There were so many cars parked on the streets for the party, and it made Nicholas wonder how early the guests started to show up as many more were still to come. As he and Susie passed the other attendees, it made him wonder if he should stay a little later the next day to help with cleanup. With so many people there, it was going to get very messy, and help would certainly be appreciated by Pamela. Plus, it just seemed like the right thing to do. He'd discuss it with Susie later if they decided to stay over.

As they entered the house, Nicholas looked around to see if he saw any of his friends had arrived yet, but none of them had yet, which shocked him because normally they showed up pretty early. Maybe they went out for dinner. He thought to himself as he listened to Susie tell him that she would probably say 'Hello' to Sofie once she and Danny were done dancing. He didn't really know Danny very well, so he'd likely just talk to Sofie.

"That's fine. I'm going to go look for Joe and the guys here in a bit, but right now I need a drink." He said and walked to the bar to get a beer, cracking it open and taking a drink. Now he was ready to party. He stood, watching the others slow dancing while the song played on until the end and was quickly followed by Somebody by Bryan Adams, which was a harder song. Nick bobbed his head to it with a smirk. He didn't mind Careless Whisper, though, and would slow dance with Susie when the next love song came on.

After a few minutes, Nick's friends showed up, and Leon had somebody that Joe had fixed him up with last month. Her name was Sandra, and she was just crazy about him. She loved how quiet and 'mysterious' he was. She found him to be interesting and sweet. The guys were surprised that Leon opened up to someone. Normally, he's very shy and reserved. Jeremy saw Nick and Susie and smiled, calling out as they walked over to greet them. Leon gave a wave but not in any general direction before he and Sandra went to go out back. Just Leon being Leon.

Nick looked up when hearing Jeremy and slapped hands with him when he and the others came over. "I was starting to think that you guys weren't coming." Nick said, and Jeremy laughed. "The girls wanted to go out to eat first, so we did that, but we weren't missing this. How's it going, Susie? Good to see you." Jeremy said, and the other guys and girls greeted her as well.

Suzanne followed Nick over as he agreed to her drink idea, grabbing a cup and filling it with punch. She started drinking it, tasting flavors of cranberry, strawberries and raspberries, all of course with the overwhelming taste of tequila. “This is some dangerous stuff.” She murmured aloud. During Halloween, the bowl had a skeletal hand decoration, but for Valentine’s Day it was a a pink arrow pointing upwards, like it was shooting out of the punch. It was a nice touch. The tables were adorned with pink tablecloths, and little glittery heart confetti was sprinkled over them. She took a glance at the snack table, noticing an array of themed cookies and cakes, as well as the typical chips, pretzels, fruits, and pizza.

The song made a change, and she noticed Danny lead Sofia off the dance floor, heading outside. It didn’t look like she had noticed them yet. She decided to let them go, willing to catch up with her later when she was more available. Somebody had started playing, and Suzanne began tapping her foot to the music as she drank. Soon after they had started settling in, Nick’s friends started to arrive. It was Leon and his new girlfriend Sandra, Jeremy and Jayde, and a few others.

Suzanne smiled politely at them as they joined. Leon and Sandra walked in a different direction, which seemed normal for them. Everyone looked very nice, no doubt trying to impress their dates or other single prospects. “Hi Jeremy!” She greeted back. “I couldn’t be better. You all look really nice!” She complimented politely. She took another sip of her punch as a new song started.

Nicholas noticed that, once the song was over, Sofie and Danny walked outside without even looking for he and Susie. Normally, Sofie would run over to greet her, but maybe they just didn't see them. He shrugged it off and took another drink of beer while talking to Jeremy and the others. He hoped that Sofie wasn't mad at Susie.

Jeremy nodded to Susie's answer while putting an arm around Jayne, who leaned into him. The two were happy together, and Nicholas was happy for them both. "I'm good. I'm just looking to have a few drinks and a party. Jayne here wants to slow dance later, so we'll be doing that." He said and looked at Jayne, who looked to him with a giggle before they kissed.

