Marcus stared at the sickly skinny Pate his gaze trailing on him a moment as he awaited a response. His floral shoes beginning to walk towards the entrance of the school only to be halted when Pate called after Madelyn. Feeling foolish for not noticing her absence he bit his lower lip foot tapping as he waited for her to appear by them once more. Marcus hoped no one would protest his act of kindness, it was known that he lived in a pretty prestigious household though no one had ever been over there. So it was often that he'd be the one with the money, though he didn't show it off.
 
Madi looked back over and laughed, coming back over to them. She wanted to pay for herself or better yet not get anything. Still, it would be nice to spend more time with them. "Hey! I thought I could get away while you were distracted. Ah, I failed." She faked a dramatic personality... or more so than hers already.
 
Moose caught on calling in the German accent too. "Ja, Baker come" he encouraged to get food. Pulling out an orange of his pocket. He could pay for dinner since he got a job at the record store. He offred a stolen Banana to Marcus. "Banana or fruit anyone?" he opened his pockets for free fruit.
 
Pate nodded at Madi, she's acting weird. I thought she hated to be alone.


Pate turned around and walked through the door behind Marcus, "Lead on brother, I have no idea where this place is."


He heard Moose's offer for fruit and ground his teeth, he was concerned about Moose. They were barely outside of the cafe and he was already giving away the food he took. He replied to Moose,"Nah, Bra. I'm alright." He was happy that Moose caught onto the act that he put on for Madi.
 
Madi caught Pate's look and attempted to play it off with a big cheesy grin. A lot has happened since they last met each other.. but she didn't want to feel thought about.. well, not like that at least. "Im not really hungry, but Im cool with tagging along... thats if I don't ruin the guy time thing. in fact.." She got up on her tip toes and buffed out her chest, flexing. It was all over when she started laughing again and she deflated.
 
Moose nodded and followed people to the diner. "You sure it's free " he was used to stealing from his past. But, the past brought him to steal so this been ingrained since young. He could feel his veins twitching for more juice. moose looked at his jugular veins and rolled his sleeves down hiding his marks.
 
Marcus looked down at the banana as he began to walk once more and waved no apologetically,


"No thank you." He turned around when the steps of Madelyn echoed from behind them and peaked over his shoulder in time to see her puff out her chest and flexing her almost nonexistent muscles. Instantly loosing it he snorted into his hands laughing whole heartily for the first time in awhile.
 
Pate, slightly dizzy, looked back at Madi puffing out her chest and such. He stared blankly at her. There is really a joke here that I'm just not getting.


He looked over at Marcus and was certain of that thought. He nodded his head in the direction of where he assumed the diner was and continued his walking.
 
Hearing the laughter, Madi exhaled and sighed. She.. couldn't act weird in front of them. Only the good kind where she was more than willing to be the butt of any joke. "Hehe... so are we close?"
 
Marcus nodded yes to Madelyn as the familiar cafe with the title Pockets in an almost 60s styling came into view. Inside some tables where token up by other students who had the same idea as them. Entering through the push open glass doors they where instantly approached by a brunette teen with a smile which begged for a tip.


"How many?" She questioned eyeing each of their faces until Marcus built up the courage to state the simple number,


"Five.." With the response the girl grabbed the correct amount of menus and led them to a booth before leaving them to decided for drinks and their meal.

"Hey, Patenstein, you sure you're okay? I'm sure there's a stretcher we can get you from the nurse's office. Heard they're pretty easy on the eyes too." Dex joked with a short laugh while sipping on his coffe. "Oh, thanks." He offered a smile to Moose before taking a banana. Having finished his coffee, he threw the empty plastic cup into a trash can like a pro NBA player... and missed horribly.


"Yeah, no. I'm not trying out for the team." He said with a shake of his head as he picked up the cup and let it fall into the trash.


"God, I'm famished. Let's go." He could pay for his own food easily; heck, with his online work he could probably buy a house by now. He just didn't want to pass up the good gesture from Marc.

Sitting down, Madi didn't even bother look at the menu. She knew she would just be getting a water at most anyways. Sitting down, she smiled at everyone subconsciously, still amazed somehow they managed to come across each other.
 
