Blood of the Dragon

If a Clock Could Countdown to the Minute You Met Your Soulmate, Would You Want to Know?

Turns out, you don't have a choice. It's 2014, and everyone is born with a timer on their wrists, counting down the seconds until they meet their soulmate. It isn't all happy endings, though. Some people die before they can meet their other half, leaving their soulmate with a broken timer permanently in their skin, a constant reminder of what they could have had. Others decide they don't like the looks of who they got, and never give them a chance.

This one is the story of the students of Medvale High. This is the first year the private school has been open, and none of the teens have met before. All they know is the number on their wrists is getting smaller. Some will get to zero. Others will stop before it can.

giraffesarebetter updated 3, 2, 1... There They Are -- Still Accepting with a new update entry:

And The Countdown begins!

About to post the starter. Your timers begin with the amount of time in your Character Sheet. YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE YOUR TIME ONCE so be sure to make it because you're matching times with another person. Also, be sure to follow your time. I'll be sure to post the date in an update every day, so there is no confusion as to how much time has passed. I'll also do things like weather and such in the updates.
Read the rest of this update entry...
Date: Friday, August 13.

Weather: Hot and humid, with a high of 95 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 73. Partly cloudy with a 60% chance of light rain.

Locaation: Everyone starts off in their respective dorms. Go wherever you like from there.

Adella

Adella smiles as she walks into her dorm room. She would finally have her own room here. Setting her large suitcase on the bed, she begins unpacking, leaving her door open. She places all her clothes in the wardrobe, puts up a Les Miserable poster above the small desk, and places her school supplies inside it. The last thing she does is hang a small white board in the center of her door. Perhaps she could get someone who could draw to write her name in some cool way.

After writing her name in the best way she could, she heads out with her camera to go take some pictures of the campus.

Ariana

Ariana places her bag in the bottom of the wardrobe, not bothering to unpack yet. She could see her sister across the hall, already hanging up posters. Adella was so happy to be here. She was too, she supposed, though not in the same way, and not for the same reasons. The only thing she puts up is her mirror, and only because that was the only thing out of her bag. Shutting the door behind her, Ariana goes out to the Common Room, which she had been told was complete with a kitchenette, a pair of flatscreens, and some ridiculously comfy couches.

Web

Web hangs up his clothes, and places his box of booze under his bed. Even if there were room checks, he had enough money to pay off the Dean... he hoped. If not, then oh well. He could go back home, to his friends. Or, friend-like people. The people he partied with would be the best description. If he were to look on the bright side, which he probably wouldn't, there would be a lot of new people to "meet."

Web lays on his bed and stares at the ceiling, not bothering to close the door. He only had 5 days left. It was right there on his wrists. He wonders who his alleged "soulmate" would be, and whether they believed in it or not. Hopefully, they didn't, and he could keep on keeping on. Hopefully.

Nanami walked into her dorm room. She sighed, breathing in. She was happy to be here, and from the looks of it, so was her soul mate. She smiled and looked at her kitten. "Mewchi, let's go." she said, letting her kitten out. She smiled at the little puffball as she wandered around in her new room. She smiled and sat on her bed.

--Mira--

The girl slammed her hand down on her alarm clock, groaning. "Stupid thing," she muttered, lifting herself from the sheets of her bed. She grabbed her comb and started brushing her hair. Taking a quick shower, she changed from her pajamas into her usual day clothes and made her bed. Mira hurried out of her room, fully prepared to get some extra reading time at one of the benches. The girl sat at a nearby bench and opened up her book, adjusting the position of the glasses. She planned to read until class started.

--Kris--

Kris was already up, changing into his usual attire. He checked his wrist and hoped to find his Soul Mate today. She will come, and I will find her. He grabbed his shoes and quickly slipped them on. He ventured out of his dorm and near the girls's living quarters, hoping to spot someone with the same times. Already girls that were up, were looking for a chance to flirt and talk with him. Shrugging them off, Kris continued to look for anyone with the same times as him. He was like this everyday, pausing to engage in small talk and then continuing his search.