Nicholas put an arm around Susie's waist while she stood next to him, not thinking anything of it as he held her. The next song to play was Out of Touch by Hall and Oates, and Nick smiled because he liked the song. It was one that he'd been hearing a lot on radio and MTV, so it quickly grew on him. Soon, Leon came back in to find the others to see who wanted to hit the blunt that Joe had started up. Nick put a hand up, looking to Susie. "Want to go hit that now?" He asked. Jeremy and Jayne decided they'd hit it too, so they and Nick followed their quiet friend outside.

Suzanne smiled as she watched his friends. They seemed very happy together. It wasn’t easy going to a Valentines Party without an official date, but going with Nick was something special. She wanted to make the night special. She finished up her punch, throwing her cup towards a nearby trash bin before grabbing a bottle of Seagram’s to drink. The punch was delicious, but definitely too sweet. Her eyes wandered behind Jeremy for a moment, instantly catching a glimpse of Patricia in the crowd. She looked like she was headed somewhere in a hurry, no doubt trying to find her college boy toy.

The song Out of Touch began playing next, and almost as soon as it had started, Suzanne felt an arm slowly reach around her waist. Woah. She couldn’t help but blush, turning her head slightly in that moment so no one would find it obvious. They’ve hugged, and they’ve grabbed each other’s hands when leading the other somewhere, but they hadn’t advanced that far. It felt affectionate, like they were dating. But nevertheless, she didn’t move away and instead leaned a little bit closer, to show she reciprocated the action.

Just then, Leon had returned with his girl, carrying a blunt in his head. Awesome. She thought to herself. That was going to be her next task. When he offered it up, Nick raised his hand for a hit, but no doubt doing it for her as well. She took a hit first, before passing it to the rest of the crew. “Thank you.” She murmured. After they had all taken one hit, they started to head outside. The pool glistened, as usual, and steam evaporated off of the top to show heat output. Suzanne took another hit, unsure of whether that was the same stuff from Halloween. She knew she’d find out soon enough.

Nicholas noticed Susie leaning into him when he put his arm around her waist and it made him smile as he stood there with her, talking with the others. He didn't expect her to do it but it was nice. It felt right. Like they were an official couple and that was something that Nick hoped would be the result of this party. He liked Susie a lot and wanted to move on to being a couple. He wanted that ever since they started hanging regularly.

Soon he, Susie, Jeremy, Jayne and Leon walked outside to hit the blunt. Leon stood with Sandra and they all stood in a circle, passing the blunt. When it came to Nick he hit it a couple of times then passed it to Jayne who hit it then passed it to Leon who then passed it to Sandra who was a little timid before hitting it. Jeremy assured her that it was fine. That it was just weed and nothing else. Leon smiled as his girlfriend took a hit only to cough when she inhaled.

Nick hurried in and grabbed her a water, bringing it back out and she took it hurriedly and took a drink. She was panicking as Leon assured her that she was okay, telling the others to skip her in the rotation because she was inexperienced. Nick nodded and took one more hit before passing it to Susie, his eyes narrowing but not from anger. He was definitely feeling it and it seemed that Joe had, once again, brought the good stuff out but this was more like a creeper. It didn't hit you all at once but, when it did, it left you feeling great.

"You okay, Suze?" Nick asked with a smile, admiring the girl that stood beside him. Damn, she was pretty. She looked so good in her outfit and he couldn't help but give her another once over from head to toe and back again. His heart beat hard in his chest from both the weed and from the feelings that he was having for the girl. When Jeremy passed it back to him Nick passed and it went to Leon who hit it one more time then put it out for later. He needed to go calm Sandra down so he did his friends adieu for now.

The cloud cover remained thick over their heads as they made their way outside, noticing that the wind was starting up also. It didn’t appear to damper anyone’s spirit, as many people were still hanging out in the pool. Most of the lounge chairs outside were full, but there was room on the back lawn. Pam had put out a basket full of blankets, because the ground was still damp from the rain. The music played from a separate stereo outside, but the tapes were not the same. Where Jump by Van Halen had started playing inside, What’s Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner was playing outside.

