Wormwood
O' how the moon has risen!
Want to RP something spooky? Want something...scary?
Hey there! Thank you for checking my recruit out! Despite my friendly demeanor, I'm looking to write something in the horror genre. I love mixing any amount of other things into the rp- but my main focus here is horror and world building! I'm not looking to do romance with light horror, or anything of the like. I'm talking spooky. Creature features? Supernatural Thrillers? Claustrophobic nightmares? Or maybe my favourite....Cosmic horror? You can count me in! Especially when we can get some great character and world development going. It's not just about the scares, it's about the vibes. To be frank, I want something dreadful. Something suspenseful, something that will lead to horrors unknown. Romantically horrific, I would say. Our characters can run from it, embrace, or fall to it together- that's up to us!
I'm looking for long term RP partners, who understand that sometimes things get difficult and replying isn't always my priority. Despite that, I can extend the same courtesy and understandings to you! We're all just people after all, and RPing is just a hobby of mine. Though don't be fooled, I am very passionate about it! So here's some info about me, my rules, and then some of the stuff I am into! If you have an idea of your own that feels similar, please pitch it! I'm always open.
After you've read the important info, feel free to DM me if you're interested! Don't hesitate to reach out if any of this looks like fun!
- I'm 21, almost 22
- I use He/They pronouns
- I live/work in PST (Pacific Standard Time)
- I'm an artist, but I mostly just doodle
- My main interests in rps are world and character building
- Passionate about aesthetic, design, and good vibes
- Replies aren't always regular- but I am always available OOC.
- I like dumb memes. Doesn't mean I can't be serious though, don't worry!
- I don't RP with minors, I'm sorry!
- If your pronouns/age aren't readily accessible, please tell me them! Age for the above reason, and pronouns so I know how to address you!
- Adding to that, I don't RP underage characters or write anything like high school plots. Kid side characters are all fine and normal, but otherwise it's a no.
- I will always ask about triggers and topics to avoid. Or you can just tell me outright, that's cool too! Gotta make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe.
- Literate, multi paragraph responses are necessary. I'm pretty loose with the nitty gritty writing technicalities- I'm not here to critique your writing.
- OOC chat is a must. We gotta be able to communicate! Especially about rp decisions. I love chatting, too!
- Writing samples are not required, but I understand if you want one from me.
- Character sheets and face claims are not required. I don't have them often myself, but it's okay if you do!
- Romance is optional! Platonic writing can be just as rich and emotional.
- I enjoy writing queer/LGBTQ+ pairings overall.
- Ghost friendly!
I have a few important things I want to say about both writing, and myself as a writer. Please bear with me!
I love to write stories that deal with difficult topics such as mental health struggles, trauma, loss, and grief. I approach all of the sensitive topics with a lot of care, and from the perspective of someone who has experienced them personally. It doesn't mean my experience defines all others, and if you don't want these things in our rp I will entirely understand. I want our rp to be a safe space for both of us, while also being somewhere we can express ourselves.
I struggle with mental health, and have my whole life. Due to this, sometimes I will be absent. I've gotten better about alerting my partners, I really am trying. I'm almost always available OOC, even just to hang out! This is why I encourage OOC chat, because being able to communicate regularly with you would be ideal, if not necessary. That being said, sometimes I just won't be able to reply to an rp. Not on a regular schedule. Maybe not for awhile, depending on how bad things are going. There have been times where I've been absent for serious reasons, and do not have access to a computer. I know this is a deal breaker, and I understand if I've lost your interest! If I haven't, or if you're in the same boat, just know that I will accommodate you to the best of my abilities.
This is just a list of the genre specific ideas I'm into. Short and sweet. The highlighted ones are ones that I am going to jump right on to if you suggest them. The key thing is I'm really looking for something that both dedicates itself to the characters, and the setting they're in. I would love some existential dread, some loss of humanity, some deep terror that feels inescapable. That's always the best kind of terror, isn't it?
Genres
Apocalyptic, Cosmic, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Lovecraftian, Paranormal, Post Apocalyptic, Psychological, Romance, Sci-Fi, Splatterpunk, Supernatural, Suspense, Thriller
Pairings
Enemies to Lovers, Strangers to Lovers, Grieving together, Humanoid/Human, Robot/Human, Afflicted and Healthy, Both are afflicted by something strange, Staying together to survive, and the like.
Ideas
Getting trapped on an alien planet, a deep unnatural forest, trapped in a lab, on the edge of a foggy town, in a liminal space, or something equally unnerving.
Sticking together during an apocalyptic event to survive after losing everything.
Being research assistants/scientists trying to figure out something that is slowly maddening them.
Trying to outrun creatures that human beings were never meant to encounter.
Being trapped in a cult worshipping a cosmic entity
I thought I'd exemplify some of the things that really inspire what I want to write, just incase you liked them too! I might add later, or change them, but thus far I like all of these things a lot. These are pieces of media that I've either hyper-fixated over, or adored aesthetic wise. This list doesn't cover all of my interests, and I'd love to hear some of yours!
Note: These are by no means examples of fandoms I'm rping in, but instead would love to pull inspiration or mechanics from.

This is super wip, seeing as I haven't been able to do a lot of character building recently. I no longer take one character and use it for all my rps, but I do take a lot of basic concepts that have excited me, and keep them around for possible characters later! This is an example of the WIP kind of character ideas I do, just to get an idea of the kind of scratchy style I'd probably show you! I'd show you my setting and creature designs...But I'm not so confident in them at the moment.
This is just a list of keywords that we could use to inspire plot ideas. They're not really anything in important, just things I end up writing and enjoying a lot.