Kou stretched, looking at his clock. He sighed, realizing he was going to have to get up. He sighed, pulling the comforter off his warm body. He sighed, running her hands though his hair. He smiled and walked to the bathroom and took a shower. When he got out and fixed his hair, putting a beanie on and his glasses, smiling. He feed his cat and sat on the bed, petting her.

Mi-sun played with his hair as he stared at his reflection, just yesterday he had dyed it it's new eccentric pink without telling anyone and was going to reveal it by going on a walk today before homeroom. With a large smile he fixed his glasses and pointed at his reflection assuringly before retreating from his room and out into the corridor in which he was instantly greeted by his economics teacher with a cheery good morning. They spoke for a couple minutes as she had complimented his new hair but soon she had to go prepare for class and they bid each other farewell and went separate ways. Mi-sun stepped outside and took in a deep breath before spotting Mira with her nose in a book as expected. With fast steps he strutted over greeting those he passed a crossed the courtyard. As he neared the bench he ceased all sound from himself and sneaked up behind the girl on his tip toes. Fixing his glasses one last time with a flick of his fingers he suddenly clasped his hands down on her shoulders and shouted a friendly boo hoping to surprise the girl.

((I'm assuing it's morning))

Gabriela

Gabriela had woken up very early. She had been having nightmares about the only thing that was troubling her nowadays, her timer. How had time passed by so quickly? Last time she checked she had years left before she met her love, now the day was less than 4 days away. Gabriela had changed into some sweats and jogged from the dorms to the gymnasium. After doing her cardio workout and her strength exercises, she was now outside on the field with the rest of her squad going over routines for the next competition.

Some of her squad had already met their soul-mates and they seemed to be pretty happy with their match. One girl's timer had stopped completely while another refused to talk to her soul-mate. With so much on her mind about the soul mate she would have it was almost impossible for her to concentrate fully on the routines. "Okay girls take five." Gaby yelled. She headed over to the bleachers and took a big sip of water. There was only a few minutes of practice left for the morning and she needed to get through them.

Once practice was over Gaby headed back to her dorm. She smiled and waved at several people she crossed on the way always keeping a smile on her face. When Gaby entered her dorm she hurried off into the shower and got ready for school. She decided to wear a cute flower print dress and a mint colored sweater. Gabriela headed to her small vanity and began applying her makeup. She went for a simple natural look applying neutral shades on her eyes and a light salmon colored lip gloss. She grabbed jewelry to match her outfit and a set of heels to match her jewelry. Gaby stood in front of her full sized mirror and nodded in approval. Since she had short hair, she didn't have to worry much about it. She just brushed her short black waves and let it do it's own business.

When Gaby was done she headed out to the dinning hall to see if they were serving any breakfast.

"Mi-sun!" she yelped, a small smile on her lips. He was the only one who could actually make the girl smile, which annoyed her profoundly. She closed her book, memorizing the page number and glared at the only friend she had. She pressed her fingers down her shirt, hoping to smooth out the wrinkles.

"It's not funny," she snapped, her eyes still fixated on Mi-sun.

Mi-sun stepped around from behind the bench and sat beside her a goofy grin on his face as he leaned in and pointed at her.

"It is most definitely funny," he stated before crossing his arms in front of his chest, though the temperature he was wearing a coat and it made a small swivel noise as he moved.

"So," he began raising his eye brows expectingly, "notice anything new?" He questioned referring to his vibrantly coloured hair which had replaced his natural brunette head of hair.

Him and Mira had been friends for a couple years now and though their differences in attitude they seemed to always get along better with one another then some others.

Justin quickly unpacked with the very little stuff he had. He didn't care for his timer but it seems like others did. He didn't care for school either but was told he would find his soulmate here so he just decided to go to this school. He just grabbed the stuff he needed and went to the homeroom classroom.