Pate sat down in the only seat with tears in it at the table. It adds character to the seat, who knows, this seat could be my new thing or something. He took off his jacket and hung it on the back on the seat, it drooped to the floor, then looked over at Dex and waved nonchalantly in the air, as if to fan him away. "Dexter, it's all good. I'm a bit hungry is all." He looked down at the menu and scanned for the cheapest items on the menu.
 
Sitting across from Pate, Dex also picked up a menu, eyeing the available foods. Humming to himself, he looked up from the menu to the others, "What're you guys getting?"

Madi shrugged. "Im not hungry. I ate before I got here. You?" Well, if sugar free black coffee was a meal it would be true. In a way she felt guilty. She held a bit of.. baby fat when she knew them. It was evident losing it led to her social successes but there were some parts to her attempt of becoming better that were best kept to herself. She tapped her fingers, drumming them in a perfect rhythm, looking at Pate in particular. He looked practically starving.
 
Dexter hummed once more as his attention was brought back to the menu. Before he could say anything, a particularly loud yawn escaped him. The coffee was leaving his system faster than he thought it would, and he chuckled sheepishly.


"Start off with some black coffee I guess. And, of course, what's a Diner without burgers. A cheeseburger it is!" He said with a weaker voice than anticipated. He really should have taken at least a few winks. The last time he slept was probably three days ago, he reckoned.

Why does everyone keep looking at me like that? He barely looked up from the table where he never picked up from the table and said quietly, "Apples, I'm getting two Granny Smith apples. They are fifty cents each, not going to get much better than that. He began to tap his fingers in tune to "Fraulenin" by Pale Young Gentlemen, a song he has had in his head for about a month. He was snapped out of his trance by Dex yelling weakly. "Good on you, Dex. That sounds good to me." He began to wonder what was going on with his friends, to him it seemed like everyone was acting so unnaturally lately, he thought this based on his past experiences with them.
 
Marcus' eyes skimmed the menus surface his tea still in hand beside him. He wasn't going to need a drink thankfully, he thought as he flipped the menus over to reveal a whole section of vegetarian choices. Letting out a sigh of relief he simply chose a salad instead of anything to messy.


When a yawn met his ears he looked up pushing his glasses up his nose.


"No computer tonight. Get some sleep..." He ordered quietly, it wouldn't be very smart if Dexter was to fall asleep in the middle of class tomorrow.

Madi looked at Pate and huffed. "Thats not enough. You are a big boy Patenstein and you will eat like one!" She attempted to scold. It sounded like a poor joke, but two apples was not enough for the gentle jock.
 
Dexter chuckled quietly, "Wish I could, Marc, wish I could. Gotta help my dad pay the bills." He lied. While, in truth, he did help his family via online means, there was a different kind of dillema plaguing him now.


"Yeah, Patenstein. Eat up, big boy." Dex snickered slightly at the sight of Madi scolding him.


"Just like old times."

Pate puffed out a breath, and nodded in disagreement with Madi and Dexter. He leaned back in his chair a bit in a way that the front two legs of his chair were off of the ground about an inch. He raised his voice and said, "Waitress!" She walked over and asked for their orders.


"Two Granny Smiths, please, and a glass of water if you could. If you could just bring over a pitcher, that would be magnificent." He showed almost no genuine gratitude towards her.


"Alrighty, Fellas, time to order."
 
Madi rolled her eyes and smiled at the Waitress. "Haha, I had a big meal day. Ice water for me please!" Just bite it down. The scale and your new bathing suit will be grateful. She swept dark brown strands behind her ear and gave her best awkward charm smile. It was natural for her to use it on strangers.
 
Marcus' gaze fell on Pate questionably, he was fairly thin his skin wrapped tightly around his fingers. About to say something, he suddenly felt the eyes of the waitress on him. Straightening his back he nervously squeaked out,


"Garden Salad with Italian please...Thank you."


Marcus tugged at the edges of his sleeves feeling awkward around his seemingly lost friends that where brought back together by fate.

Dex leaned on the table, placing his chin on his palm, "Coffee, black, three sugars. A cheesburger too. Thanks."

The waitress looked around the table and nodded,


"I'll be right back with your drinks and apples." She informed them with a strong smile before turning and leaving behind the counter.
