__zena_project_moon_and_1_more_drawn_by_m_ttl__sample-bfd55e2bea9f695f0ed691007b71254e.jpgSatharial watched Sage mount a defense with amusement. Especially when it only served to bleed off a portion of her attack. Fortunate for him it was enough to shield the rest of his allies that lied beyond him; Karma remained unharmed. Even if he wasn't her chief focus Satharial would have preferred him convulsing, or a stain upon the ground she wasn't picky. As the wave of electricity that acted more like a surge of water than energy fell upon Sage, Satharial felt some grim satisfaction as he screamed in pain. As valiant an act it may have been he was unable to save himself from the brunt of the Adjudicators attack. Falling to the ground in an unconscious steaming pile that made him appear more like a hunk of meat than a human being.

Unfortunately for Satharial she would not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of her work as a final gift from Sage hurtled through the air. She normally wouldn't pay it much mind as at a glance it was far from something that could threaten her, but this particular member of Night Raid had proven himself to be clever and resourceful. So with little fanfare the ball of plant matter met the edge of her Black Lightning Cloak and burned away into nothing, or rather it should have. Instead while it did begin to partially burn the ball burst upon contact with the electricity and spread an obscuring cloud wider than its size would indicate. There was some disappointment in the obscuring of her vision from Sage and Karma along with the chaff that was the other rebels, but it wasn't a situation that truly bothered her. If anything it was a development she was expecting from the Vallian boy. Satharial stood stock still her gaze locked onto the same point she had been observing before. For all intents and purposes she didn't feel human at this moment. She was too still, too unresponsive as if she was waiting for the very world to move her in her stead. For a brief moment a woman like Satharial normally wouldn't entertain. She thought to the almost muttered words she had heard Sage utter before being struck down, "...you're barely alive yourself.". He certainly was too observant for his own good. It seems she isn't the only one who gleamed insights in the heat of battle. Thats right... neither the stars in the night sky, nor the warm light of the sun could offer her any joy. Satharial knew better than anyone how twisted she was. Among humans she was a mutant unable to empathize or be empathized with. But even as a mutant this epoch created there is a happiness meant only for her.

It is with this in mind that she felt the presence of her next victim, as smoke began to obscure all around her. Satharial now stood in a relaxed position with her arms held across her chest. Then a mocking grin spread across her cheeks, as if privy to a joke at another parties expense. And in a way that was exactly the case. As the first kick shot out from the smoke with great speed Satharial tilted her body allowing the physical force to sail just by her. As her attacker was imbued with electricity the strikes did not end there. Becoming a flurry of kickes that aimed for her at incredible speeds. Unfortunately for her attacker Cassidy, Satharial was the last person you wanted to engage with any sort of electric based attacks. With her Teigu's Black Lightning Dominion Cassidy's lightning kicks were reduced to merely their physical power, and that was only thanks to Satharials resistance to electric attacks. Factoring her Teigu's ability to usurp power over electrical energy as a whole Cassidy would be better off just trying to kick her normally.

Thanks to her own enhanced body and her ability to sense the energy within her attackers Teigu Satharial simply stepped to the appropriate positions to avoid the attacks. Normally she would not be able to handle such a flurry with this much ease, but she was so uniquely specialized against this type of opponent that it couldn't have been simpler for her. When her would-be assassin followed up with her short swords thats when Satharial adopted her usual strategy. She looked down upon her opponent and made no movement of interest. Yet Cassidy would find each slash, or stab she made appeared ineffective as the blades never reached her body. Instead being stopped by an application of her Black Lightning Cloak condensing around her body. Just as she had done against Karmas far more effective attempt to kill her. The Adjudicator was quiet but kept her teasing grin. Only when the other rebel dropped from the rooftops and entered the range of her Black Lightning Cloak as he killed an Imperial Soldier did she finally speak up.

"Be prepared." Her words were simple and brief, a shift from how she had acted before in the presence of the other Night Raid members. A change that heralded further proof of the Profane Black Tempest's power. With swiftness and a calm grace Satharial raised a fist, and Black Lightning crackled within and around it. With a flex the electrical field around her solidified, once again becoming perceptible as a golden sheen that summoned sparks of Black Lightning in the air. Then it pushed out all around Satharial changing from a electric field to something more akin the the concussive force of being slammed with a wall. Trading the brunt of the Black Lightnings electrical power that would normally shock it instead battered against her foes like a solid object. Intent on knocking Cassidy and Arden back along with displacing the smoke. Making a perfect circle with Satharial in the center.

She could hardly believe she had managed to join Night Raid, let alone become an assassin. It was not among the careers she thought she was destined for, but what rarely is in this life? She had only been on a handful of missions, and fortunately, her swordsmanship spoke for itself. She was always terrible at endorsing herself since wordplay was never her strong suit. Ume was tasked with sequestering near their escape route, and making sure that their getaway was clean. She wasn't entirely happy with missing out on the action, but since she didn't have a teigu, she'd only be a liability against Jaegers and the like.
She blamed Johan.
Her mentor believed in old fashioned strength training and mastering the fundamentals. It did wonders on her musculature and sword skills, but she couldn't help but feel she lacked something. It was probably one of those cool ass weapons. Ume would continue to think of the potential cool teigu she could find lying around, those noble snobs probably used them to wipe their ass. She knew she couldn't slack, but it felt strange to sit and bide her time. She should be out there, doing something. Johan would give her so much shit if he knew she was left on guard duty. She couldn't help but smile at the thought. That bastard old man always gave her a hard time, but he had been there for her more than her own parents.
The tunnel she was guarding was narrow, barely fifteen feet tall and fifty feet long. Shadows hanging heavy across the dull stone. She dwelled within the shadows at one of the ends, her lithe frame hidden behind the sloped archway. She knew Johan would harp on about her taking this seriously. Ume was always laissez faire with how she went through life, but handled her business when it mattered.

"You cannot get away with playing safe. You wanna get home? Put it all on the line, safety is for those who seek no adventure."
The parting words of Johan rang in her ears, her mentor was an obstinate man, but he understood what it took to do this.
The sound of a resounding roar brought her attention elsewhere momentarily, what the hell was that? It sounded like one of the empire's myths. That lumbering suit of hateful armor, lemille. What the hell was he doing here? If that was the case, then Night Raid must have been found out. It was a stroke of unlikely fortune, however, as she caught movement along the ceiling of the tunnel. Ume focused on the immediate threat, forgoing the distant roar, someone had entered her territory. She calmed her nerves and encroached on the tunnel's entrance, moving slowly around the corner; following what appeared to be another assassin.

She waited for the moment she deemed perfect, striking her target when they they stopped moving. Ume would unsheathe her katana, letting loose a vertical slash with the momentum, returning the blade to it's sheath in one fluid motion. It was something she had practiced for years, making it as simpatico to her body as breathing. Her body reflexively taking the iado stance again. She didn't want to fail such an important mission, even if it was just guard duty. Ume had more to prove than she ever had before; she had no idea where it came from, but something about this group lit a fire in her.

"I don't recognize you which means you're my enemy, I can't let you go any further
" She said, her sheathe gripped in her left hand, raising the sword up to her shoulder as her other hand held the handle tightly; prepared to unleash another strike.

1730367765509.png

Both Arden and Cassidy dodged out of the way just in time.

"Shit!" said Cassidy.

"We need to get out now," said Arden. "Grab Sage." It was apparent they wouldn't be able to do much more against Satharial, especially since many of their attacks were themselves electrical in nature.

Cassidy nodded. "Got it!" Within a second, she had him on her shoulder.

With that, they both started making their way back towards the escape hatch.

1730601603415.png

"Ohoh, I must be in the right place then~" A feminine voice echoed from the shadows, dropping from a higher point onto the ground, standing up with a blade that practically slithered from how the silhouette moved. "No one outside of that band of assassins would notice my approach~... So you're the ones who got caught in the little arena the masters set up... even now I can hear the Behemoth ripping your squad to pieces~..." She said, every word practically a drawl. "I'll present your head to him and gain his approval... then he will see me for the one worthy of his attention, witnessing his carnage firsthand.... but for now, I get to play with you." She said, drawling out her words as she leaned to the side before rushing up towards Ume, her eyes manic as they were illuminated by the moonlight, some fanatic of the "Bloodless Steel Gryphon" Lemille from the way her eyes alit with her words. She used that seemingly sentient blade and slashed forward, the blade following and carving up the walls of the cave, slicing directly towards Ume while she began to shout again.

