So. In every pokemon game I've played where I was able- I'd always work my hardest towards getting a guardivor (can never spell the name right)... I love that pokemon to deaths. Could I use it, even if it's my only one?
Gardevoir is in Hoenn region so if the rp is on Hoenn it's possible

I feel like the RP would be a lot smoother and easier to manage if everyone just had one pokemon, but that's just my opinion xp

That depends on your point of view. The games were about being the best, while the show was about friendship xp

Well.....I would argue it's more about Ash's journey to becoming a pokemon master XD though he'll never grow up to freaking reach that anyway! So....lol I don't know but! The whole point of Pokémon in general is to catch and train pokemon. Obliviously not everyone in the rp is going to have the same goal but to limit everyone to one pokemon just wouldn't really make sense.

Was just a personal opinion, just thought having one pokemon would just make the RP easier to manage xp

Weli answers questions
Been a busy day at work, so I can only answer a few questions right now based on the current survey results and some remarks in this thread
  • The RP is on course to take place in Kanto.
  • Characters do not have to be from Kanto.
  • Pokemon will be available from all generations, within reason - wild Pokemon are restricted to what regions they appear in across the video games.
  • We're gonna have Fairy-type Pokemon (so Pokemon typing will be based on the Sun/Moon generation since I think that's the newest one).
  • Most of you want to omit the newer mechanics of z-moves and mega evolution, and I respect that. A casual RP needs simplicity.
  • I'm gonna make a new evil team, but it looks like we can expect some Rocket stragglers in the cast.
  • Only canon Pokemon for now.
  • Most of you like shapely women and firearms, and I would be a poor GM to take those delights away from you.
  • However, you're now going to have to put up with human characters potentially getting harmed by Pokemon in conflict.
  • Or harmed by bullets idk why you guys think Kanto has the second amendment but whatevs
  • There's no combat system on the table right now.
  • At this time, please make sure the sum of your character's party Pokemon levels does not exceed 60 (that's up to six lvl 10 Pokemon, or one lvl 60 Pokemon, and anything in-between)
  • No legendary Pokemon in your party
  • Four moves per Pokemon, please consult the current gen on Bulbapedia for info on movesets and leveling.
  • I still don't have a solid plot but I promise I will set at least one building on fire for you all.

Mythical pokemon are like Victini, Jirachi, Celebi, Mew, and Phione/Manaphy

Yay for shapely women!

Also! Boss! I would suggest to take away the idea of levels, since that would be very hard to quantify. And with levels comes stats. And pokemon games have a a pretty big state mechanics. Best to keep it simple.

As well, the 4 moves is a game mechanic, that can probably best be ignored. While maybe can instead reason it as the top four moves the pokemon has mastered, but other moves are possible.

A good move would be to keep things as vaguely equal as possible. This would help curb hypercompetition and minmaxing, and would give some wiggle room for equal fights. As well would be able to explain able way things such as a "higher level" unevolved pokemon going against a "lower level" evolved one. Making it hard to judge who is stronger based on what a char has a decided, and making the battle mechanic a cross between common sense and the involved parties discussing it out.

I don't think there would need to be a combat system. Rp is already turn based, so that works in favor of traditional pokemon battles. However! I say that combat should lean more towards making it a spectacle, so instead of focusing on battle mechanics, the two parties should instead make it look fun.

And in my opinion, I hope for a lot of draws and close wins.

If there's space for me, I'd like to toss in my interest :3 if there isn't space... well...

I already voted, so uhm. No take backs.

I'd like to have 3 different pokemon from various regions. I can explain them all with a backstory once things get formed up.
Gallade lvl 31
-psychic
-heal pulse
-hyperspace hole
-counter

Gloom lvl 20
-stun spore
-grass whistle(or sleep powder/spore)
-poison powder
-leaf blade

Emolga lvl 9
-spark
-fly(?)
-bounce
-thunder

If I need to choose different or change stuff I'd be more than happy to adjust :)

I already know mine!

Bonnie the tsundere Buneary
Winnie the lovey dovey Muk
Thumper the awkward Onix
Mr. Crowley the creepy and ambitious Joltik
Homer the lazy Scrafty

And a tie between either Louie the flashy Jolteon or Monty the arguably mentally handicapped mudkip.

Lol, not quite a smogon elite team, but I think it's more fun this way. All with their own unique personalities, and challenges to train! Like how obviously got to be careful around a blob of toxic sludge, and a giant rock snake can do a lot of unintended collateral damage. And even trying to fight with the popcorn sized joltik.

I vote Monty xD

Oooh! Oooh! I wonder if Weli will let us have fossil pokemon! If so, I call dibs on Tyrantrum!
