  Standing at a height of 5'8", Xiurong possesses an athletic frame befitting a bender who has been extensively training from a very young age. She has a pair of emerald eyes, a strong set of eyebrows, and brown locks that reaches her waist albeit always styled into a high ponytail. She has bronze skin marred with numerous scars all over her body and a notable mole on the skin beneath her left eye.​

  Xiurong Beifong is the firstborn of the Earth Empire's reigning sovereigns, followed closely by her twin brother. As the eldest, she was the rightful heiress of the throne; a fact that was dropped onto her shoulders ever since she developed consciousness. Thanks to this, Xiu's childhood was mostly filled with books and trainings, never actually having time to enjoy herself and play with fellow children. What little entertainment she had was all thanks to her brother, Xu, and a Dai Li girl, Jia. The young princess would occasionally sneak out of her studies to hang out with them- playing dolls, hide-and-seeks, tags, and even earth surfing.​

  This was the extent of her life until she hit the age of twelve. Her parents threw a grand festival in her honor; fully confident in their beloved daughter, the monarchs organized a live match between Xiu and Jia. It was, quite possibly, one of the best fight two twelve-year olds could have concocted. However, it didn't take long before it became apparent that Jia was the more skilled of the two. This greatly angered Xiu; the weight of her parents and people's expectations dragging her down until she simply couldn't take it anymore and exploded.​

  It was quite the sight. First came air, a gust of strong wind sending Jia flying to the concrete walls of the arena. Then came water, sharp whiplashes that cut through her skin as she tried to pick herself up. Next came earth, a large boulder hurled her way that she tried to block with her two hands. And finally, when the rock shattered and she opened her eyes, came the scorching fire.​
  ​
  Everyone was astounded on that day while they stared upon the young princess, her eyes a bright pool of white while a ring of each element circulated around her, her feet a few feet above the ground. That was when everyone, including Xiu herself, realized that she was the new Avatar.​
  ​
  The White Lotus came knocking on their doors a week later, and Xiu was immediately sent to train with them. She was stripped of her inheritance, the claim for the throne passed down to her younger brother.​
  ​
  Nobody really knew for sure what happened, but Xiu's personality began to change drastically. Her meekness has entirely vanished, leaving an arrogant and seemingly wicked girl in its wake. Words began to spread about her activities and how she would go around the world helping people while mastering all elements. Nonetheless, the peaceful state of the world has turned the people complacent and their faith in the Avatar has wavered. While she generally had a good reputation, it all quickly went downhill when news about her father's disappearance reached her.​

  She was sent back home to investigate, finding no clue or whatsoever until a month later when she found conclusive evidence of orchestrated abduction which pointed the Sand Kingdom's leader as the main culprit. Xiu told Xu about this and the two of them, along with a small team, went to the neighboring nation and tried to disclose the issue diplomatically at first. When the Sand ruler claimed innocence, Xiu was greatly angered and opted to infiltrate the palace's dungeon.​

  Unfortunately, it didn't go as planned. The team somehow got caught sneaking in and was put under arrest. Mad and desperate, Xiu activated the Avatar State and resisted capture, causing great havoc in Sand Kingdom. They all managed to flee at the end of the day, and now the Avatar and the unlucky people that had been dragged into the matter are now wanted fugitives.​

  The White Lotus commends Avatar Xiurong's quick mastery over the Earth and Fire elements alongside their sub-bendings, remarking her combat abilities as one of the best among the documented Avatars. As of the moment, she is reported to be an adept airbender with her mastery test coming up within the year. However, unbeknownst to the public, the Avatar is yet to understand, much less master, the fundamentals of waterbending.​

  Except her sword isn't an odachi but a jian- a one-handed, double-edged, Chinese sword. The hilt of the sword is mostly composed of pure alloy except for the pommel. The pommel is composed of a meteorite from the Metal Kingdom, a gift from the other BeiFongs, and can be metalbended and called upon by Xiu. On the other hand, the battle fan's edges are razor-sharp. It has a sizeable width (36inches) which is useful for creating gusts of wind or gliding.​

  Nightwing is a dark griffin Xiu encountered when she was fourteen during her travels. Dark griffins are one of the rarest creatures in the world, found in the forests of the Fire Nation, and they're extremely hard to train either thanks to their highly-aggressive nature. Xiu found Nightwing when he was just a baby. He was on the verge of death, seeing that his mother was a victim of illegal poaching, so she nursed him back to help and basically raised him. Nightwing sees her as his mother.
  