"I ONCE WALLOWED IN THE SLUMS WITH VERMIN, SETTLING FOR NOTHING MORE THAN CARVING UP THOSE GUTTER RATS FOR MY ENTERTAINMENT. BUT ONCE I HEARD OF THE UNBLEEDING BEHEMOTH, I KNEW I HAD TO SEE HIM MYSELF! YOU WILL BE MY ROAD TO THAT!" She cackled as she lashed her blade back and forth, her insanity shining as so often it did with the servants of the empire, some inhuman obsession with the legendary general. "EVEN THIS BLADE, RIXFLUCT, WAS MADE WITH BUT A DROP OF HIS BLOOD! TO THINK WHAT POWER COULD BE GAINED FROM REMAINING BY HIS SIDE, IT MAKES ME SHUDDER!" She shouted, the blade lashing multiple times from her single swipe of it's hilt, the shimmering blade made of water lashing out multiple times at her will, a cackle echoing as she simply tried to overwhelm Ume with the number of strikes, believing that it would be simple to do so to one who held no Teigu of her own.

Ume was surprised by the level of engagement she received, the otherwise unassuming visage of this woman blighted by a vehement madness she had never seen. It threw her off. She had managed to keep a cool guy vibe up until now, but these sort of freaks gave her the creeps. Of course she had to be a follower of that absolute monster of an empire dog.
"You talk about him like he's here, but it's just me and you; fair odds as I sees it" Her poker face wasn't peerless, but she just needed to buy time to steel her nerves.
This butcher didn't give her the time. Ume leaping back out of the tunnel as it was suddenly filled with bending slashes, this maniac was incredibly fast. It made her respect her allies all the more if this was the level of intensity they were facing. What sort of pretense was nobility showing in hiring such a psycho-. A blade of water swiped across her mid section and caused her to seethe through her teeth. Ume forced her body to bend, sliding underneath the initial attack and attempting to regain her equilibrium; She spun around and exposed her back; the dragon tattoos across her it transformed into dragon scale.
Ume couldn't understand what it was, but the scales just felt like another muscle to flex. She didn't know why they were connected to her back tattoos, though she couldn't remember how she got those either. Her scales taking the brunt of the psycho's slashes, but two of them carved into her back.

""Ill never understand how the empire accepts the likes of you into their ranks, it disgusts me. How many good people have you trampled on? you know what? it doesn't matter...The only road im going to be for you, is a dead end"

Ume took her chance, teigu users were always overconfident against people like her, but all it took was a single stance.
She repeated her same stance from earlier, maintaining the distance between them. Ume didn't have time to get close before another flurry of those attacks rained down on her. She raised her sheathe up to her shoulder and grabbed the hilt with her other hand; she sucked in a breathe before trying a risky gamble and unsheathing her blade with the same Iado technique engrained into her calloused hands. Ume launched at the butcher with an attack, attempting to close the distance with the edge of her blade and slash the butcher across her midsection.

The Riverside Butcher began to cackle when she saw the blade striking at Ume's back, unnoticing of the scales protecting her back. "HE IS ALWAYS WITH ME! THIS BLADE WAS ENCHANTED WITH HIS VERY ESSENCE, AND IT CHOSE ME AS THE ONE WORTHY OF HOLDING IT!" She shouted out, the sword lashing once more, only for Ume to slide beneath it and take her stance, the Butcher trying to bring the blade back to herself to defend, but the water was too slow to get there in time to stop the blade from raking across her mid section, a small amount of blood splurting from her lips, as she began to glare as the blade finally returned, her eyes glaring at Ume. "H-HOW DARE YOU YOU LITTLE WRETCH!" She screamed, her blade coming to her side as she took the flat side, putting it close to the wound and letting her blood meld with the water, a sickly smile appearing on her lips as she wielded the now red blade. "TO SEE MY ESSENCE FUSED WITH HIS VESTIGE, IT IS MORE THAN ANY DESERVE, AND YET IT IS HOW I WILL STRIKE YOU DOWN!" She screamed, bringing the water blade forward again for it to begin lashing at her once more, this time keeping the range shortened after learning Ume could slip through if it was too extended

There was going to be no getting through to this lunatic, the way she spoke about her blade made her wonder if Teigu were really that special. She had partially listened to most of what Johan had explained about them, but she was obstinate against using empire tools, she was paying for that. She was outclassed in a battle of weaponry, but with the bleeding wound The Butcher suffered, at least her katana wasn't letting her down.

She had pushed her luck thinking that.

Her enemy adapted and infused her own blood into the watery weapon; would that change the nature of her attacks? It unnerved her that such extremes could act as a performance enhancer. Would she had to tear herself apart to keep up with her allies? It was daunting thought, but it was one she couldn't entertain in the moment. Ume was far too closely engaged to dodge a point blank slash; blocking with the flat end of her katana. A blast of metallic shards erupted between them as Ume's sword shattered against the force. The sound of a hilt clattering to floor followed, Ume's sword hand shaky and bloody as shellshock rocked her body.

Ume could hardly believe how outclassed her weaponry had been; she didn't even get a chance to hold her ground. The sword buckled with hardly any resistance. She tried to back up quickly, but found a wall meeting her in return. She was against the tunnel wall; her find flared with ideas, but all of them felt like they'd end in her death, sliding down the wall. The damned psychopath stalking closer, what the hell was she going to do?

"NOW YOU FALL!" She cackled the moment the blade broke into pieces and fell from Ume's hand, lashing with the sword even more to press the woman against the wall of the cavern. Once a substantial number of slashes were made around her to lock her into one point of the caves wall, she drew her blade back to the shape of a machete, her eyes practically gleaming in the darkness. She began to take a position, before lashing towards Ume with the full force of the machete.

Only... she didn't.

There was the sound of a clack, as the hilt hit the stone of the cave, the energy of the attack exploding through the stone up into the city above, the pressurized water flashing through a zone of the city, carving buildings clean into pieces with the sheer energy of the water, as the butcher pulled back the hilt, staring at it in her hand. The water blade was completely gone, her hand shaking as she tried to will it back into existence. "W-What.... WHAT HAPPENED?!" She screamed, trying to hold the hilt in her hand and shake it around to get the blade to come back out, as it had gone inert with her last attack.

Iwai & Lemille & Yamori

OIP (3).jpg

Iwai was surprised by Lemilles willingness to leave, he must not have realized he was in the den of the enemy after all. Then surely this was a man to be feared, so powerful and with such instinct that he could walk into the enemies' hands without knowing and not worry in the least. Iwai truly couldn’t help admiring him, if only he wasn’t a weapon for the imperials. Iwai turned towards the owner of the establishment with a nod before heading out after Lemille. Iwai paced behind Lemille, his hand on the hilt of his katana as he watched him carefully.” So you are the legendary Lemille, yes? I’m afraid I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you in person until this point. Although I’ve heard many tales of your great feats, before we continue let me ask you something. Is there perhaps a path where you fight against the villainy of the Empire alongside Night Raid, or even a path where you choose a route that doesn’t end in violence?” Iwai was no coward, but if he could avoid a fight, especially with one as strong as Lemille, he would have preferred it. “If you are adamant about us battling, and your stance in this war, then I will not complain, but I’m afraid against you, I may just need to give my all.” He warned and with quick motion he drew his Katana, revealing most likely to the confusion of Lemille a wooden practice sword.

Lemille turned slowly, internally his eyes wide as he wondered if this guy was for real. He couldn’t just up and leave the empire for the rebels, especially when they’d start relying on him and that was sure to reveal him as a coward. And then what would he have? An empire he betrayed, no matter how much they might deserve it with the evil people in charge, and a group who realized he’s actually just as pathetic as he knows himself to be? That wouldn’t work. But maybe he could try to explain that in a way where he still wouldn’t die against this guy. “I detest war and violence of all kinds. But sometimes one acts for something they care about more than themselves.” He said, trying to explain his stance without lying, as his village’s greatest taboo was to tell a lie. He knew that if he left his village would absolutely be on the chopping block, and he hoped this guy understood that.