Suzanne took the blunt for another hit, passing it on to the next person. She glanced at Sandra with a smile, remembering the first time she had ever smoked. It was her freshman year of high school, and she had just started dating a drummer. She started by smoking with him at his place, most of the time he had it to himself. Then they would smoke together at parties. When they broke up, she never completely kicked the habit. The blunt they were smoking was one of Joe’s, which meant there was something extra in there.

After her third hit, she started to feel the familiar state of her high. Instinctively, she began heading towards a snack table, which was nearby, grabbing a handful of goodies to eat. She sipped more of her drink, finishing it and then throwing it away.
I’m awesome.” Susie said in between bites, giggling at how ridiculous she looked. She took a look at the pool, dissociating for a moment as she focused on the blue color. The music started to fade into a slower tempo, and she couldn’t quite make out the words.

Nick felt bad for Sandra because it reminded him of his first time. It was his sophomore year, and he had just started hanging out with Leon. It was He, Vance, and Jeremy that met Leon at the park to smoke and hang out. After one hit, he was fine, but the second had him coughing and panicking much like Sandra, but after a little while, he was laughing and having a great time. He knew that she would be fine soon because she had great support around her. Not to mention Leon, who looked to care a lot about her and was talking her down.

The song that came on outside was by Tina Turner and was a great one. The music was on point and helped set a positive atmosphere with people talking and having a great time. When Susie pulled away from him, Nick let her, watching quietly as the girl studied the pool as steam rose from it. It looked so inviting and would no doubt feel great if either of them were to jump in. It was the coming back out that would be bad. Especially with the wind picking up. Not to mention, they'd have to stand around in their wet clothes for the rest of the night due to them not having a change of clothes.

Nick looked over at Leon, who was now sitting on a blanket a poolside with Sandra, who was laying on his lap, holding his hand while he talked her down. He was such a great guy. Soon, a slow song came on outside. It was Foreigner's I Wanna Know What Love Is, and it made Nick smile as he reached for Susie's hand. "Hey, you want to dance?" He asked as he gave her hand a very light squeeze. Inside Pat Benatar's We Belong started up, and people were dancing to that.

Suzanne decided to take a break from drinking, preferring to ride her high instead. She ate the rest of her snacks, taking a look around her at the environment. There were a couple of slow songs starting, and she watched couples pile onto the dance floor. Single friend groups stood off to the side, watching them dance. A couple of people in the pool had started a water volleyball game with a net and a soccer ball. They were whooping and hollering, splashing anyone nearby as they landed.

Next time Pam hosted a party, Suzanne planned on bringing a swimsuit or a change of clothes so that she could get in. She preferred doing that in the summer months, because it was much more refreshing. There was always a graduation party, usually held in May or June, for seniors that was a big deal. It was the pre-summer party, and most of the time, the last one before the new school year.

At Nick’s offer to dance, she smiled and took his hand. “Sure.” She said lightly. I Wanna Know What Love Is was one of her personal favorites. They went to the dance floor together, being closely followed by Jeremy and Jayde. She turned around to face him, putting her arms around his neck. She brought herself closer, almost to the point of touching chest to chest. She started stepping from side to side, as rhythmically as she could to the music.

Love was all around at this party. The couples in attendance flooded the dance floor while singles stayed back. Hopefully they would find someone to love by the night's end and not have to leave lonely. There were plenty of people there. Boys and girls do it would be impossible for them to leave still single and dejected.

When Susie accepted his offer to dance Nicholas smiled and followed her to the dance floor, taking her into his arms. Her perfume still there despite the overpowering smell of Marijuana from the blunt and it was intoxicating just by itself. Once again they were close. Almost chest to chest as they stepped in a slow circle in rhythm to the song as Nick looked into Susie's eyes.

"You look so pretty tonight, Suze. I can't get over it. I'm really glad that we're friends but....." Nick said as he stared into the girl's eyes. "I would love for us to be more than friends. I like you a lot." He said in light tone as Jeremy and Jayne stepped beside of them, giving them both a smile as Jayne teased. "Just kiss already, you two!! It's Valentine's Day!!" She said with a giggle. She wanted the two to just become a couple. She thought that they were cute together.

Nick chuckled at Jayne's teasing but inside he agreed. He wished that they'd go further than just friends but he'd wait as long as Susie wanted him to. He was sure that his patience would be rewarded.

