Graded [Yemaya City] (Caelia Barony) – Treasure in Ruins.

This RP is part of the Isekai Hell setting. Check the links above to learn more about it.
Please let me know if you wish to join this RP, so that I can help your character get an interesting entrance into the story and make sure they've got a goal being there.

What to expect out of character:
The posting pace will stick to 48 hour cycles for as much as possible (unless my highly susceptible to change IRL situation might force me to go slower to 96 hour cycles). The RP is not intended to last much longer than a month, possibly even lasting a bit shorter. It will be a mixture of Adventure with bits of Slice of Life and possibly Action/Combat, depending on who signs up.

Combat, when and/or if happening, will be a relaxed interpretation of Effectiveness measures. Cooldowns will apply strictly, clever writing can help make an otherwise low graded skill more useful, teamwork makes the dream work. Characters not posted with will be deemed to stand by and watch and/or merely take defensive measure to the best of their extend when applicable.

When relying on secondary skills such as to investigate something or to recall knowledge without actively using them in an ability, please mention them in your post. When using abilities, please put the ability in its full at the bottom of the post it's used in and keep track of Cooldowns.

Don't hesitate to ask me questions if you need more details or want to confirm things, regardless of whether that's for plot-reasons or OOC-reasons. (Sadly enough, I'm not flawless, so if I forget or miss stuff or get unclear about it, you're more than welcome to let me know as well.)

What to expect in character:
Rumours are spreading that a recently deceased noble from the city Yemaya had been hoarding treasure. The city is located in the former Thorne Barony (now Caelia Barony), located in Sadek County (former Sol Count) in the south-east of Ryke.

The city has been through a lot. First, one of its nobles brought a terrible curse, the Fell Blight, down upon the city. It spawned hostile creatures from other realms that endangered everyone and everything. After some battles and relief efforts, the city's balance was still in jeopardy, as many had died or were missing and one of the heroes ended up a murderer and vandal.

The latter, however, successfully created a project to raise the dead and bring back a lot of the missing, yet this went a little too well, causing the entire Sol County to be split off from Ryke. The city suddenly boomed in population. Ryke was quick to react to it, by executing count Light, excommunicating the hero Michael, disbanding their Order, chasing out the cultists and quickly appointing new people to fully reincorporate the territory. After all these events, the city eventually got left abandoned by most, some fleeing Ryke along with the cultists, some returning to their homes, some unable to live there due to their homes not having been rebuilt, others still fearing that the Fell Blight lingers and even more people being unable to cope with the death of lord Light and excommunication of Michael.

Nowadays, only a few people remain in Yemaya, making it a ruined city with the population size of a village. Between the messy modern history of the city and chaotic state in which it was left, the new Baroness Caelia decides to visit the few survivors still living there, both to see how she can aid them and to have some people look for the rumoured treasure. After all, such a prize would tremendously aid her barony. To decrease the amount of people freelancing their way to the treasure and getting into fights over it, the Adventurer's Guild is officially asked to put out a quest to help recover it and to ensure it doesn't lead to parties fighting over it, for a modest yet worthwhile finder's fee.

Current Cast:

conman2163 conman2163Retili Loxinofican
Returning the the origin of his trauma, he's got his past to face whilst feeling out his 'new form' that's shorter and stronger alike.

DuckPrince DuckPrince - Micah Ambrose
Considering his desire to buy land for his future horses, money is needed. Deciding to help Retili out for a modest wage and perhaps hoping to get his own share of the treasure they're after, Micah tags along with the group as they are heading for Yemaya.

Elvario Elvario - Regula Caelia
The recently appointed baroness, who's been visiting all villages in her barony, with the remnants of Yemaya included. She's planning to see how she can aid those that remain in the city first and foremost, hoping to have others take care of the treasure hunt. Secondarily, she's secretly hoping to learn of the fate of an old acquaintance, an aerial named Hera, who might give her some of the flying lessons she desperately needs to grow more accustomed to flying at full power, after having barely managed to start with the basics of flying a few weeks ago.

Faynorae FaynoraeSariel & Salboros
Who doesn't want to go treasure hunting and earn some coin? Even better, Salboros believes one of the rumoured Holy Feathers might even be found here! If treasure-hunting can be done whilst making some friends and connections despite being mean in the process, all the better!

Uasal UasalDelta
When the opportunity presented itself to get an 'in' into the Adventurer's Guild by going after the treasure hunt request, the decision was easy. It'd be a good way to start getting her alternate identity integrated and perhaps pick up some coin whilst at it.

RavenSong RavenSong - Aria
Having been sent to Yemaya already by her father, she's on a mission to learn more about the rumoured records of using [Spirit] magic by the previous baron. She met up with Hera, the Aerial Scout first, ending up going through some tasks with her until she'd learn where to even start looking.

Rev IX Rev IXRyan
Likely going to be able to put his blacksmithing talents at work once more, for those remaining in Yemaya might need all the help they can get. Though perhaps he finds a secret talent for treasure-hunting while there?

TheTimePiece TheTimePieceTeuihua
Big, strong and ever-loyal, Teuihua is about to see ruins not of his own civilization, but of one far more recent. Perhaps being confronted with ruins of a civilization fallen so recently will end up forcing him to be confronted with the loss of his own.

zlexis zlexisEleanor
A starting mage hoping to learn some things on magic after hearing rumours of books on it remaining in the treasure, whilst making some friends and connections to the Adventurer's Guild while at it.

It was about four days after their adventure in Kirkwall concluded. They'd taken a day to travel back to Stonewall and another few days of resting there. Amanda had decided to stay behind in order to work in directing wall reconstruction (putting the 'Wall' back in Stonewall) and getting the first stages of crop rotation implemented. The same went for Ezekiel, Ethel and Sherwood, with Regula decided they were better suited to aiding Amanda and keeping an eye on Stonewall.

For her and those with her, however, it was time to visit the last 'village' in the Barony. One that Regula had already visited once, while it was still a city. She honestly wasn't sure what to expect of it in its current state, other than what she'd been given from the few reports she'd gotten about it. Namely that some hardy folks were still making the most out of living there, but that it wasn't exactly a profitable place.

She'd decided to keep the others company by walking, rather than flying over (not that she trusted herself to fly long distances yet), so they were going at a steady pace thus far. It was difficult for Regula not to be in a good mood, when they came upon a particularly beautiful part of the road. “Being out in places like this is really calming, is it not?” She'd ask the others. Then again, she wondered if a construct like Teuihua would feel the same and if Amanda's mind would currently be able to relax and enjoy the scenery. Perhaps not. She herself was able to keep her growing nerves about facing Yemaya in check thus far, at the least.

Hera
tdgiL1q.jpg

“Aria, there's someone over here!” Hera called out, flying high up in the sky to patrol the city. Having ran into Aria the day before, she'd barely gotten the girl up to speed with everything that happened in Yemaya, so she figured asking Aria to help out was the easiest way. It's why they'd been starting early this morning, going through the city and checking ruins for any signs of criminals hiding in them, monsters remaining, new monsters arriving... So far, everything was perfectly peaceful. That had been kept this way thanks in part to the new 'mayor' Hera told Aria about, someone the girl had yet to meet.

It's why, when it boiled down to things, they were mostly just being delivery girls going through the city to keep in contact with the folk living in some of the few houses that were still in decent enough condition and checking up on everyone. It's what Hera had been doing on a near-daily basis.

This time, however, someone new had entered. That'd be Sariel and Salboros, who'd been wandering into the city in search of where in the world this quest for riches was organised from. Perhaps they were too early? Either way, this far, they'd only found ruins and more ruins, with aside of more ruins. The one that seemed to enjoy it the most was Salbaros. Then again, he just seemed to enjoy everything.

Salboros

“Little Angel, look! The city. It's ruins! All ruins!” The creature spoke. “Where there's ruins. There's treasure!” He reaffirmed their reason for being here, until they were spotted by someone flying. That's when he figured it'd be best to stick behind Sariel momentarily, just in case this wasn't a friendly flying thing. They hadn't spotted Aria yet though, who would have to follow the sound of Hera's voice to catch up first.

What bit of commotion they were causing echoed through the empty city streets, far enough to eventually catch the attention of another adventurer that was joining in for the treasure hunt. 'Sasha' would be able to find them by simply following their voices, if she desired to do so.

It had been an eventful few days, it seemed Aria was quite the lucky gal having somehow escaped the clutches of her fathers manor once more. However, this time things was different. During their meeting they once again clashed to the highest crescendo of verbal confrontations ranging from accusations of not ‘living up to her highest potential’ and reprimanded for ‘serving a ragged house with faint traces of nobility’ Aria defended herself and hers with equally valid albeit righteous reasons.

