my major issue with the “i can’t write starters” thing is that… like, when you’re starting a roleplay, it’s always best to begin from the perspective of whomever would have the most going on at the time of the starter. if character a is in the process of searching for character b for whatever reason, then would it not make more sense for the admin of character a to start at the point where their character finds character b? does that make sense? because if you start with the character who’s really Not doing much, then the starter is mostly going to be fluff and filler and would likely not have that great of a hook either.

after watching this scene, i get it, billy has a suuuper sad backstory, whatever. being abused doesn't justify becoming an abuser. he's just as bad as his father. having daddy issues doesn't make it okay that he's a racist, so regardless, i will never understand why some people find it so easy to justify what a fucked up person he is.

not at anyone in particular, but isn’t it a bit strange that some people will go on and on about how roleplay is a coping mechanism, a form of escapism even, and then get upset at people who write characters with darker traits, or plots surrounding dark themes? my brother in christ, that is the coping part!

it HURTS me to realise that the symbolism and heavy research i put into my writing might not always be received or analysed the same way by the receiver, but i also can’t over-explain it because not only does it ruin the flow, but i also don’t want to ruin the chance for them to build their own interpretation, arguably one of the most appealing aspects of collaboration with other writers </3 -