As they started dancing, she found herself consumed in the moment. Other couples around them began to fade away, similar to before at the Halloween party. She instinctively moved closer, placing her head gently on his chest. She closed her eyes, taking in that moment in time. She hoped it was something that she’d remember for the rest of her life. She continued to step in time as the song carried on.

After some time, she removed her head from his chest, staring into his eyes. His confession warmed her heart, and she felt her eyes soften. Over the past couple of months, she had started to realize that she wanted the same thing. It had been hard to come to terms with at first, and the social stigma remained even still. But more and more, she felt like it was something the two of them could get past together. She wanted to murmur a ‘thank you,’ but no words came out.

Just then, Jayde slid next to them with Jeremy, butting into the moment. She felt that if it was more private, she might be brave enough to kiss him, without the prying eyes of their peers and friends. “Do you want to go upstairs?” She asked him hesitantly, responding to his question with a question. She felt that if they were to do this, it had to be done right.

Nicholas held onto Susie when she snuggled against his chest, smiling as his attention was only on her. There was no one else around as far as he was concerned. Even Jeremy and Jayne were irrelevant at this moment in time. Nick was holding someone that he cared for and didn't want this moment to end. That is until Susie asked him a big question.

Go upstairs? Did Susie really just ask him to go upstairs with her? Nicholas thought to himself as he suddenly felt his heart start to pound in his chest when he heard the question leave Susie's lips. How could he say anything other than yes? Ever since they'd met, he had felt something for her, and this was one of those moments that would not present itself again if he were say no. Instinctively, he gave a nod, agreeing to go with her. Though, at this point, he was willing to go anywhere. He stopped dancing and took her hand, leaving the dance floor and walking back towards the house. He was nervous but tried not to show it.

Nick maneuvered in and out of the groups of other guests on his way to the steps. There was no doubt that many couples would be using the bedrooms throughout the night so for her to ask if he wanted to go upstairs now was well timed because if they waited any longer then there wouldn't be a room available. Not with a party full of teens and young adults with access to booze and Marijuana.

Once they made it up, he picked a room, pulling Susie in with him and turning to her with a smile, still a bit nervous but ready for whatever happened next. "Close the door, Suze." He said while sitting on the bed, hearing the next song come on, which was Tenderness by General Public.

Suzanne felt a great deal of apprehension before and after the question, wondering briefly if it was the right move. She couldn’t ignore the feelings of lust stirring around inside of her, and she wanted to do more than just say yes. She wanted him. She followed him into the house, turning her head to look back at his friends quickly. They were looking after them as they walked away, and she could tell that they were pleased with how things were going to go. They passed several couples on the way to the stairs, and she noticed that many of them were heading up the stairs as well. Pam had an array of bedrooms, but she was glad that they’d be able to take one before they all got full.