“For people to fight for something they care about enough to rebel and even die against an overwhelming force. I should believe we hear them out, such a cause can surely not be baseless. But those with hands that reach farther than mine disallow such.” He said, trying to explain that he couldn’t listen to much more of the man talking or else his village may die anyway, trying to walk away, but as he did, his foot slipped on a beam that fell from Sage’s earlier tree attack, the smoke covered falter making his sword slip from his hip, his eyes widening as he tried to reach for it, fumbling around in a way covered by the smoke still lingering in the alleyway as he finally got a solid grip, forcibly placing it against his hip with one hand on the hilt and the other on the sheathe. However, when his foot finally planted after his stumble, the smoke that was previously clouding his steps exploded outward with a rush of his aura, his body now facing the bar with his aura overflow, singing the wood around him as he froze, looking at the people still in the bar. Of course, to those looking on at him, they’d see the demon of the empire in a combat ready stance, not striking yet as it was known that there was nothing the “Slaughter Dragon” valued more than Honor.

Iwai nodded his head in understanding,” I understand, so you hold strong convictions. I would expect no less from you. So this shall be a battle of wills then. I do hope I’m not forced to kill you, I detest such violence, and you seem like someone that could sway the wills of the Empire if given the chance. May we meet again someday in more peaceful times, perhaps as friends.” Having finished his thought Iwai took no time for Lemille to answer, in one quick movement the giant was that Lemille would find the entire world flipping upside down and then it would seem to begin getting more distant as if it was running away from him, however in actuality it was Lemille who had been flipped upside down and sent flying by a judo style flip delivered by Iwai.”Now lets test that conviction of yours!” Iwai roared at the figure of Lemille flying over the buildings of the Palace City. Iwai then leapt high into the air, almost seeming to fly after the figure of Lemille. He knew his flipped while impressive would not do much to slow down Lemille, but he wanted to get him further away from the bar, and closer to the action between Night Raid and his own troops in hopes of potentially assisting them in battle.

Lemille was confused for a moment as the world flipped upside down, before he began to feel his gut sink like he was free falling, seeing the city beneath him. His eyes widened, as he immediately began to scream in the air, his voice letting out that famous Behemoth Rumble as his Aura began to cover the sky, tainting the night sky a blackish red, showing where he got the nickname Northern Comet. As Iwai chased after him, a sudden pain shot through several points of his body, multiple limbs nearly falling off him as well as his own body becoming barely a thread from being bisected in a moment as the buildings around them also began to fall apart, like they had all been sliced at once. Another display of the beast of a man's power, as he was able to carve the area around them without even the trained eye of Iwai seeing him draw the sword, the aura heating the air as they flew through the air.

Iwai had his eyes focused on Lemille as they went into the air, but even he couldn’t see his movement, only the sudden overwhelming bloodlust gave him any time to defend against the sudden attack. Of course, the attack still delivered massive damage to him. The damage sustained would have been lethal to anyone else but thanks to his Teigu he would survive. It wouldn’t be long after that Lemille would find himself crashing down to the pavement right in the middle of the fight between Sage, and Satharial as well as the other members of both Night Raid, and the Empire. Then Iwai landed as well seemingly fine until he stood up, his blood dripping on the ground revealing how seriously wounded he was, “Urg-I wasn’t expecting such a ferocious attack whilst in midair. You aren’t feared as a monster for nothing. Truly I will need to be on my toes with you.” He said to Lemille picking up his severed arm which had finally parted ways with his body after landing and the last thread of flesh tearing off. He held it to his body, and focused his life energy glowing a beautiful shade of green as the flesh all around his body began to reknit itself together.

Lemille watched as this guy put himself together from whatever the hell happened, with Lemille knowing he didn’t do anything about that, but once again the credit was going to him. The dust from his landing, which he was awfully shocked happened without him getting injured, but luckily, he landed in a box of soft ash, so it cushioned his landing quite well, though his silhouette was illuminated in the ash by his aura, making it look like he was standing the midst of a burning fire.

Iwai turned towards the other members of Night Raid with the same kind smile he always displayed resting on his face, an expression very contrary to his torn up appearance,” Ah I see you and Karma are still alive. Excellent to know, we should retreat before too many of our forces are taken down. I will hold off these individuals so try your best to aid in the escape.” Iwai commanded as his body finally settled itself back into its original form again, albeit with a few new scars. Meanwhile back at the tavern they had left, Yamori had decided to have a little fun before following after. As soon as Lemille, and the swordsman had exited the establishment he began cutting down patrons of the tavern in quick succession. The attack only lasted for a few seconds, but it was long enough for a pile of bodies to build up, and his homicidal urges to be temporarily sated. He happily snuck out of the establishment before anyone could piece together what had happened, they'd probably pin it on Lemille or something. "Oh, he must have just been pretending to not know it was a Night Raid establishment, and cut us down so fast we didn't realize it!"

Ume Rishagi
Ume saw her life flash before her eyes; a short one with far too many unfulfilled desires. She didn't know whether it was the blood loss or facing her mortality, but she remembered something strange. A memory before her parents, something that perturbed her. A hazy patched together vision of her home's front door with a massive shadow skulking away, glinting like scaled in the sun before it vanished.

Her eyes instinctually closed as the sword raised, cursing her weakness and apologizing to Johan for wasting his time with a lout like her.

The sound of debris and eruptions caused her to snap her eyes open with surprise; The butcher's words further confusing as it seemed she was surprised with this outcome. Was that her sword? what the hell was that? She couldn't explain it but her sword either malfunctioned or used too much energy, either way it was window she couldn't survive missing.

Ume snatched a shard of her blade off the floor and lunged forward, she was on her the moment she was focused on activating her sword. The lithe girl becoming savage as her survival instincts took over; fear and desperation changing into anger and hatred as she plunged the shard into the butcher's clavicle, repeatedly stabbing it into her with manic ferocity, holding nothing back.

Sage Vallian
1729317254122.png
Sage slowly gasped to life as he felt a renewal of energy, drawing him out of a fog like haze brought on by the shock he received, as the vision of the alleyway around him began to clear up. He adjusted his now cracked glasses, trying to weakly push himself up once he realized the battle was still happening. He heard the trailing words of of Karma, coughing a moment as he tried to look around, seeing Arden and Cassidy trying to fight Sathariel. He tried to eek out some kind of warning to them, seeing that they were getting close to her, knowing full well what her destructive aura could do, before he saw the order to retreat come out. He was quickly swept up by Arden, coughing as he focused what little energy he had into his Teigu, Wenningarfel revealing several sharp burs in his hand.

He threw them behind his retreating team, the burs slowly growing when they hit the ground. They were prepped to burst, a type of natural explosive created by nature. It was a fusion he made of Burs, Pinecones, and the Sandbox Fruit, a fruit that spread its seeds by violently exploding whenever a ripened fruit came into contact with any particular force, like a natural landmine. Would these have any effect whatsoever against Sathariels aura? Absolutely not, if he put the flame retardant properties of any other plant into them, it would nullify the effects of the explosive force of the Sandbox fruit, but, it would perhaps play into the fact he had gotten around it twice before to slow her down enough with caution, essentially bluffing that these would too, even though her aura would burn away the plants long before they even touched her beautifu-... her sadistic face.

"T-Thank you..." He coughed out weakly to Karma, trying to thank him for the healing. However, that was before the worst case scenario happened. In what felt like mere seconds, there was an explosion of ash and dust, as the horrific silhouette of Lemille appeared in the alleyway, glowing red with that hateful aura he was always covered with. And not only that, Iwai was there as well, a soft hope from his presence, but it seemed not even he was enough against that Monster, as he was covered in blood and horrific wounds, which luckily enough his Teigu seemed to heal.

Axel "Karma" Graves
----
Things were going more or less as Karma expected. He didn't believe Cassidy and Arden's joint attack effort would be enough to pierce through the Black Flash's pristine defense, and he was right. With a raise of her fist, she summoned black lightning from the air and released it like a wave that shot out at her surroundings, threatening to blow back Cassidy and Arden while dispersing the smokescreen around her.

Karma loomed over the situation from the rooftops, overlooking the situation unfolding below from above. He watched as Lemille crashed into the alleyway in an explosion of ash and dust, his silhouette emerging from a cloud of ash with an aura that made it look like he was walking amidst flames "Fucking great, just great.." he muttered under his breath to himself, as if the Black Flash wasn't already enough why not add back the Demon General. Karma's work was truly never finished, but the sight of a powerful ally did give him some relief.