Yet before Aria brought herself to do something she’d regret Marcus, her father, gave the sword maiden a very important detail about who she really was, in hopes to get her to ‘return to her senses’. Pointing to a giant map in his chambers at none other than Yemaya. Marcus had revealed that a most complex ritual had taken place, one where very few knew of and even fewer dared to perform. Her father had challenged her, telling her that the original soul of the body she now possessed was in fact likely present within such a place. It would prove to be the most conclusive way to settle things once and for all. However, she wondered just how much Marcus was telling the truth, as he had lied in the past already.

Regula had planted a few seeds in her mind as well, perhaps there was a way to fix things with her father, or so she felt convinced. She trusted Regula, and although it was a bit difficult for her to process emotions, she also trusted her best friend to give her good advice, especially when it came to such things. However it wouldn't be so, the conflict remained, and the unending demands for her to return to her previous life and become her truest self had become very much the only topic he was interested in regards to his daughter.

Storming out once more in her usual fit, Leo offered some consolation, whilst also arranging a carriage ride to Yemaya.

--

After what seemed like a great deal of details regarding the state of Yemaya, Aria awoke early in the morning just shortly before the angel Hera had roused from sleep herself. Her legs never failed her however, even though they would follow her nervous system just as her normal legs would emulating her slight grogginess as the sword maiden rubbed her eyes. "Right." She whispered before stretching briefly, trying her sword to her waist and heading out of her tent. She'd adjust the fingerless gloves on her hands pulling them back a bit at her palm.

She began looking around, through the ruins, she'd find scraps of remains from battle, large ruins and broken sculptures that adorned the cities streets. The remnants of a promising barony. The scar in her heart seemed to ache for the count who was assassinated. She'd quickly shake her head back to its senses as she refused to go down that path of hopelessness. Namely, the possibility of that ever happening to anyone she loved again.

As she made the rounds Hera had mentioned before, Aria had managed to cover a bit of ground. Pushing a few large stones over that covered an entrance to an entrance she drew her katana and looked inside. "Anyone in here?" She called out, before her eyes quickly scanned the place and walked back out. "Clear!" Aria called out as she put her sword away.

After her security errands she returned to where most of the residents that refused to move on, helping in whatever way she could, she had mostly been delivering things from place to place. Bowing her head dutifully before taking their items and doing the same after delivering them. Much of this lifestyle provoked thoughts of her days working as a barmaid in Highgrove. Perhaps, after this mission she would pay her hometown a visit. Although, perhaps, the stripping of her title had likely tarnished their image of her, yet, she missed her old friends.

As she appeared to day dream a bit her eyes shot up at the aerial flying high above her who called out a notice to her, "Someone?" She called back before running towards the direction the angel womans voice was coming from. Teleporting up and then back down a few formations and ruins, she eventually arrived to the person there. A hand was at her sword while another remained ready to draw daggers. "State the reason for your presence here or ill-" She cut herself short. "Wait.. I know you!" She exclaimed, surprised with a bit of a smile.

Retili Loxinofican
Character Sheet
DuckPrince DuckPrince Uasal Uasal Rev IX Rev IX

Retili strode along in the sunlight for the first time in his life on this planet. His stature, to those perceptive enough, had shortened by a few inches and his wiry frame had achieved muscle in many areas. He had no cowl to his cloak, no gloves adorning his hands. In fact his outfit was quite the opposite from what he normally wore. He wore dark blue tunic with short sleeves with the crest of Regula emblazoned on his chest. The shield of the crest displayed a light blue background with a pair of doves wings outstretches as if in flight. Silver thread glimmered faintly as it highlighted the edges of the shield. A black leather belt with the mithril dagger buckled there in a similar colored leather sheathe. His brown satchel was at his side and his green cloak fluttered about him lightly, open down the front. He wore a pair of black trousers and brown leather boots to complete the ensemble. It was a stark departure from the previous all black clothing he wore. His face, not typically visible before this, had a black scar that crossed it's length, and a well manicured silver goatee and neatly trimmed short cut hair were starkly opposed to his eyes. It was one of the more noticeable changes. His previously yellow irises had shifted to a color akin to blood.

He was here because his Baroness was here. Nothing more and nothing less. He had already briefed the captain of his guard on the Baroness's intentions. The fifteen Zentail in his guard would split off and go to the hill that they had camped at last they had been in Yemaya. They would fortify the camp as well they could and put up tents for the party. It wasn't long before the guard split off from the group at an almost invisible nod from Retili. The scribe was loath to sleep in that same place he had been attacked, but it was the most defensible position in the area. It would be the safest place to camp if any of the Fell Blight truly remained. Retili looked through the reports in his hand once again, as if he had read through them a thousand times before. Or written them himself for that matter. Everything that had happened those fateful days was chronicled in these papers. He returned them to the leather folder he had drawn them from and placed them back in the satchel at his side. He turned his head to Regula as she spoke. His words was depressing. "Forgive my sour mood, but the ruin of Yemaya still lays heavy on my mind Lady Caelia. I find it hard to be so cheerful. It reminds me of how reckless some in power can be, whether they rectify their mistakes or not."

  • Interactions ~ Elvario Elvario [Salboros/Hera(?)] | RavenSong RavenSong [Aria]
How could this be? Hm? Sariel had been quite distressed for the past few days... He didn't even know how he was still alive and how even made it here. From the weather somewhere in the beast's republic, to now here, Sariel found it miraculous that he hadn't somehow frozen to death... Or something. Despite that, he had a clear idea of who to blame.

That stupid pocket monster-looking creature who told him that his 'sources' said that one of the holy feathers may have been in that horrible icy wasteland. Then, it changed its mind drastically after he had (not) single-handedly taken out an entire cave of butt-ugly bandits. However, they didn't really receive the reward and renown that Sariel may have expected. Whatever! He had things to do, and he had things to do fast!

That mascot thing had informed the child that it may be a better idea to return to Ryke. The creature's call was much to be correct! Apparently, this ruined place had something to do with a mysterious treasure! As the thing suggested, the treasure may have something to do with the feathers. Better yet, the treasure itself could be one of the feathers! Sariel honestly didn't know, he mostly just wanted to know what the treasure was in the first place. Gold? Perhaps jewels? A major cool magical death sword forged from fallen stars? Who knows! It was exciting to think about.

Looking around, Sariel found this place somewhat... Pretty? Maybe it was the lack of people. The shining sun was not very pretty however, it was blinding and annoying. Sariel's skin and the sun didn't get along well... Well, mostly in his past life. However, the child very much doubted that this world is something like sunscreen. It probably did, but he definitely wouldn't be getting his hands on it for cheap, and unfortunately for the child, he was broke. Dead broke.

The child sighed with the odd creature's enthusiasm. "Am I a ruins treasure digger? We oft' seem to be rummaging through 'em... (And in the blazing sun, jeez.)-" The child covered his eyes from the sun, putting his hands above his brows to form some sort of visor. It wasn't that effective. "Honestly, it's such a bogue," Sariel complained. "Ain't we gonna explore like... A wizard's tower or somethin'? That'd be like line." The child continued to look around, he was quite unsure whether he was in the right place. All the floating stuffed toy ever did was cheerfully praise everything, and that made it quite difficult to know if they were on the right track.

Especially considering the child's poor navigation skills. Sariel was caught off guard by the sound of people's voices, jumping a little at the unexpected break of solitude. He'd thought this place was desolate, why were there more people here?! Who was the dweeb flying in the sky like a pigeon? Sariel squinted to attempt to make them out but ultimately failed due to his horrible farsight. When Sariel heard someone coming up to them, he quickly grabbed Salboros and held it like a stuffed toy.

"(Pretend yer' a toy, 'kay?)" He'd whisper, and turn around quickly. He'd be surprised to be pointed a blade at, Sariel would be very unenthusiastic about it, [Intimidation F] glaring quite bitterly at the person for a moment. A scornful look, which would quickly then turn into surprise at the mention that this person knew him. They also had hair the colour of a grandma. "Huh? Who's this granny?" Sariel stated in the most brazen tone ever, with a surprised expression. "Who'd point daggers at a defenceless innocent lil' girl, aye? Like have a cow, do I really even look like any threat at all, huh?" Sariel again stated without any mind, his face contorting into a slight revolt.

