Realistic or Modern A Broken Child's Imagination

Cipah

Back from the Dead?
The sunlight lit up the sky beautifully and not a cloud plagues the azure heavens above. School had just ended, the summer holidays had begun. Kids were already playing in the fields and the streets of the small, quiet town of Ashley, Kansas.

There is a particular group of friends, however, who will be the focus of our little story. They all prepared for a day of fun with one another in their homes, dressing themselves in the perfect clothe while thinking of the dense woodland on the outskirts of Ashley that would serve as their playground.

Remy squealed as he was tickled awake from his dream of candy canes and donuts. Wriggling helplessly under his merciless grandmas hold he clamped his lips shut trying to contain his giggles adorable he wouldn't say what he knew she wanted him to. She leaned over a large smile on her face and long white hair stained with colorful feather. "Say it my lil Rem. You won't get up until you do. "

Covering his mouth he shook his head as he continued trying to wiggle away from his grandma. He thought old people were supposed to get tired easily. "Oh, come now," She bargained. "If you do I'll make you your favorite pancakes. "

Remys eyes widened at the thought of chocolate chip and strawberry pancakes. Without further protest he uncovered his mouth and squealed with laughter. "OK. OK. Uncle! Uncle!"

"There it is." Granny grinned stopping her torture and standing straight. For a moment they just stayed were they were catching their breaths and letting their hearts calm down. Then without hesitating Remy was off out of his room and down the brightly colored halls. He skidded until the room and ignored his almost trip as he took a seat at the brown wooden table that had paint prints all over it. There he began munching on the pancakes waiting for him.

Laughing at her grandsons antics Granny followed and taking her own seat began to eat as well. These weren't only Remys favorites after all. A relaxed silence fell over them and was only broken when Remy finished eating. "May I be excused? I have to get weady to play with my fwiends."

Resisting the urge to laugh at her grandsons lisp she nodded and watched him dart off to his room. Shaking her head she finished eating before beginning to clean up. That boy is full of to much energy.

In his room Remy went to the bathroom were he took a shower. Only recently has granny let him take showers or baths without her supervision and he was Taking full advantage of it. After brushing his curly hair and teeth he changed in the outfit he picked out yesterday.

It consisted of black Capris, his white paint splattered shirt, and a black jacket with blue on the trim. His favorite parts though was his blue Naruto shoes, black fingerless gloves, and leaf nin headband. Granny got him these when she first got him hooked on the show naruto and frankly it was perfect for this outfit.

He wondered if his friends would think so. He hasn't shown them to anyone yet. Biting his lip he grabbed his toy kunais and book bag (full of snacks, juice, and some bandages) then headed toward the living room. He hoped his friends liked them but even if they didn't he would still wear them. Because he liked them.

Attaching the sheathes to his pockets he slipped his kunai in them as he wandered into the room. His granny laughed when she spotted her little ninja. "All ready to go I see."

"Yep," He nodded proudly. "And I'm going to kill a whole bunch of enemy nin. I might even have a bwidge named aftew me."

"Really?" Remy nodded matter of factly and she resisted the urge to laugh again. "Well then my little ninja go off to play. I trust you can make the voyoge alone and make it home before nightfall?"

"Yes Gwanny." Remy squealed darting to the door get froze halfway there and turned around to give his waiting Granny a hug. "Love You Gwanny. "

"I love you to sweetheart." Granny chuckled and without further ado he was out the door and off to play. They didn't live very far from the meeting place and it was a safe place so granny wasn't worried.

Ashlynn woke up to the smell of eggs and toast. Blinking away the sleep from her eyes she sat up. As she did, she noticed her neatly folded clothes her mother had picked out for her. Crawling to the end of her bed, fighting her way through the jungle of blankets, she looked at the clothing. A simple dress, it was short and the color was faded. "No, I refuse!" she said. Being the tomboy she was, she never liked dresses.

After getting out of bed, more like falling out, she then walked over to little cubes, cubbies in a way, and looked for her favorite shirt. "Where did it goes?" she asked herself as she looked. Once she found it, she then went to find some shorts and a pair of lilac socks. She then managed to get dressed, the shirt being her worst enemy.

"Let me go you evil shirtz!" she yelled. Hearing the door open, she stopped her fighting and faced where her door was, her head and arms hidden somewhere in her shirt. "I see you tried to dress yourself." said her mother as she heard foot steps approach her. Feeling her arm come free, her head popped out from the head hole of the shirt.

Finally dressed, Ashlynn followed her mom out of her bedroom and to the kitchen. Jumping down each step, she made her way down the stairs. "Be carfeul Ahslynn!" her mother called as Ashlynn continued till her reached the final step. Running past her father in the living room, she ran to her chair at the table and sat down. So far her day is going well, now she just has to finish breakfast, brush her teeth and hair, and go see her friends. "I can't wait!" she said out loud as she thought about the rest of the day.