  He is a fairly large creature and can accommodate a maximum of four riders. His feathers can perfectly blend with the night sky, making him suitable for subterfuge.

There are many distinct features that make Jia stand out amongst her peers. Jia may be on the shorter side of the spectrum but she was known to have a piercing gaze alongside an indifferent expression that she always wore. She wears a special gauntlet on her left arm that is made out of platinum and acts as a small to accompany her Wodao, a sword that she uses with her right hand.

Her Dai Li uniform is altered to the point that she has no sleeves on her right arm, exposing her large burn scar that reaches up to her neck, and allowing her more movement due to her old wound and accessory. Jia's hair is often tied in a braid or a simple low tail, her hair curls slightly at the ends and reaches up to the middle of her thighs. While it may not be evident due to her choice of clothing, Jia has fairly toned muscles that come from her rigorous and continuous days of training since she was young.

Backstory

“Ha!" A hand pushed forward, as a child takes on a wide stance, mimicking the man in front of her. Her face was scrunched to mirror her father's expression. Accompanied by her pudgy figure her mother laughed and called her an angry bao before taking her up to her arms.

“Mama! My training isn't done yet!” The child complained, their broken teeth bared at their mother.

The mother laughed, it had been a while since her daughter had such energy ever since she broke her tooth. ‘Everyone will make fun of me!’ She whined not too long ago. “Oh my little Jia, does being a bender excite you that much?

"Of course! I get to be like Papa! I’ll be able to protect the Princess!" The child cheered and flexed their lanky arms, the image in her head was that of a swole and older version of her.

“The Princess, huh? Perhaps one day, little one.” Her mother said affectionately before she planted a kiss on her forehead. "I’ll take her inside, Liu." Yue, the mother, started walking towards their house when she turned around and said, “Food’s been made, just the way you liked it.” There was a hesitation in her voice that Jia never understood before. Still, her mother hurried back inside.

A few weeks later…

“Ha! Ha!" Jia screamed, mimicking the same stances over and over again. She knew that her father was starting to become disappointed. She still couldn't bend, yet all he wanted was a bender like him.

Her mother watched Jia from the window of their house. For a kid at the age of nine, she noticed how there were times when Jia acted older than she should.

“Ha!" Jia huffed once again, her fist pumped forward. Nothing. Again and again, not even the tiniest speck of dust followed the child’s will. “... Still nothing.” She said dejectedly, her arms and legs felt like they were on fire from all the earth stances she’d done since early morning.

“Jia!” Her mom called from the open window of their house. Yue’s home-cooked food wafted through the air, Jia’s mouth drooling just from the smell.

“I’m coming!” Her sadness became secondary as the thought of her mother's scrumptious food would be devoured by her seemingly bottomless stomach. She giggled like the gremlin that she was and ran to her mother.

But before she could enter the door to their house, Jia heard a quiet whimper near their house accompanied by the harsh flaps of wings.

An avian predator screeched from a distance, its target was a young and injured Catowl. Even at a young age, Jia held a great sense of justice due to her mother's influence. Without a moment's hesitation, she leaped towards the small animal, despite her mother's scream. Adrenaline fueled her system as she ran and ducked above the little critter.

Her mother screamed in terror as she ran through the back door. "Jia!" Her arms moved in sync, power coursed through her body as fire blasted from her fingertips.

The little Xiaodan found herself sweating beneath the flames of her mother's protection. She was unmoving in her duty to protect, even when she had heard the vulture flap away.

"Jia, it's safe to come out now." Her mother cooed gently to which she obliged, but for some reason, something was preventing her from doing so.

"Mom... Why is it..." She felt her hips be held by her mother as she was pulled away from a small earthen dome that wasn't there before. "How did that get there?"

"How else would it?" Her mother asked for there was no way that a firebender like her would be able to create such a thing, her father had also been away for work.

