"Are you stupid or something?! You could've gotten yourself killed!" Kei yelled at the young girl who was staring at him with angered eyes, tears pricking at her eyes. "You don't mess with Team Obscurity! That can lead to getting yourself harmed, and you know what, you did! I told you once to avoid them, but nooo like a brat you are, you had to fucking get yourself in danger!" The champion shouted, his patience thinning.
Oh, I'm guessing you're pretty confused what's happening. Kei, the usual kind and gentle champion was blowing up in front of a "stubborn-ass" Kei likes to call her, trainer who almost got herself killed for messing with quite a dangerous organization.
"I do hope you know that every single time you mess with them, you're digging your grave," Kei hissed out coldly.
The young girl swallowed hard as she fought back her anger. "Why do you care?! If I'm so stupid enough to get killed why didn't you just let it happen?!" She snapped glaring up at him. "At least I'd be out of your way then!" She turned sharply on her heels and crossed her arms. She didn't want to face him in case she actually did cry. It was true that she had been near death, and would be dead if it wasn't for him. And it's not like she wasn't grateful for the help, but she sure as hell wouldn't let hum know that.
"And honestly do you think I asked to be killed?!" She shot, a single tear running down her cheek. When she first met this guy she automatically knew that he would be a complete ass-hole. "What did you think I just went up and say 'hey! I'm want to be killed!'"
"I didn't let it happen because I'm the goddamn champion!" Kei shouted back, however once he heard her sniffle he paused. Turning her around, his eyebrows furrowed, "Why are you crying? What happened?" He asked, his voice turning soft and kind. Kei didn't understand why she was crying. Not because he was yelling at her, right? She was stronger than that. They(Team Obscurity) must've done something before he came.
"Oh is that the only reason?" Kat snapped. "Because you can't risk hurting your precise title?" She yelped being spun around. "N-Nothing!" Her voice cracked as she frantically wiped the tears from her eyes. "Why would you even care? All you care about is your stupid title as champion." She sank to her knees on the ground as she choked back tears. She couldn't tell him what had happened, he probably didn't care either. Katyn had enough experience with guys just pretending to know when someone did or didn't really care.
"Don't put words in my mouth," Kei growled as he crouched down to her level, wiping her tears away. "Don't act like you know me when you don't." He brushed a hand through her dark brown hair, before scooping her up. "Let's get you cleaned up. It makes me uncomfortable when I see a lady crying," he said, positioning her bridal style as began to walk to the nearest town. "While we're at it, start talking."
Kat's cheeks turned red as she was picked up easily. "Nothing happened. So there's nothing to 'talk' about." She said stubbornly. Her hand drifted to her left arm, which had started to sting again. After shoving up her torn jacket sleeve she bit her bottom lip. A deep red gash cut across her arm and it stung with contact. "T-Thank you." Katyn said after pulling her sleeve down.
"Okay. Then tell me why you have four pokeballs. Last time I met you had five," he bluntly said. Kei looked down at the gash before sighing. He was glad he had a hotel here at Lilycove so he didn't have to worry about renting a room with a bloody trainer in his arms. As he pressed the button up to his room, kept a nice grip of the girl in arms.
Then he realized something, "What is your name?" he asked as he struggled to open his hotel room door.
"You know I can walk." She complained when he tightened his grip. She bit her bottom lip not wanting to answer his question. "They stole Brax from me. T-That's why I tried to battle them again. They were about to steal Nix too, before you showed up." Kat fell silent as the memory flooded back to her. "Katyn." She answered softly. With a soft sigh she reached down and opened the door for him. "I'm not completely useless."
With a quiet thanks, Kei opened the door and set her on the one of the hotel beds. "Stay there," he ordered before heading toward the bathroom to grab the first aid kit. He came back in a hurry, brushing a lock of black hair out of his way as he did so. "Sit up," he commanded, pulling Katyn's arm gently. As he began to tend the girl's arm, he fell silent.
"It was still stupid for you to try and battle them," Kei finally spoke as he dabbed a bit of alcohol on the wound.
Katyn did as she was told, her eyes scanning the room. "I'm going to get my pokemon back." She said, her voice final after a moment.. She winced as the cut stung more. Once he was done, she lifted her bangs away from her forehead. She hadn't even noticed the cut on her forehead until it started to sting badly. Kat lightly brushed her hand over the cut, smearing the blood. She frowned as she glared at the blood smeared across the back of her hand.