Lucie peered around the corner of her livingroom looking for any adults that might put a stop to her plans, her mother would probably say no and her father would ask too many questions, it was better this way. When the coast was clear she hummed a little sigh of relief and made her way to the front door, she had to stand on her toes a little in order to get a proper grip on the child's safety lock her parents had put on the door to prevent this sort of thing but in a few minutes she was outside in the sunshine.

Her bag filled with crackers and a few juice packages weighed her down but to her it was a nice burden, the shiny blue bag with bows and ribbons of different sizes dragged on the ground slightly behind her as she made her way to meet her friends in her favorite wizard outfit. She had everything from a bathrobe adorned with stars to a stick she thought made a nice wand and even sparkly black shoes that basically screamed magical. Her black polo and Jean shorts weren't exactly wizardish or even all that stylish but they weren't what she thought was important. The bag hit a rock in the pavement and she worried she'd ripped it, that would be difficult to explain, despite all her imagination Lucie was a dreadful liar.

Eliza sat simply as her mother fixed up her hair so she could go out and play with her friends. They were worried about her getting into trouble, or wandering into the woods. But, they were glad she seemed to be socializing more, and they didn't want to do anything to mess up her blossoming friendships. So they allowed her to go play. Things would be fine, they told themselves. She's a smart girl, and she knows when something is too dangerous. Eliza knew about her parents' worries, but she decided to ignore them until they became a problem. The only real reason she was even going today was to ease her parents' minds and hopefully get them to relax. She wasn't really looking forward to the play date with everyone else. Though, they were some of the few other children that understood her strange and vast fantasy worlds, and they seemed to be the only ones that could dream as well as she could. Still, in case things got too boring for her tastes, she decided to bring a book she had been reading. She packed into her bag, along with a hair elastic, in case she somehow lost hers-which seemed to happen a lot for some reason-, a bottle of water, and an apple. She shouldered her bag, hugged her parents goodbye, then walked out the door towards the meeting place they had all agreed on. She walked calmly, her footsteps barely making noise on the pavement. She fantasized and imagined many different things and creations as she walked, smiling lightly as they came to life around her.

Mabel sat down on the stairs, frowning at her pink shirt. She hated it, why couldn't she wear nice shirts like her brothers did? She never fancied the feminine clothing she had and often took her brothers jackets to wear over the shirts she so despised. Getting up and to tell her mother she'd be going to the woods again with her friends Mabel caught a glimpse of her small figure in the mirror. She stopped, pulling the zipper from the scarlet jacket higher so the frilly top of her shirt wouldn't show, looking at herself feeling strange like the girl in the mirror wasn't her. Oh how much she wished to tell her friends how she felt about herself but Mabel feared that they'd ridicule her for feeling out of place and stomached her thoughts before going out the door.

The feeling of walking towards the woods was always wonderful, and it was something she loved. Mabel got the feeling like she should take her mind off her worries and put them on what she wanted to do with her friends. She shoved her little hands into her pockets making sure the bag of animal crackers were tucked away safely, making sure to not come empty handed to the meet up, she intended on sharing the crackers with her friends.

Vincent bobbed his hand up and down in front of his face, the spider that was hanging from it on a small strand of web bobbing with his hand.

The call of his mother is what roused him from this study.

"Honey! Today is the day you said you'd go and play with your friends, right? You'd better get going! You'll be late if you don't hurry!"

Vincent placed the spider of the flor and disconnected the web, nodding o himself.

"Oh yeah… I forgot about that…"

He stood up, looking in the direction of the forest. He then began to run, his feet padding into the concrete as he quickly made his way to where he and his friends would congregate.

Cars zoomed by where Lucie knelt over her bag looking worried, not one noticed. She prodded her bag with her tiny hands trying to put it back together somehow, it was barely a scuff but to her it might as well be a giant tear waiting to swallow her up. She layed on the ground for a minute to look at the sky, she watched a squirrel scurry across a power line and tried to think of a way to fix her dilemma. She was about to forget about it and just keep walking when one of said friends came upthe side walk and stood over her.

"...hey"

"Why are you on the ground?" Eliza asked curiously. She looked around and up to see what could possibly be so intriguing. She couldn't see anything good enough to lay on the ground for so she returned her gaze back onto Lucis and raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer to her question. Birds were chirping happily from inside their nests and a light breeze blew. Eliza zipped up her jacket, glad that she had decided to bring it.

Ashlynn finished her breakfast and had brushed her teeth. Having her mom brush her hair out she held a stuffed animal, a puppy to be exact. When her mom finished, she put Ashlynn's backpack by the door. Running up to her room to get the small bag of cookies she was bringing, she noticed the weather seemed to change the slightest. It was stilly sunny, but clouds seemed to be rolling in, rain clouds. Shrugging, Ashlynm grabbed the bag of cookies, and ran back down stairs. "Stay away from the boys!" called her mother as she opened the front door. "I will!" lied Ashlynn as she put her backpack on and left, heading to the groups meeting area.