Although she didn’t show it, she was very nervous when she got into the room. She shut the door behind her gently and clicked the lock. After doing so, she turned to face him, her heart racing in her chest. She approached him slowly, surprising herself by sitting on his lap, facing him directly. She had one hand on his chest, and the other on his cheek, letting that one slide down until she was touching his shoulder. Before she could help herself, she leaned down and kissed him. It was soft at first, but became more passionate as the kiss deepened. Before she knew it, clothes were being thrown in every direction, landing all over the room. Noise could be heard from the bedrooms around them, and very soon their bedroom would be joining them.

~~~Fade~~~~
Suzanne laid in the bed next to Nick, taking long and deep breaths after the events that took place. Not much time had passed, and the party was still in full swing downstairs. She had the comforter wrapped around her as she tried to warm up, taking a break before getting up to put her clothes back on. She still needed time to wrap her head around what happened, and to acknowledge how she felt about the sex. They were two creatures of passion in that moment, giving themselves to one another wholeheartedly. She didn’t make eye contact or say anything yet, and her eyes stayed pointed to the ceiling above.
Nicholas watched Susie as she closed and locked the door before turning to him, making eye contact as she sat on his lap and placed her hands on him. Before he could say a word her lips were on his as a soft kiss was shared between them as Nick wrapped his arms around Susie's waist, holding her closer to him. Her lips were so soft and tender. It m the kiss was all that he'd hoped it would be and more. Soon the kiss deepened then it became a full on make out before the clothes started to fly in all directions. With one article landing on a nearby dresser. Thank goodness Nick carried two condoms on his person because they were soon in bed, having sex. Their lustful song filling the room and hallway to join the others.
When they finished Nick laid beside of Susie, nude and panting heavily while collecting himself. The two had just slept together and the whole thing had stemmed from Jayne's demanding that the two kiss. Life was funny that way but one had to wonder; was this what they both wanted? It wasn't like they were pressured into having sex. It just happened naturally but there was still the uncomfortable silence. It was deafening as Nick got up from the bed shortly after Susie did and took off his condom, tying it and tossing it in a beside trashcan and getting dressed.
He didn't know what to say as he put his boxers, pants and shirt on. His hair was messed up and he needed to go into the restroom to clean his junk off so he quietly walked past Susie, heading for the door. The sound of others having sex could be heard still. Seemed like new people had come up to get their rocks off as well.
Suzanne sat up, watching as Nick started to leave the room. She began to have second thoughts, wondering if that was something she should’ve initiated. In the moment, it felt like the right thing, and she wanted it. During sex, it felt like the right thing. But as she laid there in that thick, uncomfortable silence, she wondered if the experience had made him feel the same way. She started to make movements before he returned, putting on her clothes and heading out towards a bathroom. She didn’t spot Nick in the hallway yet and wondered if he had already gone downstairs.
Since that had officially happened, she began to wonder how she was going to tell her friends. It was likely Nick would know what to say to his, but she hoped he wouldn’t get too graphic about details. She didn’t want Patricia to be right. Sofia would be surprised, but happy. Carol would just shrug and make some crude joke. She could already see the glaring eyes of Patricia, as she slowly slipped away.
Suzanne found an empty bathroom and entered, shutting the door behind her. She used it and cleaned herself up a bit, before washing her hands throughly and heading out. She went back into the bedroom to look for Nick, spotting him reclothing himself. “Hey.” She murmured. “I’m getting a little hungry, so I think I’m gonna go downstairs and get some food if you want to come.” She had slowly started to sober out of her high, and she thought about drinking water instead of alcohol for the rest of the night. She needed to be able to sort through her feelings without being under the influence.
Nicholas watched Susie as she left to go use the restroom, wondering if this was a sign that they were dating. He really didn't expect to come upstairs and have sex, though it did feel great and he loved it, but he also loved Susie. He didn't want this to be the only time that they got intimate. Not after all of the time that they'd spent together, getting to know and trust one another. He couldn't just throw that away. He wanted to be her boyfriend and to kiss her and have her come over to cuddle and watch TV up in his room.
As he got himself dressed, he started to think of how to ask her out instead of just going downstairs to face the looks of their friends and peers. When he heard the toilet flush and Susie came back soon after he finished getting dressed, he listened to her then let out a light sigh. "Susie....... Would you like to be my girl?" He asked as he walked over to take her hands and look in her eyes. "I don't want what we just shared to be it for us. I..........I love you, Susie..." He said, being honest.