Kei paled at the sight of more blood. He was able to hide the fact that he was quite uncomfortable with the sight of blood; but now that he sees more signs of blood, he had to held in the vomit boiling inside of him. Grabbing another cotton, he quickly cleaned the cut and did the same process on her forehead, keeping his eyes on Katyn's to avoid seeing the gushing red liquid.
"Katyn, correct? Name's Kei," he introduced himself, finally having the courage to turn at the gash (which was clean now). "Do you have any more wounds?" Oh please say no. Please say no.
Kat eyed him carefully for a moment, nearly missing his question. Yes. She immediately thought but didn't say it quiet yet. "I don't think so." She murmured not wanting make him more uncomfortable then he obviously was. Another quiet moment passed before she snatched up the First Aid kit and stood up, a little too quickly. Her head spun and pain spiked through her ankle. She winced, failing to hide it. "Excuse me." She muttered before limping off towards the bathroom. She shut the door and locked it shut before she slid to the floor. Katyn dropped her head into her hands and sighed. After a moment she stood back up and cleaned the small cuts and scrapes on her other arm, before inspecting her ankle. After quickly wrapping her ankle tightly she pulled her boot back on and adjusting her jeans, she closed it back up and sighed, leaning against the wall. She hugged her arms tightly around herself, shuddering as the day rushed back to her. "Better get back out there." She mumbled softly before limping back out into the room again. "T-Thank you Kei." Kat said softly to him looking down.
Before the young trainer could leave, Kei grasped onto her arm (as gently as he could, but it was kinda hard seeing as the champion didn't know his own physical strength...) and with his (he thought) gentle touches, he tugged her back, "Where do you think you're going?" he asked, his voice piped in curiosity and worry. "I suggest you rest for a day. You had..quite an adventure for today, take a day off," the champion said. "Plus I think it'd be better if you were under my supervision. It'll keep you safe and I can help you get your pokemon back." Kei suggested–more like stated as he grinned.
"It's a win-win solution. I can stop Team Obscurity, keep a troublemaker under my eye and you get to get your pokemon in a short amount of time. Works, doesn't it?"
Kat winced as his hand enclosed her wrist. She stumbled slightly, making her wince again as to much pressure went on her left ankle. "It doesn't sound like your giving much of a choice." She grumbled, pulling wrist away, and setting it against her collarbone. "I can protect my self. I'm not some puppy that needs to be constantly watched." She snapped defensively. "I-I don't even know you." She added after a moment.
"Not many do," Kei replied as he walked over to the hotel door, stood there for a moment, leaned then comfortably stood in front of the door while watching Kat with unnerving eyes, a small smirk on his face. "It doesn't matter if you know me. I'm fine sitting here all day to get to know you. Really, all I care about is your safety. After all, near-death situations can be traumatizing, can it not? Are you sure you want to step out there when you just came back from a situation like that?" he commented smoothly, a smug smirk on his face as he rose an eyebrow.
"I must say, if you do want to do that; you're more stupider than I thought."
Kat held his gaze, though she could feel herself shaking slightly. She knew that there wasn't a way out of this and she was stuck where she was. "Its a hard decision considering all the fucking options you've given me." She growled, glaring at him. After a moment she went turned and sat down on the floor, leaning against the wall. "If I don't stay I fear you'll just stalk me, at least this way I know that your not hiding in the bushes watching me." She grumbled, pulling one knee up to her chest and setting her chin on it.
Kei laughed, "Language, missy. You may look like an adult, but I'm pretty sure you're childish like many of the other trainers out in Hoenn," he joked as he stood up from leaning against the wall. He grinned and crouched down to Kat's level. "And it's not stalking if you know I'm there. Stalkers are suppose to be hidden, are they not? You'll see me for sure," he laughed, ruffling her hair.
"What would you like to eat? I got some food from the famous Kalos. Our own Hoenn dishes...Unova's hamburgers..." he began to list off all the food from each region, whilst fishing out a pokeball. He enlarged one of his pokeballs and allowed his ace; Gardevoir to make her apperance. He quickly gave the Physic type his message before turning to Kat. "Also, don't try and run away. Gardevoir will find you in no time," he smiled.
