(1x1) Golden Claws and Silver Spoons

Nassadii

local hydralisk
In a kingdom where humans are more populous than your magical brethren, but connected by the modern day conveniences; Ahura wondered sometimes why he and his kind had their medallions. But then the knowlege that this kingdom was very against their hidden neighbors reared it's ugly maw in his early morning thoughts.

It had only been a week since he was chosen to be The Prince's retainer. A week since he left home with the promise the send them back money so they could fix up the home. A week since he watched his brothers and sister run after the car that drove off with him in an effort to tag along but not reveling their true forms. It was heartbreaking, but he knew he wouldn't be gone forever. And in that week...

He was already so done.

The Androsphinx lay awake in the early hours of the morning, still dark outside on his end. Even with a room that he could only describe as a high end condo, was still off of the prince's room and that meant that he could walk in whenever he pleased. He lay in bed in his natural form, yawning before quickly shifting into his human form, purple haired and copper skinned with a golden charm in his ear dressed in a pair of pajamas that he had put on the night before. He bent his torso out forwards, cracking the morning crick out of his back and meandered around his room to get himself ready for the day. A quick shower, wet hair tied back into a pony tail and dried before putting on his uniform with time to spare. "Five minutes to six. I can check in on them." He muttered to himself, quickly shooting a text to his little brother to wake him up for school. It was going to be a long day for the both of them if he was being honest.

Once six rolled around, he made his appearance by the bed of his prince, cleared his throat before speaking up. "Master Alexios. It is time for you to meet the sunrise." He singsonged as he set down a glass of ice water on his nightstand. He hoped that today was an early day, it was close to the weekend after all.

There was a golden horn that rested against Alexios's neck, chain inlaid with diamonds and other expensive jewels, thin and light enough to wear comfortably all the time but showy enough to be fit for a prince. Sometimes, when he thought about it, which in turn led to thinking about his mother, he could swear the little charm would begin to emit heat. When he mentioned it to the court physician it was passed off as a figure of the imagination. It was the only thing he had left of his mother, for she had passed away when he was very long, making him promise before she had gone to never take the necklace off. To his knowledge, she had died from a fever that had passed through their kingdom.

As he laid in bed, waiting for six to inevitably roll around, he felt it begin to warm again. As it had every day for the past week, as he waited for his new manservant to come wake him. He pulled it away from when it rested on his bare chest, closing his fist around it for nay a moment before letting him eyes fall back shut as he heard the door to his room open.

He groaned at the sound of Ahura's voice, a perfect imitation of a just-waking man, and the stretch that followed pulled a genuine purr from the prince. The blankets would pool around his waist, and as Ahura opened the curtains as he was meant to do, the sunlight would illuminate the princes well made body. Even as modern day royalty, he had been brought up with a sword in his hand, and tireless days of practise showed on his otherwise slim form.

"Good morning to you too, Ahura." His eyes were still partially closed as he fumbled about for the drink on the nightstand, unaware of where his retainer was now in the room. The glass nearly toppled off to the floor as his hand ungracefully found it, but he stopped it before it could plummet to it's death, and paused midway to bringing it to his lips. "Would you find an outfit for me today? I've a few boring meetings to sit in on, so something comfortable but professional, I guess." He found it was easy to speak to Ahura, much unlike his previous retainer whom had rarely spoken unless spoken to, and said nothing but the typical yes sire, no sire, and the very scared I don't know sire.

Ahura smirked an amused smile for even in the highest of classes, no one wanted to wake up to the sun's glorious rays. He hummed, wandering over toward Alexios's closet and started flipping through. Part of him wished for a input of his youngest sibling for ideas to bounce off of. She knew more about coordinating an outfit at such a young age. Then again it would be inlaid with more gold than he would know what to do with. He pulled out a pair of slacks and a pressed button down shirt with a gold tie and hung it on the closet door.

At the very least, it was easy to speak to the prince in a more casual tone. They were around the same age after all, but coming from radically different worlds. With Ahura growing up in a quite literal back woods Avalon, and Alexios suckling on a gilded spoon, it was amusing having to explain some things just didn't happen with his family that he wasn't used to...if not a tad annoying when he tried to fix it. "I suppose it will be an early day today? Would be a shame if you had business to attend to all day." He murred, gathering grooming supplies. The androsphinx sighed before feeling his back pocket buzz with a message, one that was more than likely from either his younger brothers or his mother complaining that they didn't wanna go to school or wishing him a good day respectively. He hoped that he and the prince could have some down time that wouldn't be close to 10pm tonight. At the very least he would like to speak with his family without them all being tired and teetering on the threshold of sleep. "At the very least, I heard that today would be a good day for some sun if the rain misses us today."

There were many things that were different about he and Ahura, besides just their upbringing. Their entire identities clashed, Alex was raised to be a King, his first and foremost duty always to his country and his people. Ahura, as far as he could tell, was raised to be a protector and a caretaker to his younger siblings. Similar, but uh, well probably a lot less demanding. Alexios was jealous in reasonable measures, for at least his retainer had a family, people to look after him and care about him. So did he, to some extent, but like how he would be one day, their first duty was not to their son, or themselves, but to their people.

