Fandom A casual Pokémon roleplay

Hey! I'm kinda itchin' for a Pokemon roleplay, but I don't want to deal with all the rigmarole of creating a new region and new gym leaders. In fact, rather than following a group of trainers across a region, I think I'd like a roleplay where we mostly focus on a single city and the surrounding area. I'm thinking..... Kanto, Johto, or Hoenn; after the dissolution of their respective evil teams. Mostly because I haven't really played much of the games past Gen 3, like, I'm only just now learning about mega evolutions and shit... and also because I'm not a fan of playing canon characters and I'd much rather see original player characters as gym leaders, hooligans, professors, etc.

I have a couple small plots in mind to start off with:

• Some sort of convention or other event to give players a reason to be in the same city
• A stolen Pokemon (because what else is an evil team gonna do, you know?)
• Maybe we end up going on an adventure across the land after all, to find some sort of ancient Pokemon artifact of doom

Thoughts?

Everyone except Lemon is allowed to have a fairy type Pokemon.

.... Unless you want to actually play as a Pokemon? Because I feel like that would limit your dialogue options, but also, I don't really care enough to stop you.

One idea might be like the town has a pokemon club!

Others ideas might be to not limit peoples starter pokemon to the classic starters.

And are you wanting char to be in the more amateur demographic of traniers?

And I'd assume that you would be happy to have occupations other than just trainers too.

I might limit the starter Pokemon to the starters of that region, BUT, only if they're a brand new trainer who specifically goes to the professor for their starter. I'm NOT going to limit what kind of trainers players can be - for all I know, we might all end up being adult ace trainers or something.

I'd imagine so! Given that a first year pokemon could probably leave a few booboos on trainers.

Though I may suggest reconsidering the lack of trainer limitations, or thinking over it later. It's fairly easy for hyper capable teams to come in a pokemon rp, and minmaxers will have a field day. And it would encourage many people to just pick the strongest species of pokemon, leading to potential disappointingredients levels of repeating of commonly chosen pokemon.

But this is just my skepticism talking ::p

So. In every pokemon game I've played where I was able- I'd always work my hardest towards getting a guardivor (can never spell the name right)... I love that pokemon to deaths. Could I use it, even if it's my only one?
