  • An idealist - a sincere one anyways - will sooner or later be faced with the realization that there are more fights to fight than they ever could. That by necessity even holding steady to their cause(s) there will be many times when they simply cannot stretch thin enough to be in all of them, that they will have to choose between them. An idealist dies when they realizes far fewer are worth fighting for than would even occupy their time.

A passing thought. A moment of self-reflection. Probably wrong or exaggerated in plenty of ways - but I wanted to throw it out into the ether.

As long as there is at least one worth fighting for, a true idealist will never die.

One thing that can really break my suspension of disbelief - maybe more than it should - in VRMMO / game -based premises it's "this game is super popular" mixed with "this game is defined by completely unique & exclusive abilities and a mix of inumerable quite likely incompatible and impossible to balance systems". I can kinda if barely buy the idea that a game of exclusive unique abilities might have some appeal and become popular, but one where it's basically creative mode on the base systems of the game doesn't just come across as impossible it strikes me as plain horrible for gameplay.
Hey! How's it going fren? 😁

Aw I'm sorry to hear that, although I know exactly what you mean. Try not to dwell on your frustration, you come first before any rp. ✨

Thank you <3 Still can't help feeling a bit guilty though. Hopefully when I finally managed to resolve these matters I'll be able to get everything in order.

stuff, basically. Finishing school, running DnD, painting, writing, etc. Felt I should make my annual journey to RPN this time of the year. I imagine you’re still doing your thing here as well, seeing that you’re active and all that.

I wouldn't describe myself as 'active' right now... I occasionally post on a discussion thread and some on the game forums but that's all I've been able to manage in the last few months. And at this rate I won't even be able to make those replies I owe or the 1x1 interest check before it's too late.

ah. Well, getting those posts in months late to your partners is better than never ever, or at least, letting them know that you can't, y'know? Is what it is at the end of the day. Take care of yourself man.
Tip to anyone thinking about a major plot twist: Plot twists generally require trust. The greater the shift the plot twist causes the more goodwill it will take for people to want to stay invested, especially in a medium like roleplay where the “audience” is an active contributor to the content, and their own plans, hopes and aspirations may be shattered by the plot twist, particularly if the likelihood of it existing isn’t pre-established.

Long story short, as a rule of thumb it may be best to save plots with big secrets and twists to when you are RPing with more people who already know you in one way or another, unless you can reveal upfront that there’s going to be a big twist so players know it is coming.
I don't think this should be a controversial statement... but if you make a group RP that is about a fandom (as in not inspired by the fandom, but just straight up the fandom), it should be labeled "fandom".

    Huh, odd
I can't imagine folks would find that particularly controversial though XD
Chances are people just mislabeled them on accident, or weren't sure about which tag to lean towards (since Elder Scrolls could conceivably be considered fandom, but also fantasy. Not saying I think it's that way, but I could imagine getting confused).
Considering each page has 25 threads, 5 mislabeled threads out of 75 isn't awful! Maybe if a new one pops up you can recommend they change the tag, since they're likely to get more players if it's correctly labelled.

Wouldn't that run afoul of the updated rules on vigilantism?

Either way though, yeah, I understand why the mistake - or choice - could have been made, and really it's not a huge issue, more like a petty annoyance (hence going on the status and not, say, a thread)

I clipped this from the rule on vigilantism!
"Offer guidance, not enforcement: It's okay to inform other users of the site policies, but do so calmly and respectfully. Refrain from using authoritative language or adopting a condescending tone. Remember, your role is to provide information, not enforce rules."
Sounds like as long as it's just a friendly recommendation, it's probably fine. I guess you could make a report instead, but like you said, considering how small of an annoyance it is, it might not be worth it lolol.

I see. Well, I hope things are better for you now, or if they aren't, that they start looking up soon. I won't pry into what happened but if you'd like to discuss or vent about it, feel free to come. I can't promise I will alway sbe available, but I might be!

Stumbled upon an old thread of yours last night. The one clarifying the "simple, casual, and detailed" RP mindsets. Very well-written. Very insightful.