"Are you tiring of my company, Ahura?" The young Prince jested, sitting further up in bed and sliding his legs over the side. There's a small hiss as his bare feet meet the cold stone floor, and he curses his body's refusal to keep socks on while he sleeps. "It's been but a week, the last manservant I had lasted over a month, and he was nearly a bloody mute! I almost went mad with the constant silence, I tell you." Alexios had a bit of a flare for drama, and he was very good at it. If he were just a tad bit less shy, and buckets less bashful.

Finally he stands fully, unashamed of his state of most-undress, and pads over to where his clothes were left out. He shrugs the shirt on and begins to do up the buttons, accidentally missing one and starting to make it uneven, all because he was too busy speaking to his servant again.
"You'll have hours to yourself today, I do not require you to accompany me to the meetings. As long as there is lunch and dinner on my table I have no other tasks for you."

Ahura chuckled at his prince's dramatic retelling of his last manservant. As much as he wasn't used to the pomp and circumstance of living among royalty, he wouldn't say he was tired of it. It was more like he found it...unnecessary to say the least. Then again, his family was the representative of the entire nation and it's people. Even if his kind were often depicted on the seals of families and clans in times of old and current day, at least he wasn't nitpicked by the hungry media at all waking hours.

The sphinx shrugged and chuckled once more.
"I wouldn't say I tired of your presence, Sire. Just something I haven't gotten used to yet." Another buzz from his pocket, more than likely mother asking him if he had eaten breakfast yet or to call her when possible. Ahura made a sort of noise as if confused as he watched Alexios started buttoning up his shirt wrong, prompting him to walk over and help him redo the buttons to that it was even. "I can't let you go out like this, not only would the king have my gold, but my own mother would bap me on the head if I let this pass." Another chuckle and another buzz from his phone as if mother was saying 'I heard that'. "I would say that today would be a bit easier for me today, But part of me knows that this is only the beginning of a long stint if I wanna break the current record." Dexterous hands secured the tie around Alexios's neck, the knot tied in a trinity knot and did very well to make the gold in the tie shine in the might more the normal knot. The sphinx nodded backing off to look him over and nodded again in approval.

"Lunch and Dinner shall be made for you when your return. Would you like dessert as well?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side. At the very least, he should make sure he knew everything he needed before going about his business. And by business, he meant going right back to bed and catching some more hours before lunch.

Alexios dropped his hands obediently when Ahura moved towards him, a smirk already set in place on his very pretty face. Was he truly incapable of dressing himself? No, but was he not allowed to enjoy the perks of being the crown prince? Trying to tie a trinity knot though, that wasn’t going to happen, so it was convenient sometimes to have someone around that was skilled at those certain things. He’s sure Ahura was capable of a lot more than being a manservant, but he was also sure that no other job of his was going to pay as well as being the Prince’s manservant.

The subject of dessert is brought to his attention, and for him it is a much more important decision than anything he would be privy to today in meetings. Chocolate cake, or vanilla? A la carte, or perhaps with berries on the side?
“Surprise me, hm? Prepare two servings as well.” It was Friday after all, and it was the anniversary of his new servants first week. It would be nice to treat him with dessert, and perhaps give him a day off over the weekend. It wasn’t like it had many plans for the next day.

“You should take the day for yourself. Just run down to the kitchen and make them aware that I will be dining in my room, and have them bring it up here.” He slips on a dark colored jacket to tie his outfit together, at least he thinks it does, he was never very good with clothes. That was more the princesses job, anyways, and his future queen would arrange his outfits, surely. “I expect you to serve dessert though.”

Ahura sighed as His Highness walked started to walk out the door in a jacket that completely clashed with the outfit. The future king was hopeless when it came to fashion, but he couldn't let him leave looking like that. Again, his mother would have his mane and he was not about to have his mother calling him up to berate him about seeing the prince in such an outfit. He muttered to himself, watching the jacket glow slightly as the glamour took effect. Now to the human eye, it looked a different color than it actually was. Although he hoped that no one took a picture or the photo would be corrupted. A horrible occurance indeed.

As soon a Alexios was out of sight and earshot, he went about his day for the most part. Shifting into his mid form before going back into his room for a bit of a breather as now he would be unable to sleep again. First updating his mother on how everything was going and the barrage of 'I love yous' and 'Please be safes' as well as describing how his days normally played out at least twice and hearing his little sister swoon before she had to be taken to preschool. It was comforting to know that they were adjusting well after he had left, though he knew he had to call again to check on his little brothers. It was gonna be a long day for the most part at this point.

By close to lunch, he had already wandered into the kitchen back in human form and informed the staff that the prince would be dining in his room today as well as he would be cooking. Neglecting to inform them that he thought their cooking was a tad bland at best. At the very least they knew that he wouldn't be poisoning the crown prince nor burning is insides with spices. However, it was the miniature cakes that would have to be set until dinner. For now, lunch was served on his desk for when he got back. Slices of roasted lamb on a bed of rice and steamed vegetables and a glass of cooled mint tea. Thankfully the plate was heated on it's own since he had written a sigil on the bottom of the plate. For now, a nice round of dark souls was calling him in his room.
