Marcus bit his lower lip fingers twiddling in front of him habitually. It felt like people where staring at him as they passed, their eyes full of judgment as they attempt to find a flaw on him.

Silently pleading for Dexter to fall out of the bustling crowd until he found himself staring at the stranger beside him unintentionally.

A familiar fire filling him, then it clicked who it was. The nice jock Pate.

The realisation caused him to shoot his head in the other direction to see if Dexter got out but he wasn't given that luck.

Marcus' heart began to pound, what if Pate didn't want to see him and Dex.

What if he found new friends, or worse he was about to greet a stranger and make a fool of himself and his presumption. Taking a breath he shuffled over to the other student.

"Um...Pate?"

Madelyn bit her lip, speaking to the lady at the reception desk. Itwould have been easy, name and key, had she not asked how the persons dy was and heard a reply of a snarky scowl and a "you tell me." She laughed nervously, nodded and grabbed the key, shooting back an awkward. "Hope it gets better!" Truth be told, despite being out going, her people skills were more of the rusty to nonexistant side. She was happy her parents actually unpacked the bins earlier. God, she was going to miss those weirdos.

Sighing inwardly, she tried to forget how sad her kid brother looked. Stupid kid needs to learn todeal eventually. Though Madi never did herself. Just a family of softies they were. She ran her hand though her short hair, fixing herself after hours of sleeping in a moving vehicle. that wasnt happening.

Upon a stroke of luck, she found her dorm almost immediately. Slipping in, she saw her parents work. Sketch books neat and sorted, boxes of box cutters, exactoknifes and tools labeled and stacked. Even a cute new dufflebag with all her swim team items. the room was as neat as it would ever be..

She came to the bathroom, cleaning herself up so she could tail it tothe mess hall and finally get some sustenance. Parting dark brown hair, adjusting a black and brown leathey jacket concealing a ruffled tan tank top and akwardly checking to be sure peach andblue floral shorts didnt ride up, she left. Her red converse clicked to a beat, displaying the rhythm of the energy. Fast paced and impatient.

Slipping in, she immediately grabbed a fruit plate and coffee. She grabbed a seat and observed the people around. it was easy to tell who was knew. Usually the uncomfortable looking ones and-

Hey, wait. She looked closer as three familiar faces came to view. A natural smile bloomed at the sight. They were all togethet, like before. Getting up, Madi slowly walked over. Yep, the lanky and shy marc, computer dorky Dex, and jocky closet dork Pate. God, they were here? "H-hey! Whats up?" She asked dumbly. Well, it was a start.

Jackie dropped his luggage inside of his room. He was late, like always. He managed to sneak a bit of booze under his bed. Maybe his roomate was chill and brought some too. He gazed around the room for his partner in crime, "Anyone here?" he called out as he quickly hid the booze and carton of cigarettes under his bed and countinued stowing luggage and personal possesions.

Sighing tiredly, Dex took the cup of coffee from the machine, holding Marc's tea in his other hand. He took a sip of his coffee while his eyes scanned the surrounding area, looking for the safest way to exit the never ending crowd without spilling either of their drinks on himself, "Oh, there we go. Thanks." The brown haired guy nodded to one of the older guys who was holding up the line in order to make some room. He nodded back to him as Dex made his way along the mass of people, until he finally found himself near Marc.

"Who's that?" He questioned while handing Marc his tea, his eyes watching the other guy curiously. Suddenly, something hit him, "Wait... No. Pate? Holy crap. Now isn't this a-"

"H-hey! Whats up?"

Slowly, he turned around, and laughed at the sight of the familiar girl approaching them, "This is getting better and better."

She approached Dex first, animated and acting like shes seen a ghost. She poked his arm and grinned. "Woah.. so i like, leave youalone for a few years and then suddenly you're all buddy buddy again?" She encompassed him in a short but tight bear hug then looked at the others, eyes threatening to do the same with them. "This is gonna be an awesome year." She spoke like she saw them just yesterday. Like they never grew apart, simply because she hates awkward politeness from not knowing somebody.

"Buddy budd-GUH!" He gasped for air when the girl encased him in a bear hug, "It's nice to see you too." He said weakly, trying to regain his composure at the unexpected show of affection. Yup, just like I remember her. He thought with a slight chuckle.

"Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah, now I have to wonder - is anyone else from our old gang here?" He scratched his chin in thought before folding his arms over his chest and giving a smile to both Pate and Madi, "How've you two been anyway?"

Marcus' smile transferred to his ice tinted eyes at the sound of a familiar voice. For a moment where it originated from confused him until she spoke once again before Dexter was enveloped into a hug which caused him to chuckle into the back of his hand. Before taking the tea from Dexters hand timidly in time to wave to the familiar Madelyn. His sleeves protecting his hands from the heat which rose off of its surface.

Madi looked to Marc and hugged him too, momentarily swiping his drink so he didnt spill the burning substance on himself in surprise. She returned it to his hands immediately and held back a chuckle. "You know... swim team, school, college aps, clubs, life." She answered obscurely. She looked at them expectantly. "What about you two?" They seemed.. well, a lot like she remembered them.

Marcus tensed at the hug, physical contact never being his favorite hobby in the world. But after a moment he returned the hug by patting her back awkwardly then she generously returned his tea. Taking a sip protectively as he listened, taking the warmth happily though his already toasty atmosphere. Swimming he had forgotten she was into that, it was nice to know she began doing what she enjoyed.

When she questioned what they had been up to he felt so low standard compared to her words due to his lack of experiences except his schoolwork and small job.