However, as he thought about it, it probably wasn't a good idea to give off a horrible first impression. Sariel tightened his hold on Salboros ever so slightly, clutching onto his rosey-coloured sleeve. Avoiding eye contact and sighing briefly. "Right- ehh... Sorry for my foul words, Miss Granny-" Sariel gave a slight bow, for what he said at first was quite ill-mannered (Even if he believed it true), and being threatened with daggers didn't really give him the security to continue bombarding this rando arasa with blatant insults.

"Ya' said you know me, right? I think it'd be best fer us to re-meet, 'Cause I don't know your face." Sariel replied, standing up straight, now with a less telling expression. With eyebrows furrowed, Sariel did his best to sound more friendly. "I'm... eh- Sariel. (Though you probably know that if you really know me, suspicious granny,) I heard these rumours 'bout treasure, so uh... I'm here. To uhm... find the treasure." Sariel awkwardly proclaimed, doing his best to keep a straight face. Honesty was the best policy! Sometimes. Okay, maybe it isn't the best policy all the time but, when an old lady threatens you with literal daggers, who wouldn't tell the truth in this situation? "Who are you? And... Who's that human pigeon in the sky?" Sariel looked around for a quick moment, "Oh, and by the way, Where is this?" The child asked.

Teuihua during this trip to Yemaya made a point of staying near the Baronness once again. As far as he was concerned he was there to protect her and assist where it was desired for him too. While she was able to relax, Teuihua was one who tended to be on alert regardless of where he was. Every now and again he'd look at the scenery around him. While even as a construct Teuihua could understand that their environment was quite beautiful, from a practical standpoint it did not serve to benefit him much, even if he could understand that it could bring joy to his organic companions, and even Teuihua himself to an extent, Teuihua's mindset which he was designed with inherently made him prone to looking at the world in an analytical way accessing what would further his objectives at any given time. Regardless of his vigilant alertness as he lumbered along, it did please him to hear Regula make the that comment with her chosen tone of voice because it signified that she was at ease to an extent at the moment and was glad to be there, just as Teuihua was glad to be there with those he had made a habit of traveling with and assisting.

"Yes I will admit that this is a nice environment." the construct replied with some warmth to his voice.

But then he looked to Retili, who frankly he was glad was there. His units added a great deal of extra security, and he seemed like someone who was genuinely dedicated to the Baroness's interests as well. Someone who from Teuihua's perspective was extremely good at staying on task much like Teuihua tried his best to do, so from that perspective the construct certainly respected Retili in all of those ways. With Retli mentioning that Teuihua couldn't help but also feel something like sadness wash over him, feeling a duality of feelings in that moment. While he was glad they all were there and well at the same time.

It was apparent that given what was said unlike prior times Teuihua was much more talkative on his own volition this time around.

"However I will admit that part of me agrees with Retili. You have all heard the tale of my civilization and how his feelings resonate with me. I have seen my fair share of destruction and it is not always easy to come to terms with seeing how many livelihoods have been so negatively impacted. Seeing the destruction of that rat mancer earlier was enough to make me feel the same way, and Yemaya I am sure I will feel the same, there is a sense of loss. With this said, I do admire your ability to exude positivity, as it is clear to me that this realm even in this time still has many of the issues which many have suffered from in mine. "

He then looked forward once more. "Even so with this subject matter I strongly believe that even when faced with the cruelty of the world, you can view situations like these as opportunities to rebuild, and help people who need it. Help restore some semblance of normalcy in their lives. I truly hope that what you have heard is true and that this expedition is successful Baroness, I do believe if it is true then we can help many of the afflicted." Teuihua concluded.

'Delta'
(Alternate Identity F in effect)

Sasha Leonard - [Adventurer] [Scout] [Kind] - A common Adventurer.

Delta, having just finished her training with the assassin's guild now found herself tasked with quite a bothersome job. It had been decided by the high-ups of the guild that she would be granted an alternate identity as an adventurer to serve as a passport with which she could infiltrate locations in order to carry out certain other tasks assigned to her. Delta was not alone in this though, many of her peers had been given similar identities and were tasked with fleshing them out just as she was. Even her sister, Echo, had been assigned the job of an adventurer as a cover. Still, the woman couldn't help but wish she had been granted an easier role, some sort of noble maid or housewife. It was much easier to catch someone off guard when playing the role of someone typically perceived as weak, the issue with having an adventurer as her cover was that people would consider her quite the opposite. It had its benefits of course, like freedom of movement without suspicion, but still, for Delta, she viewed a search for lost gold to be a waste of her talent and time.

Alas, she wasn't stupid or suicidal enough to share that opinion with her office, she would do as she was told for now. How hard could playing the kind and just adventurer be anyway? So long as she smiled, maintained her manners and got on with her job, she'd be out of here with her first mission under her belt in no time. Actually, with that in mind, the woman couldn't help but wonder who would finish faster, herself or Echo. Deciding to make a competition out of it.

With Yemaya in sight, Delta took a few minutes to prepare herself. Activating (Alternate identity F) Delta took on the persona of: Sasha Leonard - [Adventurer] [Scout] [Kind] - A common Adventurer.
As a scout, it was unlikely Sasha would find herself tasked with anything too bothersome. At least that's what she told herself given the job posted was to investigate the ruins of Yemaya for a lost vault. Sasha did suppose there was a slight chance bandits, thieves or otherwise may show up at some but even then so long as she remained alert the threat they posed was unlikely to be anything major. If worse came to worse, she could always flee and strike back when they lowered their guard anyway.

And so with little on her mind worrying her about the task at hand, Sasha made her way toward the ruined city, only to stop a few paces behind a child? A very rude one at that! Baffled by the child's confidence, Sasha looked to the air in search of this humanoid pigeon the child spoke of. And true to her word there flew a valkyrie quite some distance above the small group that had formed. Was that the baroness? Sasha couldn't say for certain at such a distance but airing on the side of caution, Sasha decided it best to give her new identity her all. After all, the Baroness was rumoured to have proficiency with the appraisal skill and were it high enough her identity would be mute!

Smiling awkwardly Sasha offered Aria a polite wave and chuckle from a distance. "Sorry to interrupt, but I'm looking for whomever it is that's overseeing the Adventurer Guild request relating to the hidden vault. My name is Sasha Leonard. Would you like to check my Guild ID? I'm terribly sorry if I missed a previous checkpoint, I travelled through the forest you see". Sasha's eyes wandered to Aria's weapon and back to her eyes again, feigning signs of discomfort with her body language. "Perhaps I should leave? You seem to have your hands full with this lost girl".

Retili's changes hadn't gone unnoticed. Even shorter than before and more light-accepting. Those stood out the most. Ah, the eye-colour shift as well. All those changes, however, didn't seem to make him less burdened his the past in this area. “I can't blame you for thinking so, although I'd like to try keeping such thoughts at bay. The least thing the people there need is a dreary group of people arriving at their doorstep. If we're in good enough spirits and optimistic, we might be able to better their moods as well, should such a thing be needed.” There was one more thing she did worry about. “Before I forget, let me know if you need to take a break, okay?” She'd ask, remembering his freak-out near Kirkwall. She wasn't eager for a repeat of that, so she'd prefer him just taking a lot of breaks instead, if such was needed.

It was nicer to hear Teuihua confirm his liking of the area. So the construct could appreciate such things after all! That was good to know. “Rat... mancer?” She questioned, hearing him use a world unknown to her. “Even if the treasure isn't there, it'd be great to meet some of the people there. I'd also like to know what keeps them going, in a sense. They could've tried moving elsewhere, but they chose to stay there and apparently are making it work out. I'd gladly learn from how they're doing it.”

Then again, Teuihua's tale also made her wonder. “Do you feel the same way about your own situation? You've lost your previous situation, but helping out in this new one might be an opportunity all over? Regardless, I'd like to help you restore your own semblance of normalcy as well, you've more than proven you're a good friend to have around.”

She'd then turn to Ryan, whom she'd been wanting to ask something for a long time now. “Say, Ryan, I've been meaning to ask this. How did things turn out with Aileen? It was the talk of town how her dad wanted you to marry her, but I haven't been keeping up with the rumours afterwards. Did you manage to conquer her heart~?” She'd say, attempting to tease the guy a little by prying into his love-life.

That reminded her, she hadn't checked in with Micah in a while either. “Also, before I forget, did you find any land that'd suit your plans? If Amanda is to be believed, breeding quality horses for nobles could become a standard part of our economy. Once she's done with walls, crop circulations and her other plans, she'd probably be willing to help you out with it. It shouldn't be too difficult to set up some sort of contract that'd let you use some of the unused lands as grazing grounds, we'd just need to ensure no monsters our bandits could get to the animals.” Perhaps she was planning too far ahead, but still, it was nice knowing what everyone was striving towards and what the options were.