Iwai appeared alongside Lemille, and it seemed that whilst Karma had been trying to escape the pursuing forces of the Empire it was Iwai holding off the Demon General from advancing upon them. He was looking in a really bad way, all torn up and having to re-attach a part of his arm, of course, this wasn't exactly an unusual sight for Iwai - Karma was well aware of the regenerative abilities Iwai's Teigu was capable of. Seeing that now he had some backup, Karma leapt down from the rooftops to join Iwai's side, nodding in approval of his statement about retreat "It's about time someone showed up, this whole thing has been a fuckup from the start, you really think you can hold em off on your own?" Karma side-eyed Iwai for a moment, his eyes looking over the reattached arm of Iwai and the subtle change in skin pigment where he healed a portion of his torso. before letting out a sigh "Alright, I'll leave it to you then, watch yourself out there Iwai." he said before taking out the remaining smoke bombs he had left, all connected by a string that he pulled out from his coat and rolled onto the ground beneath them. He'd then look over to Arden & Cassidy who were currently holding Sage "We need to split up their forces, you two know what to do." he said vaguely, knowing that the two of them would know exactly what he had meant by his words. It was time to throw off the Imperial Forces for good and fall back into obscurity - away from the Palace City.

Laying down a thick smokescreen around them with the remaining smoke grenades he had left on his person, Karma wasted no time in making his escape. Whilst Arden & Cassidy would be aiming to distract one portion of imperial forces, Karma would create his diversion by firing random shots of energy beams into the sky every six seconds creating a sort of signal flare alongside a large BANG to draw attention, and then using his grapplehook to quickly scale across buildings and rooftops in a sort of zig-zagging motion as an attempt to keep his movements unpredictable.

Cassidy looked at Lemille and Satharial. "You know," she started with a casual tone, "I really don't like you guys." Then she looked at Sage, still slung on her back. "Not to worry, we'll get ya outta here yet," she whispered. "Dunno how yet, but don't worry your pretty little head about that, 'kay?"

With Karma's direction, the next step became clear. Arden went in a random direction – which happened to be northwest. He darted toward a nearby building, using the terrain to his advantage. He leapt onto a ledge, then a rooftop.

Cassidy, on the other hand, went even faster southeast, into a side alley, although not so fast as to give Sage whiplash. Her movements were as silent as she could make them.

b5e05ba66e91aea07e0e569b8a3cd7d9.jpgHer fist was raised to the sky, and upon that moment she was alone on the battlefield. A veritable "eye of the storm". The power of her Teigu scoured the area around her. Leaving it seemingly untouched, yet not even a trace of dust remained where her attack had passed. Yet fortunately for her quarry they managed to avoid the worst of it. A fact that their hunter barely paid mind too. Satharial steadily lowered her arm before it disappeared within the dark of her cloak. She stared down at Cassidy and Arden as they scrambled to escape. Their path most likely leading to the source that led Night Raid to believe they could even consider an operation within the city. Any competent terrorist organization either had the sense to die upon completing their objectives... or an escape route.

Satharial cold smile grew a fraction more as she raised a single finger. Black Lightning began to spark upon that finger as her Teigu rings glowed with power. The energy coalesced into a paradoxically viscous form of Black Lightning. Nonchalantly as if flicking away a piece of trash It leaped from her finger and landed on the ground appearing like a tiny barely noticeable blob of plasma. Hidden, it then shot along the ground smoothly gliding directly on the route Cassidy and Arden would be going. Tracking their energy especially that of the female rebels Teigu. This too is how power can be leveraged. Sathrarials grand displays were just that, displays. She was an Assassin after all.

With that the Adjudicator cloaked in black and gold calmly walked forward making no particular hurry to follow the members of Night Raid. Turning away from the depths of the alleyway, she again gazed upon the form of the once heir to house Vallian. But rather than a unconscious, pitiable figure on the ground he was now a quite conscious pitiable figure. With narrowed eyes her dark pupils slowly swept from left to right taking in the scene before her, noticing the absence of Karma. The boys current state was most likely due to him. Satharial saw how Arden and Cassidy were running to him; trying to help their comrade escape. Their struggle arousing a pleased expression from her. Seeing her approach much like a specter of death, Sage made his desperate act
"It is rather uncouth to interrupt, especially when we were having such a pleasant conversation before." Satharial rewarded his efforts by paying them no mind at all. She knew not to fully underestimate the boys abilities but she had been taken by surprise before, without that element their was little he could do. His traps exploded as meant to, their spines sharpened by natures forces shooting through the air. Yet no one so much as reached Satharial, powerless before her defense as they were. Worse yet they did not slow her down by even an inch. All eyes were on her as she approached, such that no one would likely notice the little blob of Black Lightning attach itself to Sages clothes. She would lose her ability to sense it should it grow too far, but a direction was just as well.

It was then that the situation changed irrevocably. A loud crash rang out and kicked debris and dust into the air obscuring the field for a moment. Even Satharial was stunned for a brief moment as she tried to understand what caused this. As the obfuscating dust cleared it revealed two forms. A rough almost downtrodden looking member of Night Raid who upon a single glance Satharial recognized. The Immovable Blade of the Revolutionary Army Iwai, a figure who even Adjudicators were wary of facing alone unless utterly prepared for any outcome that may arise from the encounter. Despite that infamy within the Empire, he now stood worn down and bleeding thought sill standing tall befitting his moniker. And the figure opposite to him was the Demon General Lemille. Satharial had all but forgotten him as she got swept up in the battle. His absence was suitably explained and he was no doubt holding off the Immovable Blade from joining the battle only for their clash to bring them here. Seeing the General whose name was awash with rumors standing against his foe bathed in a fiery red aura. She began to see him in a new light as the rumors were proved to be more than just that. As Karma leaped down from a rooftop joining Iwai's side, Satharial walked till she stood as Lemilles. With a chilling smile she regarded their opposition with her arms crossed under bosom relaxed.

"Quite the harvest you have sown here General." Satharial offered something of a compliment, in that tone which lacked sweetness or mirth despite the joy present within. It was then that Karma seemed to revaluate their strategy and istead launched smoke bombs attempting to escape with what remained of Night Raid. "You rebels seem to be under the impression that the Empire stole your ordinary and humble happiness. Yet, despite claiming to see and fight for the suffering of others you are just as vulnerable as those you claim to be blind to that suffering." Satharial swept her hand as the smoke blocked their vision solidifying the Black Lightning as she had done before carving a circular space in front of them pushing the smoke away allowing them to see. "Such contradiction is what gave rise to this conflict. The Empire alone has the strength to cast its gaze forward to the future, rather than linger on what lies in front of it." She continued to speak as if trying to lecture the member of Night Raid. Claiming the Empire holding greater meaning than their flawed ideals which only saw the now. Despite her words Satharials thoughts truly lied elsewhere as she watched the rebels scramble to escape. As she could clearly sense where Sage was going she instead raised a hand towards Karma who was attempting to grapple away. The Adjudicator then would raise her hand and try to invoke the same power from when the battle began. Her Teigu would brightly glow before her hand shot out the Black Lightning in the force of a crackling lance that split off into multiple smaller instances which writhed like snakes trying to strike Karma.

Iwai The Immovable Blade

Karma didn't take long to join Iwai upon his descent from the sky ," I am not called the Immovable blade for nothing Karma. If there is one thing I am capable of its drawing out a fight. But I don't plan on doing that either. I brought something special from home just for such an occasion, tis a shame I find myself having to use them now. I have such a hard time resupplying them. It may yet be another year before I can acquire more." Iwai body had managed to fully recover in the time he shared these thoughts with Karma. His arm regaining its full mobility, and his cuts had all closed. he simply nodded to Karma, knowing he could rely on him to get the others out safe while Iwai held off their pursuing foes. Satharial, the Black Flash, with her here they never had a chance of actually taking down their target. The Empire was getting more aggressive it seemed. Iwai took it as a sign that Night Raid must have been causing them quite a bit of trouble if they went to all this bother to set them up. Of course, the fact they got setup meant that there was a rat somewhere in their information network. It wasn't unheard of obviously. Information gathering can be tricky, sometimes your sources get found out and they resort to anything to not end up beheaded in town sqaure. Other times they spill their guts, and still end up being setup as an example, and then you just have those who can be bought without much hassle. " Truly an ugly business." He unintentionally stated outloud before realizing he had been so deeply in thought. It was a habit he needed to be more careful of, especially when such strong foes stood before him. Luckily the Black Flash took this moment to also go off on her own little tangent about the empire being strong and Night Raid being weak, followed by smoke going off, and then her shooting out black lightning. " I would love to stand here all night and debate politics and ideologies with you, but I'm afraid you just don't seem that reasonable. Luckily I have something for your type." Suddenly Iwai's previously removed left arm shot into a pouch on his side and he tossed out a handful of seeds glowing with life energy he himself had infused them with, then almost instantaneously bronze reeds of Bamboo shot up from the ground drawing the black lightning to it. Then within his next movement Iwai drew his wooden katana and slashed through the wall of copper bamboo he had grown then kicked them towards Lemille, and Satharial turning his defensive wall into a volley of copper lightning infused spears.