His heart started to pound in his chest as he waited to see what Susie's reaction would be. If his friends knew what they did, they would have told him to just be friends with benefits with Susie, but Nick didn't want that. They had spent way too much time getting to know one another for that to be the result. He wanted to be her guy, and he wanted her to be his girl. It was that simple.
Suzanne waited patiently as the silence continued for another moment. He looked like he had a lot more to say. Soon enough, he stood up and laid out all of his feelings for her, taking her hands and looking into her eyes. Suzanne looked into his, not flinching or turning away. Casual sex was one thing, and a relationship was entirely different. She wasn’t too sure that it was the type of decision she should be making in her state, but she couldn’t make him wait any longer. He was passionate about her, and her about him.
She started thinking about things, taking a moment of silence before answering. The social stigma didn’t matter anymore, and she cared more about what her friends thought. The majority would be supportive, and she thought it could initiate a productive conversation with Patricia. She did miss her friend, despite her recent behavior. She had yet to see Sofia that night, and she’d love for the first thing she’d say to be ‘I’m dating Nick.’ She knew Sofia would be happy, and that she’d jump for joy.
In fact, telling everyone in a party setting would be a big deal, because that’s the fastest place for news to spread. New hookups and new couples occurred at every party, and people looked for that kind of gossip. Her heart pounded in her chest, and her hands shook a little in his. “I…” She paused. “I…love you too.” She admitted in one breath. “So, yes. I’ll be your girl.
After he'd said his piece, Nicholas stood, holding Susie's hands while waiting to hear her reply. The silence was deafening, and it was making him a nervous wreck on the inside, but outside, he was holding it together. Would she have the same feelings for him? Would she agree to be his girl, or did he just pour his thoughts and feelings out to a girl who just wanted casual sex and nothing else? Those were the thoughts that were racing through his mind as he sat there in the silence that was becoming thicker and heavier by the second.
When Susie finally spoke and expressed her feelings for Nick he could feel a great weight being lifted from him and his heart leap with joy as he smiled and leaned in to kiss Susie's lips softly while pulling her into his arms. He was overjoyed that they were now a couple. The feelings that he'd expressed for her were honest and true. He couldn't lie about that. Not to her. They had just had sex and it was something special, so for him to just pull something out of his ass to try and convince her to be his girl would be asinine.
Pulling away slowly, he broke the kiss, giving a smile as he looked into Susie's beautiful eyes once more, giving a sigh of happiness. "I guess we'd better get downstairs like you said. I'm a little hungry myself. I've got the munchies." He said as he let her go and reached for her hand while unlocking and opening the door with the other. When he opened it he could hear the party and people yelling and laughing. It was still in full swing.
Nick knew that his friends would be thrilled when he announced that he was dating Susie. Except Vance, that is. He would voice his displeasure on it, but Nick wouldn't listen. He didn't care about what he or anyone said. Vance didn't seem to want to hang out with he and the others anymore, so his opinion was irrelevant. He was stuck too far up Judy's ass to have an opinion of his own. Her words were his, and it showed. She had him by the balls.
As they walked downstairs, the song Run to You by Bryan Adams started up, and the guests cheered because it was a popular song. Nick walked Susie over to the snack bar, letting go of her hand to get a can of Pepsi and a little paper bowl of snacks. He chose some potato chips and opened his pop to take a drink. He was so happy that they were dating couldn't walk with her hand in hand in places.
Suzanne could feel the mood shift as soon as she said yes. It felt lighter and more exciting. She felt as though a weight had been lifted from her after finally being able to voice her thoughts aloud. He leaned in and kissed her again and she returned it, kissing him back passionately. Since it was official, she could feel nerves settling in as she knew it was time to announce it. It was something all too familiar, the nerves involved in a new relationship. There was no telling where it would go. Or how it will end. She thought to herself, allowing a dark thought to creep in. None of the relationships she had been in had worked out, and therefore true success was something she hadn’t encountered.
Once he broke the kiss, the two of them headed downstairs to get something to eat. Although it had felt like they were in a whole different place in time, the party had not stopped around them. In fact, less time had gone by then she had thought. They approached the snack table, separating for a moment while they each grabbed some snacks and a drink. She decided to go with water as she ate two pieces of leftover pizza. People around them were laughing and having the best time, as song after song continued to play.