“A treasure digger? A ruins treasure digger? A rummaging ruins treasure digger! You'll be one! A great one!” The creature replied to the question with an ever-broad smile. “If there's feathers! If there's holy feathers in them! If there's holy feathers in the wizard towers! We'll go!” Upon being told to pretend being a toy, Salboros quickly froze up as realistically as he could (Deception F), but not before quickly turning his head a little with the loveliest twitching and snapping sounds to seem even more doll-like. Probably just in time not to be noticed..?

Hera

Upon seeing Aria confront the girl she'd spotted, Hera quickly checked the vicinity once more to ensure everything was safe, before slowly descending. After all, the new girl didn't seem hostile. She did seem... tough to deal with. Hera thought she liked children well enough, but this one might be a bit of an exception. Her reason for being her was confusing as well, especially considering Hera had missed parts of Sariel's reply due to landing a bit later. She'd look at Aria. “Is this girl with the Adventurer's Guild?” She'd heard something about a quest being sent out to them, but wasn't expecting people so young to show up for it. For now, she'd leave answering the girl's questions to Aria. That seemed a lot safer.

It'd also allow her to deal with the newcomer, who she curiously turned towards. “You'll probably want to meet with the mayor. I think he's supposed to meet with the baroness in this area later today. I'm afraid we don't have checkpoints set-up, with the city being as it is, but if you could show it to me, that would help.” She'd try to make the newcomer feel a bit more welcomed by showing her a smile. Anyone willing to help out here was going to be useful, after all. She'd need to help protect what remained, even if there was only a little of it left. It's the least she could do to honour the late lord Light's memory. “There's no need to leave, we're in one of the more frequently visited spots, so I'm sure the girl will find who she's looking for as well.”

Retili nodded to the baroness in respect. He understood her reasoning, but although he had not spoken it he had another fear. He did not want to lose another leader in this forsaken place. Then he drew the dagger and checked the blade. It seemed as unchanged as the day he had gotten it, but it did not stop him from checking it nonetheless. He returned it to it's sheathe and he seemed to perk up at a strange word Teuihua mentioned. A ratmancer? He considered that. It must be some strange rodent summoner.

The thoughts of fighting turned Retili to an ambition of his own that he had slowly been dreaming up. He wanted a barony of his own. He had the knowledge of business, warfare, and Academia required. He had no significant issues of heritage or scandal tied to him. He was relatively unknown. In fact the closest thing he got to scandal was his involvement as a member of Lord Light's court. That had been a while ago now however and he thought he might be able to bury that. What he needed was to garner political influence, and he had figured Regula to be that path. She was not one for noble etiquette and that would need to be addressed if she was to become a member of the higher echelons of society. A regrettable but necessary step to become more powerful. He began to remind himself that he had not acted with strict decorum himself these past couple of weeks. Though they had been a fun few weeks, he reflected that perhaps if he was going to continue down that path he would need to govern himself more rigorously. He would speak to Lady Caelia with the necessary respect about perhaps tutoring her on noble manners and etiquette at a later date.

With the quiet reflection finished he looked around at the group. "I am certain that for many citizens of Yemaya the prospect of staying and rebuilding is far more attractive than leaving. Many will have spent whole generations on this spot. It would be a second tragedy to them to have to leave the spot where their entire family history is rooted."

As Aria’s green orbs rested upon the childlike figure before her she flinched a bit, nearly drawing her sword upon feeling intimidated. But she resisted the urge to do so, only to be tempted further again when called a ‘granny’. However, that was a detail she recalled, “Hm.. i guess some people dont change..” She stated under her breath before making a shallow bow at Sariel. “..well met. Please forgive the stern inspection, i’m on patrol this morning.” The sword maiden was rather surprised to hear she wasn’t remembered by her, considering they’d been part of an order. “ Very well, If i must refresh your memory, and aren’t just toying with me, you’d do well to recall Count Linneus Lights gathering of knights. He hosted a small feast for the order.” Aria would tilt her head, wondering if Sariel recalled. “I’m glad to see you are well.” She said lastly before walking up to the child. “Hmm. Seem’s you might have grown a little.” She sighed quickly, “Or perhaps i remember you a bit shorter.”

Just then Aria would notice another right behind the child she was inspecting, this one was rather different, unfamiliar, yet somehow gave off a certain vibe. Like she wasn’t trusted. However, these were gut feelings, and only a whisper in Aria’s mind. When Hera landed, Aria turned to address the aerial, “Just one moment Hera, we can’t simply let whoever enter this vacinity without a proper inspection. The people here have already been through enough. I admire their courage and valor in residing here in spite of the complicated situation currenly ongoing. As marshal and military advisor to Lady Caelia, the safety of Yemaya is above all open contracts. At least, until the baroness herself makes her presence known.”

She saluted Sariel, “Welcome to Yemaya miss Sariel, please, excuse me.”

Walking up to the other woman, Aria examined her a bit closer, “Not so fast.” She said holding out her hand, “Guild ID please.” Not taking her eyes off of her, she used [Appraise B]. “So.. there’s a constract for a hidden vault in Yemaya? I’m assuming, finding it is the goal. Beyond that, it’s all yours for the taking?”

Gesturing her further into the settlement, “Please, after you. Hera will lead the way.” She glanced at Hera, gesturing her to get the newly arrived to the remnants of Yemaya’s citizenry.

"Inspection...? Patrol?" Sariel squinted, he didn't feel threatened. He couldn't carry anything considered contraband on him anyway. Seriously though, old folk are all way too on edge. He felt quite safe. Unless the thing he held may be carrying something dangerous on it. Was it dangerous? What even was it? Last time the woman said it was a fairy or something, right? Eh, it didn't really matter. Well, not to him at least.

Sariel felt it a bit off when the creature made twitching noises... Was it pretending to be a creaking porcelain doll or something? When he told the thing to act like a toy, the child expected it to just pretend to be limp like a stuffed toy... Not a doll with joints. Well, it was fine right? He didn't really specify what type of toy. A toy's a toy!

Sariel's eyebrow twitched with the mention of Linneus, was that who she was? One of those folk from the order? He'd groan silently, he was honestly trying to avoid it. He was only an initiate, and since his boss was presumed dead Sariel had no use to prove himself as a full member anymore. Who was going to pay him if the person who was supposed to be absent? "Ugh--" Sariel let out in annoyance, "I guess..." Sariel replied as nonchalantly as he could. At least this meant he probably wouldn't be a victim of being searched.

However, Sariel's face winced at her next statement. "Ah-" He looked at the woman with a fairly irritated expression, "EHHH?!" He let loudly escape him, "Hurl. Me. Out! I'm fer shur the same height, same me as I was like who knows how long ago! Ya' sure yer' didn't lose a few inches while letting all ya' hair go grey?! Huuh?!" Sariel blurted out at a fairly loud volume. Brows furrowed, and eyes twitching. The child felt quite offended.

Sariel's annoyance expanded out to the girl who had just appeared. She seemed like a ditz. 'Lost Girl'? "Lost girl?!" Sariel's thoughts escaped him, "Oi, dipstick, I'd have ya' know that I totally know where I am. AND--!" The child was about to correct this new individual about the part about him being a girl. Which was almost a mistake, because it was unfortunately true. Sariel was currently stuck in the body of a young girl. "Hmph! I'm just here to find something very important to me." Sariel rolled his eyes, as he stepped out of the way for Aria.

Judging from what the woman had said, this place is indeed Yemaya. Also known as the place that he was actually looking for currently. The granny head also mentioned someone else. Lady Caelia? Baroness? Jeez, are more old women gonna meet up here as well? What is this, a crochet club gathering?! He'd have to find that treasure or feather or whatever quickly and skedaddle. After all, old folk scared him.

Sariel raised a brow at the current situation. Apparently this Sasha person, perhaps the Baroness and some other dimwits were going to travel here to find some sort of hidden vault. Sariel assumed that was what the treasure was, and where it was contained. Seemed like he had competition... Well, hopefully, they weren't interested in feathers or something. Hopefully, the Feather just wasn't there, to begin with.

Either way, he couldn't be beaten by some crochet club grannies. As the mascot thing stated, Sariel was the bestest greatest rummaging ruins treasure hunter!... That sounded like an insult.