The riverside butcher was too confused at her weapon ceasing it's function to defend against the shard of sword suddenly driven into her neck multiple times, the woman gurgling on her own blood as she desperately clawed around to try and activate her teigu, but even in her dying moments, it seemed she was not scared or angry of Ume for stabbing her, but her fear was entirely directed at the Teigu in her hand. It had ceased it's function, which made her mind race that her great master Lemille had deemed her unworthy of wielding it. The manifestation of her madness and mania revealing itself in the shape of the water seeping out of the hilt, changing it's shape to a silhouette of Lemille, walking away from her as she died. Lemille himself of course had no idea or part in this, it was purely just her lunacy and obsession taking form through the malleable form of the hilt. Not that Ume would know this of course, as the butcher finally died as the life drained from her eyes

Axel "Karma" Graves
----

Thanks to the timely arrival and fast thinking of the Immovable Blade Iwai Otahabei, Karma's escape plan went unimpeded by Black Flash's continued attempts to rise higher on Karma's long list of shitheads he needs to punish. He successfully zipped across the rooftops with the aid of his grapplehook, and used his Teigu as a signal flare for anyone in the area by firing crimson red beams of light into the sky Signalling to any straggling Night Raid members that the fallback escape plan was underway; it also acted a lure gathering the attention of any enemy patrols in the area.

Karma wanted to ensure that their fallback escape route remained clear from any imperial presence, and so his intention in luring the other guards to him was to lead them as far away as possible from Night Raid's true destination. He would take to the streets, continuously shooting loud blasts of red light into the sky and leading his pursuers down streets and into alleyways until he eventually found himself 'cornered' at a dead-end.

The guards surrounded him with weapons drawn "Halt! There is nowhere left to run, drop your weapons and submit yourself to the Empire!" one of the guards commanded with confidence, while another far less confident and nervous-looking guard spoke up adding "Y-yeah! You guys have caused enough trouble already, so why don't you just turn yourself in!? Do you rebels know nothing but bloodshed?" and the guard beside elbowed him in the arm and shushed him "Don't make us look weak, idiot!" his sights set sternly on Karma "Stand down rebel! There is no escape, we will not hesitate to use lethal force if you resist!"

Unmoved Karma responded in the only way he knew how "When this is all over, I want you all to ask yourself this: is fate getting what you deserve, or deserving what you get?" he said coldly and at the same instance rose his karmic armament and fired at the forces before him. Once again a large concussive BANG reverberated throughout the alleyway followed by a temporarily blinding flash of crimson light.

"AAAGGH!" "NOOOO!!!"
"WHAAGGH!!!"

All the guards cried out in agony and fear, but after a passing moment their eyes would adjust back to reality and they would all find themselves utterly unscathed by what just transpired. "Huh? I'm alive!?" "I didn't feel anything" "What the hell just happened!? Hey! Where did he go!?!"

The guards were left in utter befuddlement while Karma was already far away from the scene and making his way to the escape tunnel reserved for their fallback plan.

Ume Rishagi
She had fought all her life, yet this was the first time she had ever actually killed someone. It was a sickening feeling, and felt something of herself die alongside the butcher. She was breathing heavily, leaving the blade shard buried in the mad woman's neck as she tried to wipe the blood from her face, stumbling to her feet as she caught her breath. Ume felt pain across her midsection and her hand was on fire, but she was alive at the very least.

She just couldn't figure out why.

"You had me dead to rights...you crazy bitch, what happened?" She knew not to take for granted a momentary opportunity to shift things in her favor, but it was like the butcher's sword rebelled against her. It was something more than just hesitation. Ume didn't quite understand, but knew it was because of it's nature. The Teigu was a mystery, and it was something she felt obligated to take. Ume lowered herself back down to the corpse of her enemy, and pulled the hilt from stiffened fingers.

It felt awfully light, almost like she were wielding a bokken. Ume surprised as it's shape altered to that of a katana; A weapon she was well versed with. Water flowed out into a long single edged blade, creating an entirely different Rixfluct for her to wield. Ume started to understand what made these Imperial Arms so worthwhile; She felt uneasy about taking up the arms of a psychopath, but also came to realize that the butcher didn't respect her weapon.

The sound of a resounding BANG broke her contemplative train of thought, focusing instead on where the sound came from. Ume had no idea how long her allies had been fighting in the city, but things sounded like they were going to hell out there. She could only hope it was the empire getting their asses kicked. It was strange, however, since she could also hear the sound of water clattering to the floor. Ume was never one to distinguish sounds to that degree, but she wondered if it had something to do with Rixfluct.

The sound of footsteps sent her skulking back to the shadows, but it was difficult to try and completely hide herself due to her wounds. A moment of worry and silence waning when Ume caught a glimpse of the familiar red garb one of her allies often adorns. "K...Karma?" She breathed out in surprise. She couldn't have been more relieved to see an ally for once.

"I'm so glad to see a friendly face! I uh....defended the tunnel" Ume peered out from her shrouded perch, pointing out the body of the infamous butcher "It wasn't easy, got banged up pretty bad; She was obsessed with Lemille" Ume found difficulty in making sense of it all, wincing as she stood up. "I took her weapon since she broke mine, She called it Rixfluct." Ume got an excited air about her as she hobbled up to Axel, showing him the weapon.

"It was strange though, she did something it didn't seem to like and completely misfired-" Ume pointing up toward the slash in the ceiling of the tunnel, pierced all the way through. "Do you think that means it's faulty? She broke my katana and when I picked it up...it changed into one so I feel like I should keep it" She was mystified, her preconception of these weapons being challenged.

"The Unscratched Demon General" Lemille Lemillied
1729240702448.png
Lemille was reeling from the fall, his eyes still spinning as he took the most careful steps he could through this miasma of ash and smoke. To those around him, it would seem like a slow and confident gait, he was not moving fast because he felt no need to do such. Even with the state Iwai was in, Lemille maintained his nickname of the "Unscratched Demon General", as the armor he wore had not even been scratched, and his cloth remained untorn. Thankfully, his helmet was fine enough to filter out most of the ash, but he still saw the horrid clash before his eyes between night raid and the imperial forces. Right back where he started. Damnit. He was thinking of trying to use the smoke as a screen to escape again, but then that electric woman he saw earlier cleared it all with electricity or something. He saw her saying his rumors were true, turning to her slowly as he forced his body to move even that much. He saw the burs and everything around her burn away, glancing over at her slowly.

"Don't get too close." He said, trying his best to get her to realize he wasn't gonna be able to handle that electricty as soon as he could. However, due to his sword and reputation, the meaning of the phrase could be taken any way, as he took a few steps back against the wall. He was simply trying to get away from her, but from the outside, it looked like a perfect and casual prediction of Iwai's attack, as the bamboo shoots flew past the casually leaning Lemille. Internally, he hadn't moved yet again because he was too scared to, as if any of those had hit him... well he didn't like to imagine the size of the hole that would be in him.

__zena_project_moon_and_1_more_drawn_by_nishikujic__7ed0ffd5644845dbe54456c0f4360d73.jpgSatharials hollow eyes stared into Iwai, the Immovable Blade of the Rebellion. He dismissed her words quickly not willing to enter into her game of rhetoric. In truth she cared just as much for the words she spoke as Iwai likely did, and unfortunately they would serve no purpose to her in this encounter. Her enemy was not Karma with his volatile nature, or the young Vallian boy with his youthful inexperience. No, this was an enemy where no trappings were necessary. The Adjudicator shifted her eyes to General Lemille meeting his helmeted gaze as he spoke to her. His words were curt, and unsurprising considering his power. He likely believed her presence was unnecessary with him here. Some of the lesser Imperial forces believed the General possessed some sort of honor or moral code, but Satharial believed differently. His only beliefs were in power and self interest, they had to be. Because from the stories she heard and the short yet poignant moments she had observed him told her one thing. General Lemille was like her. He had to be, it was the most logical conclusion she had reached.