Jia's eyes lit up as the realization hit her. She was a bender. Her father would finally be proud of her. And she could probably sneak to see the princess more often! "I did that! Mom, I did that! I'm a bender!"

"Yes, yes you are!" Her mother mirrored her excitement. Yue pulled Jia into a hug, she was happy for her daughter but she dreaded what Liu would do. Ever since he had been cast away by the Xiaodan Family, he had never been the same man she fell in love with.

"Mrooo."

Their celebration was stopped by the shy cry of the catowl. Yue’s face softened, and her hand found its way to the little creature’s head. Her hand was gentle as it gave the babe gentle caresses. “Jia, please, never do that again. You scared me, I thought you’d get hurt.”

“I’m sorry, Mama. I just… I couldn't help but feel like I had to protect it from the evil bird. They’re like the Princess! Small and shy!” Jia explained wholeheartedly as she kneeled beside the animal and scooped it up. “Can we keep them?”

Yue sighed at Jia then replaced it with a smile as her hand reached out to tuck a loose strand behind her daughter's ear. “You can, but you’ll have to learn to take care of them on your own one day, and make sure that they’re properly fed and bathed.”

She jumped in excitement then looked at the young catowl that had been sniffing her hands for the past few seconds. “I’ll call you…”

“Barnaby,” Jia called out, exhaustion was clear in her voice. She raised her hand to give her companion a place to sit. There was nothing much to note with her room. It was clean, and empty aside from the pet bed and bowls that Barnaby used in their daily life. She looked in the mirror and saw her dark, glazed eyes. She was far from the joyful and pudgy child that she used to be. Now she was a shell filled with despair, anger, disappointment, and a sense of duty.

Barnaby flew towards her immediately, purring as she landed and rubbed her head at Jia’s cheek. A small smile formed on the earth bender’s lips, rare occurrences are given only to select people… the people being the Crowned Prince, and while not technically a person, Barnaby. “I’m sorry I haven’t taken you out with me for a while, you must have been lonely staying here all day.”

Barnaby only cooed in response, further rubbing its soft head at Jia’s cheek to signal that it was fine. Barnaby liked being alone, staying behind to greet Jia whenever she came back. Memories resurfaced in Jia’s mind as her focus went to the burn scar in her reflection. She pulled Barnaby close to her and laid down on her bed. She scratched her animal’s ear as her mind wandered to the past.

“If only…” She spoke sentimentally, those wonderfully sweet memories that had become bitter in mere moments. Perhaps it was better to be exiled. Perhaps she shouldn’t have dreamt of being a bender, a Dai Li. She should have never met her in the first place. Her mother should have left with her rather than abandoning her with her father. “It still hurts, no matter what I do I still remember the smell, and how it felt… how painful it was to burn in that arena.”

She touched the bracelet that dangled on her wrist. Amber eyes stared at the letter x that was surrounded by the four elements and blue-colored beads. She wondered what happened, what changed, what she had done wrong for Xiurong to hurt her like that, for her mother to leave. “Grow up, Jia… You know you didn’t actually matter to her, to them. Not to the Avatar or my mother.”

“At least I know I have you Barnaby, I know you’ll stick by me no matter what happens.” She rubbed her hand on Barnaby’s body, feeling the soft fur brush her skin helped calm her mind a bit more with the soft purr of her companion lulling her to sleep.

Her healing is okay she can patch up a wound, and help treat some sicknesses, with the medicinal training she got growing up from her grandmother, and mother, but in more serious cases you definitely want to find a different healer. She is much more into freestyle and creative methods of bending that allow her to move more freely such as ice skating, and various other things.

  Kallik's best friend is a 5 year old bear-leopard named Nukka who is one of the biggest cowards you will ever meet, even though he's quite intimidating to look at appearance wise. She got him from her brother who was meant to be his mount while training to be a soldier, only for Nukka to get frighten simply over an icicle falling.