Nanami walked out of her room, in a pair of jeans and a Zelda t-shirt. She smiled, looking around. She had her song book in hand and her favorite pair of convers. She sighed a bit, walking to her homeroom. She had never wanted to meet her soul mate more than now. And by the looks of it she wouldn't have to wait a super long time.

Damon had arrived at Medvale the day before. This was all new to him and a little overwhelming. Living in the same small town had kind of closed him off from the rest of the world. He wasn't used to such a big town and so many people at one school. He got lost pretty easy trying to find his way to his room. Now he woke up in his new room for the first time. Since it was the start of a new year that meant football. So Damon was up before the sun was and made his way to the field. This was something he was used to. Football was life blood to a Texan.

As the sun came up it got hotter and the practice seemed to drag out but Damon was glad for the workout. He liked the feeling of being exhausted, as weird as it sounded. It kept his mind of things he didn't want to think about. After practice he took a quick shower and got into his t-shirt and sun faded blue jeans. He made his way to his first class of the day. Hopefully he could find it in time. He didn't want to be late for his first day.

Adella

Adella lifts her camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T2i, to her face, pointing the lens at an empty bench by the road near the science wing. She kneels down in the damp grass, surely staining the knees of her new maroon tights. After snapping a couple pictures, she stands and pulls down her simple white A line skirt, as it had ridden up slightly whilst she was taking the pictures. Taco pads around near the bench, exploring her new home. The kitten was only about 2 months old, so she had never really come to know their old place, but it was still new. Smiling, Adella takes a close up of her orange cat with her tail wrapped around the leg of the bench.

Ariana

Ariana turns off the TV and goes to her dorm to grab her bag. It had her French notebook, textbook, and folder in it, as that was her first class. It was a long walk to the Language Wing, so, after placing Lila in her ball so she could run around, she locks her dorm and heads that way.

Web

Olive comes to lay on Web's chest and places her paw on his nose. He stares at her. "What?" The cat looks back, as if to say 'You have class, idiot.' The boy groans and scratches the cat behind the ears before placing her on the bed and standing. "Fine. Whatever." He doesn't bring anything, as he heads out to the Science Wing.

Damon's first class of the day was world history. That was OK with him. He enjoyed learning about things from the past. All he had to do was remember dates and people just like he had to remember plays for sports. So Damon made his way to where a small map showed his history class to be. His legs felt like jello but it didn't bother him. He walked and smiled at the people he passed. So many people, could one of them be his soul mate? His clock was close and that stressed him out more then anything.

Rosaleen woke up with a lazy groan. Her bedding was a mess; only a corner of the entire bedspread actually on her. It was on her ankle and the rest of the sheets and bedspread were completely off the bed. Rosa rolled out of bed and lazily stumbled to the shower. She quickly washed up and came back out with a towel around her, and another around her head. She went back into her room and got dressed in a light green tank top, and shorts along with colorful flip flops. She let her red locks fall free from the towel and then began brushing them. Then she used her hair-dryer to mostly dry her hair. Brushed threw it once more, dropped the comb and grabbed her math book and then rushed off to class.

Nanami walked into her first class, history. Ugg, history was so boring. She couldn't wait for PE. She smiled, sitting next to someone random in her class. She noticed her timer hadn't run out yet so it was no one that she had seen this morning. She sighed to herself and opened her book. She hated history most of all. It was so boring.

Aaron looked around himself. Class was about to start and he couldn't wait. History was one of his favourite subjects. When he looked at his timer he sighed.

5 more days until the end. Not the end of the world... Although it felt like the end of the world. What if they didn't get along? What if the other didn't believe in it? I mean sure Aaron himself didn't believe in it when his sister first told him about it. But if it isn't real, where's the timer for? For a long time Aaron thought it predicted when you would die. But than he saw people with timers on zero and realised that that wasn't true. That's when he asked his sister about it. She told him everything he needed to know about soulmates.

