A chance meeting[Closed]

That... made a little bit more sense. Nerandros had had the chance that most people did not when it came to experiencing other cultures, so sometimes he forgot that not everybody had such wide knowledge.

"Well, you just met me and I'm from the College. If I'm not enough to convince you, you can come see all of my very real mages in Winterhold. You can just be a guest if you would prefer."

Silently, Seras weighed his decision in his head. On one hand, he could countinue to travel alone and on the other, take a chance with someone he just met. However, he knew if we went to Winterhold he would be far from his Mother reaches. The thought was nice, but it still terrified him to go into a new region of Skyrim.

He nodded to himself and looked at Nerandros. "Mind telling me more about it? The college I mean." The Dunmer grinned. "Just to know what I'm getting myself into."

He watched the elf think, hoping he would agree. He wanted to help expand the Dunmer's view, teach him. And he wanted to show Seras what the College had to offer. He was in charge of it after all, so he took pride in what it taught. At his question, Nerandros smiled. It was certainly a step in the right direction.

"Oh, certainly! It is a guild where, if you join, you will have access to some of the best magic instructors in all of Skyrim. They are incredibly helpful and very kind. For the most part, anyway. And, we also have an immense library on all manner of subjects. There are dorms to stay in for the apprentices and the instructors which are magically heated. And, I find the food very exceptional too." He chuckled at the last statement. "But, since you will be my guest, you will have access to all of these and more. All you have to do is ask."

The Dunmer nodded as the Argonian spoke, it was interesting to hear him talk about it and Setas knew it would be something special. The only things he would truly have to worry about was getting food for himself. Oh well, he would figure out something later.

"It sounds very interesting, to say the least that is." Seras said. "I'll tell you what." The Dunmer began. "I'll join you, I might be nice to try something new and you seem like a nice guy." He said to the Argonian, the ends of his lips forming a smile.

Even when he had been an apprentice, he had absolutely loved the College. It had been a source of fascination for him the moment he heard about it. And when he became the archmage, while terrifying, only made him take even more pride in the school. His family had been so proud when he wrote to them.

He broke into a grin. "That's fantastic! I am certain you'll love it!"

"I can truly say that you won't regret allowing me to come with you." Seras agreed. "I promise." He quickly added.

Although he was happy to have found a new place to go, far from his mother's grasp, Seras still had hidden doubts about going off with Nerandros. Of course, he wouldn't dare say them out loud, but he knew in his heart that he should be careful. Then again, it could be his nerves acting up.

"Now if you don't mind, Nerandros, I think I should retire for the evening." Seras said. "I'm starting to get tired, and you don't want to see me when I haven't got much sleep." He chuckled to himself.

"I have no doubt about that, Seras," he said, happy simply because he had convinced the other mage to give the College a shot.

He nodded when the other requested that they rest. It was getting rather late and they would needed to get to Winterhold before nightfall tomorrow. Otherwise they would be stuck in the freezing cold in the middle of the night. As an Argonian, and an albino one at that, the cold was not good for his health.

"Good idea. We have a long walk ahead of us. Good night, Seras."

Seras curled himself into a ball on the ground, the long ragged sleeves of his ruined robes, being used as a mackeshift pillow. Peaking his head up, he look to Nerandros and grinned.

"Good night, Nerandros. May your dreams be filled to the brim with joy." He laid his head back down. Grinning to himself, Seras shut his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Tomorrow would be anticipated heavily and he couldn't wait to see how his new life at the college would be.

Nerandros had made a small lean-to to protect himself from the elements, and a sleeping roll. It could have fit two, but that would require them to be very close. He wasn't sure how comfortable his new friend would be with that, and so did not offer.

He made a quick hum of amusment. "May yours be as well, serah," he said, before settling down to sleep as well.

The next morning, the Argonian woke just after dawn broke. He yawned and stretched - as much as he could in his little tent - and crawled out. He ran his fingers through his feathers and looked over at Seras to see if he was up.

Seras had slept well, although he got cold, he still slept well. From any passer-byers he probably looked like a pile of rags. When he awoke, he stretched out his long gangly limbs and attempted to crack his back with his arms.

After he was comfortable, he scooted towards the fire pit of and lite it up again. Keeping the flames going he sat by them to get warm in the dim light of morning. To keep busy he messed with his ring, sliding it and on and off his finger, and awaited for Nerandros to awake.

Although his stomach growled, he knew it was best not to eat now, not until he knew he wouldn't be seen by his new friend. If he had to, he would eat something that wasn't his usual meal.

He saw the Dunmer start the fire again and smiled in greeting as he approached.

"Good morning, Seras," he said, sidling next to the fire. He opened his pack and began rifling through it for breakfast. "I have some dried meat and fruit, if you're hungry."

He notice the ring the mer was twirling around his finger. "That's an interesting ring," he said.

Turning his head to hear the source of the voice, he smiled as his traveling partner sat next to him.

Seras nodded. "And Agood morning to you, my friend." He smiled and turned his attention back to the flames. "Food sounds nice, if you don't mind sharing."

His fist clenched as he let the ring slide back into his finger. "It's a family heirloom." Seras said quickly. "It belonged to an old relative, or so I heard anyways."

He removed a few strips of meat and an apple from his pack and handed them over to Seras. Then he served himself his own portion and began eating.