Micah had spent most of the travel quiet. He'd been convinced to come along, quietly carrying some hope he'd be able to gain some funds for himself. From listening to the baroness though.. Micah was now facing another problem. "I know this might come off as rude, Baroness.. But I would like to clear up any misunderstandings before they turn into quicksand for me." His brows furrowed lightly. "You're trying to tie me to your barony with contracts. And admittedly, that is not something I appreciate. I'm not going to tie myself to a place I have no roots or loyalty to. My business is independent by nature and if that makes it much more difficult to achieve what I want, so be it." He explained. "If I cannot independently buy and own the land I will use, I will leave elsewhere." He was certain his blunt words would sour the mood, but he didn't want more issues down the line from simply having to hold his tongue for someone else to save face. "The only contracts I will sign is one that I have say in, that does not put me at a disadvantage. If you need me to raise and train you a horse and wish a contract for it, I will happily do so. As long as it is not a detriment to me or the animal." Perhaps he rambled a bit.. Oh well.

'Delta'
(Alternate Identity F in effect)
Sasha Leonard - [Adventurer] [Scout] [Kind] - A common Adventurer.

Sasha wasn't all too surprised when Hera suddenly made her descent, after all the other guard had her hands full with the barbaric child. That being said the woman was sure to force herself to flinch in response, once again feigning an outward appearance of one who was uncomfortable with the current situation. Even taking a few moments to breathe deeply before responding to the winged woman as tough calming herself. Rummaging through her coat pockets Delta would produce a certified Adventurers Guild Card that aligned with her Alternate Identity. Upon it lay the name Sasha Leonard as well as some other information as was standard. Her gender, age, height and weight. And of course, her role had her listed as a scout with a rank of F boldly stamped in the corner.

"I'm terribly sorry, I've just never seen a valkerie before. You're incredibly fast. It took me by surprise. Please look over my Guild Card for as long as you need. And thank you for pointing me in the right direction!". With Hera now standing before her, Sasha was easily able to deduce that she was indeed not the Baroness. This a fortunate circumstance for Sasha given the rumours surrounding the woman. With Hera seemingly satisfied with the ID and having been given the go-ahead to enter and search for the mayor, Sasha was under the impression she had successfully infiltrated the city. An impression that was soon shaken by the sudden approach of the other guard.

The very same guard who had just been the victim of that lost child's anger, fantastic, what could possibly go wrong! A lot, a lot could go wrong.

Offering the woman her ID Delta was more than aware of the fact Appraisal was about to be used on her. The Guard did little to hide the fact given her direct gaze. This was going to cause a headache. "Eh heh heh, not exactly. The Baroness put out a request to the guild. She requested those skilled in investigation and searching come to aid her in a search for some hidden vault in Yemaya. The reward is a handsome sum of that cache. Not the entirety. As a scout, the quest was recommended to me and well... surprise eh heh.. here I am..." Awkward, that joke was awkward. Delta had no idea what level Aria's appraisal was at and so was unaware as to if she had seen through her identity or not. At this point, she could only keep up her act and hope she hadn't while mentally preparing for the worst. It would be hard to flee from the duo of guards but, not impossible if she were smart about it.

Being coaxed forward by Aria and now stuck between the two, Delta was beginning to think fleeing was becoming more and more like the only option available. She'd just have to wait for an appropriate moment to do so. "Of course, Thank you for guiding me personally. You're ever so kind"

Teuihua continued to move with the group where applicable well paced, staying near Regula.
Regula's reaction to their dialogue was good to see, she seemed understanding of Teuihua and Retili's feelings given the context of what was at hand. Plus Teuihua ultimately agreed that this was a good course of action, one could always feel sorrow and look at everything awful in the world, but focusing on making it a better place and looking at the positives was a much more productive use of time rather than lamenting on the past and being inactive, was the golem's thought. Indeed while not a primary goal, Teuihua could appreciate how pleasing something was by an organic's standards.

Teuihua's head rotated to look at Regula upon hearing her questioning tone.

"I understood little of the ratmancer when I first heard about it but apparently it was the one who destroyed Windfall that place which I first mention coming from when we first met. Apparently they are some kind of magic user who used their powers to destroy much of Windfall with rodents, and it was the very first place which I assisted rebuild in my time in this time in Ryke, I do not understand the technical details of how the magic works as my understanding primarily came from people traveling there to help, which is why I decided to join in."
He nodded for confirmation at what she had to say next.

"Perhaps there will be valuable knowledge to gain from visiting here either way then. Regardless if we find the treasure then, I believe this visit will be a thing good thing in that case."

"I am also inclined to agree with Retili's thought process as to a possibility for why so many may be staying, I know many Mictlantecuhtlians who would have rather perished then have been forced to leave their native lands."

Teuihua did think for a moment at her question which made him reflect on his own circumstances in that moment. He also felt rather pleased to be informed that he had shown to be a good friend thus far, Teuihua didn't really know anyone organic from his past who he knew would say anything like that. In that way he felt pleased that she viewed him that way. So thoughtful for everyone in her circle the construct thought.

"I appreciate that sentiment Baroness you're ever so kind to me without having any obligation for something like me, thank you. If it is not too imposing or inappropriate, I would like to consider you one of my friends too."

"As for your question, when you phrase everything like that, I believe there is truth there to how I feel. I do not believe that my life can be possibly be quite the same again and I do feel a sadness knowing that because of my condition I was unable to try to prevent whatever happened to them, but I do believe that even as far removed I am from my past now, there is still opportunity to do what is right and just in this current time and it should be possible to reach this normalcy you mention, if not a new normal, particularly if I continue to work by your side."
Teuihua said sounding more warm in tone toward the end.

As for Micah's response Teuihua hadn't exactly been expecting that, he would have assumed most would have been pleased at an opportunity like that to be well off from the Baroness herself, it sounded like Micah wanted more independence then that, which was a bit foreign to Teuihua. So many did not have enough in his world, so having a financial way forward for an organic seemed like a most logical move against one's own personal aspirations. Even so he hoped that Micah might reconsider or at the very least give Regula a chance to explain what she was offering, since it wasn't necessarily so what Micah might have assumed it to be. Alas he did not feel it was his place to speak on this matter.

Ryan Kylieth

Ryan was running on low battery, yet again. First off, ever since he and Aileen kissed, he hasn't gotten a good night's sleep. She just had him entrapped with the memories of that night, and moments like such kept him up for the first few nights late into the night. Then, when Aileen decided to stay in Stonewall, Ryan saw her off. Resisting the urge to at least hug her, as he wasn't sure if she wanted to keep it a secret or not, so he played it safe. As for Gobán's request, Ryan was very clear on the fact that he did all the tasks, leaving his notes with him.

Fast forward to the group making their way towards Yemaya, Ryan was being a bit absent-minded as they treaded a forested road. And he equally answered to Regula "Yeah, it does feel nice" though it felt a tad cold without his girlfriend near him. That polluted his thoughts until Regula smacked his thoughts straight, using only words. "Regul-! I mean! Lady Regula!... I uh... well, you see... it's all... a bit... complicated" Burying his head under his hood, to not show off his panicked expression, with a hint of happiness. Since the world probably didn't know how they felt for each other, but both of them did.

Konpaku.Youmu.600.2125213-3.jpg

Aria coulnd’t help but tilt her head at the peculiar Sariel, was that a groan of annoyance? She didn’t seem so, proud about it. Perhaps that was just her way of dealing with things, she could only assume at this point. Everything seemed fairly tame until the angsty child seemed to blow up all of a sudden, making the sword maiden wince with surprise and confusion. “I.. “ she muttered, “..i guess i owe you an apology?” then a sigh of frustration as Aria pinched the top of her own nose, “Look, i’m not old, and my hair isn’t grey. Its white.” She would be damned if she gave this kid the sudden worry that maybe her new legs might have made her shorter.

Thats where she gave passage to ‘her’ and began to examine the one named Delta.

Upon examination and appraisal, “I see, i suppose if the Adventurers Guild created this contract Baroness Caelia must have approved it. Very well, I thank you for the information miss.. uhm..” She looked at her ID. “..Sasha.” She said as she clearly read her real name “Delta” in the appraisal. She squinted her eyes at this Delta as she began to grow suspicious. Giving the ID back to her the appraisal continued to flash before her, the title [Ryke Assassin Guild - Apprentice F] could then be seen. Aria gasped softly but swiftly.