When he asked her about their mothers soulmate Alice tensed up. Their mothers timer wasn't at zero yet. He wanted to ask her why she didn't wait for her soulmate but she told him to wait and ask when he's older. But after the years flew by Aaron forgot and his mothers timer still needs to reach zero.

Jenna woke up in her dorm and stared at her wrist. She looked at the scars from years past and then at the timer. Sighing she jumped into the shower and took a long cold shower. Jenna got dressed appropriately for the weather and went to class. History was her best subject.

Jenna sat in the back of the class and didn't talk to anyone. She answered some questions correctly though. Pulling out her phone she sent a text to her grandma "hey. everything is fine I promise! Love you" The teacher looked over, saw Jenna on her phone and took it from her "Miss Adams! My class is no place for cell phones" she yelled. Slowly Jenna nodded her head in agreement.

Damon sat back in his chair as the class went on. First days were nothing but talking about the upcoming year and people introducing themselves. Same thing that happened every year. He didn't bother looking down at his timer, he knew he still had three days. It ate away at him though. He heard the teacher call his name.

"Names Damon Wulf Miss." He said in a slight southern accent. When the teacher asked about it he replied."Moved here from Texas mam." She went on down the list of other students. It seemed like a lot of the students here had come from out of state. Even if they were all from different places it was still high school. Some kids were already grouping together and some even had their phones taken up. "Yep, just like back home." He mumbled under his breath.

Jenna sat in the back of the class quiet as can be. She didn't want to do anything else wrong. Was one of the people in this classroom her soulmate? She hadnt talked to anyone so it could be anyone. The rest of Jenna's life was rested in the fate of a timer. She looked around and saw people grouping up and some people stayed at their seats. She was one of the outsiders but she was okay with it. She fixed her hair and flattened out her shirt she had on.

This school was atleast 3 times larger than any school back in Pottsville. The teacher called her name "Jenna Adams?" She questioned. "I'm right here" Jenna responded. "Oh yes the phone girl." Jenna sighed and slouched back into her seat. Was she always going to be known as "phone girl" in this place?

Jackson woke up from his slumber and immediately took a long warm shower. It was close to being school time but he honestly didn't care if he was late or not. After his shower, he had for dressed. Wearing blue jean shorts and a button up white shirt along with a pair blue Vans to match. He reviewed over himself as he grabbed his car keys and cell phone before walking out of his dorm and heading to class.

Upon entering, it seemed that all the eyes were on him because of his tardiness. "Well, well. First day and we have a "phone girl" and a "tardy boy". What an interesting year this might turn out to be. Sit." The teacher spoke then directed Jackson to his seat. He sat down beside a female in the back of the class then leaned over and extended his hand. "Hello, I'm tardy boy. Nice to meet you." Most of the classroom had light up with laughter as he looked towards the teacher with a wink.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Jackson. Nice to meet you, teach." Jackson said as he smiled widely and brightly towards the teacher.

Jenna looked up seeing Jackson walk in late and she started laughing. Quickly she covered her mouth and the skin near her timer started throbbing. "Oww!" She yelped grabbing her wrist. She caught the attention of the teacher by yelping. "S-s-sorry.." She stuttered and ran out of the room. Jenna never had her timer throb and it hurt a lot. Was this a sign that she was near her soulmate or was it just her skin?

Jenna got herself together and walked back in the room. She slowly walked back to her seat and remembered what her mom said before she died "don't touch anyone or make eye contact unless it's family." She took the rules of the timer seriously but she still tried talking. Jenna turned and made eye contact with Jackson's chest. "Hello. I'm phone girl, or you can call me Jenna" She smiled warmly but never looked Jackson in his eyes.

@Icefox11 ) he had never seen before and felt a slight twitch on his wrist. He quietly slapped the thing and inwardly groaned. He hated history, as he always failed at the assignments. Kris drummed his fingers on his desk, remaking the new song he had made with his clarinet.