  Kallik was born to a quite traditional family and raised in the northern land of snow and ice. Right in the heart of the Northern Water Tribe a place she has never really ventured too far from except for when she goes on her little skating trips to clear her head. From her very stuck up family, and how they’re way too stuck in the past. Back to when women could only learn healing and keeping up the traditions of the old Northern tribe. A thing Kallik never really liked, or paid much attention to. Often daydreaming in her own little world and making up her own shenanigans. Much to the distaste of her parents Kallik never really sat still for long, always off doing something dangerous or time wasting. When she could be learning how to help people from her Grandmother and Mother who were both exceptional in their skills. Healing just never really took Kallik’s interest. Yeah she learned the basics and how to make some remedies, for the points where bending wouldn’t help, but what was she going to do with that other than patch herself up from her own skating injuries she got from time to time.
  
  Skating is her pride n joy, moving on ice as freely as a human could. Crafting ice and snow into her own obstacle courses of all kinds, dancing with the wind as she would maneuver about. Psychological Evaluation:
Prisoner #3354's evaluation should be reviewed regularly; for it provides an insight into behaviors one might consider seemingly regular. Patrol officers report a calm man who follows directions and spends their free time with provided reading and meditation, a man with a smile and attention to detail that has caused shift rotations in order to ensure no guard grows too merciful or attached. These observations seem to be remnants of PR training from pre-incarceration, the actions of someone trying their hardest to not provoke the personalized disciplinary actions made for #3354 by way of Duke Tosuda. Such actions have clearly affected #3354 deeply, as observations show that they refrain from most things one considers joyful and even fear towards expressing similar emotions. Freedom and autonomy are prominent in their ideals, and when provoked #3354 has shown a side of high aggression and the willingness to lie repeatedly. Questioning by therapists have revealed a trauma that manifests in a occasionally violent hatred for those who try to control his life unfairly, and an aversion to physical contact. #3354 has been shown to care greatly for kind individuals who do not try to break his focus, and is very loyal to those who seem to care about his wellbeing as a person and do not use the term 'mutt' in regard to Maizen.
Personal information:
#3354 is known as Maizen Tosuda, only son of Duke Danzo Tosuda, head of fire nation Clan Tosuda and president of Tosuda International; a private motor company for those with the prestige to be invited to the catalogue. His mother was a point of controversy being that she was a member of the southern water tribe of no renown. From the beginning Maizen was kept to minimal exposure to the business scene, and attended a private school for talented heirs only after getting his hair dyed. It is believed that there the young heir was antagonized regularly for their mixed heritage, Graduating this school was never in the cards, as upon his mother discovering the bullying he was pulled from school and given private tutors. This would prove to be worse, as his father selected very traditional and harsh teachers who often called Maizen a mutt behind closed doors.

It would be years of abuse before Maizen would crack, #3354 stating that he didn't want to put any more stress on his mother who was "dealing with enough already". one of Duke Tosuda's business partners had come for a meeting and brought their son, and after some drinking proposed that their son's fight to see how they were both progressing. Maizen was beaten badly, but after a series of underhanded remarks by the other son toward his blood, Maizen stood and launched a beam of what is now documented has his first reported use of combustion bending. Two more beams went off before Maizen was apprehended, but it was too late for the business partner's son. Thanks to his father's status and closeness to government officials the incident was labeled as a bad fuel fire, but Maizen was charged with two counts of murder plus injuring several police officers; and sent to a private prison where the rich would send their problems. [REPORT: rumors that Lotus Prison has inhumane practices is very untrue. *this report has been made and funded by the Lotus Prison Foundation].

Now 20, #3354 has been released and was eventually sent via boat to Republic City. While he was imprisoned, Maizen's mother has passed and Duke Tosuda has seen fit to put him in a position far away from home. Perhaps to fully be rid of him, perhaps to see if he was fully docile now. Whatever the reason, Maizen is due to oversee and shadow a new branch office setting up in the city. Closing remarks by #3354 state sarcastically "I am of sound mind and am and quite ready to trade one set of chains for another."

While he is technically the crown prince, he rarely wears his crown when not on official business, preferring to keep himself as low profile as possible.   Background: Xu Beifong was born right after Xiurong. With her being the oldest, she understandably took on the title of heir to the throne. Xu wasn't exactly bothered by this, instead, he hid away in the libraries for his own studies. However, he would always make time for Xiurong if she managed to sneak out of her studies and strict lectures and play with her. He would admit that with less pressure on him, he enjoyed a big part of his childhood and wanted to share that with his sister, even for only a short time.
  