"If that is your desire. Then I shall provide, 'support'." Satharial tried to swiftly make her move to intercept Karma before Iwai truly engaged them in combat. Her lances of Black Lightning surging through the air toward his figure in the distance. It was then that the Immovable Blade mounted the unerring defensive style he was known for. With a brilliant combination born of years of experience the rebel used both seeds and the Teigu within his hands to grow a sudden veritable forest of bamboo intercepting Satharials attack. It was needless to even consider that Imperial Arm, its reputation preceded itself. The "Branch of Life" was potent and one of the oldest of the Teigu crafted by the first emperor. And it had no weakness Satharial was privy too save for the potential cost it could exact on its wielder. Save for that it made whoever wielded it nigh unkillable. Satharial knew she could not find the same joy she sought to extract from Sage in this battle, as even she in most projections lost the battle against Iwai. But the slightest chance, even a glimmer of the opportunity to sink such a star as the Immovable Blade was alluring.

With another swift movement Iwai cut down the lightning infused special bamboo, and without a waste of movement launched them at Satharial and Lemille. Her gaze remained unbothered but a smirk once again graced her frigidly beautiful features. She knew what the General had told her, but if he was like her then surely he would understand her own nature not allowing her to be so passive in this situation. Not when it was so thrilling. The woman who haunted the rebel army with the monikor " Black Flash" raised her hand, palm facing the ground. Then quickly brought it down as if to smash a fly from the air to the ground. The Black Lightning infused bamboo were not just energy but her own Teigus power. Nothing else was so simply for her to dominate, though she could not use them truly against Iwai in the same way she could cease their movement. The bamboo momentum was suddenly halted as they slammed down into the ground. Any remaining energy quickly dissipating into the ground returning them to a normal state.

"No such nuisances will interrupt your battle General. My apologies for not introducing myself sooner; you may know me as Satharial. I have been assigned as your subordinate for the foreseeable future in the interest of bringing an end to Night Raid. May this be a fruitful relationship." Satharial surprisingly enough took this moment to introduce herself in a rather polite manner to Lemille. Showcasing that trademark arrogant and unreserved nature, as if the midst of battle was a suitable place for such things. "Now this is strife will have to resume soon enough..." With that she returned her attention to the battlefield her hands crackling threateningly with electricity though she made no move. Allowing the General to act upon his own desires without interruption just as she said would be the case.

There was such a commotion outside. Lightning crackling and firing, what sounded like bark splintering and breaking with resounding creaks and cracks, Sage screaming in agony, more people screaming in agony but further away...

And the juxtaposition of seeing this Demon General sit there and sip on some orange juice was... Strangely eerie. Atsuhiro had made sure - subtly - that the orange juice went to Lemille untainted with any poison. Being the Demon General, he was likely already immune to poisons or could tell the difference, so he didn't want the bar to get destroyed just because of some rash attempt at poisoning the demon.

Atsuhiro gave a chuckle and left the back of the bar to sit a few stools away from Lemille. "Well, uh... That's good that we shouldn't fear you, but uh... You're the Demon General. It's hard for normal folk to see you and not shake in their boots, even if you are on our side." Atsuhiro tried his best to make himself - and the bar by extension - not suspicious.

When Lemille said he was going to be heading back soon, Atsuhiro felt relief flood his system. His attempts worked! They really really worked!!

When Lemille asked if the orange juice was 'half-and-half', the bartender and Atsuhiro feigned confusion, with the bartender speaking with a confused tone. "Uh... Pardon my confusion, but what do you mean half-and-half? Like pulp?" His confusion sounded genuine, partly because the bartender actually forgot the code word for poisoned drink in his fear.

That was when Iwai entered, and Atsuhiro kept his mouth shut.

He gulped, and got nervous. Ah... Would Iwai think he was being too chummy with the Demon General and think him suspicious? He's not usually at the Night Raid base anyway, it's normal for spies like him to be seen as the first suspects. Still, he watched the interaction between Lemille and Iwai with bated breath, as Iwai spewed sarcastic remarks.

The glass cup shattered and it spooked the bartender and Atsuhiro, who jumped slightly. In fact, it made some of the customers jump, as well. It was strange that the Demon General left after saying there were too many people. Was he actually concerned for those here, or was he saying that he was just too strong anyway and they'll just die?

Either way, both Iwai and Lemille left the bar, and Atsuhiro did not dare to watch through the windows what was happening. He did hear of some of their exchange outside, but that was when Atsuhiro noticed some of the people dropping like flies. Some of the people who were spared had hidden themselves from Yamori's invisible attack, and the only other people who were untouched was the bartender and Atsuhiro. With frightened eyes, Atsuhiro just shaily sipped his drink, trying not to shit himself, even as he heard a heavy thump resonate from the alleyway, gunshots that got further and further away, electricity firing, and some noise like something cutting something hard.

This... This was really a hectic day. With a heavy heart, Atsuhiro went to inspect the pile of bodies. Some of the ones who were killed weren't Night Raid members, but were regulars of the bar. He sighed, scratching the back of his head as his somber gaze passed over the near peaceful faces of those he recognized. "Awe, man..."

At least he can be rest assured that this aimless killing wasn't because people knew that this place wasn't Night Raid operated, but because the Demon General was just a sick son of a bitch...

But he left... Why would this happen right after the Demon General left?

It didn't make much sense, and Atsuhiro didn't really follow rumors without seeing it for himself. When he heard that the Demon General detested violence and war when speaking to Iwai outside of the bar, which meant he would only kill when necessary. If some of those who were killed here weren't a part of Night Raid and the Demon General wasn't lying (why would he, he's the strongest thing there is), then this aimless killing spree must have been caused by someone else...

Yes, the distant screaming from before until they were eerily silenced. And the Demon General had still been sitting here drinking his orange juice while it was happening. It couldn't have been him.

Eugh, this is too much thinking for a near scared shitless man... I need to go to the bathroom before I become the scared pissless man...

@Kloudy Garbage. Garbage.

1731895726486.pngWith swiftness becoming of a Danger Beast hunter, the young man clad in a purple cloak that gave him some invisibility used the trees as if they were simply parkour obstacles that helped get him higher into the canopy.

When the growling Earth Dragon looked up to see what was going on, a short sword was suddenly plunged into the creature's red eye. It cried out in pain, waving frantically around its face to try and catch the scoundrel who did it. It could feel the little human jumping onto its back near one of its shoulders, and it tried to slam its clawed hand against the human.

However, Kize saw this coming and dodged towards one of the spikes on the creature's upper arm, where he dug his short sword between the plates and kicked the pommel, making the creature cry out in agony. Kize swiftly pulled his sword out and jumped to the creature's back, as the Earth Dragon tried to slam its shoulder and arm against a sturdy tree. He slid to the creature's head and found a chink between the head plate and the neck plate, to which he stabbed his short sword into.

The Earth Dragon cried out, its screeching loud enough to make Kize wince. Kize pulled out his sword as the clawed hands came flying at him, and he jumped, the hands hitting its own neck as he landed on the creature's short muzzle. He used his dagger to stab into the creature's nose, causing its maw to open in a choked scream and allowing Kize to hang himself precariously with his dagger as a hand hold. He then shoved his short sword up and into the roof of the Earth Dragon's mouth, shoving it through and into the brain.

The sound ceased, and so did the movements. It let out a gurgling gasp, its rattling exhale sputtering blood that trickled down the back of its throat and spraying Kize with it. It then slowly fell forwards, Kize having pulled each sword out and kicking off the bloodied snout, landing before the Earth Dragon had time to rock the earth with its dead body.

Sighing, Kize sent forth a flare - a bright purple light bathing the Gifnora Forest in a purple glow. It was to call the gatherers, who would come and collect creatures the Danger Beast hunters kill. Considering the monstrous size of this Earth Dragon, it was impossible for Kize to drag it back to the city himself.

He left a note on the creature's shell with a sticky piece of paper, his crude handwriting legible enough to let the people know it went to the Empire's chef as a gift from Kize. He honestly hoped that lady found it suitable. Enough Earth Dragon meat to feed the entire garrison for a week - granted if they didn't get tired of the texture.

With that, he left for Marg Plateau, jogging to get the next item on the list. Amour's Teigu for making fire. He remembered only alpha male Marg Don's had the red gem that allowed them to breathe fire, so this was going to be fun.