Suddenly, Sofia popped into view and Suzanne waved her over before she could walk away. Danny wasn’t with her. “Sofia!” Suzanne greeted excitedly.
Sofia hugged her, grabbing her shoulders as they faced each other. “I haven’t seen you all night! Where have you been?
Suzanne grinned, wondering whether it would be a good time to break the news. But before she could speak, Sofia said something else. “Tonight has been so fun! Danny and I have had a radical time. He’s hanging with some of his other friends right now, getting nice and high.” She laughed. “I didn’t really care to be a part of it, so I’ve just been wandering around looking for you.
Suzanne looked over, noticing that Nick wasn’t paying attention yet. She looked at her friend with sparkling eyes. “Nick and I had sex.
Sofia’s eyes widened and her mouth dropped. “What! So does that mean you guys are…?”
Before she could finish, Suzanne nodded. “Yes! We’re together.
Sofia screamed in glee, shaking Susie’s shoulders more. “That’s so awesome! We have to celebrate!” She walked over to Nick, grabbing his arm and pulling him towards them. “We all need to dance!
Nicholas was leaning against the wall next to the snack bar, munching on chips and listening to the music while watching people dance and talk amongst themselves. He didn't know that Sofie had been pulled over to talk to Susie about what was going on and catch up. He started thinking about what he and Susie did just an hour ago and how much he loved her. He hoped that their relationship went the distance. He would move to marry her one day but it was way too soon to be thinking like that.
When Sofie screamed with joy it startled Nick and took him from his thoughts as he looked at the two girls talking until he was pulled by Sofia to dance. Giving a laugh he took one more drink of Pepsi then sat it on a table before coming with them. He liked Sofia and was looking forward to he and Susie going on double dates with she and Danny. It sounded like fun to him as he danced with Susie, looking into her eyes with a smile. He was glad that she was his girl because he cared a lot for her and wouldn't ever cheat or stray. He would be true to her.
"I love you." Nick said to Susie as he danced with her. His heart was warm and he had a pep in his step after having made their relationship official. Having a love was a whole different feeling. It gave one a whole new outlook on life. Jayne and Jeremy had walked in to go look for Nick after having noticed he and Susie's prolonged absence. Jayne looked around only to spot he and Susie dancing with Sofie so she didn't want to bother them now but she'd grill him when he was free.
As they headed to the dance floor, the previous song ended and Footloose began playing. It prompted more people to dance, including people that were hearing it from outside. It was a very popular song. Suzanne followed Sofia, with Nick following close behind. Once they found a good spot, they all started to dance like no one was watching. They were laughing, throwing their arms around, and banging their heads in glee. Sofia took Suzanne’s arms, pushing them back and forth as they danced together. Then, Susie turned to Nick, shimmying back and forth with him. She heard his ‘I love you’, smiling but not responding that time. She wanted to preserve the moment.
She thought ahead to all of the events and parties that they’d be able to go to as a couple, looking forward to the new experiences. She wanted him to go to her tennis matches in the spring, and she wanted to watch him skate with his friends. It would be very different from her previous relationships, where she was considered a bystander. She wanted to be active with him, doing anything and everything they could together, all while getting to know each other in the process.
Footloose eventually ended, and another fast song began to play. Suzanne left the dance floor, ready for another drink. She took a bottle of water and chugged it down, looking back to see that Sofia had followed her. “That was so fun!” She panted, grinning. “I’m gonna go find Danny, so we can all do the next slow song together!” With that, she skipped off happily to look for him. Suzanne smiled warmly at her friend’s enthusiasm, always grateful for her support. Meanwhile, she hadn’t seen Patricia since that brief moment before all of the events had unfolded. She was sure they’d run into each other before the night was over.
Nicholas happily danced with Susie and Sofie to Footloose, dancing with not a care in the world. There was no reason for him to have any cares or stress. He was in a relationship with a beautiful girl and they were in love. Things couldn't possibly be better for him. Nick moved in rhythm to the song, smiling big as he watched Susie with such admiration as she shimmied in front of him, looking very sexy.
When the song ended he walked off of the dance floor as well, needing a drink. He took a water and sat down in a nearby chair to rest but not without patting his lap. "Come sit down, Suze. Take a rest with me." He said with hopes that she'd sit on his lap so he could her. He didn't care who was looking at his point. They could stare all they wanted because he cared not for the social stigma. He was sick and tired of it governing who people dated and talked to.