  He was disappointed to find out that he didn't have the ability to bend, unlike his sister. But his family didn't shy away from him, instead, they allowed him to focus on engineering and architecture - something his great-grandfather was well known for. Despite being young, Xu excelled in understanding the concepts— perhaps he wasn't a genius but he was hardworking. And of course, to make sure that he isn't defenseless, they found a tutor for Xu to learn martial arts: the art of chi blocking. Though it wasn't as prevalent as it was before due to armor being a widespread thing, it was still a useful skill to have.
  
  Come twelve years old, his entire life was overhauled. He was watching a practice match between Xiurong and Jia when suddenly, Xiurong displayed Avatar abilities. Everyone was amazed - Xu was straight up stunned and an unknowing seed of fear and amazement was planted deep in his gut. Jia thankfully survived the event. A week later, Xu watched his sister get taken away by the White Lotus and suddenly, all eyes were on him. The heavy expectations that his sister carried shifted to him. He was thrown straight into lessons and had barely any time to rest. His only reprieve was seeing his sister every now and then. He took the responsibility in stride, having to match his sister. He couldn't break down now.
  
  Xu was not sure what had happened to Xiurong. One day, she just became colder and more ruthless. Praise turned to scorn. Admiration turned to jealousy. A once-healthy relationship turned sour. The shift in her attitude caused his own turn. The bright-eyed younger Beifong began to overcompensate and did away with looking out for himself if it meant he could get a leg up. In addition to his studies, he continued to learn more fighting skills for nonbenders such as himself. He learned piloting and tried to make his own innovations. He could never be the Avatar, but he didn't want to let himself be overshadowed.
  
  The reality of the situation came crashing down that Xiurong will always be better. When the palace was infiltrated and attacked, Xu was among those who were knocked out by a special gas. He barely could catch sight of any of the attackers before he passed out alongside the other Dai Li. When he came to, his father had been kidnapped. Xiurong promptly came back and he tagged alongside her to investigate the happenings where the evidence pointed to the Sand Kingdom. Xu wished to resolve it diplomatically but the Sand Queen claimed innocence while rejecting their request for a proper investigation into the kingdom.
  
  Xiurong had convinced him and the rest of the team to sneak into the dungeons to investigate themselves without permission. They were caught without them being able to collect enough evidence and, now, Xu had to run interference and damage control to prevent an all-out war between the Sand Kingdom and the Earth Kingdom when tensions were already on the rise.

  • Electric gauntlets - Provided to the young prince to compensate for his lack of bending. He uses it in tandem with his martial arts for times when he can't pierce through their armor or just wants a fast fight. Though it's not always effective, it is handy to have.
  • Recurve Bow - Something he requested for himself, Xu had it outfitted specifically for him. Its draw weight is higher than average but Xu can draw it with minimal difficulty. Most of his arrows are pure alloy tipped, but a couple are metal tipped to curb costs.

    • Pulse Arrows - Made to deliver electromagnetic pulses to shut down technology
    • Poison-dipped Arrows - These arrows are dipped into paralyzing poison, enough to temporarily stun a fully grown adult
  • Daggers - One of his last resort weapons is two pure alloy daggers. He's not a master of it, but he has enough experience with them to be able to put up a good fight.
  • Throwing Knives - A cautious man, Xu has started to bring a minimum of eight pure alloy throwing knives on his person at all times. These are hidden beneath his clothing but can easily be accessed by him. He uses this in conjunction with his more up front and personal combat times.
  • Vials of paralyzing poison - He always carries a minimum of two vials with him at all times to dip into when needed.

  • Brought along his personal, reinforced airship. It has three floors with the bottom floor as a dedicated vehicle bay. It can open up from the bottom as a ramp to allow easy access for vehicles. The second floor is dedicated to the space for the crew's living quarters and on the farthest area is the boiler room. The top contains the bridge, Xu's personal experiment chamber, and a meeting area. The rooms can be personalized and Xu is willing to redesign parts for better access.
  • Xu had regularly injected himself with the same kinds of poisons that he used to build up immunity against them. This has led to a few compromising times where he almost fell sick, but he's powered through them.