"Well, it is quite lovely. The detailing in particular." He chewed thoughtfully for a moment. "You know, it may sound odd, but I think I may have seen something similar somewhere before. A book, maybe, since I'm always reading those."

Taking the bits of food, Seras nodded and threw a piece of meat into his mouth. As he chewed he gave a thumbs up to Nerandros as thanks and quickly swallowed the piece of food.

Seras shrugged. "The ring is pretty old, who knows what it's seen." He shoved some more food into his mouth. "I wouldn't doubt if you've seen it before, it's a common design for rings made in its original time."

"Ah well, that makes sense then," he replied, taking another bite of meat.

He was much less messy as he ate. Rather than shove large bites in when he was finished with one, he took small ones and throughly chewed them. His parents had enforced manners in him so that when he traveled he would not only make a good impression on those he met in his travels, but also so that he would prevent others from thinking even lesser of Arhonians.

The Dunmer continued to eat until all of his food was gone. His mother never really taught him too much about manners. Back home, it was take what you could while it was there before anyone else did. He learned quickly, to say the least.

Seras stood, brushing off his ragged clothes, and stretching his body out one last time. "How did you sleep?" He asked, the sounds of his back cracking as he shifted around.

He almost winced when he heard Seras' back. He was used to the sound of shifting bones, but not quite in that way. It was during his transformation when he heard them, as his bones moved and grew to turn him into his werebeast form. It was not a pleasant sound to say the least.

"Very well, actually. I am very used to traveling and sleeping along the road. I wasn't always at the College. How about you, how did you sleep?"

"I slept great actually." He walked back to Nerandros and took his seat by the fire. "It was nice not having my mother shout like an old crow trying to get me up." Seras could recall many accounts that his mother would get him up for strange reasons. From social calls to lessons in magic and combat, he was used to it all.

Seras glanced at Nerandros. "You know, if you don't mind my asking, since you said you traveled a lot." He began. "What did you do? Where you a merchant or something?"

He laughed. "I know the feeling quite well. My fathers were both very nagging, though they claimed not to be. But it was all with good intentions so I can't blame them too much."

He took another bite of his meal and swallow before he answer the question. "I used to simply travel for travels' sake. Learn new things about places I've never been, you know? But now that I have a home at the College, I mostly go around and do research. I'm also hoping to find an old friend of mine. I haven't seen her in many years and heard she was in Skyrim. Now that I have more means, I can try and search for her more often."

He had not heard much about his Khajiit friend since arriving almost two years ago, which worried him. Perhaps she had left the providence already. Maybe she was in hiding. She always ended up finding trouble, so that couldn't be ruled out. There was another possibility that Nerandros did not want to think about. He couldn't. He would keep looking until he knew.

Seras thought it was nice to know that Nerandros had some type of family. Granted he would never guessed he would have been raised by two men, but over all it was nice. "You had two fathers? And they just let you travel? That must have been great! My mother would never let me do anything like that." Seras tilted his head. "Where have you been?"

He thought about what Nerandros had said about his friend, he knew it would be terrible to be lost in a place like Skyrim, especially just if she were to be in trouble. Seras couldn't imagine what Nerandros could be going through, having a missing friend would have to be hard.

"I'm sorry about your friend." He frowned. "I can't imagine what it must feel like to not know where your friends are." He added. "If you want, I don't mind helping you look for them sometime." Seras said, a grin on his face.

He had been used to surprise and even outright disapproval at the mention of his paternal situation. At least Seras didnt't scorn him for it. That would make being friends impossible, especially since the Argonian was also gay. "It was my godmother's idea, since I always talked about how interesting other places seemed to be. I've neem to Elsweyr, Valenwood, Hammerfell, and High Rock, in addition to here and back home in Black Marsh."

He smiled sadly. "Thank you. I hope that I can find her soon. And thank you, if I ever need the assistance, then I will know that I can come to you."

Seras was in awe as Nerandros spoke, he couldn't imagine what it would be like to travel to such amazing places. "Wow! Your fathers must be so proud, and it must have been amazing to go to travel to such exotic places. I've never even been out of Skyrim."

"Anytime you need help just say the word, I will gladly help you out." Seras smiled, the two had only just met but he could see the two becoming great friends. He loved to imagine them become closer and hoped it would happen.

"Do you want me to help you clean up your things before we go on the road? I'm not trying to rush you, but whenever you're ready let me know and I can help you."

He scratched the back of his head. "I guess it could be considered impressive. But a lot of people have coming-of-age traditions that involve traveling, so I'm certainly not the first."

He nodded in acknowledgment. "And for that I thank you, serah." The Dunmer wasn't the only one who hoped to become good friends with the other man. Nerandros liked meeting new people, and he was very glad to have met Seras.

"Oh no, it won't take me very long. I've done this so many times its like second nature to me."

"But still, it does sound every cool." As much as Seras wanted to ask more, he felt it was better to just wait and ask later. He didn't want to over step his boundaries and knew it was next to wait.

He nodded. "And you are welcome." Seras stood and brushed off his clothes, he knew that Nerandros may need more time to sit so he figured he would just stand.

"Ok, I just figured I ask. You take your time then. I'm in no rush, and I trust your judgement."

"Thank you," he said, and began packing up the camp.

In no time at all, he had put away the tent, put out the fire, and practically wiped away any evidence they had ever even been there. After double checking the area, he walked over to Seras, shrugging his pack onto his shoulders.

"Ready when you are, sera."
