    Oooooh!

    Oh that Martin Luther!

For some reason my mind immediately jumped to Martin Luther King.

    • Law of Bug Report False Alarms: About 80% of all "bug reports" are either intended features of the software or purely the fault of the one posting the report.
    • Out of Sight, Out of Mind Law: For about 30% of all forum users, nothing exists on the forum or any given subforum, opened threads excluded, that requires scrolling in order to be seen.
Also known as the google page 2 efect.
    • General Linux Discussion Law: As a general Linux thread approaches infinity, the chances of the following happening approaches 1:
      • Ubuntu bashing
      • Linux Mint bashing
      • systemd bashing
      • All-round Linux bashing by Windows fanbois
      • Richard M. Stallman's "GNU/Linux" rant being quoted either sincerely or, more often, ironically
      • "I use Arch btw"
      • Rice screenshots
      • Support requests by newbies
    RIP Linux users.
    • Law of Confirmation Count: Any post that is seconded by someone will also be "thirded" and so forth. Similarly, "me too" will be followed by "me three". No exceptions.
    • Adaptation War Rule: As the discussion of any fictional story with a popular adaptation approaches infinity, the chance of flame wars between those who know the original and those who only know the popular adaptation and are mostly unaware of the original approaches 1.
    • Secret Society Law: Subforums for real-life meet-ups are always visible only to registered members, if not even only to those with a two-digit minimum post count, in order to shield meet-ups from foreigners (presumably they mean people foreign to the forums, not literal foreigners).
Law of the Ungrateful Bastard: If a new user has started a thread looking for a solution to a problem, and one is found, that user will never be seen again, much less post what the solution was, give thanks for it or mark the thread as solved.

    • Exception: If it was a software issue, and the thread was marked as solved, the original poster has solved the problem by re-installing the entire operating system and/or switching to a different product.

I hate when this happens so much XD I'll find like one or two threads asking about a very specific problem I'm having, and no one will share the answer, or even worse, the guy just says they figured it out and leave it at that
Online Shithole Law: The higher the new-moderators-announced-per-given-time-to-users ratio, the more likely something is inherently wrong with a forum.

    • Corollary: If you see posts from at least two former admins whose accounts were deleted, you should probably steer clear of that forum.
    • Law of Conservation of Reply Length: The longer the full-quote, the shorter the actual reply.

Me when someone asks a question I can basically answer by quoting the rules and/or FAQ. ^33^
    • Digital Immigrant Phenomenon: It's easy to tell forum users who are unfamiliar with any digital devices beyond pocket calculators.
      • Their user name looks like it could be their real name and probably is.
      • They write forum posts exactly the way they'd write a letter.
      • They use line feeds within the same paragraph which also show how wide their screen is.
      • Even though they could use the signature for what it was originally conceived for, namely something akin to the signature at the end of a letter, they don't have one.
      • If they have a profile picture at all, it's their passport photograph.
    • "Clueless and Careless" Law: Every forum will sooner or later encounter the sort of newbie who didn't even know forums exist right before they joined and start posting right after joining, the sort that can be identified by these attributes:
      • They start new threads about topics about which at least one thread already exists within their own field of view.
      • They never give their threads meaningful titles.
      • They always drop their threads into which subforum they happen to be in because they've neither understood nor even noticed the existence of subforums.
      • They never reply to their own threads, either because they don't know that's possible (or how to do that) or because they can't find their own threads after the mods have put them into the right subforums.
Found the German" Law: German users are easy to spot on English-speaking forums.
    • Their translation from German to English is worse than Googlish to the point where you need to be fluent in German to understand their English.
    • They use Capitals and Punctuation in English, where it would be correct in German.
    • If something has a German and an English name, they can't be bothered to look up the English name and use the German one instead. At best, they translate the German title into English.
    • They're likely the only ones on a forum to not see the GDPR as a nuisance.
    It's back!
I swear one more "weed cat" joke and I'm gonna lose it!

(Ooh boy, this'll be fun out of context)
This year's gonna be a great year for gamers. Or a great year for me, at least.

"The algorithm is so advanced. It knows exactly what you want."

No it's not and no it doesn't. The algorithm will see me watch a video about peas and then shower me with videos about peas. I don't want to watch videos about peas. It was a one time thing.

This is why I open practically everything that's only mildly interesting to me in incognito. I get to keep my recommendations the way they are :xFtongue:
"Napoleon was average height for the time."
That doesn't mean he wasn't short it just means everyone was short.
Hey you! Yeah you! Did you know that Liberty Mutual helps you customize your car insurance so you only pay for what you need?
