Experiences RPs with original art?

Have you ever been in or seen a RP where all the character references/play-bys or face claims were either commissioned or drawn by the players? It's very niche and I'm not sure how to search for it. Please share any links to threads here if you can!

The closest I've come are at least half of any Nation RP I've ran. Since maps are important for fundamental geography reasons everyone has needed a map. But the ones that I have run or done that have fully original maps were fictional. Otherwise, I've just borrowed Paradox's world maps for anything else

I've seen artist-only RP organized, where not only did they draw their own art but idea of the RP was the RP itself would be done through drawing it. I've seen that happen a couple of times, though only one I recall actually seeing getting off the ground (whether it had any longevity is something I cannot say as I didn't follow it further).

As for how you could search for it, one way would be to make an interest check which specifies such requirements. Aside from that you could search through the art subforum or discussions about the art types people use for faceclaims here in the discussion forums, to find people who make their own art whose own search threads you could check out.

I have sometimes drawn the characters and done fan art comics for my rps before. My muse is so flighty though so I really only ever do it for rps I am REALLY enjoying a lot. Mostly I have a ton of art for the RP i wrote with my wife.

If you're looking for something to read, maybe search OC Tournament on DeviantART? There was a really cool one called Hotel Haven back in the day. For each round, everyone drew a comic of their character fighting their assigned opponent and winning. The one the most judges voted for became canon to the RP.

I've drawn some of the characters in the RP I'm in and want to draw more.

Ive never done anything with maps and environments but i usually will make art for the characters i play as in rps. It started due to my first experience in rp: A roblox MLP game where you could use PNG models as your avatar. I'd make my own avatars to load in with various outfit alts, holding items, etc.

Me and my friend group all grew out of roblox, plus the new chat filter made basic communication almost impossible, but making character art is something i held onto as i went into roleplaying on other platforms. Im certainly not a davinci at it, and i wouldnt even consider it good enough to do comissions or attempt to do it as a living. It helps me create a better attachment to the character than just some random faceclaim. Also allows me to personalize the character more, which i enjoy more than playing as a pre-established character, because i personally worry about doing that character justice and second guess most of my moves as them.

I personally often use OC's I designed and drew, but ONLY for fan roleplays and it's probably the place I find others who also drew/commissioned their characters. Fandom RPs.

i'm getting a wacom intuos pro M 2017 and i can't wait to start doodling my characters and really bring my role play to life which is in two months for my birthday! a lot of the times i even keep these characters even if they're not being used for role plays anymore or whatever corresponding one it would be made for, usually if I actually grown really attached to playing the character or I really like to design i came up with i came up for a role play and making my own little character now even if I don't role-play with them anymore, i've been drawing since a toddler <3

Hi!!

Yeah back in the day we had this GM pair did a RP that had gorgeous grapahic design and with orig art for the charries. They even did headers for the rpers when they posted. Like they even had a small graphics package where you could copy and paste like lines and headings into your posts.

Best part was they din't force anyone to use their code when posting. For CS they would take your app and pretty it up with their own code so like everything looked uniform. The whole vibe and look had like a graphic desgin techno-cyber-alien aesthetic to it. Bruh. So it, legit lit!

Oh! Like my gosh as I'm reading this I forgot about one on rpn. Gm did their own art but not charries. Check it Here!

Yeah, I draw my own characters. Sometimes it takes me awhile to draw/design them, because I come up with so many ideas.

I have never used face claims or animated face claims before, and I probably never will. I tend to role play as my OCs, as well as canon characters from fandoms.