It was then that Aria quickly crashed into Delta’s back with her shoulder, taking both her hands and holding them steady after she fell. As she pulled extra leather slack from her sword scabbard, she had placed a knee on her back to keep her still as she tied the assasins hands togther. Steeling a glance at the aerial, “Hera, this one is a threat. Her name isn’t Sasha, its Delta. Do we have a cell in the town?” She then pulled Delta up and pressed the woman against a large ruin then pressing her face against it with a fore arm just below the assasins neck. “Why are you hiding your identity and what is a lying assassin cur like you truly in Yemaya?” She pulled a knife from the garter sheath on her thigh, spinning it as it sliced the air briefly before pointing it at Deltas face. “I’m only going to ask you this once, and once only, who is your target?” [Interrogation F]. The look of mercilessness in Aria’s eyes was unbreakable. However, as she interrogated the assassin, her own logic nagged at her. If she truly meant any harm, why would she have simply walked up to the town? She was barely catching up to the state of the town, and it was still unknown to her if there even was any sort of authority that managed security. She’d open her mouth to ask, but then pressed further, instead. “Speak."

She considered Retili's words. “That seems plausible, although that also sounds oddly cruel. To be in constant reminder of how everything you took for granted for multiple generations now lies in ruins... That must not be an easy way to live. The fact that these people still find the strength to do so and attempt to rebuilt is truly commendable.”

That said, there was something she was debating to ask Retili for a while now. “Say, considering you've served lord Light as well, I'm correct to assume that you've seen his talents and flaws, right? I keep thinking back on my meeting with mayor Levin and wondering how else I could've approached it. I know enough about proper etiquette to know what he did was a very clear and blatant insult, as he left abruptly and before I gave him permission to do so, yet I feel conflicted on how to reply to such a thing, making me wonder what lord Light or other nobles in general would've done in such a scenario. He also showed some barely hidden hostility, veiled by only a thin layer of polite requests that seemed to be trying to lure me into a trap. I'm going to need to be better prepared should we meet again, or should I meet someone like him in the future.”

As for Teuihua's ratmancer, it was a peculiar story. “Windfall? I don't think I've ever heard of such a place. Yet for a single person to destroy an entire village with rats... that sounds rather awful.” She wondered how she'd defend against such a thing. Rats were difficult to kill when in large numbers and skittering about everywhere and nowhere.

She smiled when Teuihua asked if he could consider her a friend. “Of course dear.” She'd added the 'dear' before even really realising it... Oh no. She was starting to sound like her mother now! Was she getting old already? Bloody hell, rising up in political ranks certainly made her feel a lot older. She figured she'd quickly talk over it. “I could say the same about you, you've been helping out a lot with no obligation to do so either. It'd be more difficult not to consider you a good friend, after all that.”

She was glad to hear he was adjusting to this time and place, despite missing his old one. “I'm glad you think that way, and hope I'll be able to deliver. However, if you ever want to learn more about your past and what happened, I'd be willing to see however I could aid you. Keep that in mind, okay?” She offered, both out of genuine wanting to help and simply being curious herself.

That brought her to a more fun target. Ryan! Oh boy, his reaction was worth its weight in gold for sure~ “Oh, it's complicated? Did the two of you have your first lover's quarrel? It's not good to toy with a maiden's heart, you know~ How about you tell me what happened and I'll see if I can give you advise on how to fix it~ I might not be the most experienced when it comes to love affairs, but I'd like to think I know at least a few things here and there~” Honestly, the latter was a straight-up bluff. She was probably far more hopeless than Ryan when it came to love affairs at this stage, but hey... He didn't have to know that part, right?

Micah's words were less cheerful. She remained silent for a bit, thinking them through. “I understand.” She eventually stated. “Though I respect your decision and desires, I wonder how independent you could truly be, regardless of where you go. In the end, the land can be reclaimed by the nobility and resources confiscated, with laws limiting who or what you could do on top of that...” It was that way everywhere, form what she could remember, with everyone being limited by someone or something else, except for the royalty at the very top... wait, no, even those. They had to satisfy their key figures enough to remain the royalty on top. In the end, everyone was bound with contracts, written or unwritten.

However, there was one thing she took some offence to. “Allow me rectify one thing, however, which is the idea that I'd offer unfair contracts. Not only would that go against my own morals, it'd only work against me in the long run. I'd much rather prefer a hard-earned reputation of having fair deals made over short-term gains and profits, with the people whom I work with being happy to work with or for me, rather than feeling forced to obey. It might not be the most efficient, it might even be foolish, but that's the direction I'd wish to head for. So... I'll have to do some research into land ownership and discuss it with my advisors, but know that my intention is not to enslave people through contracts. I merely wish for the best for my barony and those in it, which would include you, should you chose to settle here.”

As they were talking, the outskirts of Yemaya were in sight by now. They'd arrive at the location soon. (I'm giving it one more round to wrap up these conversations, then have the groups meet up in my next post.)

Hera

Hera nodded, upon hearing Aria wanted to inspect the stranger further. It reminded her that Aria was indeed a Marshall, ever so vigilant. She was about to lead the people further into the city, like Aria commanded, as she was glad that she could ignore the child for now. She'd been buying into Sasha easily, as with a contract being open, having fledgling adventurers show up wasn't too strange. Besides, to be mistaken for a Valkerie was quite the compliment. “No problem miss.” was all she'd said to her thus far...

Yet now things changed rapidly. “What?” She replied in confusion, with Aria suddenly detaining the girl. An assassin? In Yemaya? Right now? There shouldn't be anyone of any importance here, right now, except for... “the baroness?“ That was the only target she could think off for an assassin. Their 'mayor' was not exactly someone worth assassinating, useful as he might be. Aria herself, possibly? Hera didn't know her well enough, but doubted it.

Either way, this was serious, so she'd aim her lance at the girl just in case she'd manage to escape Aria. “I'm afraid the prison was destroyed, but we should be able to detain her at the city centre by chaining her up and keeping her under watch. The mayor will know what to do with her, at least until the baroness arrives.” She'd gesture to head further onwards, as they were already almost at the destined meeting spot and would likely run into the others soon. (I'm giving it one more round to wrap up these conversations, then have the groups meet up in my next post.)

'Delta'

Delta but up little restraint when suddenly tackled from behind, in fact even when being restrained the woman did little to protest. There was no point, no right now at least. She had been caught out as a fake, and as an assassin no less. Trying to escape now would only worsen the situation as a whole, especially given there'd be little hope of her out running the avien to start with. That wasn't all thoug, if the other guard really had seen her titles then it was fair to assume the woman far supperior in ability. With a spear now poited toward her, hands bound and being pinned to the group, it was safe to say any action to escape or escalate the situation would be a suicidal endevour. How embaressing, her first mission and already she'd been caught.

Letting out a soft sigh Delta glanced to the speartip before her and pouted, the discomfort and pain Aria had been inflicting upon her seemingly ineffective against her training [Appretice Assassin]. Indeed this level of interogation and pinning would do little to sway Delta. "A cur? You really are a granny. Thats something an old woman would come out with, honestly the child might have a point.". Eyes shifting from the spear, Delta would glance back toward Aria with a bored expression evident upon her features. "How about you drop the rude attitude and speak to me with some respect hmm? I've been nothing but nice since I got here."

laying her head against the ground echo closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This was not the experiance she had imagined undergoing when she had originally been given her mission. What a nightmare. Things were getting unnceccesarily tedious. "Look, I came here to complete a quest for the adventurers guild. Like I said. Now could you please remove your metalic knee from between my shoulder blade."

Retili considered the question for a moment. "It's true, I have some political experience. I would advise that if you meet with him in future, perhaps make him come to your camp or instead insist on making the setting yours somehow. Perhaps a neutral room with your guards inside. You should have power over the setting. Do not allow your vassals to leave of their own volition. They are not there on to trapse around as they please. It is an official meeting with their liege lord. They must ask permission before they leave in future, that goes for anyone in any capacity aside from your own family or your own liege. Do not exempt anyone from such a requirement. A move to leave without permission is an usurpation of your authority." He paused for a moment. "I would suggest that you summon all of the local mayors and notables from each of the towns to your own city. Do not leave any room for interpretation in the command. You have the power to do so easily and if they fail to make a showing or send a representative they must be punished. Additionally, do not send letters but rather a messenger with your own authority, perhaps myself or Advisor Steelhaven given that it is important. Bring all of them to your to demonstrate that the first visit you paid was a courtesy. While there I would resolve the two mayor issue if you can. If not, show one some clear favor. It may empower them to act to bring the other down in such a way that you can intervene. I would also make sure to grant official writs confirming any who live on those lands that they may continue to do so. It will make them uncomfortable but again it will show them that you are in charge. Later if you must you can use the writs to repeal lands or grants of territory. Perhaps you could also grant a small amount of territory in your barony to each of the mayors you favor personally. The velvet glove within the iron gauntlet as it were. I would also pronounce those on your council so that in no way can the authority of your council be questioned. You may want to bring at least one of the mayors into your official cabinet. Such a position holds prestige and influence for them." Retili considered for a moment longer. "Finally, make it clear to your vassals that you will be holding a court to resolve your people's grievances each week or month, including your own vassal's grievances. This court should supersede the authority of the mayors of each town. For those mayors that you trust and favor, confirm their decisions in each case. For those that have fallen out of favor make your own judgement. It will also go far to confirm your own authority." Retili nodded to himself. "Those are the bare minimum things that I would do, now that you are in your position. To have an efficient realm you must reign in your vassals." The Zentox had a certain rhythm to his tone and speech, as if he had been thinking over these things for a while now. "If it would please you, I would be happy to offer more tutoring in noble procedures as well Lady Caelia."