"Taught myself how to play the ukulele and piano and was an intern at the library. So not much.." He spoke in his habitually quiet voice.

Pate looked up and grinned wide, "Mates! Glad to see you all! Didn't realize you all were attending this school!"

He looked around at his friends, Marcus, Mandi, Dex, then Jackie. Yes, looks like I rolled a 20.

He began to scratch his face, remembering all of the zits he used to have when he first met these guys, "So, fellas, how've you been?"

Pate smiled wholeheartedly with his whole face, as if his dimples were just about to pop out of his face. His face was glistening slightly from his sweatyness from wearing his coat.

Jackie wentto the common area watching people reunite and such getting all happy. "Hey, it's all the chumps fro school" he snorted but in a joking manner. He lit a cigarette not giving a fuck about other people think of him doing it. "Whatcha doing here? " he asked smiling at everyone.

Dexter sighed and chuckled under his breath "Seems like most of the gang's here. And I see you haven't changed one bit, Moosie."

"I, for one, don't even know why I'm here. Funny; my dad's hardass nature finally resulted in something good, eh?"

He clicked his tuongue and winked. "You know it " he flicked some ash in some sink near him. "My probation officer said I should go to school again"

Madi listened, noticing how different their paths were andsighed. Upon hearing Marcs hobbies though, she took interest. For a shy soul, she hoped he knew how therapeutic music is. She herself was tone deaf and relies on beats and counting strokes per breath for solace. "You say that like its nothing! Not everyones musically talented, you know!" She scolded gently and playfully. "What are you all going into?"

"Probation officer? What'd you do this time?" Dex laughed slighly, some amusement in his voice. Jackie was probably the only 'thug' Dex admired simply due to the fact that the guy wasn't high and mighty. Most of them so-called 'gangsters' were.

"Computer science." The brown haired teen answered Madi, "The folks back home made me come." He added begrudgingly, "At least now it looks like the year will be better than I expected. Right Marc?" He smiled at him, guessing the guy felt more at ease now.

"And holy crap Pate, I barely recognize you. What's up?"

Jackie rolled his eyes. "In possesion of drugs...again" he shrugged it off. Dex was always the goodie goodie. He heard his studies. "I'm studying food" he heard Pate. "Hey room mate" he called out finishing his own cigarette. "Let's get some food"

Pate stood up from the floor and wiped the sweat from his face with his sleeve. He looked over to Dex, still with a whole faced smile and said in a cheesy Italian American accent,"Yea, see, I've been good, read, YEAA." He made an odd face that really stressed the fact that he was just kidding around.

He turned over to Moose and said,"Yeah, dude, sure. I'm starving, I haven't eaten in a couple of hours. Hope they have good food here, I can't remember anything about the food here, from the open house when I came here I mean." You're already lying to them? It's been two days since you have had anything to eat, you're probably really pale or something. You were too cheap to shell out for expensive meals in the major cities you stopped in, and too distracted by your surroundings to eat anywhere else.

He raised a brow to Moose and the others and pointed a thumb in the direction of the food court,"Cafe?" Moose seems a bit colder than before, what has he been up to?

Taking a quick sip of his coffee, Dex noticed that Pate was rather pale. He shrugged; maybe the guy hasn't eaten for a while.

"Sure." He said, "Although there's like a bazillion people in there."

Marcus eyed Jackie uneasily, he was always a little more timid when around the other teen. Especially now, he gave off such a fearful vibe. Through out the conversation he stayed silent like he would at most points. You learned more when you where quiet, you noticed different things.

Marcus took a small sip of his tea his eyes darting from each person as they spoke until the topic of getting food was brought up. His gaze fell on the crowded cafeteria his foot beginning to tap quietly as he stood still, it giving off his excess energy. Before nodding in agreement with with Dexter,

"A diner is near here, It won't be as cheap but I'll pay..." He suggested looking at his feet.

Dexter chuckled somewhat nervously, "Yeah, I think the Diner would be a better idea. Here we'd probably have to wait for fifteen or so hours to get any food."

Pate scratched his head, I'll feel awful if I let Marcus pay, but I think I'll feel even more awful if I skip another meal.

Pate finally lowers his smile for a moment and said, "Sounds good, man, but I can't let you pay. I've got enough money to pay for myself." Fool, turning down what is being handed to you.

He gestures towards the hall with his thumb once again, "Lead on, Marcus. I could eat the crotch of a dead horse right now." Seriously, what the hell was that?

He looked over at Dex and saw he was giving him a weird look, but he ignored it, "You've got a point there, Dex."

"I'll buy my own food then..." he walked to the door frame. "Then let's haul ass and get some " he called out already cutting through the cafe. "Hold on one sec' he said nearing the middle of the empty counter of the cafe. It was full of fruit, Free food, hell yeah. He loaded his sweatshirt full of fruit and met outside with the others. He looked at Pate. "Hey man...you ok?" he looked horrible and skinny.

Madi silently agreed and decided to let the others go get food. She figured the guys probably would want to catch up, themselves. She started to walk back to her table with coffee.

Pate shot Moose an uncomfortable look, trying to get him to drop the topic, then looked at the almost emptied fruit bowl. He wasn't really crazy about what Moose did, but whatever. He looked across the cafe and saw a familiar face, he was excited, another friend.

He yelled in a light German accent, "Herr Baker! Come on over!" He dropped the accent and began again, "We are heading over to a diner! Where are you going?" He thought he looked like an idiot yelling across a crowded cafeteria, he did, he definitely did. Where is she heading, is she trying to avoid us or something?
