Rumors as to what happened to the Magistrate continue to swirl around the town the day of the race. The governors request to keep the details of his magistrates failing private has kept most names and details from circulating. The unicorn Utaka Rena takes the victory in the race which manages to at least keep even with the intrigue for the most common discussion topic in taverns that evening. Your brief recreation comes to an end with the exodus of guests from unicorn lands, you have duties to return to and things that need done.

((post here things you'd like to take care of afterwards.))

Mai wishes to speak with the governor before leaving. After things settle down, she goes to his place and sees about setting a meeting.

given events you can meet with him without much hassle. Are you preferentially going alone or would you like to bring others with you?

Alone.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Any other free time Mai will be tracking down the old unicorn who did the gajin lore contest and seeing if he is willing to swap tales or teach me about stuff.

Ok, after a few hour wait you are ushered in to speak with the governor, if you want you can give me a key list of questions you want to cover. It also won't be hard to track down the old unicorn and solicit some gaijin and unicorn tales from him.

"Shinjo-sama, Thank you for hosting us for your competitions and cultual exibition. I do hope that recent events do not overshadow the skills and learning that happened here this week. I was inspired to twine together this story for your competition, but I think perhaps it is better suited to this form."

Mai presents a thin book to the governor.

"I hope that as you have taught me of the culture of your people this story may teach the future generations."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Further examination will reveal it to be the written story that she told during the competiion illustrating the value of hunting to the Unicorn reworked as a children's tale.

Seeing that all I was able to do upon arrival was leave a message for the governor, I shall follow that precedent and have this message delivered to the Shijo:

Shinjo-sama,

I am quite happy with the success of the festival! Truly, I will return home with only good memories, as I feel I have learned much in regard to the culture of your clan that I knew not before. I wish to extend my gratitude to my gracious hosts. May the kami watch over you all.

Asako Gregor

Similarly, I will have this letter delivered to the Iuchi

Iuchi-san,

With a refreshed spirit, I must depart from these lands to return to my duties elsewhere. Thank you for you kind company, you are truly a blossoming flower in the vast plains. I hope that soon, you will discover the identity of your anonymous suitor, and that he may show unto you the proper respect for an honorable samurai-ko.

Gratefully,

Asako Gregor

I should have posted it here instead of just telling leslie in chat, but you will be meeting the governor as a group likely on your return to town. More then welcome to still send letters/gifts or whatever your character feels like doing, I just don't want you to feel like this is your only chance to talk to him.

I'm writing this assuming no one is going to turn down the request for brevities sake. If any of you are going to refuse let me know, and we'll deal with it then.

The man taps his folded fan against his chin as he flips through the papers you've presented. A slight tone of chagrin is in his voice as he finally speaks. "Perhaps you've found something warranting a more official look, even if it is only fools chasing superstition. I'm requesting you and the others you list as involved as my yoriki. My duties keep me here, however I have two tasks for you." His eyes glance at you briefly; looking for your automatic consent to his request before he continues. "Firstly you should look into getting this page translated" he taps the foreign page. "If it's Senpet like you think perhaps some of the scholars here in Toshi Ranbo from the unicorn family can be of assistance. Secondly you should investigate these directions, I'll give you travel papers. It seems he's sent or is sending someone there, I'd like to know why, and if possible some living criminals who might have more information would go a long way." Pushing the papers back across the desk he dismisses you to your duties.
