Fandom A Chance Meeting at Ilex Forest

"Sure." Said Danielle, though she eyed the collar, having bad experiances with them in the past. "If you don't mind me asking, I find it rather odd, if we're going to be acquaintances, to not know your name."

"My name is Danielle, and my friend is named Liese." She responded, cautiously gaining hope in this Shelby.

"It's nice to meet you both. So I forgot to mention something earlier -- when I asked you to trade yourselves, I should have mentioned the LAB isn't the one keeping you. I am. So you're not really lab rats, in case you were worried about that."

She leads the way inside and everyone makes way for her.

"This way."

Danielle simply nodded, still somewhat shaken by the goodbyes she follows the human, glad that technically it was the scientist not the lab that had them. Though.. that does bring up some dangerous possibilities as well.

She leads them both into a room and then plugs a cable into Liese, who powers down immediately.

"Talk to me, Danielle. You seem to be in pain, and I'd like to talk before we go further."

"It's nothing," Danielle said defensively, not wanting to talk to the practical stranger about her personal life.

"Hm..." Shelby nods and flicks a switch. Suddenly Danielle has to be truthful. She can't hide anything.

"Come on. What's wrong?"

"I.." She tried to fight it but lost. "I had to say goodbye to my father and my best friend... I haven't been without both of them before" She said, strangely feeling better for it, though not neccesarily enjoying being partially controlled.

As soon as Shelby hears this she pauses.

"I should let you go home, then. I'm so sorry, Danielle. I didn't know. Here..." she immediately removes the collar. "You can go home."

She was stunned by this... she hadn't expected her to be so willing. She wanted to bolt and leave.. but It didn't feel right for some reason. "I.. I really appreciate the offer, it's more than I could've asked for, but I choose to stay, we made a deal, and I cant go back on my word... [;us I wouldn't want to leave my friend here by herself." Danielle said. "Though I would request one thing.. that we would be able to communicate with them."

"But, Danielle...we made a deal I didn't fully understand. I didn't realize you were leaving loved ones behind. Of course you can communicate with them, but...I'd rather you be able to be with them! You're not going back on your word -- I'm telling you I think our terms met and that you're allowed to go."

Danielle pondered this, and wanted so very badly to leave. "What about my friend?" She said indicating Liese.

"If I understand anythins about human culture.. then those machine weren't cheap... I would feel rather poorly about making you lose your money."

"They weren't cheap, but we can make more. As for Liese...I do have to hold onto her...I can't release that one yet...for a whole lot of complicated reasons."

She nods.

"You needn't feel bad."

Danielle simply nodded. "Again, I cannot leave my friend here alone, provided she keeps her consciousness, I wish to stay with her." Danielle said, now smiling, the human seems more agreeable than expected. "I really can't thank you enough for the offer, it tells me we'll be in good hands, but I can't leave her."

Shelby shakes her head. "Danielle, your loyalty is wonderful, but...I can't...let you both go. I have to keep the robot Lucario. Please...don't make this harder than it has to be. You should be with your family."

Danielle was quite determined here. She couldn't leave Liese by herself. "Heh, here we are arguing over the opposite of what must people in this situation would.. how about this, my conscience and sense of duty won't let me leave her, but yours went let me stay, how about I go back home one a week? That seems fair, and a much better fall than I had expected going into this." Danielle offered, one again reflecting on how weird the negotiation was.

Shelby nods.

"Alright...fair deal. But we'll make it twice a week, okay? And BOTH of you can go -- on condition that she brings back one of her brothers every time, alright?"

Danielle smiled, happy that the human was so agreeable. "I would like to discuss it with my friend, but it sounds like mute than I could've asked for." She said appreciatively.

"Very well. In that case, I'm going to put your collar back on, alright?"

She does so, then goes over to Liese and unplugs the cable, causing the bot to boot up in seconds.

Danielle nods, accepting the collar. "Liese, your awake the doctor had a deal for us." She said, relaying the info.

Liese listens, surprised, then skeptical. "If she's letting you go free, why do you have a collar on your neck? How do I know this isn't a trap? She shut me off, remember?"