Ryan Kylieth

Ryan sighed. Was it a good idea to share his relationship's details with Regula? Well, she did say she knew something, which outmatched Ryan's non-existent knowledge in the matter. Arming himself with courage [Introverted Charisma F], he closed in on Regula, whispering his situation to her ear. "Well, you see... We were kind of forced to say we were a couple, to avoid trouble, and then we got separated. When I met her hours later, I went to a private place with her... And we... And we... You know..." Ryan knew that it would be misunderstood if he left it there, so he pressed on. "She admitted she was genuinely interested in me, and I... I... Told her I felt the same........ And then I kissed her" Under his hood, his face was all red, but he was almost done "Since then, all my mind does is think of her. I'm not even able to sleep properly..." He sighed again, and left Regula's personal space, walking along with his head further buried under his hood.

Micah listened quietly to the baroness. Perhaps he let too much of his past feelings slip into his words. "Please be aware that it is not personal, ma'am.. I would express this much caution regardless of who I were speaking to.. god or saint or servant." He said. "I have seen and felt far too much from nobility when it comes to greed and lack of care for the people they're ruling over.." He said before he allowed his eyes to soften a bit. "I would happily have a proper sit down conversation about it once back at Stonewall." He added, pale blue pupils observing the baroness he was addressing. "I simply do not wish to be used and discarded at someone else's whims." Having elaborated on his thoughts and after listening to the baroness's response, Micah lightly bowed his head and fell back to the middle of the travelling group.

"You fer shur do." He scoffed. Did she not find that offensive in any way at all? Who taught this oldie manners? a gross-out tree? Sariel pouted at Aria's statement. She said her hair was white."Hm?" He stared at her with a conceited expression and slightly smiled. "White hair is worse than grey hair, Miss Granny--" He'd chuckle slightly, "Means yer' a major old joanie!" Sariel barked, seeming quite swell about it. He looked at her from head to toe for a moment. He was correct, she had no style at all! (Or he had one single taste in fashion, and that was tokko-fuku and gakuran.)

Sariel turned around and walked by, lifting his head up and moving away with a very audible "Hmph!" As Sariel walked, he'd hear Aria's shout to the human pigeon all of a sudden. "Huh?" He looked over, eyes confused as he instinctively tightened his grip around the monster pretending to be a toy. "Delta? What kind of name is Delta?" Sariel muttered to himself. "(Psst, y'know what a delta is?)" Sariel looked down slightly and whispered to Salboros. He probably knew. Maybe.

From the looks of it, she was being accused of Identity fraud. And she was an assassin? That was cool. And kind of scary- But like, the cool kind of scary. But if his alternate identity didn't work... Sariel would be pretty screwed as his alter ego. Hopefully, no one decides to check that. However she found that out in the first place- What a creep. Who goes looking into other people's personal information? Old people had no shame.

When the supposed assassin girl called the woman named Aria a granny, "Pfft-" The child held a hand in front of his mouth to cover. Sariel couldn't help but laugh a little. A little bit loud, but still. It wasn't a burst of laughter. Sariel's intrigue was caught when he heard the mention of a quest from an adventurer's guild. Was that what was going on here? Lucky. That probably meant there would be some cool rough and gruff adventurer people and not a nag of grannies doing crochet...

What if they were rough and gruff crochet grannies? Eugh. What a grotesque thought.

Teuihua continued along when applicable, maintaining his proximity for the time being. He also stayed rather quiet during Retili and Regula's interaction not wanting to interrupt them. Upon hearing Regula's reaction to what had transpired he nodded. He wouldn't necessarily everyone know about Windfall, though he did gather that the news of it's ransack must have spread to some extent in Ryke even so, no matter how small or less significant it may have been deemed, truthfully Teuihua was unaware of it's map prominence.

When Regula spoke on what he said however he did feel inclined to reply.
"indeed the Ryke village leader's name is Mathias, he was a friendly enough older man who seemed genuinely pleased we were helping, while I could not say I could discern one way or another if he was particularly fond of my kind there, at the very least he did not openly show me any suggestion of prejudice. I also met the priest Hathaway there, he was very kind to me, and showed me quickly that it is not something which has left the world since I've..I suppose you could say what you organics call slumbered in a way."

"That is what I could gather a summoner of rats, I did not see any personally so I can not verify any details of what kinds were used other than accounts of what I may have heard people speak of, but you know very well how reliably information can travel through so many people I am certain."

Teuihua commented, knowing full well the potential effects of people playing "telephone" particularly when it came to organics it seemed, that had not changed by any means. What the golem was not expecting was hearing the dear come from the baroness herself, it was a fond sounding one at that. Teuihua never thought there'd be a time where he'd hear someone call himself something like that by someone who was flesh and blood of all things. From the day he was created it was instilled that humans were masters not intended as traditional parental figures, even if Teuihua couldn't help but think of his original creators that way, even if he had not gotten to spend much time with them. It made him feel undoubtedly good.

Teuihua then replied warmly. "Thank you Baroness. Even if I just see myself doing what I was created to do, I appreciate that you view me in that way."

Teuihua hadn't quite been expecting the generosity to go even farther after Regula spoke so kindly however, as she even offered to help him learn about his past. This was a goal that was perpetually on his mind so that was very reassuring to hear.

" I am certain you will Baroness, I would very much like to go back and see some sites some which I believe I have the coordinates for saved and others which I do not. If you would like to assist me in some capacity with this endeavor at some time I would be honored. Either way It could be very useful to me to see what has become of them, I am certain there are still many more spread throughout remaining in some state than just where I woke up. I can only imagine that after all this time many of them have either been plundered of much of what is of value or have been laregely destroyed, but if we are fortunate perhaps some areas remain that are less disturbed. With how expansive and well protected things were it would be a surprise to me if there wasn't anything of interest left, no matter how small. So I shall keep this in mind."

Teuihua concluded optimistically.

Teuihua was glad to hear Retili's words of wisdom on etiquette for the Baroness. A lot of Teuihua's knowledge on the subject came from protecting, arguably very old school autocratic figures , who could do most what they pleased, so Teuihua learned quite a bit from listening in. This only reassured him that it was a good thing to have Retili in their company.

On the plus side it sounded like Micah had mellowed out some as both sides successfully communicated better their rationale and intentions, so it sounded like perhaps there was potential for something mutually agreeable there.

While Teuihua did not hear the details of Ryan's romantic plight thanks to his whispering he did appreciate that Regula was so willing to assist there.

It was from there that Teuihua could see their destination in the distance, it was all very curious to him as he continued to look around observantly on alert, which felt particularly important when getting close to somewhere new.

She was more than a little taken aback by Retili. This was the most she might've heard him talk since meeting him. Had he been this eager to start giving his opinion on all these things? Most likely. It felt like she'd triggered a landmine and was honestly a little intimidated by just how much the small Fae could ramble. Still, he brought up some good points. That said, at his final sentence, she just nodded. “I'm afraid that will be needed, as I don't think I can remember all that. Although the biggest issue for me, is finding a balance between the norm and the ideal, so to say. I don't wish to be a hopeless idealist, but I don't wish to end up a pragmatic self-serving noble like Highgrove either. For example, as much as I understand your ideas on granting writs, I'm not sure if that's the type of relation I wish to build with those in my barony. There should be a balance between exerting power and offering goodwill.” She glossed over at Micah, curious to see how he'd react to Retili's words, as these ideas pretty much went directly against what the Elf desired; fully owning his own land.

