- Tall OrdersThere are unimaginable forces beyond our understanding in our realm. And then, there is the plainly unexplainable. The purview of the Secret Intelligence Coalition.
Made up of carefully vetted individuals, not simply law enforcement or soldiers, but people of all trades, the SIC keeps at bay all manner of supernatural activity through containment, labor, and most important, appeasement. And as ominous as that sounds, being a sleeper agent for the SIC comes with a lot of perks. A second salary for doing nothing but completing surveys, free healthcare, a yearly allowance for frivolous spending, things they know are very difficult to say no to. Because it all comes at a cost. At any moment, a stranger might pass you a slip of paper and order you to uproot your life for an extended period, or say bye-bye to everything they gave you. At that point, you're forced to do whatever the SIC asks of you. Partly because failure is in some cases as bad as refusal, and partly because the consequences of an unmanned role could have disasterous consequences for the planet.
People with preoccupations get some leeway, and the more socially important you are, the less is asked of you. People like these need only disappear for a few days at most. Seven categories of status related to this system exist, and an individual's personal status is always in flux. New promotion? Pregnant spouse? You're usually bumped up a grade. But those who have practically nothing and nobody, G-Class, don't get a lick of mercy. Pray you don't have to choose between your perks and disappearing for years.
---
It's finally happened. Whether you're a new recruit or a veteran, word of G-Class work has haunted your worst nightnares about the SIC. And now, it's your turn. You've been assigned to Jacob Glass.
Known throughout the SIC as the Dreamer, Jacob is a young man with a wavering inability to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. However, this particular distinction is not what what makes him worthy of being watched by the SIC. Glass possesses the ability to truly bring his fantasies to life and make others experience them as well. Those assigned to his duty are regularly referred to as 'playmates,' for the nature of their work. Simply put, you'll be playing pretend. But it'll feel all too real to you.
The 'term duration' on the form is 'indefinite.' Wherever Glass's cage is, you'll be living nearby with whoever else you're assigned with. From what little you've heard of this particular assignment, it's practically a dream come true. The change to experience someone's imagination like real life? Who would turn that down? Well, there's a reason Jacob's playmates have to be rotated.
Time to make up your mind. Hide and pretend you don't hear the persistent knocking on your door, or wait outside for the black van to steal you away. - OOCIf you've made it this far, you've earned yourself an explanation. This is indeed one of those 'RP within RP' dealies. There's some rando lore I threw in there for exposition's sake, but the TLDR of it is, you're an unfortunate, sad sack being forced to 'play' with a supernaturally powered man-child. Day to day, most of the characters' adventures won't have any real continuity, but when the characters have downtime away from Jacob, there'll time to reflect, so to speak.
Also, the characters will all be originating from a modern setting. They will be required to adopt personas, but they will always know who they really are deep down. I'll be GMing, playing as Glass, as well as other NPCs, so I'm looking for maybe a group of 6? - Setup