It only took quite a bit, but Kize managed to jog into the plateau, the vast grasslands opening up before him once he left the Gifnora Forest's treeline. He walked through, keeping himself invisible from the Marg Falcons, the Marg Panthers, and any other man-eating Danger Beasts who were on the hunt for a meal at this time.

After another hour of searching, he found a large group of Marg Don. One of which was watching as two other Marg Dons attacked each other in some sort of sport. If he killed the entire group, it would massively deplete their population. As dangerous as they were to merchants, he couldn't let them go extinct, as the only other Danger Beast who can grant fire to a Teigu were even more dangerous that a singular Danger Beast hunter couldn't deal with on their own.

So, he snuck in, knowing how weak the Marg Dons were if it weren't for their overall moderate size and sheer numbers. Still, they only managed to reach Kize's chest in height.

Using his Shingu to hide, he slowly approached the group, careful to not alert the Marg Dons. He used a special herb to hide his scent, rubbing it on himself as he got closer. The glowing red gem of the Marg Don shone brightly from the moonlight.

As the Marg Dons socialized with one another, some of the Marg Dons from their hunting party had come back with a large beast in tow. The alpha male Marg Don left his spot and began eating from the beast until it had their fill. Kize kept a wide berth from any potential Marg Dons who would be walking around, slipping closer and closer to the now resting alpha male Marg Don, while the children and pregnant Marg Dons began eating from the large creature next. During this time, Kize immediately sliced the alpha male Marg Don's throat with a quick swipe of his short sword, preventing it from alerting its pack aside from a panicked gurgle.

Kize then made quick work, stabbing the back of the creature's neck to prevent it from biting or scratching him, and then he cut out the red gem. Deciding to take the creature with him, he laid the creature's body over his shoulders and ran.

Once the herd realized their alpha male was gone, Kize and his haul was long gone, returning back to the Empire to return the red gem to Amour and letting him deal with the remains of the Marg Don before it got sent to the chef lady to cook up.

Kize couldn't help but smile a little. It was a successful night.

Iwai ignored Lemille easily dodging the reeds, he expected as much from him, and he planned for Satharial using her manipulation of her own black lightning to force the reeds into the ground, he kneeled down hiding behind the bamboo reeds sticking out the ground to cut off her vision of him, and then with all his might he swung his wooden katana, but even with the considerable distance he still had from her the wooden sword extended its reach. The wooden blade in his hand was as light and well balanced, but anyone struck by the blade would feel like a massive tree trunk had just slammed into them. His aim was to cut down Satharial and potentially deliver a massive blow to Lemille all in one strike. He wasn’t worried about killing these two enemies, they were strong enough that he didn’t need to hold back much. But he also had no reason to bring out his trump card, especially given his versatile plant collection he had in his pouch. The extended wooden blade cut through the copper bamboo reeds and aimed to do the same to Satharial as easily as a real knife through butter, an impressive feat considering it was seemingly made of wood, slightly less impressive considering it was a Teigu of legendary power.

Satharial regarded the immovable blade with a cool gaze. Only to find her vision of him cut off from him swiftly ducking under his artificial bamboo forest. There was no doubt in her mind that he would retaliate, but unlike the average chaff the Rebel Army had she couldn't approach this opponent the same way. The fact of the matter was, that Satharial was used to fighting those far weaker than her. As her main purpose within the Capital was the culling of dissidents and corrupt officials. All of whom could barely put up a fight let alone be an actual threat to her. While her Teigu was potent and powerful in its own right, even it could not stand up against a Legendary Teigu. Iwai did exactly as she expected, yet even still she couldn't help but instinctively react when his blade lengthened to almost absurd levels and swung towards. Satharial knew its appearance belied the true power of its swing, so she didn't dare take it head on. Fortunately, even without her Teigu She was far from weak thanks to her enhanced status. With quick reflexes that would put many to shame, Satharial ducked beneath the swing of the blade bringing her body close to the ground in a maneuver that made her look similar to a cat. For a moment her expression slackened, becoming empty as she sized up her opponent. Despite her intending to interfere as little as possible in this conflict which the General had laid claim to. Satharial simply refused to allow Iwai such control of the battlefield; something that was usually her forte. With black lightning in her palm, she swept her hand as if to toss the energy. The lightning spread in a fanlike shape, but rather than go for Iwai it struck the now severed remains of the copper bamboo the immovable blade had set up himself. The Rebels previous stunt had inspired her. As an Adjudicator Satharial was considered a threat not for her power, or even sadistic tendencies. But for the sheer versatility she could bring to bear with a relatively simple Teigu. Innovating in the field was a familiar act to her. She raised her hand in a claw-like grip with her palm facing up to the sky. In response the remains of the bamboo now crackling with her Teigus energy were under her control. As both a highly conductive material and being infused with her energy they were at their easiest to manipulate. The bamboo floated into the air under her command, and then with another gesture she struck them back down to the earth but this time in such a way as to obstruct Iwai's movement, effectively boxing him in. If nothing else, it would serve as a suitable distraction for General Lemille to close the distance and begin their battle In earnest. She threw a glance at the General, an unhinged look of longing upon her face. The grin returned to face at the sheer anticipation of what may come next. She once again fell back, making sure not to be in Lemilles way for too long.

Lemille was confused at the sudden duck, before seeing the blade coming right for him, freezing in terror as he dropped his sword and sheath at once, the blade lodging itself in the stone ground and against the wall he was standing next to. The unbreakable nature of the blade revealed itself, as the way it lodged itself into the ground and wall stopped the giant swing in it’s tracks, making it look like Lemille’s stance was simply that firm that the blade couldn’t move him even when it directly impacted his chest. He shuddered inside his armor, which was entirely unseeable to those viewing him from the outside. He picked up his blade slowly, firm movements as he stepped away from the wall, looking towards the other people involved in the fight, seeing the boxed in Iwai and the sudden retreat of Sarathiel, internally crying that she left him during this.

Iwai commanded his blade to return to him and it reacted to his thoughts returning quickly to its normal size. The blade was as much a part of him as his arm or leg, and so long as he kept it, he would never have to worry about death, other than the one that would eventually come by the Teigu itself. It seemed that he had at least succeeded in distracting the biggest threats from the rest of his team, with the threat of the immovable blade before them they couldn’t possibly afford to divert their attention, or so he hoped. As far as the rest of the Empires forces, he wasn’t worried, Karma, and the rest of the team would be able to make it out without much issue so long as he held off the big threats himself. Which judging by the enemies' actions they seemed more concerned with preventing his own escape rather than getting past him. He let out a warm chuckle seeing his own plants being used against him in such a way. “I see you are quite skilled with your Teigu. It is indeed most impressive, it's just a shame you have to use such skill for such a ruthless, and evil cause. But I will soon lay your dark ambitions to rest, along with the so-called Hero of the Empire.” Iwai gave little time for reply as he aimed the blade of his katana towards the ground and then extended in holding onto the hilt as it rocketed him into the sky. He probably could have tried to escape with this move, It wasn’t guaranteed he would succeed given his foes level of skill but the sudden maneuvering would surely have put them off guard and given him an opening. But he knew that members of Night Raid hadn’t escaped yet and he wanted to make sure they all had before then. Now falling back towards his foes, he twisted his body as he landed creating a spinning downward strike attack with his Katana as he did aiming right for the head of Lemille.

Lemille stared up towards the blade, shock freezing him place as he thought of any way to try and get out of the way, but it was coming so fast, this kind of fighter was something Lemille could never even dream of fighting. But with a single flash of the swords hilt, which was reflected off of his eye to make it look like his eye was glowing red, his armor shifted just a bit from how he moved, making all the pieces lock into place accidentally, supporting each other. Once the wooden blade struck his head, all the armor pieces distributed the shock of the blow from his head down to the ground. The ground beneath his feet cracked, while he remained unmoving, the fate altering blade making it look like he hadn’t even though the attack was worth blocking, as it stopped dead in its tracks against his head. Lemille, reeling from the fact he was still alive at all stared towards Iwai, barely able to utter a desperate request… “…Don’t do that again.” It came out of his helmet altered by the sword to make it sound like a clear warning and threat.