On the topic of that, she couldn't help smile a little at his statement regarding nobles. “We can shake hands on that part. I once tried to play the nobility at their own game, but now that I haven't been a noble for a long time, I'm going to try finding my own way. A balance between ideals and pragmatism. I'd love to see how and where folk like you can fit in with such a direction.” She vaguely alluded to some of her life before this realm, but not enough to start up a big deal about it. She just figured it was worth mentioning she'd give this a genuine attempt at coming to a mutual agreement. That said, there was another thing she was curious about. “By the way, I don't think I ever asked, but I'm curious. What drew you to horses in particular? Out of all the animals you could raise, what made those stand out to you in particular?”

The most 'juicy' talk, however, was with Ryan. By far. Was it a good idea to share his relationship's details with Regula? Nope. Definitely not. The Valkerie was in way over her head already. Even so, he did it and thus she'd reply. Or try to. Honestly, she was surprised by how charming Ryan could be, understanding why Aileen had fallen for him. She'd almost follow suit if she'd let herself get drawn in by that [Introverted Charisma] of his. Luckily enough, she managed to resist it by focussing on his words instead.

Wait. Hold up. They... what now? They already did it? She was really surprised there. Even knowing her mother's profession, she always thought that the love-route would be slower than the professional route, so to say. For them to already... oh, wait. Kissing. Right. They probably hadn't gone there yet if he was this shy about having kissed her. Still, he sounded really badly in love with her. It sort-off, kind-off, maybe... got her a bit jealous? It sounded annoying to be unable to sleep properly, but to love someone like that? That must be nice.

“Well done, I can see you really managed to win over her heart~” She gave him an encouraging smile. “Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll get your sleep back once the butterflies settle~ I think I've once heard someone say that the first stages of love are like a storm, intense and a little overwhelming, but once that storm is settled and you're till together, you can enjoy the gentle breeze together~” Honestly, she just drew that from a poem she once read (Culture B) that was popular in a few countries. If it was popular, it was likely good. If it was good, there must be truth to it, right?

Teuihua was also fairly talkative today, which was great. She liked the chance to get to know her friends a little better. “Well, if that ratmancer ever dares to show their face here, I'll be sure to rain down some hellfire upon them from the skies, before they can pull off the same stunt to one my own villages.” There was some ferocity in her voice there, making it clear she was serious, if not a little eager, to annihilate threats like that. “Ah, you could invite that priest to come visit one day, if you'd like.” She figured having a man of some faith visit might be an interesting thing, more so of it was a friend of Teuihua. She merely nodded at the reply to go find some of Teuihua's past. It'd be put on her (admittedly long) to-do list as one of the things she hoped to join in person. After all, she did get some taste of adventuring and would like to dive back into it for just a bit at some point.

For all intends and purposes, she considered herself fairly experienced. Yet the scene unfolding in front of her was beyond her comprehension. The Marshall detaining the girl with such ferocity, the girl herself merely complaining about it without a shred of fear and another girl looking far too young to be in a place like this was being a loud-mouthed brat through-out it all... What in the world was happening?

Salboros

Being the perfect doll was a tough task for sure. Especially the inability to giggle our laugh was a challenge, made even more difficult by Little Angel laughing as well. As for the question, he totally knew! “It's a name. A weird name. A really weird old-letter name. A really weird old-letter river-ending landform name!” He whispered back his amazing ancient demonic knowledge to Little Angel, giggling a little between each part of his speech.

Eventually, both groups made it to the central part of Yemaya. A fair few people were gathered there, but most were simple townsfolk going about their daily business. That said, the arrival of both groups did start to draw in the attention of some of the people around, as this wasn't exactly a daily occurrence, after all.

The first thing to stand out for the Baroness' party was the scene where two familiar faces to some of those in the group (Aria and Hera) were bringing in a girl they kept under close watch (Delta), even more so due to them being accompanied by a girl that looked rather out of place here (Sariel) carrying a pretty peculiar doll along with her (Salboros).

For Aria's party, the arrival of the baroness and her group was likely shown first by Teuihua's large figure looming on the horizon in the distance in the city's streets. He was a tough one to miss. The two more introverted folk, Micah and Ryan, would likely be able to go unnoticed, although size-wise, Retili would either stand out or be overlooked in the most literal sense of the word.

Out of the villagers, two people stood out.

One of them was wearing a very peculiar outfit and had a pretty gruesome looking weapon with him. However, folk were occasionally asking him things and were seemingly changing their actions based on his responses. He was likely a figure of authority of sorts.

The other person stood out due to being far more 'square' than the average human. A chubby dwarf, perhaps? He also stood out due to the items he was carrying. A lantern, a large back-back and most of all... a book that looked like it had some... tongues coming out of it? Wait... what in the world was that in his foot? Peculiar as he was, most people didn't seem to pay too much attention to him, as he was currently looking at a map of sorts.

Eleanor Katsanis

Eleanor (2).png

When Eleanor saw the decimated buildings, she knew she had found the ruins of Yemaya. The Adventurer’s Guild’s instructions were clear, yet nothing could have prepared her for the emotions that tangled up inside her gut. Even in this new world, suffering followed its inhabitants, and that was clear with the abandoned homes and forlorn faces. Memories resurfaced from her childhood, seeing firsthand the effects that war had on its unwilling people. Starvation plagued her lands in the aftermath, and the memory of neighbors killing neighbors was still fresh on everyone's mind. However, she was no longer ill and could feel an untapped power flowing within her. With this second chance, perhaps she could do what she can to prevent the same strife from this world. With a newfound resolve to learn more, and help best she could, she continued onwards.

As Eleanor walked further through the town, more people filled the area, but once she reached central Yemaya, she stopped in her tracks. Her mouth flew open, as right in the center was the most colorful group of individuals she had ever seen: a massive golem the size of her old village house, a silver-haired... what she could only assume to be a child from this distance, and a group of professionally-dressed people—wait a second, were those wings?

Eleanor could not help but smile in awe, her eyes glistening, as she felt as if she’d stumbled into something much greater than herself. Each character walked with a story to tell, and a future to grasp at their fingertips. She was just a poor girl from a small village, what could she offer this world? Assuming that they were here for the same reasons she was, Eleanor hoped they would offer her guidance, and help her on her journey so as not to disappoint the Guild.

She lifted her dress and trotted over, an inviting smile on her face. The moment her hand left the dress to wave hello, she tripped over the garment with a short “Ah!” and faceplanted right into the mud.

Sheepishly, she began to lift herself up. “Sorry, hello, so sorry,” Eleanor said while wiping at her face, “My name is Eleanor Katsanis, I’m with the Adventurer’s Guild. It's a pleasure to meet all of you.”

That did not go as intended...

Upon Deltas brave but rude remark, Aria’s eyes widdened suddenly as she pulled the womans hair back and pointed the knife at her neck. “Hmm. Your attitude fails to convince.” The marshal would glance at Hera, who made the suggestion about being a possible assasin sent for Regula. However, “This one doesn’t seem as well equipped or smart enough to really carry out such a high profile mark.” Aria then decided to instead put her dagger away. An assasin of such low level would hardly be a threat if kept under close watch. Once again glancing up at Hera she continued in regards to binding the assassin in the city centre, “Very well, that will have to do for now. The baroness will decide her fate.” She then turned to Delta. “This must be your lucky day, assassin."

Besides, being her first day there wouldn’t work in her favor when trying to gain the remnants of Yemaya’s populace. Taking her knee off the woman, Aria would help her up, but not letting go of the bonds behind her back. It was here that Sariel had been really putting the knife in as far as the brattiness was concerned. The so named ‘granny’ would roll her eyes or shake her head at their intended pretty insults. “Whatever you say.” She’d shrug it off. If Aria was someone else, it was likely she’d really go into trying to prove how she’s not an ‘oldie’. However, duty called, and the marshal was quite the dutiful one even in the face of such merciless taunts.

A thought would come to her as they walked, “How does one choose a life of carrying out contracts of death for others?” She wondered, Aria was rather morally conflicted. “Surely, you rather have a much more.. peaceful life. One where people aren’t screaming, or lamenting the victims fallen under your knife.”

It was then that the Marshal would spot Teuihua, he was rather unmistakable no mwatter the distance he was spotted. “Oh? The lady is already here.”

“Well met!” Aria saluted, her voice not wavering upon sight of her dearest friend Regula. “My lady, it appears we have an assassin in our midsts that requires your immidiate attention.” The marshal would step aside, “This is one named, Delta, she attempted to bypass our sights by using some kind of uncanny identity magic to desguise herself as Sasha. It is my intention to chain her up to the center square, however, should you make a decision as to what her fate should be, i am at your command."
