  How will your major help/hurt the group?: everyone knows that one of the most important things when trying to survive a zombie apocalypse is to keep the zombies out. that's exactly what beckett is made for. being a junior construction engineering major, she's learned all about how to make secure buildings; how to plan them out, how to make sure a gust of wind doesn't knock the whole place down, she can even piece together a working plumbing system if the bones of one are already there. and it's not theoretical either, she knows how to get down and dirty and make a shelter/building/fortress plank by plank, even if it takes her a few months. she knows how to make due without electrical tools, how to know which nails or screws can make up for what they don't have, and she can even figure out how to take down other building to scrap for their own materials. the only thing beckett lacks is electricity. she never paid all that much attention in those parts of class, the ones that taught her nearly everything she'd ever need to know about wiring a light fixture and setting up a heating/cooling system in a house. her rationale was that whenever she owned her own construction company, she'd hire her own electricians to deal with that stuff.

While his specialization lacks in specific knowledge such as brain surgery or other such areas, his larger knowledge and wider skill range will prove useful.
