Fantasy Necromancer's Moon

Sedrel makes his first choice
“Sedrel, where are you?” called out Master Shayla as she examined intricate lettering and pictures carved into an ancient stone wall. She had a vested interest in these depictions, as it was her belief that they contained the locations of hidden rooms inside the tomb, locked away from the rest of time.

“Right here master” expressed Sedrel as he hastily came around a corner, for the tomb had many tunnels and pathways. It was not wise to keep master Shayla waiting, as she was a busy woman.

Shayla placed her pale hand on the wall to keep track of where she was, before turning to her anxious student. “Sedrel, do me a favor and go find Emile and Bradyn, I sent them down to the dig site deeper in the tunnels and they haven’t returned yet…”

He wondered if giving the two younger students a task like that was wise. There were many potential risks in these old ruins that could harm them, or tarnish the ancient artifacts scattered about. In all likelihood, the two were just goofing around somewhere while they were away from Shayla’s eyes. Sedrel would not voice this however, as it wouldn’t be wise to cast such criticisms to such an accomplished necromancer.

Instead, he did as his master ordered, walking down the tunnels toward the dig site. As he walked, each step on the stone-tiled floor echoed down the tunnels, reminding him of how alien this section of the tomb was to him. For comfort, he grabbed tightly around his book he had stored away in his bag. He’d never been this deep in the tomb before. There was a strange feeling in the air around him from the damp air of the tunnel, one that cast a cold aura of loneliness over him. Nothing had been down here in centuries, not until recently anyway.

Just then, after a few minutes of walking, something caught Sedrel’s eye. There was an interruption of some sort in the bleak pattern of the grey brick walls. He stopped, and examined it closer. At this distance he could see that there were illustrations and writings carved into the walls, similar to the one’s master Shayla was looking at earlier. Now that he was far out of her sight, he wondered if he should take a closer look at the inscription, or continue down the hallway as told?

What should Sedrel do?