Iwai was astounded that Lemille took his attack head on. Upon impact with the Generals helmet indeed the ground did crack, but also a gong-like sound rang out around them shattering all the windows of the areas closest to them. Iwai could only stare for a moment in wonder at his foe. It was truly a shame he would not join their side. He would have surely been a remarkable asset in taking down the Empire. Iwai sheathed his katana smirking satisfied with the results of their clash.”Very well then, I shall relent on this day. If we both went all out it would surely destroy the entire empire, and while I’m fine with wiping out this corrupt country I am not willing to do it at the cost of innocent lives. So instead, I will leave you with a parting gift. Iwai reached into his seed bag and pulled out a strange looking crimson red bulb. He quickly struck the ground where he stood planting the bulb deep within it and leaving a mark where it had entered. “There are tales of attempts at offshoot Danger Beast based upon the tree of life. The results being much weaker, and rather unstable at best. However, that is only in comparison to the original, in reality even a fraction of the tree of lifes power would be enough to wipe out most cities, and towns, luckily there are very few in existence.” Iwai picked up a broken piece of glass and quickly cut his hand with it before holding it over the hole where he had planted the bulb. Slowly but surely his blood dripped down onto the area, shining a brilliant red unusual for normal blood. “But do not worry, my abilities and knowledge of these plants will make sure this one only attacks those I would view as enemies. Now, rise Demon Seed, Sanguine rose.” Iwai commanded and suddenly the ground below them began to rumble as if an earthquake was happening. Iwai smiled at Lemille as if saying goodbye to an old friend. “I know a man of your skill will not be bested by such a thing, but at the very least this will buy me some time. I do look forward to our next battle, may it be somewhere we can truly test one anothers abilities.” Before anything else could be said a massive black petaled bulb erupted from the ground, rising higher and higher as black spiky rose stems seemed to follow it, and before long one of the rumoured demon seeds was before the empire soldiers, swaying and swinging its roots and stems like some sort of tentacled monstrosity, its petals opened revealing a monstrous face staring back at them, each petal was lined with what appeared to be razor sharp teeth, and in the center was a truly horrific sight, almost as if alive the forms of humans seemed to be trapped inside trying to claw their way out to no success. Then it let out a massive screech alarming all empire soldiers to its presence before it began its assault on the empire soldiers. Its black roots reaching out and piercing the bodies of any weaker empire soldiers that might be close enough, and its razor sharp petals being blasted from its face before growing new ones to replace them, all of this acting to shred any foe who was close and drain them of their blood. Iwai took this chance to escape, using his katana to once again shoot himself into the sky this time far away from the foes and towards one of their escape routes. He wasn’t a fan of using such a deadly weapon, but luckily his Teigu gave him enough control over plants that he could somewhat sway the creature to only attack empire soldiers. The fact that it was smart enough to recognize what was an Empire soldier was just a lucky break for him. He really hadn’t tried this out before, but it seemed to be working fine, his biggest regret was having to use one of the three he had left. With only 2 left he would need to use them sparingly. He landed somewhere out of sight brushing off the dust from his clothes and taking one more look back at where the rose was before smiling and running off to escape with the other members of Night raid.

Axel "Karma" Graves
Location
: Palace City - Underground Escape Tunnel
Interactions: Garbage. Garbage. (Ume Rishagi)
Mentions: NeramoDJI NeramoDJI (Riverside Butcher mentioned)

----
Waltzing through the escape tunnel, the way in was clear of any Imperial activity and for the first time tonight he was able to rest his guard a little. Holstering his teigu and reached for his cigarette packet and lighter.
"K...Karma?" She breathed out in surprise. She couldn't have been more relieved to see an ally for once.

"I'm so glad to see a friendly face! I uh....defended the tunnel" Ume peered out from her shrouded perch, pointing out the body of the infamous butcher
"Yeah, it's me. It looks like you made it through all right. That's good." he said solemnly as he stuck a smoke between his lips and lit up the end, emerging from the shadows of the tunnel entryway into the light of the tunnel corridors. Where he took notice of the body Ume pointed to, and recognized it almost immediately "The Riverside Butcher?" he looked almost shocked for a moment as he went to kneel down by the body to take a closer examination of it.
"It wasn't easy, got banged up pretty bad; She was obsessed with Lemille" Ume found difficulty in making sense of it all, wincing as she stood up.

She broke my katana and when I picked it up...it changed into one so I feel like I should keep it"
"She was dangerous is what she was, but now she's dead and that is good enough for me." Karma almost looked happy for the first time tonight, but his mood quickly changed by the following information. His gaze became momentarily fixed on the katana-shaped teigu Rixfluct on Ume's waist with contemplation stirring in his eyes "Hm, I see...Well, I'm not exactly an expert on Teigu - that is more Sage's department. Though from where I'm standing and from my own experience, it seems like one or two things happened here." he straightened back up and took a puff from his smoke "Either the infamous Riverside Butcher has been using an incompatible this whole time, and tonight was the night it finally caught up to her, or that thing decided it liked someone else better. In any case it seems to me that your Rixfluct here is a fickle bitch, so if you intend to keep it: watch yourself." he continued puffing away at his smoke.

Andreas The Revolutionary Fist
aaf39f3041478d2048d52ac39ce1fdc2.jpg

Location: Night Raid HQ, the training grounds
Time: 7am the next day (let's say it's a Sunday, or whatever the equivalent in this world would be)
Mental state: Furious, and betrayed
current status: Alive and venting his rage

The H.Q of Night Raid was well hidden in the mountains, far enough off that the Empire would never be able to find them without some kind of luck, power, or information on there location. Normally it was peaceful, but this morning the entire grounds of the HQ shook with a furious intensity as if an earthquake was happening. Andreas had heard about the outcome of the mission from several sources already. Iwai, and Karma made sure to report to him as soon as possible. At the time he had let the information wash over him like a brisk breeze of air. Just taking in the icy feeling that washed over his body as he was informed of a traitor in their ranks. He had no way of knowing who it was that leaked their information, but whoever it was must have been skilled, there was very few who could successfully infiltrate their ranks without being caught by one of their monitors. Unless....it was one of the enemies that had gotten to a member after they had joined, yes that would be possible, but he was pretty close with just about all his members, and they all had their reasons for joining Night Raid, whether noble, or just for revenge. The whole situation made Andreas head spin, he really didn't think he was cut out to be a leader, but his options weren't great. He had to figure out what he was going to do, and he couldn't ask anyone else about this situation because any one of them could be the traitor. He didn't like the taste this whole event left in his mouth, luckily, they hadn't taken too many casualties. Sure, it might seem cold to say that's lucky given they still lost a handful or so of their members, but it was better than their entire group being wiped out. Which if Iwai hadn't been there that very well might have happened. They would need to be careful; they'd need to prepare for future battles, and most importantly they'd need to find out who the traitor was. Andreas was on the training grounds taking shots at some of the post they used for training newer recruits or just honing their own skills. It helped Andreas to think if he vented his frustrations some. Unfortunately, he was so monstrously strong that without realizing it he was demolishing everything around him and causing the entire mountain range to vibrate."Came all the way from the revolutionary army to avoid all this complicated political bullshit and now look where I am! HOW THE HELL DO I ALWAY FIND MYSELF IN THESE SITUATION!!!" He yelled as he once again struck a post sending this one flying into the wall of the HQ.

Yamori
396355-99878-gin-ichimaru.jpg
Yamori had rejoined Lemille and the others as soon as he was done terrorizing others, but he found himself standing before a large monstrous flower when he did. The plant seemed to rely on sense other than sight, which meant Yamori's invisibility wasn't much use, and it seemed to be capable of taking over the bodies of people it killed causing them to rise as servants and attempt to feast on anyone around them. Of course, Yamori just saw it as a fun game of tag and quickly disposed of anyone who came close to him. The monster flower was a bit more trouble though, and he would find himself with a few scrapes and bruises by the time the night was over, of course he didn't take it down alone. The new old lady had also been involved. Satharial or whatever her name was, it didn't really matter, even with her intrusion into the battle it was still a challenge, and he still received his fair share of wounds. He did well enough to hide any serious injuries he might have incurred, but when asked about the more minor ones, he simply laughed and played it off as if he had tripped and fallen during the battle. Most anyone would believe him given his innocent and clumsy facade he put on. He was now sitting in base awaiting Captain Lemille, or really anyone to come around, he was so bored after all, but apparently Lemille was still responsible for his boring captain duties, stuff like reporting back to the higher ups. Bleh! It was so annoying, those stuffy old guys really knew how to sap the fun out of stuff. Why did they need a report anyway? They killed some people, and some of their people died. Who cares about the details?
