaries, rather he operates in a very cold way. He doesn't enjoy the work, he's just good at it. Should one get close to him, you'll find a soft natured man who yearns to put his weapons down and learn to heal instead of hurt. A man with a fondness for animals, children, poetry, and romance. These two natures are constantly causing him to feel disastrously conflicted.

Equipment: Though he carries three flintlock pistols and a large dagger, they are simply complementary to the myriad of poisons he has, which he either coats his knife with, or he simply soaks musket balls in. He fights through indirect confrontation and as such the only "armour" he has, is the mask he wears, which he originally began wearing to filter out the toxic fumes that the poisons he uses can often give off.

Background: Edmonde Wylde had a mostly poor childhood alongside his sister; their parents were debt-ridden, and thus forced their two children to enter the workforce at an extremely young age. Edmonde tried to study medicine but found that concoctions made to harm sold for far more than household remedies. A few years of making poisons he then wound up finding work that required him to use them. This quickly evolved into being a mercenary, in a vain attempt to wash the blood of the criminal world off his hands, instead, he was getting blood over his hands legally. after a few wars, and the awful feeling of misleading his sister towards this very same path. His way of fighting became more and more based on cold efficiency, as his own mind was slowly warped. He lives each day trying to painstakingly make sure it won't be his last, yet wishing for an end that leads to leaving this work, whether it be from a stroke of good fortune... or a stray bullet.

Name
Arabella Wylde

Race
Elf

Age
232

Appearance

Occupation
Mercenary

Affiliation
Byrne

Personality
Arabella is generally quite jovial to her compatriots and those she's fighting alongside, however after decades of fighting for every different side imaginable and her only cause being how much gold she can fill her pockets with, she had started to mistrust those around her as those who could potentially backstab her. Generally, she's professional and courteous to others, but cautious. She can come across as cold and distrustful, but if one manages to gain her trust then she can open up. She has no real cause to fight for, leading to a rather weak morality and mental state. This may eventually lead her to pick a side and finally fight for a cause.

Equipment
Bow and arrows, longsword, flintlock pistol, small dirk, chain and leather armour.

Background
Born to indebted parents with a brother who was working to pay off their debts, her fate was more or less determined. Mercenary work was gruelling and incredibly dangerous, but it paid well. She trained to become an excellent fighter and strategist out of necessity, knowing if she failed that she would be dead and her family would be significantly worse off. Through the first few conflicts she had participated in, she kept her good-natured demeanour and seemed more or less unaffected by the war. However, by the time she had betrayed those she had previously fought for over a larger amount of money, her mind started slipping. Paranoia set in as she realized that she had killed those she had fought to protect only years earlier. It had started to slowly eat away at her mind, but her combat skills only improved as she fought for many different sides over the years, facing many different tactics. Her current contract is with Byrne. Given their insistence to keep their colonies, the money had been enough to convince her to fight for them. Luckily for her, her brother was also contracted to deal with the rebellion; she was quite glad to have someone she could finally trust at her back.