"Fine. Then some sociopath following my every move." Kat slapped his hand away. She frowned and flattened her already messy hair. "I'm not hungry." In fact the mere thought of food made her feel sick to her stomach right. This whole day had been overwhelming, nearly dying, practically being abducted by a sociopath, and now being told she couldn't even run away. Not like she could in her condition right now.
"What beautiful vocabulary you have," Kei laughed as he began to order himself some pasta. He looked over at the girl sitting on the floor before sighing. "Are you gonna sit there all day or are you gonna move to a more comfortable place?" Kei asked as he allowed his Sylveon to be out. The male stroked his beautiful fur, then got up and walked to the bathroom, taking off his glasses.
He didn't really need the glasses; it was just a prop to hide himself away from the media. He also took of his fedora hat and set it on the counter before turning to the girl sitting there on the hotel floor. "Katyn is it? When and where did your pokemon get stolen?" he asked bluntly.
Kat scoffed glaring at him. "I will sit where I want to thank you very much!" She growled as she eyed him. She sighed heavily and grabbed one of her four pokeballs. A moment later she was nearly clobbered by an overly concerned Leafron. "Nix!" She giggled as he checked her up and down, making sure his trainer was okay. After making sure she was alive he pounced at her hand, trying to get her to pet him. Katyn laughed and stroked his head. Nix's eyes were about to scan the room but they first landed on Kei. His eyes narrowed as he crept forward, eyeing Kei carefully. "Hey! It's okay! HE may be a stalker, oh sorry sociopath is what we agreed on correct?" She shot at him as she wrapped her arms around Nix's neck and dragged him back. She nearly missed Kei's question. "Just outside New Mauville, about a week and half ago." Kat mumbled as she played with Nix's ears.
"Is that so?" Kei laughed as he didn't feel that threaten by the Leafeon. He knew he could easily beat him if he wanted, plus he had his two strongest pokemon out to protect him in case the small Leafeon did anything. The male walked over and scooped up the injured trainer with his strong arms, pulling the Leafeon up as well.
"A week and a half? Quite a long time, I'm afraid once we find your pokemon I don't know what Obscurity did to him," he explained as he gently set the trainer on the bed. "And it'll be hard to track them down, seeing as we are in Fortree City," he said. As he set a small bowl of soup on the counter beside her. "Rest up. And eat a little bit," he commanded. Kei pulled off his shirt, before heading toward the bathroom. "I'm taking a shower. Don't do anything stupid," he laughed as he closed the door behind him.
"Hey!" Kat yelped as she was set on the bed. "I'm going to find my pokemon." She repeated, just as stubbornly as before. "Hmp." She crossed her arms as Nix curled up beside her. As soon as the door shut she crawled off the bed and sat back down where she was, though Nix stayed where he was, looking at her curiously. "What? I don't want to move." She explained shortly to the curious leafron. His expression changed. "He doesn't decide where I sit, or what I do!" She complained, getting no change in reaction still. Nix suddenly stood up and bounded over to her, before nudging her side carefully. "No!" The pokemon pushed her harder and made her fall over. "Nix!" She yelped as he shoved her head, forcing her to move again. "Fine." She said with an exasperated sigh. She crawled back to the bed and lay down. "I'm still not eating anything." She mumbled with a yawn, pulling her pokemon over next to her. Nix simple buried his head next to her neck as she yawned and finally fell into a light sleep.
When Kei got out, only in his shorts, he looked at Kat with a curious gaze, "What was that out there?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe as he wiped some of the water droplets off his hair. He laughed, as he walked over to Nix and tried to pet the top of his head. He glanced over t0 the filled bowl of soup and sighed, "You didn't even eat. Gosh, what a pain," he groaned as he stroked his Sylveon's head.
"Sylv, do me a favor and see if you can find any recent activities regarding Team Obscurity?" Kei asked. The pokemon nodded and bounded off with a beautiful grace in each step/
Nix stared at Kei cautiously as he pet his head, though the small leafeon moved away from his hand after a minute. Katyn rolled onto her side, making Nix have to readjust his position. After circling the sleeping trainer he settled for laying on top of her side, watching the champion closely. "Nix" Kat mumbled in her sleep, trying to lazily push him off. Nix stayed where he was, and she eventually gave up and let him be.
