I don't know how a song about Christ somehow became the quintessential renaissance/medieval fantasy theme song, but it regularly makes me very happy.
Character idea: Warlock devoted to his dark goddess not because he values or desires the power that comes with, but because he's fallen in love with her. He knows she will never change her wicked ways and that she will almost certainly never love him back, but he has come to accept that and values her anyways, and only wants the best for her. He could honestly take or leave the power he traded for, for what matters most is that he gets to see her.