He saw Leon and Sandra walk in and Susie, through the crowd and upstairs. It looked like they were going to be getting lucky and Nick was happy for them. It seemed that everyone in their circle had a girlfriend and was happy with exception of Megan who was working on a guy named Peter who was in her science class. She had a big crush on him and he seemed to have an interest in her as well.
Suzanne sat down next to Nick, drinking the rest of her water. The thought to sit in his lap hadn’t even occurred to her yet, as the relationship was so new. She noticed that the party was starting to thin a little, so she looked up at a clock. 2 AM. Wow, all that dancing had made it late. Most of the time, crowds would clear out by 4 AM, and anyone left over were usually passed out or having sex. She was sober enough at that point to get home, and she thought Nick would probably still be able to drive.
Soon enough, Sofia broke through the crowd, with Danny in hand. Sure enough, the smell of marijuana came off of him in waves. He certainly wouldn’t be driving home. He looked like he was having trouble standing, let alone asking him to dance. A slower tune had started to play, and it was on the second verse before the pair returned. “Come on!” Sofia giggled excitedly. “Let’s all dance.”
She had Danny in hand, leading him stumbling to the dance floor. He was in no state to complain, she he just followed. Suzanne stood up, extending her hand out to Nick. “Let’s go.” She said.
Nicholas gave a shrug when Susie opted not to sit on his lap. After all, it was too early for that, and he'd just had her on his lap upstairs. That and much, much more so he couldn't complain. It was getting pretty late, and he started to wonder how late his parents would be out. He didn't know if they were just going out to dinner or if they were meeting up with some friends and going out as a group. He had a key, so he wasn't too worried about it. He was sober enough to get he and Susie home safely so he would leave when she was ready.
When Sofia approached them and told them to get up and dance with, she and Danny Nick smiled, chuckling lightly as he watched Danny barely able to stand as he swayed back and forth If it wasn't for Sofie, then he'd be on the floor. The poor boy was in no condition to do anything upright. One would hope that Sofie wasn't expecting anything in bed later because Danny would be too stoned to really perform.
Nick took one more drink of water before setting the bottle down and taking Susie's hand to go slow dance. He stood up and followed to the dance floor, taking her into his arms and moving from side to side. It had been a fantastic night. He and Susie were dating, he wasn't going to be sick and hungover the next day, and he had gotten lucky. He looked forward to the future and what it would hold for he and Susie. He hoped that their love would last forever.
The two couples stood next to each other on the dance floor, rocking back and forth with their partners. She had her hands around the back of Nick’s neck again, and they were as close as they could get. Her head rested against his chest, and her eyes were closing. The exhaustion of the night was just starting to hit her, and she thought that after the dance, they could potentially go home. She was going to sleep well that night.
Her mind drifted to her other relationships as they held each other. How they began and how they ended. Some of them had started a lot like theirs, after a drunken make out or even sex. It seemed to be the easiest way to get a guy’s attention, and it worked most of the time. Her longest lasting relationship was a full year, and it had started the same way. The only reason it ended was because he was an addict, and his parents sent him off to a rehab facility. She never received a call, and she had never seen him again after that.
After being lost in thought for a moment, she accidentally stepped on his toes, looking up at him apologetically. “Sorry.” She whispered. After the song ended, she looked at him once more. “I think I’m ready to go home.
Nicholas held onto Susie as she put her head on his chest. His arms were wrapped around her waist, and his hand was on her back as they danced with Sofie and Danny and the remaining couples. The idea of just staying over crossed his mind for a brief moment, but he quickly decided against it due to the rooms no doubt having been claimed already. Plus, he wanted to sleep in his own bed. Though he did wish that Susie could sleep with him but his parents wouldn't go for that at all.
Nicholas started to wonder what that would do now that they were a couple. He hadn't really thought of going to college, so there was no threat of him leaving Susie behind. He wanted to stay with her. His last relationship ended because his then girlfriend cheated on him after swearing up and down the she hated the guy that she cheated with. She ended up getting pregnant with twins, and the guy ran off, didn't pay child support, and wound up in jail.
When Susie stepped on his foot, he cried out,'Ow!' Lightly but didn't mind what she did. He knew it was an accident. "It's cool, babe. It happens." He said as he ignored the very minute pain. It was no big deal. Once the song ended, he gave a nod to Susie's wishes to leave and looked to Sofie and Danny with a smile. "Hey, we're gonna split. Would you two like a ride home? He does not look well enough to drive." Nick said as he looked at Danny, who still looked gone. His eyes were red, and he had a mile long stare.
